Google Talk for Mobile

Want to stay in touch with your Google Talk friends and contacts while on the go? Check out Talkonaut. It's a Java-based client that can be added onto your mobile phone, giving you access to your contacts on Google Talk or any Jabber network. . The application will work on pretty much all popular J2ME handsets. You will need a internet connection in your phone(GPRS EDGe or 3G etc) to use the Talkonaut service since it does establish a TCP/SSL connection.

Even though Google Talk supports VoIP, this free Java client only supports instant messages, so no free voice calls yet.
There are other clients available and will be soon added to this post

If you are using a gtalk gadget(How to use a Gtalk gadget) or gtalk for firefox sidebar(How to geta Gtalk Gadget for Firefox Sidebar) then you can play youtube videos in your chat window. Just paste the youtube link as a normal conversation and you can play the video there

Similar is the case with Picasa web albums. Just paste the link in gtalk gadget like a normal conversation and we can view the album

This Gtalk Side bar help you to login to your gtalk account from firefox.To do that Right click this link and choose Book mark this link to bookmark.

Now goto Bookmarks and right click this bookmark and choose Properties anc check Load This Bookmark in SideBar Option.
Now to launch gtalk gadget just click this bookmark

Everybody knows that we can access gtalk from within gmail without the need for an IM application.Gtalk Gadget enables you to login to your gtalk account without even having gtalk application. To try this goto http://www.google.com/talk/ and Click launch Gadget to see the charm.Now you can also include this gadget in your own webpages by using some simple javascript code provided by google

You can add a similar Gtalk Button to your web page by adding the following javascript code in your sites html code..
This can be done by opening the html file in notepad and pasting the script below at the appropriate place. The sample gtalk button and code are given here

Gtalk Startup parameters

(go to Start/Run and type "c:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe" /one_parameter_from_the_list_below OR create a shortcut for the same to use it)

/nomutex: allows you to open more than one instance of Google Talk explained here
This parameter is used for using multiple instances of google talk. Learn how to run multiple instances of gtalk like yahoo multimessenger
/autostart: Check the registry settings to see if Gtalk needs to be started. If the “Start automatically

/forcestart: Similar to /autostart, but forces Gtalk to start.

/S upgrade: Used when upgrading Google Talk

/register: registers Google Talk in the registry, includig the GMail Compose method.

/checkupdate: check for newer versions

/plaintextauth: uses plain authentication mechanism instead then Google’s GAIA mechanism.Used for testing the plain method on Google’s servers.

/nogaiaauth: disables GAIA authentication method. The same as above.

/factoryreset: set settings back to default.

/gaiaserver servername.com: uses a different GAIA server to connect to Google Talk. Used for debug purposes only, there are no other known GAIA servers.

/mailto email@host.com: send an email with Gmail

/log: probably has something to do with the diagnostic logging

/diag: start Google Talk in diagnostic mode

Bold Italic Formatting for Gtalk

-To bold your text, put an asterisk (*) before and after content. eg: *these will be bold*

- To italic your text, put an underscore (_) before and after content. eg:_these will be italic_

-Line Break: Use SHIFT + ENTER

And also certain smilies or emotions are supported by gtalk. These work well if you have firefox extension called Gtalk emotions or The gtalk conversation theme with emotions

Themes for the Conversation Window

The best theme i suggest is the Classic theme with emotions. This is the normal gtalk with smilies dispalyed
You can also use the gtalk full exe theme

* To install the theme type in %APPDATA% in RUN in Start Menu and click OK

* Change the folder options to display hidden and protected files

* Now go up a level in the window that pops up

* Now open the folder Local Settings>Application Data>Google>Google Talk>Themes>User

* Create a folder named chat there

* Now extract the zipped theme there

* Now restart gtalk and go to settings>Appearance and choose the theme you have just installed

OR An alternative way

* goto C:/Documents and Settings/(your user name)/Local Settings/Application Data/Google/Google Talk/themes/user/

* create a folder named chat if it doesnt exist and open that folder

* Extract the dowloaded theme to there

* Now restart gtalk and go to settings>Appearance and choose the theme you have just installed

Gtalk Themes full

For this you need to download the specified googletalk.exe file and replace the original googletalk.exe with this one(it would be good to backup the original copy before you do this)
You can change the theme of the gtalk conversation window without changing others

-CTRL + Mousewheel up/down: Change the font size in a conversation window.

-F9: Open Gmail to send an email to the person you talk to

-ESC: Close the current window

Gtalk Multi Login OR Multi Talk

Here we are posting a simple trick which will enable you multiple parallel login to instant mesenger Gtalk . You can log in to gtalk with more than one google user account to gmail at a time. Each instance of gtalk which will be opened after applying this trick will ask for a username password and in each instance here you can enter different usernames & passowords to login as different users.

First method

Create a shortcut to “C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe” /nomutex and save it in desktop by naming it to Multiple Login To Gtalk. Here we assume that path to gtalk is C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe. In your case it may be different and you need to replace it with path to gtalk’s program in your computer.

Edit Existing Google Talk Shortcut:-
Right click on existing google talk shortcut and open it’s properties. There open the shortcut tab on the top. There in the textfield under the label “Target” the path to google talk in your disk is written either append /nomutex to the end of it or completely change it to
“C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe” /nomutex and then click ok. Now we modified the existing shortcut to make possible simultaneous multiple login to gtalk by opening that short cut each time we want to log in.

Create A New Shortcut:-Rightclick on desktop and click new->shortcut and then enter “C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe” /nomutex as location and Google multiple as name of the shortcut and when ever you want multiple login, open this shortcut.

Now the shortcut you created using any of the above methods should look like this

Use this shortcut to get the multi messenger

Second Method

Here is a patched version of gtalk 1.0.0.72.Polygonal patch has been applied to this file and also a Mac Os X skin.Now copy this file to your gtalk directory and create a shortcut for it on your desktop.
