Create a pageless Google Docs document on the desktop

On the desktop, you can either open a new document or start editing an already created one. Once open, click on the “File” menu at the top-left corner and select the “Page setup” option from it.

Here, move to the “Pageless” tab and click on “OK” to remove all pages and turn the document pageless.

This will create a wide document without any pages. It will also automatically open the document outline option on the left side, which you can close if you don’t want to use it.

You can also change the background color or set these changes as the default for all future documents from the same Page setup option.

Create a pageless Google Docs document on Android

On the Google Docs mobile app, it’s a bit different to create a pageless document. Below are the steps to enable the pageless option on the Google Docs app:

While the document is open, tap on the “Pen icon” at the bottom-right side to start editing it.

Now, tap on the three vertical dots menu at the top-right corner and select “Page setup” from it.

Here, enable the toggle button next to the “Pageless” option, and your document will become pageless.

For both the desktop and the mobile app, you can undo the changes to get back the document separated into pages. Google Docs will automatically format the document according to the page breaks, which might break tables and images already added.

As the name suggests, AMP offers a fast page loading speed that is usually 4 times faster than a regular webpage. However, this speed does come with its downsides. AMP pages have many elements removed, like CSS styles, animations, JavaScript, etc. As the page has to download fewer elements, it also loads faster. Although this means you won’t be enjoying cool animations, menus, and other interactable features.

This initiative is by Google to make the web more accessible in areas where the internet speed is slow. However, if your internet is fine, then you shouldn’t have to bear this downgrade to web pages. For that, I am going to tell you multiple ways to avoid AMP links and access the original mobile websites.

1. Open the original page from the AMP

The easiest way to access the original web page without needing to make any changes to your browser is to open it from the AMP link. When you open an AMP link, it shows an “i” icon at the top-left corner. Tap on this icon to show the page’s original URL. Just tap on this URL to open the original page.

I know this method does actually make you access the AMP page first, but if you just need to check the original page quickly, it’s the best method. It’s most useful when you occasionally need to check the original pag,e as you won’t have to make any changes to your regular browsing.

2. Use the browser’s desktop mode

Most phone browsers have a built-in desktop mode to access the desktop version of web pages. This mode basically lies to the websites that you are using a computer instead of a mobile device. As AMP is exclusive to mobile devices, the website will always show the desktop version.

For the demonstration, I am going to show you how to enable it on Chrome:

Open a new tab in Chrome and tap on the main menu at the top-right corner (three vertical dots).

From the menu, check the checkbox next to the “Desktop site” option. Now all the websites opened in this tab will be in the desktop version, including Google Search.

You’ll have to go through the above process every time you open a new tab, as the option gets reset in the new tab.

3. Switch search engine

To be honest, AMP is being pushed by Google, so as long as you are in Google’s ecosystem, it will be hard to fully avoid AMP. If you want to fully disable AMP and directly go to the original mobile web page, you’ll have to make some sacrifices.

By default, Google Search shows AMP links whenever available, but most other search engines still show the original web page. You can just switch to a popular search engine like DuckDuckGo or Bing and browse the web without seeing AMP. Here’s how to do it in Chrome:

Tap on the Chrome main menu at the top-right corner and select “Settings” from it.

Here, tap on the “Search engine” option and then select your preferred search engine from the list.

This will remove the Google Search bar from the middle of the new tab,s and you can use the address bar at the top to search using the selected search engine.

4. Switch the browser

If you depend on Google Search for all your queries and can’t leave it, then maybe ditching the Chrome browser will be an option for you. Most other mobile browsers block AMP by default or at least give you the option to disable it even for Google Search.

Both Firefox and DuckDuckGo have AMP disabled completely. These browsers are also known to have great privacy features, and you can switch to Google Search inside them.

Although if you don’t want to have AMP disabled all the time, then the Brave browser will be a better option. Not only does it have AMP disabled by default, but it also has a dedicated option to enable/disable it.

I know it’s a bit annoying that you can’t fully disable AMP while using Google services. The photos need to be in Google Photos to put them together. If the required photos are not already synced by Google Photos, you can upload them using the “Upload” button at the top-right corner.

If you have the pictures in Google Photos, click on the tick icon at the top-left corner of each photo to select them.

Once selected, click on the Plus (+) button at the top-right corner and select “Collage” from it.

This will put both pictures side by side with a white frame to separate them. You can use the menu at the top-right corner to download the photo or share it. You can also just leave it as is, and it will be saved in Google Photos.

If you want to make some changes, click the “Edit” button at the top. You can add filters, resize, crop, and rotate the image.

On the Google Photos Android app, the process is slightly different, and you get a little better control. Here’s how to put two photos side by side on Android:

Tap and hold on one of the photos, and it will select it and open the selection window. You can then tap on the other photo to select it too.

Afterward, tap on the “Add to” button at the bottom and then tap on “Collage”.

This will put both photos side by side. You can individually rotate or zoom in/out using pinch and rotate finger gestures.

You can also individually edit the photos. Tap on one of the photos and then tap on the “Edit” button that shows up.

