I’m sure you know the chances of groups staying together are slim to none. How do y’all go into this thinking we’re gonna do this long term? Or is this just a platform to stay together for a while and go solo after?

Lyric Da Queen: I’ll say that, initially, since we got together spur of the moment, you know, we didn’t grow up together, it meshed so perfectly — there was no way to ignore that connection. As far as the future, I think we’ll be together for a long time. I don’t see anything wrong with evolving later on; that’s the dope thing about being in a group, you can stay together, you can go solo, you can come back together; the possibilities are endless.

Sir Jewlz: We have a mutual understanding. I think the problem with a lot of groups is communication, and we have that. We talk about everything we’re doing now, and the things we wanna do in the future.

Mr.Melee: Even before the cameras, there’s a lot of the stuff people don’t get to see, there’s a lot that happens to us… people don’t get to see the bond. To go against something that’s meant to be and beyond our control, we feel will just be detrimental to us. So we just go with the divine feeling of it, which is for us to be together.

So many groups get looked at as having one identity, they aren’t seen as individuals. How do you like to differentiate yourselves and remind the public that you are individuals?

Lyric Da Queen: To feed off what Jewlz said, it’s about communication and finding your individuality. When we first got put together as a group, that’s one thing I made sure I said, and they both agreed, that we all needed to find our separate thing. I am the only female, but I’m also identified with my patch, it’s a certain type of way that I rap. Same thing as with Melee, he’s the one you know is gonna go crazy on stage, he’s the one with the dreads that has the laid back cool look. Same thing with Jewlz, he’s gonna bring the young-ness to the group. You don’t know what to expect from him. We have things that set us apart, and also bring us together.

Sir Jewlz: Lyric handles the business aspect, Melee deals with engineering, and me… I’m just here (chuckles) I’ll do the choreography and bring the young flava to it. We bring this together and it’s something great.

I was watching clips from xFactor, and u guys were at Simon Cowell’s house, you talk about growing up in Queens (Jewlz and Melee) and you (Lyric) talk about growing up in flint, tell me a little bit about how you were brought up

Lyric Da Queen: I always say if I can make it out of Flint, my possibilities are limitless! For me, it wasn’t about what was happening in my household, but the things that happened when I stepped outside. My environment as a whole, it’s just something you can’t escape from… you just get captured and try not to become a product of it. In a way, it prepared me for any and everything that I may come across.

Mr.Melee: We use what we have to get what we wanted. Being in Queens, it was always negativity around, but my parents tried to keep us shielded from all of that. They always taught us, no matter what situation you’re in, you can always make it better.

Sir Jewlz: Just like they said, it’s about turning a negative to a positive. You don’t wanna let that bring you down or set you back!

The music industry is very tough to get into and tougher to stay in, how do you plan to stay relevant?

Lyric Da Queen: We emphasize being different and dong whatever it takes to stand out. You have to forever evolve, keeping it fresh, and maintain individuality. We strive to create our way and just giving people the unexpected.

Mr.Melee: We always strive to be out of the box to do something extraordinary. If everyone else is doing this, we’re like let’s do that. That’s gonna keep up relevant, people are always gonna be wondering what Lyric 145 is going to do next.

Sir Jewlz: With the experience we have in the industry, we realize you just can never get comfortable. We always strive for the best, we keep moving.

Most memorable experience so far?

Lyric Da Queen: When Missy contacted us and said she was down to work with us. She and Timbaland have always been my dream producers to work with. I’ve always admired their work, and to know that they know who we are, and to communicate with them, was just way bigger than xFactor for me.

Sir Jewlz: Most memorable for me would be the mall. We got chased (chuckels) fans were crying, and we were shocked. We don’t realize how “big” we are, but when we meet fans, and people that appreciate what we’re doing; it inspires us to keep moving.

Mr.Melee: We stayed in a huge mansion and being there made me think of my family. Made me get perspective and have a taste of what we’re striving for and who I’m doing this for. We’re doing this for the people we love back home.

What are you guys currently working on?

Lyric Da Queen: We’re working on Mixtape( The L.O.F.F. Tape) and EP at same time. We’re just about done with the mixtape which is all industry beats, and an EP with all original tracks. Dropping back to back real soon!

What message do you wanna send to the youth or anyone aspiring to do something that people around them aren’t really supporting?

Mr.Melee: Work hard! Anything you wanna do, you just gotta work hard at it! Think about it every day; you gotta live it and breathe it.

Sir Jewlz: You can achieve anything you put your mind to. It’s simple but it’s true! Don’t give up, because if you have doubts, then you shouldn’t continue to pursue what you’re trying to do. Never have doubts!

Lyric Da Queen: It’s just about persistence and believing in what you do. Whatever that one thing is that you can’t go a day without thinking about and it’s always on your mind, you need to put everything you have into doing it. You kinda have to become a maniac; you gotta become crazy about doing what you want to do. If you can envision it, it’s already yours!
