<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Location:</strong> 90% Remote/Work from home; 10% Event participation (subject to increase/decrease according to event/project scheduling and programmatic needs and priorities).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Hours:</strong> Part-time non-exempt desired (up to 30 hours/week); Full-time exempt negotiable for the right candidate</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Rate of Pay:</strong> $23-$28 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">General:</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Participate in establishing Annual Budgets (Draft June &#8211; board/Final July)&nbsp;</li><li>Work with ED to release Annual Report&nbsp; (July &amp; August)</li><li>Communicate and work closely with the Grants Coordinator (or ED) to support each department’s goals and avoid duplicating responsibilities and efforts.&nbsp;</li><li>Attend any program and grant meetings as needed.&nbsp;</li><li>Attend a weekly meeting with ED and other management staff and report and strategize on Fundraising activities.</li></ul>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Fundraising Events:</h4>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Work with ED and the Board of Directors’ Fundraising Committee to plan, initiate, and execute fundraising events and campaigns.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan&nbsp;</li></ul>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Establish monthly fundraising events with chefs, and other supporters.&nbsp; Goal is to bring in a minimum of $2000 in profit per event.&nbsp; Connect with key people to plan, initiate, and execute.&nbsp; Ensure marketing promotion is done to gain additional support and make our organization and contributors stand out in the community.&nbsp;</li><li>Manage and delegate all event activities &#8211;&nbsp; sponsors, vendors, donors, auctions, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major individual and corporate donors.</li></ul>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Marketing and Public Relations:</h4>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Maintain oversight of all Marketing and PR for Grow Some Good and cross market with its collaborating organizations.</li><li>Work to define “elevator speech” for all internal staff/ board.&nbsp; Establish yearly&nbsp; themes/strategies.&nbsp;</li><li>Establish Social Media Plan; work with staff to have continual flow of quality stories.</li><li>Create appealing and effective social media postings that are responsible for promoting and maintaining the reputation of the “Grow Some Good” brand.</li><li>Inform the community of our activities and identify opportunities to engage and support the organization.</li><li>Increase engagement of social postings each month and maintain a schedule for releases.</li><li>Follow conversations relative to individual postings and interact with all public responses.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide monthly KPI reporting for social media and website platforms and set relevant goals and objectives.</li><li>Work with the Management Team and Staff to ensure a quality newsletter is released monthly. Increase readership (list size + actual opens) by 10% each year.&nbsp; Establish schedule of target posts going out 3 months.</li></ul>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Donor Development:</h4>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Complete and implement the Corporate Donor Package&nbsp;</li><li>Complete and implement the Legacy Donor Package</li><li>Complete and implement the Individual Donor Package</li><li>Establish relationships with current donors</li><li>Maintain contact database and establish guides for flagging different donor levels</li><li>Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for recognition of donors</li><li>Establish SOP for donor touches based on levels of giving.&nbsp; Look into systems to track/automate.</li><li>Understanding of Chart of Accounts and Reporting from Quickbooks Online.&nbsp;</li><li>Understand basics of tax requirements and accounting for nonprofits.&nbsp;</li><li>Increase our overall Corporate and Individual Donor Giving by 20% per year.&nbsp;</li><li>Meet goals established in the Donor Development and Fundraising Plans.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Grant Support:</h4>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We are a small organization where everyone has to support each other and pick up tasks needed to make everyone successful.&nbsp; Our organization will frequently need assistance with executing tasks in this area.&nbsp; Those tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Assist with overall grants tracking (application and report deadlines) and review with the core team.</li><li>Assist the team with writing grants, letters of intent, providing basic requirements, requesting letters of support, and submittals.&nbsp;</li><li>Requesting Letters of Support.</li><li>Identify new grant sources and build personal relationships.</li></ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Garden Coordinator leads curriculum-focused outdoor classes and garden-based nutrition workshops. The Garden Coordinator works with teachers as they plan their lessons utilizing the outdoor classroom and models skills that teachers need to feel comfortable using the garden to teach science, history, social studies, cultural studies, math, literacy and other standards in practical real-life applications.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We are currently hiring for positions at multiple schools on Maui. Positions may be Grow Some Good staff, Department of Education positions, or private school positions depending on school placement.</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>10-35 hours per week depending on position</li><li>HOURS: Varies based on school hours, but typically 7 hours/day between 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. up to 5 days/week + prep time</li><li>LOCATION: various schools across island of Maui</li><li>RATE: $17 &#8211; $22 per hour, based on experience</li></ul>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Responsibilities</h3>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Work with teachers to develop lessons that support classroom teaching in a range of curriculum areas (science, social studies, mathematics, language arts, etc.). </li><li>Lead garden classes, incorporating both environmental science and nutrition education as they relate to the garden.</li><li>Oversee and coordinate students’ hands-on experiences in the garden (planting, tending, harvesting and cooking).</li><li>Create video lessons as needed for distance learning opportunities.</li><li>Lead safe and efficient maintenance of the garden, coordinate volunteers, support school outreach functions and work with PTA and PCNC (Parent Child Networking Coordinator) and Grow Some Good to secure needed supplies.</li><li>Collaborate with Grow Some Good on garden scheduling / maintenance, plan and prepare for garden work activities, co-manage planting schedule, and ensure availability of tools and other necessary materials.</li><li>Establish garden time schedule with curriculum coordinators and teachers.</li><li>Participate in community garden events that bring students, families, teachers and community members together.</li><li>Maintain necessary records of garden use and volunteer activity.</li></ul>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Required Qualifications</h3>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>4 year college degree with work in agriculture, science, ecology, environmental science, education or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for college background. </li><li>1+ years of facilitation or teaching experience with youth aged 5 – 14.</li><li>Knowledge and experience in growing a variety of edible plants, preferably in tropical climates. Knowledge of topics including urban gardening, botany, biodynamics, aquaponics, indigenous farming techniques. Knowledge in environmental science, health and nutrition, food systems and food access are a plus.</li><li>Ability and willingness to create video lessons as needed for students participating in distance learning. Experience with video editing a plus.</li><li>Ability to establish positive rapport with diverse groups of students and volunteers through written and verbal communications.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations including youth and adults.</li><li>Ability to organize work plans and work independently.</li><li>In good physical condition with willingness to participate in occasional physical labor in garden setting. Much of day is spent on your feet in outdoor setting. Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs.</li><li>Should have access to transportation for occasional supplies procurement and delivery, and be able to show proof of insurance for vehicle used.</li><li>May be required to meet Department of Education minimum qualifications for employment and/or complete background check.</li><li>Must be able to access a personal computer and have a cell phone.</li></ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Grow Some Good cultivates a healthy community by strengthening local agriculture and improving access to nutritious, affordable food. Grow Some Good is a nonprofit community program that currently supports schools and community gardens  across Maui.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As a non-profit, positions are dependent on receiving grant funding and donations.  Positions are typically for the school year and breaks are not paid for unless there are special projects. </p>

<p><span>Grow Some Good is always on the lookout for volunteers. There are always a variety of volunteer opportunities!  Help with watering and light maintenance in the mornings, pick up coffee grounds at the local coffee shop or join a class and help with students during the day. We also have Mala Workdays scheduled at various schools where volunteers help with general maintenance and are encouraged to bring gardening questions and share with the garden community!</span></p>

<p><span>Composting principles have always been part of the Grow Some Good curriculum however in the 2019-2020 school year, we kicked off the zero waste program. Food waste from the cafeteria was composted and put back into the garden to create a more fertile growing environment. </span></p></div>
