Heavily slanted towards music, the South Austin Museum of Pop Culture aims to preserve and exhibit art and artifacts that reflect Austin's influence on the larger realm of popular culture. Located on South Lamar in the venerated 78704 zip code, the SAMPC has permanent collections dating back to the 1960s, and mount exhibitions featuring the works of some of Austin's most exciting new artists.

The bulk of their collection is dedicated to what they consider to be the quintessential Austin art form, the music concert poster. Featuring works by Guy Juke, Billy Perkins, Danny Garrett, Henry Gonzales, Sam Yeates, Jim Franklin, and many others, the SAMPC poster collection makes a serious case for including Austin's artists in the pantheon of poster art codified by the Fillmore in San Francisco. These works tell the history of Austin music in colorful, interpretive ways.

Other art forms are found at the SAMPC as well as poster art, including a permanent exhibit by University of Texas graduate, G.L. McElhaney. This multi-talented artist studied under sculptors Charles Umlauf and David Deming, and his work includes bronze, marble and hydrostone cast sculptures. Gonzales conceived and helped create the Dia de los Muertos wall, a permanent fixture in the parking lot beside the museum which is lined with dozens of hand-painted portraits of deceased musicians and artists from Texas, all adorned with flowers and offerings.

The museum features paintings, album covers, portraits and Ken Featherston's giant "Peyote Dream" mural, which was recently extracted from a private home. An entire wall of the museum was torn down and built up again to keep Featherston's work in one piece. One of the most iconic artists highlighted by the SAMPC is Texas-born Gilbert Shelton, whose famous comics, such as "The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers," are known world-wide. His work has appeared in Help!, Playboy, Zap and Rip Off comics, as well as on the walls of the Vulcan Gas Company club.

Initially a project of the Phogg Foundation, the SAMPC got its start as part of a citywide poster exhibition during South by Southwest in 2004. Shortly thereafter, they mounted the first of many one-man shows, featuring work by the late artist/historian Jack "Jaxon" Jackson. These focused exhibitions have become the trademark of the museum, and they continue to produce up to eight exhibits and five events per year. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, they work with a part-time, all-volunteer staff, including many of the artists who are still painting, drawing and beautifying the city - truly a labor of love for all.

Now a membership organization governed by a Board of Directors, their community outreach efforts are split between adding to and improving their holdings and programs, and the difficult but essential task of raising funds to support a grass-roots non-profit museum. Although there is no admission, donations are suggested, and memberships of all different levels are available.

The Austin area offers a wide variety of activities to entertain even the most difficult audience. During the summer months, your primary goal will be trying to stay cool, and Austin and the surrounding area offers swimming holes a-plenty.

The iconic Barton Springs in Zilker Park is open from early spring to late autumn. Sometimes called the soul of Austin, this spring fed pool maintains a steady 68 degrees in all seasons. And don't forget to impress your visitors with a promise of seeing the extremely rare salamander that is only found in the spring and pool at Barton Creek.

The Deep Eddy Pool, near downtown in west Austin, boasts a huge wading area for the tiny people and water temperatures that never rise above 72 degrees. Throughout the summer, they host Splash Party Movie Nights, where family pleasing movies are played on a big screen while viewers float in the pool.

If you are willing to go a bit further afield, then you really should make a visit to Hamilton Pool, about 40 minutes outside of Austin off of Highway 71. The natural spring is found in a grotto that was formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed thousand of years ago. The result is a very family friendly and secluded swimming spot that seems like a fairy wonderland. Because the ecosystem around the springs is fragile, the park closes when the 100-car parking lot is full, so you must call ahead.

Further impress your guests by stopping off at the Salt Lick on your way home, renowned for what some would argue is the best barbeque in Texas. It definitely provides the proper atmosphere, located as it is in the middle of nowhere about 12 miles south of US 290 West. The menu includes brisket, chicken, ribs, sausage, and the ubiquitous peach and berry cobblers. Take note, however, that it is located in a dry spot in Hays County, so you have to bring your own alcoholic beverages.

