Twitter Opens The Door To Advertising

Did anyone take the time that email with the change in the Terms of Service from Twitter on Thursday? If you took the time to read the fine print, what it did was open the door to allow advertising on the popular social networking site. No it's no secrect that I'm about monetizing online content, but not if it comes in the form of 140 character text messages to my mobile phone. If they open that can of worms I'll drop my twitter account faster than an olympic weight lifter drops a barbell after a deadlift.

Fear not my friends because I don't think it's a big deal. My suspicion is that the most likely impact will be in the layout and use of advertising on the site itself rather than in-tweet ads. For those who like the service, keep in mind that if they can't figue out how to make money with it, it won't be around forever.

So what's your take on thsi latest change? Would you tolerate "tweetvertising" or not? Would ads on the site be enough to drive you elsewhere, and if so, where to?

Beanstalk Revenue has decided to implement support of Google Ads to its ad server network. The amount of branded ad inventory through some of our traditional channels is down since the first of the year, and the need to expand to allow our clients to increase revenues has become clear.

Beanstalk Revenue is committed to not just supplying ads, but providing the most profitable ones for our clients. Integrating Google ad support has always been our our radar. We plan to focus on their more profitable ad segments including pre-roll, post-roll, and backstops, and avoid the lower paying text ad formats as much as possible.
