It's Time to Fly with Southwest Airlines

L Word star Leisha Hailey is calling for a boycott on Southwest Airlines after she and her partner Camila Grey were asked to de-plane for kissing.

After a Twitter blast by the celebrity lesbian, Southwest issued a statement defending their employees decision to remove the couple from the plane and apologized for the fact that the couple did not have a positive experience. The situation has brought to light the subject of public displays of affection on commercial airplanes and a call for further action on the part of the airline by LGBT organizations such as GLAAD, of whom Southwest Airlines is the official airline.

After some consideration on our approach to the discrimination of one of our beloved celesbians and her partner, GuerillaLesbians.com would like to encourage everyone in the LGBT community to make it a point to fly Southwest Airlines while wearing LGBT pride items until Southwest changes their stance and offers a more sincere apology to Hailey and Grey. We encourage Southwest passengers to wear shirts with sayings like "I am a lesbian" and other clothing that makes it obvious that you are here, you are queer, and they'd better get used to it! (Without violating dress code of course...)

Considering the fact that Southwest Airlines is encouraging us all to believe that they are an LGBT-friendly operation, let's give them the chance to prove that point and travel thru them with P.R.I.D.E.

Help Stop the "Kill the Gays" Bill in Uganda!

Nicole Miller Lesbian Fashions

A couple years ago I called for a boycott on Nicole Miller fashions, and now I am changing strategy.

I called for the boycott because she was partnered with a company for her cosmetics line, and the company President had ties to a large donation to Yes on Prop. 8...

The company that distributes the cosmetics line for Nicole Miller has not been held accountable because hardly anyone knows about it. Even those that currently do business with this company are not aware of the Prop 8 ties, because the information that is made public is extremely controlled.

Well readers, I am telling you now that the wife of the President of the company that distributes the cosmetics line by Nicole Miller gave a $100,000 to Yes on Prop 8; which is eerily similar to the large donations made by the wife of Erik Prince of the Blackwater corporation.

This company is operating in 13 or 14 different countries right now, and the income they earn by distributing cosmetics made by Nicole Miller contributes to the donation that was made to the Yes on Prop 8 campaign.

Nicole Miller designs are sold in franchise stores around the U.S. and in boutiques around the world.

Income that Nicole Miller designs earns from sales made in their shops and online store contributes to the advancement of their line of cosmetics which this private company profits from.

I sincerely hope that celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Pink, and Tyra Banks learn about the ties Nicole Miller designs has to anti-gay initiatives and boycott her shops, until some form of public stand against anti-gay initiatives is made by Nicole Miller or the company Nicole Miller has chosen to partner with.

Unfortunately even calling a boycott in this situation failed because of the fact that what happens with this company is not done in the public eye.

All a company like this would have to do is change the name of the cosmetics line and buy the rights to the line from Nicole Miller. If that were to happen, anyone who thought of Nicole Miller as being tied to the company's Yes on Prop 8 ties wouldn't consider it a factor because the label wouldn't bear her name. Sigh.

After lots of thought I decided to go back to this company and participate in their program Guerilla Lesbian style.

I've invited many others to join too and get started on what I call the Prop. 8 Home Business. What I propose as a solution to the situation with Nicole Miller, who may not have been aware of the donation considering the company practices, is to use her affiliation with the company as a positive. I would like to see Nicole Miller Fashions become a platform for lesbian visibility in the fashion world and beyond.

With celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Pink, Jessica Simpson, Alicia Keys, Tyra Banks, Paula Abdul, Joss Stone, Lily Allen, Solange, and more wearing her designs it creates a mindset with consumers that her fashion is celeb worthy but with no out celebrity lesbians wearing her fashions she doesn't come across as equality minded.

I am not saying that she isn't equality minded but it just comes across that way... and this is something we can work with!

If we make a conscious decision as lesbians to wear Nicole Miller Fashions, we might be able to change the customer mindset to one that sees her line as equality minded and for everyone. This might not directly affect the need for restitution with the Yes on Prop 8 donation that was made by the company like the Prop 8 Home Business can, but it's definitely a way to make a statement about the influence lesbians have and more.

Work for Target, Best Buy

Are you a Guerilla Lesbian still angry about the donations made to anti-gay Tom Emmer by Target and Best Buy?

If you haven't heard about it, these companies were once thought to be supporters of the LGBT community yet were found to have made major donations such as $150K by Target and $100K by Best Buy to a political group that paid for campaign ads from anti-gay Tom Emmer when he ran for governor of Minnesota. Guerilla Lesbians have given some thought to the outcry by others in the lesbian community in the form of boycotts, product returns, and encouraged the CEO's of Target and Best Buy to make matching donations to pro-gay organizations. Unfortunately there has been no satisfactory result to the donations from these large corporations other than standard apologies from their CEO.

Until then we are asking Guerilla Lesbians to consider a new way to participate in making sure that these large corporations show equal support to our community... get hired by them!

Curves is an international chain of fitness gym's for women specializing in the Curves 30 minute total body workout.

In 2009, there was an article about Curves for women, explaining a partnership between them and a well known anti-gay organization as well as ties to a conservative Christian agenda. Activist sites like Queers United and Lez Get Real posted the topic to their readers and many valid comments were made.
