Apple’s Verizon iPhone 4 Fails To Get Consumer Recommendation

Consumer Reports, a well-known product review and comparison organization is refusing to recommend the recently released Verizon iPhone 4 due to antenna(signals problem) issues. Consumer Reports is reporting that the Verizon Wireless-compatible iPhone 4 also suffers from poor reception issue just like the AT&T GSM iPhone 4.
Just a recall, in June 2010 theproduct review magazine refuses to render its recommendation to Apple on its GSM iPhone 4 due to its widely publicized poor reception issues. However, as we all know tis doesn’t affect the sales of the iPhone 4. In fact the company successfully sold more the 16,000 units of iPhone 4 in just a short span of time.
Consumer Reports is reporting:
The Verizon iPhone 4 has a problem that could cause the phone to drop calls, or be unable to place calls, in weak signal conditions, Consumer Reports engineers have found in lab tests.
The problem is similar to the one we confirmed in July with the AT&T version of Apple’s newest smart phone. It can occur when you hold either version of the phone in a specific but quite natural way in which a gap in the phone’s external casing is covered. The phone performs superbly in most other respects, and using the iPhone 4 with a case can alleviate the problem.
Consumer Reports conducted a series of special test on Verizon iPhone 4 and 5 other Verizon smartphones, such as the HTC Droid Incredible, Motorola Droid 2 Global, Motorola Droid X, Samsung Fascinate, and LG Ally and they have concluded that the only smartphone fail to pass the test is the Verizon CDMA iPhone 4.
Because of the tests result, they’re not endorsing the Verizon iPhone 4 in their list of recommended smartphones.
As noted earlier, there have not been widespread reports of reception difficulties with the Verizon iPhone 4, and Verizon’s network, unlike AT&T’s, has received above-average scores from our readers for the reliability of its voice service in the past. (Those scores reflect data gathered before the launch of the Verizon iPhone 4.) But given our findings, we believe the possibility exists for individual users to experience the problem since low signal conditions are unavoidable when using any cell-phone network.
Recently, we informed you that the tech site iLounge discovered that the recently released Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 also suffers from “Antennagate” just like the AT&T GSM iPhone 4 – depleted substantial cellular signal when held in a “death grip” position. Additionally, iLounge also noticed that that the Wi-Fi reception is affected hen held is a “death hug” position.

Step 1: Download the official Android 2.3.3 update for Nexus S from here.

iPhone developer iH8sn0w has just released a new version of IReb which is compatible with all iOS 4.2.1 devices. You can use it to bypass 1604, 1603, 1602, 1601, 1600 error in iTunes during custom iOS 4.2.1 firmware restore which has been created using either Sn0wbreeze or PwnageTool.

iREB 4.0.x/4.1/4.2.1 [r3] supports the following devices:

iPhone 2G/3G/3G[S]/4
iPod Touch 1G/2G/3G/4
iPad
Apple TV 2

Here’s how to use it:

Step 1: Start iTunes 10.1.2 and put your iOS device into DFU mode.

iPhone/iPad/iPod touch:

Connect your iOS device with your Computer.
Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds.
Now release the Power button but continue holding the Home button for 10 more seconds.
You device should now be in DFU mode.

Apple TV 2G:

Connect your Apple TV with your Computer via microUSB.
Now reboot your Apple TV by holding down Menu + Down buttons together for around 6 seconds.
After reboot, immediately hold Menu + Play until you see the message in iTunes saying that Apple TV in recovery mode is detected.

Now press and hold left “alt” button (“Shift” button on Windows) on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update”) button in the iTunes and then release the “Shift” button. Select the required custom .ipsw file and restore it.

That’s it! iTunes should now be able to restore your iOS device to the latest iOS 4.2.1 custom firmware without any problems. Hopefully you wont get any 16xx errors during restore this time around!

You have to install Internet download manager version (6.04 or 6.05) and then follow the step to register it properly.

Step 1. Exite IDM from taskbar

Step 2. Run the patch file ( Download Here)

Step 3. Click Patch server check and then select IDM where the install file located.
