Tired of leaders not responding to emails? Here’s a simple, no cost solution

The Problem: Building a team for a BBQ fundraiser.

You need 4 teams of 4, to shop, prep, setup, cook & clear away.

So you send out an email to your church…

First round of emails you only get 3 – all to setup & cook.

2nd round, you get 3 more… 2 for setup, 1 to shop (needs a lift)

3rd round, you’re trying to rearrange people while asking for more help

4th, 5th, & 6th round, emails are flying everywhere & you’re going crazy!

The Solution: An online Googledoc spreadsheet.

You send it out once, check it in a day or two, and maybe send out one more.

How to create a GoogleDoc:

1) go to Google
2) click Documents in the top bar
3) sign in
4) click ‘Create’
5) click ‘spreadsheet’ make a list of what you need
6) at the top right, click ‘share’
7) below ‘who has access’ you’ll see ‘private’ and ‘change’
8) click ‘change’ & change it to ‘anyone with link’
9) change ‘can view’ to ‘can edit’
10) now you can either add in some addresses, & a message OR
11) copy the link, and paste it into an email, adding a message
12) send.

I use them for Connect Group lists, Pot-Luck dinners, Fundraisers, Service Runsheets, Rosters & more.

It really empowers people to both volunteer in, & swap shifts without bothering me.

Last week our second grandchild was born.

Rhys John Bayntun is Erin & Scott’s second child, so Jack has a brother now & we have an adorable second grandson.

And here’s 3 things i love about being a granddad.

1. It’s all care but no responsibility. Well not the same level of responsibility.

2. Fun! It truly is a fun filled, laughter filled experience being with our grandson. And Rhys will only add to the fun.

3. Watching your kids grow as they take on mum & dad responsibilities.

You don’t do it in private conversations (at least I hope you don’t!) so don’t do it online.