Blue Hole, located in Wimberly, Texas, has been named one of the top ten swimming holes in Texas. The land was privately owned, but in 2005 was purchased by the village of Wimberly and is being developed into a regional park. Another spot appropriate for fairies, the Blue Hole is surrounded by old growth cypress trees and boasts a rare ecosystem of natural grasses, wildflowers, birds, reptiles and insects. And its proximity to downtown Wimberly means that after cooling off in the springs, you can proceed to shop `til you drop in one of the towns dozens of specialty stores and art galleries. Shops are open Monday, Thursday, Friday and on the weekends. Market Day takes place the first Saturday of the month from April through December, when more than 400 vendors put antiques, collectibles, arts and crafts up for sale.

Krause Springs, another stunning swimming hole great for families, boasts clear and shallow waters. Located about 30 miles from Austin off of Highway 71, the pool is listed on the National Register of historic places and is also shaded by large cypress tress. You can picnic and camp at the pool, and there are admissions fees.

The Copacabana beach resort itself is one of the greatest vacation getaways in the entire world, situated on the borderline between a tropical refuge and the vivid world metropolis of the famous Rio de Janeiro. Here you will find not only the best Rio apartments that are located near the beaches but also perfect transportation connections to and from other beaches: taxies, buses and vans.
We will continue this article by presenting a brief review of some famous Rio de Janeiro beaches:

Barra da Tijuca – the longest beach in all Rio, it measures 12 kilometers of clean sand. Barra da Tijuca is also often frequented by refreshing waves which invite tourists to a unique surfing experience. If you get hungry, you should know that on the first kilometers of the beach you will find seafood restaurants, bars and the “barracas” – tents which simply put are food & drink stalls, right on the beach;

Botafogo – soccer fan? This is the ideal place for you as you will find a lot of Botafogo soccer shirts here due to the reason that the suburb has its own football team which is in heated rivalry with Vasco da Gamma and Fluminense. The beach is filled with young people playing beach football or beach foot volley all day long. Here you will find bike renting possibilities known as ciclovia which can be a very fun way to see Rio. If you stop right in the middle of the sidewalk, you will have one of the most breathtaking views ofRio de Janeiro;

Flamengo – a rather small-sized beach but an ideal place to relax and practice sports. In the past it has gone by several names: Uruçumirim Beach (Indian name), Sapateiros’(Shoe man beach), Carioca Beach, Marinheiros beach and the Sapocaitoba beach. In the past it was the place where ships used to come to get water. There are quite a few apartments in Rio de Janerio that offer convenient access to this beach;

Grumari – this is the most unspoiled beach in all Rio mainly because it hasn’t been “discovered” yet. This is a very popular place for soap operas sceneries. The beach is an area of environmental protection of the city and buses, some vehicles are forbidden. The green forest is entirely preserved. The sea is strong but on the sand, at the times that the sea is wavy, the waves come and give origin to some “natural pools”;

Ipanema – one of the most popular beaches in all Rio – the place where all the beautiful women can be found, no doubt about it. Also known as the little Paris of Brazil, Ipanema is known for the avant-gardes theaters, art galleries, bookshops and art movie theaters. A lot of sightseeing opportunities can be found here, that is why it is so popular.

All in all, the best beaches in the world can be found here. Access to them is very easy as the apartments in Rio de Janeiro are very close to the beaches. If you are planning your summer vacation, take Rio de Janeiro into consideration, you won’t regret it.

Overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Cartagena de Indias is one of South America’s most beautiful and vibrant cities and this hotel captures much of the Colombian city’s spirit with its beguiling shabby-chic grandeur.

