Yes sir! I am staying in tonight to save money for the rest of the weekend. So, here’s my round-up of fun times and what not…

-Tomorrow is Chomp in Stomp at Cabbagetown park. Chili, beer, music good times!

-Halloween weekend, Halloween night, and Ted’s Hucktoberfest were all awesome!

-Mi.I.A was fucking awesome!! The most packed show I have ever been to in ATL. Camera was dead unfortunately.

-Eating some good shit for my bday Sunday! Steaming some king crab legs in beer, among other things, yum!

Word!

What I love:

-Seeing happy people: Couples making out, friends laughing and hugging, goodness and joy all around.

-My bulldog, whom I have had for a whopping 5 years: The most badass motherfucker around.

- Jack and Diet coke with a lime: Redneck all the way but it goes down so smooth baby!

-Halloween: I love it that I celebrated it three different times this year. People watching perfection, good house parties all around, candy, costumes, scary…how does anyone NOT like Halloween?

-Sweet Tomatoes: A co-worker took me there today. WTF? Why have I been sleeping on that? Awesome salad bar, good soups, a sundae bar, AND strawberry lemonade and baked shit…even muffins! Yum.

-Good bagels and lox: I used to work at the best little Jewish bagel shop and deli EVER. Found a new spot to get some good Everything bagels, Nova lox and scallion cream cheese, and God I love a good old Black and White cookie, yum!

-Going home: Cannot wait to go home next weekend. I miss fresh air and trees and porch swings and my dogs and good food.

What I hate:

-Starbucks: Cannot wait to move out of this neighborhood so I can use little local coffee shops again. I worked a coffeehouse back home when I was like 18…the small coffee shops so much better. Starbucks is weak, over-fucking priced and I have to listen to the materialistic-ass yuppies yammering on loudly about their vacation homes in Destin.

-Georgia’s traffic laws: Got into an accident, way minor, my fault, a few weeks ago. Had to go to court and then if you cannot pay the entire fine court day, you have to go to a DAMN PROBATION OFFICE and pay it! Hungover as all hell day after Halloween, had to drive all the way to the damn WEST END–kind of scary and far part of ATL–and pay my money to an actual probation officer. WTF??

-This drought: What is up with the crazy weather conditions in recent years? That is some trippy apocalyptic ass shit. Fires, hurricanes, droughts, flooding. Scary.

-Lack of camping: Nobody wants to go with me. Perfect weather, damn it, and nobody wants to get out of the city for a weekend…bastards.

As I wrote last week, my wonderful friend Greg Morris is in two shows at Whole World in ATL. I loved Sordid Lives! Last night we were able to catch his other show, Southern Baptist Sissies. I laughed my ass off and then cried like a baby at the end. Lord! Go support local theatre and see these shows!!

So, Georgia is absolutely ridiculous. I got into an accident last month. Nothing big! A dent here, a dent there. Back home in Florida, you’d pay a fine and go on your way. But in GA, they insist on really packing the courthouse with traffic violation citation-holders. Awesome, right?! So, I had to drive downtown, which I loathe, pay for parking, avoid being mugged by homeless people eyeballing me as I passed by, find the stupid courthouse, wait and then finally get corralled into the courtroom.

I had to wait forever in line. Bored as hell, I was checking out the traffic court crowd. So, directly in front of me in line was the super-hot chick. She was dressed like she was about to go to the club. Tight jeans, black peep toe stilettos, tight black sweater.

So…there is no real point to this post and I am realizing that as I read it–other than the fact that there was a really hot girl in front of me at traffic court. That’s all!

Doing in-house SEO definitely has its ups and downs, pros and cons. I’ve learned so much since I started up the effort…how to navigate through the sometimes choppy and dark waters, build relationships, work with difficult people, influence decision makers and a lot more. Big brand sites can be tricky. People are often extremely reluctant to try new things, update the site, or keep up with the competition. It’s all about figuring out who you need to be “in” with, learning how to work around the slow and lame-o approval process, and keeping in the loop when it comes to projects.