This opens all the editing options that are much more powerful than the desktop version. You can annotate, auto-enhance, adjust color, and much more. When you are done making all the changes, hit the “Save” button, and the side-by-side photo will be saved.

Thankfully, you can add custom page breaks right from the printing options. In today’s post, I’ll show you how to add custom page breaks in Google Sheets and manage them.

Insert a page break in Google Sheets

Below are the steps to insert and manage page breaks:

Open the sheet you need to print in Google Sheets and make sure all the data is inserted because the print option will open filled rows and columns from start to end.

Now, click on the “File” menu at the top-left corner and select the “Print” option from it. You can also press the “Ctrl+P” keyboard shortcut to directly open the print option.

Once open, click on the “SET CUSTOM PAGE BREAKS” option in the right panel.

Depending on the data size, page breaks will already be added, which you can see as blue dotted lines.

To create custom page breaks, hover over the dotted line, and it will turn into a thick blue line. Afterward, hold the click and move the page break however you like.

If you need more page breaks for your data, then move to the very end of the sheet and hover the cursor at the very bottom. A blue line will show up that you can grab with the click and move wherever you like. You can repeat the process to add as many page breaks as you like.

If you need to remove a page break, hover the cursor over the blue dot at the start of the line, and it will turn into a cross button. Click on this button to remove it.

You can also just delete all the changes you have made by clicking on the “RESET” button at the top and starting over.

When you are done adding page breaks, click on the “CONFIRM BREAKS” button at the top-right corner to apply them. You can then edit printing options as you like and print the sheet.

Whether it’s an accident, a medical situation, or even a crime scene, you can get help from someone trusted without even looking at the phone. In this post, I will show you how you can add emergency contacts on Android and set up related features.

How emergency contact help?

The most basic function of an emergency contact is to let anyone contact them from your phone without needing to unlock your phone. If you are in a condition where you are unable to get help using your phone, someone else can use your phone to contact the emergency contact.

Although on most newer Android phones, you also get a bunch of other information-sharing functions that could help in an emergency. The features your phone may support depend on the phone manufacturer and Android version. However, some common information your phone might be able to share includes current location, recent call history, pictures, video, voice recording, and a prewritten message, etc.

Add an emergency contact on Android

All new and old Android phones have the emergency contact function built in, but how you can access the function is different from manufacturer to manufacturer. Although I can’t provide universal instructions that might work for all phones, I will try to list all possible places where these options could be listed.

The easiest method that should work for most users is to go to “Settings” and type “emergency” in the search bar at the top. This will open all emergency-related functions, and you should find the emergency contact option here.

If you want to manually access the emergency options, then they should be under the “About phone” or “Security” option in Settings. On my Samsung phone, the “Safety and emergency” is listed right inside the Settings, so the emergency option could also be directly inside the Settings.

Once inside, you should see the “Emergency contacts” option here, tap on it. This will open up your contacts list to choose the emergency contact. You can select multiple contacts here, and the selected emergency contacts will appear in your lock screen “Emergency call” function.

Using emergency alert functions

You should also be able to set up SOS alerts for your contacts, who will be automatically given information about you in case of an emergency. As I mentioned before, what information can be shared will depend on your phone manufacturer, but for demonstration purposes, I’ll use the functions available on my Samsung phone.

In the same emergency options, there should be an “SOS alert” function, or in my case “Send SOS messages” function. Enable the function, and it will ask you to choose the contacts you want to send the SOS alert to. Once the contacts are selected, you’ll be able to configure the alerts.

To trigger the SOS alert, you’ll have to press the phone’s power button multiple times. In my case, I have the option to choose from 3 to 4 times. This will send a text message to selected contacts telling them you are in trouble and your current location.

I also have the option to automatically call someone after sending a message to my emergency contacts. I’ll have to separately select this contact.

There are also options to automatically take pictures from both front and back cameras and record audio to send to selected contacts.

You might find similar options on your phone and maybe even more functions like drafting a custom message to send or sharing recent calls or messages.

To conclude

Usually, people with serious medical conditions use the emergency contacts function to ensure they can get help from trusted people. However, I believe everyone should at least have one emergency contact specified, you never know when you may end up in a situation where you need help but can’t use the phone. Even if you can’t trigger the SOS alert function, someone else nearby will still be able to contact your emergency contact.

Of course, a rogue extension isn’t the only reason you may want to disable Chrome extensions; maybe you just want to temporarily stop using an extension. Whatever your reasoning may be, below you’ll find multiple ways to disable Chrome extensions.

1. Disable a specific extension

If you just need to disable a specific extension quickly, here’s how to do it:

In case the required extension is pinned on the address bar, right-click on it and select “Manage extension”. Otherwise, click on the “Extensions” button in the address bar to open the extensions list.

Now, click on the three-dots menu next to the extension and select “Manage extension” from it.

This will open the extension’s details page. Her,e click on the blue toggle button at the top-right side to disable the extension.