The hotel is small, with eight high-ceilinged bedrooms. Except to find murals, ancient floor-to-ceiling windows, wicker chests, old-carved-wood headboards, Persian and Columbian rugs, Moroccan ashtrays, and lamps from Seville. You may get a vast concrete bathtub, fashionably flaking plaster, or grand French furniture. Amid all this period style there are still state-of-the-art features such as air-conditioning and plasma televisions.

La Passion is more than just a style. There is substance, too, especially in the rooftop pool that is subtly lit at night and gives striking views of the city’s monuments and the sea beyond. The hotel has its own speedboat that can whisk guests to nearby islands. There is even a small wooden fishing boat hung from the ceiling for guests to use as a swinging sofa.

As far as the influences are concerned besides the original indigenous cultures, we should mention Portugal mainly because of the very strong colonial ties with the Portuguese Empire from which Brazil got the language, Catholic religion, the legal system and other cultural traditions. Brazil’s culture derives not only from other European influences but also from some South American, African and also Asian cultures. As you can see, theBrazilian culture is a mix of a variety of cultures spread all over the world.

Brazilians have natural affectionate human warmth, like nothing you have seen before and most of them are very happy and have a rather enthusiastic, spontaneous nature – which they show at every celebration (and their number is quite remarkable). As far as their religion is concerned, experts affirm that Brazil is the largest Roman Catholic country in the entire world but the truth is that you will find a great variety of religious beliefs and practices here. Officially, Brazil was a catholic country since the 16th right until 1889 whenthe Portuguese Empire disappeared. The 1889 constitution guarantees full religious freedom and since then, a wide variety of beliefs have been practiced. However, in 1996 a study made by CNBB also known as National Conference of Brazilian Bishops showed that approximately 80% of the inhabitants declared themselves as Roman Catholics. Many of the Brazilian people are married and baptized in the Catholic Church but they don’t attend Sunday Mass quite often.

Candomble – a religion that is found in Brazil was brought here by the slaves that came from Benin and Nigeria. According to the Catholic officials and the slave-owners, the African slaves had to be converted to the Christian religion and as a consequence, banned from performing Candomble rituals. In order to maintain their traditional practices but at the same time contenting their owners, the slaves coupled their deities with corresponding Catholic personalities.

Protestantism – over the last decades, this religion has grown in popularity quite rapidly. The 2000 Census stated that about 15% of the Brazilian inhabitants identify themselves as being Protestants and approximately 85% of them are Evangelical or Pentecostal. The Lutherans and the Baptists make up the bulk of the remaining Protestants and they are centered in the southern part of Brazil, where the majority of German and northern European immigrants concentrated during the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

Moving on to the literature aspect of Brazil, the most popular writer is without any doubt Jorge Amado (1912-2002). He was born in Salvador and his writings captured the personality and spirit of Bahias. His most successful novels include: The Violent Land (1944), Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon (1958), Shepherds of the Night (1964) and Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (1966). Another well-known Brazilian writer was Machado de Assis (1839-1908). He was a novelist that had a deep understanding of human relations. In the 20th century, other notables Brazilian writers were born, like: Clarice Lispector, Garciliano Ramos, Cecilia Meireles and others as well.

All things considered Brazil is a wonderful and interesting country at the same that and that is why every year, millions and millions of tourists visit it.

The boat sails the way round with 8 stops after every 15-30 min from early February to early January.

You can start the tour from the Bourdonnais quay with the nearby Eiffel Tower (la Tour Eiffel) as France's symbol and Ecole Militaire opposite the Trocadero square on the other bank. These places are accessible by subway or bus. If you stay outside Paris, you can also reach the Eiffel Tower by the RER line.

The 324-m high Eiffel Tower was erected on Champ de Mars opposite the Iena bridge across the Seine. It served as a temporary structure and entrance arch for Exposition Universelle, the World Fair in 1889. For over 40 years it had been the world's highest structure until 1930 when excelled by New York City's Chrysler Building.