Taking full advantage of our CMS has really helped me out. CMS stuff can be pretty daunting…so much shit to sort through, the slow reaction time, etc. Search Engine Land recently posted about automating in-house, which made mention of utilizing CMS.

Anyways, that is my in-house tip today.

It’s Friday and I’m (Not) in Love. Just bored! So…thought I’d blog bout books.

1) About halfway through Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld. I like it. Sittenfeld does a great job at painting a picture of teenage angst, prep school kids and the hierarchy of the oh-so-elite rich kids. I think one reason why I’ve been digging it is because of my prep school history. I had a full scholarship to a pretentious-ass prep school in good ol’ Thomasville Georgi-AH and it was the worst 3 years of my life. The grandkids of the owners of companies like Maybelline were in my class. After that stint, I definitely knew the meaning of “slam book”!

2) I’m re-reading Siddartha by Hermann Hesse.
I think everyone should read it at least one. Get enlightened, y’all!

3) Trying to be a good girl by reading Young, Fabulous and Broke by Suze Orman. Although Suze’s perkiness, bulging eyeballs and raspy voice deeply scare me, she does have some good advice. According to Suze, I am “broke by choice”…

4) I love love love Naruda.

-Feeling extremely hungover, tore up, strugglin’? No worries…there’s still hope for your busted ass to look like super-awesome! Just think of one thing you could put on that is eye-catching and/or extraordinary. Dangly earrings, dramatic nail polish, weird shoes…so no t-shirt, jeans and flip flops, know what I’m saying? You’re just drawing people’s eyes to other areas other than your tired-ass face–dark circles and all.

I am sad to say that the library in this neighborhood is way lame compared to the one in my old neighborhood, the one I worked in. Anyways, I am bored before Pilates (BTW, do u think it is bad to have a glass of wine beforehand? Just this once?), and just got back from the library, so thought I’d write about it to fill my crappy blog up more.

Why I heart the library:

1. It’s free, and what I always say-if it’s free, then it’s for me! Books, movies, CDs…all free!

3. It’s quiet. No stupid people yammering on in my ear, no babies crying, no car horns. I can hear myself think. Between the quietness and the determination of being on the hunt for whatever I may be looking for, I feel like I am away from everything, especially the idiot bitchs and lame-os in my pretentious neighborhood.

4. There’s so many books to choose from! As you wander among the bookshelves, you may find something that you wouldn’t normally read. Sometimes I have discovered great new authors and books this way.

5. It’s sexy. The smell of books, musty and old, The prim and proper, academic, studious, quiet air about the place. The tall, jam-packed bookshelves…you know what I’m saying. I mean, when I tell dudes I worked in a library last year, they’re all “That’s hot”; maybe I will pick that side job back up…

6. It’s familiar. I mean, everyone’s been going to the damn library since elementary school! It’s comforting.

7. You can find some really old-school movies there, especially on VHS. That’s right, I said it. I cannot get rid of my VCR; my friends give me hell. But all my Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies are on VHS! And when you go to yard sales, people are selling movies for like 50 cents!

8. Similar to #7, you can find some really good foreign movies and documentaries you’ve never heard of but end up being really cool.

9. If you see a hot guy in there, or girl, it makes them even hotter that they are in the library. They aren’t babbling on, sounding stupid and ruining your initial opinion of them; they are quiet, steadfast in their mission for whatever the hell they are looking for. They look hotter. When I worked at the library, no hot guys ever came in, unfortunately. But, they are a-plenty at university libraries, obviously. I am contemplating visiting different libraries around town and scoping, just like people did at the Publix by FSU (it was nicknamed “Club Publix” and actually mentioned once in Playboy as one of the best places to pick up hotties in Tallahasseee…so, if you are a single guy looking for some sorority girls while you are visiting Tally, hit up the Publix on Pensacola and Ocala streets). Anyways, I mean, you never know–maybe I was just working/looking in the wrong neighborhood.

10. You feel like you’re gaining back some of those lost brain cells.
