Back in the day this type of construction material was used before the automobile was even invented, a la the covered wagon days. However, this is 2009 and this Morris does have wood trim. Not too sure what purpose it serves, but it sure adds some cool flare to this antique spotted in Sag Harbor.

Now personally, I’m not quite sure how it is insulting to be called a term that means you are “exceptionally aware of or interested in the latest trends”. But I might be a little offended if someone said I have a “strong sense of alienation from most established social activities and relationships” i.e. a freak. I always kinda just thought it meant someone who spent a lot of money to dress like a homeless person and always had better music on their iPOD than me. I kid (kinda).

In reality though, apparently the hipster pure breed is few and far between (or maybe it’s just those who want to admit they are hipsters are dying out?). So what makes a hipster? Because summer time flannel and wayfarers aren’t enough to play the label game anymore. And Webster’s Dictionary isn’t helping me out. I thought Montauk was a straight shot to Hipster-ville but apparently I was WRONG. So… help? Otherwise I’m breaking out the term hepcat from now on (thanks, thesaurus.com), and that’s just awkward.

INGREDIENTS:

• 2 c. watermelon puree (roughly 1/4 medium size seedless watermelon)
• 1/4 c. lime juice (roughly 1 large lime)
• 6 oz. tequila
• 1 oz. cointreau
• 2/3 c. sugar

DIRECTIONS:

1. Chop the watermelon into small pieces. Using a blender, puree the watermelon.
2. Place the puree in a large mixing bowl.
3. Add lime juice and sugar to watermelon puree. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Add tequila and cointreau and stir well.
4. Fill popsicle molds or Dixie cups. If using a dixie cup, cut small squares of tinfoil to cover the top of each of the cups.
5. Use a sharp small knife and cut small slits in the tops of the tinfoil to insert the popsicle stick.
6. Place the Dixie cups in a flat bottomed container. Place the popsicles in the freezer and wait patiently until frozen.

• When traveling by plane losing you luggage at the airport is one thing, but losing your luggage on the Hampton Luxury liner is another. The driver accidentally left a passenger’s bag on the sidewalk and upon realizing it when they went back it was gone [Twitter]

• After all of the Madam Tong’s hoopla, another Southampton restaurant has fallen victim to tax issues. The popular Mexican restaurant, La Hacienda, was seized by the state for the second time this year [27east]

• The Shinnecock Marlin and Tuna Club is hosting their Annual Inshore Rodeo Fishing Tournament this weekend. My own father will be captaining one of the competing ships so stay tuned for cool pictures and crazy fishing stories to come… [MontaukC]

We think that should all be changed. And Alex Glen, shown here in all his glory, looks like he agrees with us. Afterall, what’s wrong with showing your patriotic spirit? So why not do it 365 days a year? So let’s here it for red, white and blue themed outfits all year round! We’d advise saving those flag speedos for pool parties though - we’re not quite sure how the office would feel about them. Even ours.

While you’ll come out of it with a head full of knowledge you never thought you’d know about ateliers, tycoons, and take-overs, you’ll barely realize you’ve picked up the information along the way because it’s just so damn interesting. The names can be a little tough to follow if you’re not a hardcore fashion junkie but what’s actually important here is the look into an excess driven industry that is constantly rising and falling around us - something the Hamptons can truly relate to. So even if you don’t know your Gucci from your Pucci, I’d still reccommend checking it out.
