Book Club, Talking Threads, Nov. Book Sale

Just a reminder, setup for the November book sale and silent auction will be on Monday, October 31 at 10:00 AM, before the book club meeting at 1:00. Please bring a brown bag lunch, and anything you would like to donate to the book sale or silent auction. The sale will continue through November, and will be taken down after the Friends meeting on Tuesday, November 29.

The next meeting of the Talking Threads will be Thursday, November 17, at 9:00.

Next computer class on Nov. 5th

For the next computer class from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 5th, the topics will be "Keys and Keyboard Shortcuts," and "Laptops and more: How not to break them."

Upcoming computer classes will be held on the first and third Saturdays of the month.

Computer Classes

Free computer classes will be resuming at the Guffey Library on Saturday, September 10, and will continue on selected Saturdays, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the Guffey Library. If at all possible, please come to the class on the 10th, as we will be discussing and finalizing the schedule for upcoming classes, and handing out paper copies of the finalized schedule. This month's book club meeting will be on Monday, September 26. We will be reading "True Grit," along with book clubs around the county.

The next meeting of the "Talking Threads" will be on Thursday, September 15.

Special Book Club

This month's book club meeting on Monday, July 25, will start with a potluck at noon, followed by a book club meeting with Joanne Greenberg. Please do not bring cookies, as we have leftovers from the July 4th sale that need to be eaten. The book for this month is Joanne Greenberg's "Simple Gifts."

Computer Class, Upcoming Events

There will be a free computer class held at the library on Saturday, July 2, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. We will be discussing topics and dates for upcoming classes, and answering any computer-related questions anyone has.

Anyone who is interested can sign up now at the library to help with the 4th of July Book and Cookie Sale fundraiser.

The next meeting of "Talking Threads" will be held on Thursday, July 21.

The next meeting of the Book Club is scheduled for Monday, July 25, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.

Summer reading group, Friends of the Library meeting, and more

Summer reading group begins Thursday, June 9. This year's theme is "One World, Many Stories"

The next scheduled computer class at the library is Saturday, May 28, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. There will not be a class held on the following Saturday, June 4.

The next Talking Threads session is scheduled for Thursday, June 16.

The quarterly meeting of the Friends of the Guffey Library will be held on Tuesday, May 31, at 11:00 AM in the new room at the Guffey Library.

One Day Only! Book sale at the library on Saturday, April 16, from 10:00 to 4:00.

Test

This is a test of the new manual feed and newsletter. After having problems with the automatically-generated service I had been using, I have decided to switch to making the email and feed entries myself. This will allow much greater flexibility, and hopefully make the newsletters a bit more readable. Instead of "The next meeting will be on Monday, April 25. The next class is scheduled for Saturday, April 2, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM," I can say, "The next meeting of the Book Club will be on Monday, April 25. There is also another computer class scheduled for Saturday, April 2, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Guffey Library."