2. Disable multiple extensions quickly

As I said before, extensions are usually the cause of problems in your browser. If you are looking to diagnose an issue by disabling extensions, then you need a way to disable/enable multiple extensions quickly. The extensions page in Chrome will let you disable multiple extensions quickly. Here’s how to access it:

Click on the Chrome main menu at the top-right corner and hover the mouse cursor over the “More tools” option. From the side menu that opens up, select “Extensions”.

The extensions page will open, listing all your installed extensions. There will be a blue toggle button next to each extension to quickly disable/enable it.

3. Use a Chrome extension to disable extensions

If you need to disable extensions often, then using a dedicated Chrome extension will be better. The default process to disable extensions in Chrome involves a bunch of clicks and moving to a completely different tab. An extension for this purpose will let you disable Chrome extensions with just two clicks.

Custom Chrome is a great extension for this, as it lets you disable extensions right from its interface. All you have to do is click on the extension’s button, and it will show all your installed extensions with a toggle button next to them to disable them.

You can also click the triangle button next to each extension to access more options, like removing the extension or accessing its options.

If Custom Chrome isn’t for you, you can also give Extensity a try. It also lets you disable extensions from its interface, but it’s much simpler, and you can disable an extension by clicking its name.

4. Disable all the Chrome extensions

There are many instances where disabling all the extensions might be useful. For example, you need to free up some RAM or quickly check if an extension is causing an issue or not. Now, clicking the disable button on each extension isn’t very intuitive, especially if you have dozens of extensions. This is where a Chrome extension can help you.

One Click Extensions Manager is perfect for this purpose. When you click on the extension’s button, it shows the “DISABLE ALL” and “ENABLE ALL” buttons to let you quickly disable/enable all the installed extensions with a single click.

1. Usingthe Recent Calls section

First of all, you can block any number to restrict calls and messages using the recent calls section. You only have to open the Call Log and follow the upcoming steps. 

Hold the Number that you want to block. 

A menu will be shown on your screen.

Tap on the Block Number option.

Confirm by tapping on Block.

On some Android devices, you won’t be able to block a number by tapping on it. So, you can also use the three dots button available in the upper-right corner. For this, you should follow these steps. 

Tap on the Details button.

Select the Block Number option. 

Confirm by tapping on the Block button. 

2. Through the Contact book

IF the above method doesn’t work for your Android phone, you can also look into the contact list to block specific numbers. After doing this, you can follow these steps to get that number blocked.

Look for the Blocked numbers and open that section. 

Open the Blacklist. 

Tap on the + sign.

Write the number you want to block. 

Tap on the Add button.

This is all you have to do when looking to block a number on an Android mobile. It will not take more than 5 minutes of your life, but keep you relaxed after this by restricting unwanted calls.

Sometimes, you will not find any built-in feature to block a number on your Android device, or you don’t like the limitations of the feature. It happens mostly when you have an old versioned phone. To block any number in those devices, you can pick a third-party application. 

There are many apps available on the Google Play Store that have been designed for this purpose. Some prominent names from that list are Mr. Number, Call Blacklist, and Call blocker. You can download any of them to do this task. 

According to my experience, Call Blacklist is a top-notch application for this process. It is a free application that lets you block numbers using multiple ways, including the ability to block numbers from a specific country. You only have to download this app, and it will enable you to add as many numbers as you can.

Since EXIF data at times contains sensitive information such as the location at which the image was recorded, it might violate user privacy and reveal information without his/her consent and knowledge. Therefore ,the user must have control of the EXIF information of his/her images before sharing them with other people on the Internet. Next, I am going to explain how EXIF data can be viewed, edited, and deleted if desired on Android devices.

View EXIF Data on Android

The simplest method of viewing EXIF data on an Android device is to use Google Photos. Just open the image in Google Photos and either swipe up or hit the three vertical dots in the upper right corner, as shown in the figure below, and at the bottom (shown in the image by the green square), you will be able to see the EXIF data of this image. This will give you an idea as to which type of EXIF data has been recorded with your image.

Google Photos does not show all of the detailed EXIF information. Therefore, to view detailed EXIF data and to be able to edit and delete it, you must use third-party tools like Android apps or websites.

Use an Android app or website to edit EXIF data

On the Google Play Store, there are several apps available, both for a fee and free of cost. Some free EXIF editor tools are Photo EXIF Editor, ExifTool, and EXIF editor. These tools let you browse your photo gallery to let you choose your desired image and to view and open its EXIF data in a very organized way and in the form of editable fields, where you can either enter new information or delete the information already present.

If you don’t want to go through the hassle of installing a new app on your phone to deal with EXIF data of your images, you can use one of the many online websites to do the job for you. One such website is Free Online EXIF Viewer. To use this website, just visit this website, upload your file, and after that click on “Analyze”. This will show you a very detailed report regarding the EXIF data of your file in the form of editable fields. You can edit (delete or add information) in these fields, save the changes, and download the image with updated EXIF data.

Conclusions

EXIF data is automatically added to images by digital cameras and may contain information that might compromise user privacy if not taken care of. While with Google Photos you might be able to see some basic EXIF information of your file, to view detailed EXIF information, and to be able to edit it, you will have to turn to third-party solutions, such as third-party Android apps and websites.