The Military School (Ecole Militaire) was founded by Louis XV in 1750, initiated by Joseph Paris (known as Duverney) and supported by Madame de Pompadour, for military cadets from poor families. In 1784 Napoleon Bonaparte studied there graduating in 1 year instead of 2.

Palais de Chaillot was built up to the 1937 World Fair instead of former Palais du Trocadero. The palace is 2 huge pavilions stretching out in arcs with a platform between. It sides with the Trocadero garden-park complex with stairs and Paris' biggest fountains. Palais de Chaillot hosts some museums - the Museum of Man, the Marine Museum and the Museum of French Monuments.

Mooring to the Solferino quay, you can visit Musee d'Orsay - a museum of fine and applied arts and the world's largest collection of the 1848-1914 European painting and sculpture.

At the Malaquais quay you'll visit St-Germain-des-Pres, a Benedictine abbey (the oldest in Paris) and Roman architectural monument. The St-Germain-des-Pres church is the city's oldest. Its chapels and nave date back to the 11th-12th centuries.

Landed at the Montebello quay, you'll see Notre-Dame de Paris. The cathedral is by right considered Paris' heart combining Roman style echoes with Gothic style innovations. The quay features a mini-market with rare literature, old posters and pictures.

At the Saint-Bernard quay (the 2nd terminal) you can walk round a plant garden, Jardin des Plantes. The Botanic Garden also includes the Bagatelle park in the Boulogne forest, its Auteuil hothouses, a flower park in the Vincennes forest and its Breuil school arboretum.

At the route terminal the Batobus boat turns back to stop first at the L'Hotel de Ville quay near the Hotel de Ville palace built in 1874-1882. The palace stands on Place de Greve, a former medieval square and now the Paris City Hall.

The Louvre quay lets you inside one of the world's most famous and biggest museums with the same name, Musee du Louvre. Its collection covers antiquity to 1848, West Europe to Iran, Greece, Egypt and the Middle East.

The last stop but one is the Champs-Elysees embankment with Pont Alexandre III, one of Paris' most beautiful bridges. Grand Palais (the Great Palace of Fine Arts) nearby was erected in 1897 for the World Fair of April 15 - November 12, 1900 instead of the former Industry Palace. Grand Palais is a major cultural and exhibition center.

Back at the starting point, you'll face the Eiffel Tower again. Enjoy it at night, lit by thousands of lamps and whose top-positioned lighthouse shines 80 km out.

Not to buy tickets at every stop, you can purchase a 1, 2 or 5-day pass for 12, 16 and 19 Euro correspondingly. When staying in Paris for long, buy a yearly pass for just 55 Euro. With a city transport pass (Carte Etudiant, Imagine R, Carte Orange, Integrale, Emeraude or Amethyste), you can buy a special 33-% off pass.

To visit museums and travel round the city, use Paris Visite Card, a city and suburban pass for 1, 2, 3 or 5 days. Depending on the type, it covers zones 1-3 (Paris with suburbs for 9-28 Euro) or 1-6 (Ile-de-France for 18-48 Euro). Paris Visite Card also provides a discount to many museums, Batobus (together with other passes), the Montmartre mini-train and L'open Tour tourist buses.

But thus far, one does not have to travel far from Hanoi to find vivid, poignant reminders of the last few centuries.

Just 15 km south of downtown capital city is Cu Da Village in Thanh Oai District, a living vestige of northern Vietnamese culture.

Cu Da is not only famous for its mien (vermicelli made from a kind of tuber similar to cassava) and tuong (soy sauce) but also for large old houses and villas with architecture typical of northern Vietnam.

Together with Duong Lam Village in Son Tay Town, Cu Da is one of only two old villages in Hanoi that still offers an ideal place to explore the culture of the Red River Delta region.

Duong Lam Village is famous as the birthplace of many feudal mandarins and intellectuals, and Cu Da Village was the land of rich merchants. Hundreds of years ago, when almost all villages in Vietnam were still mired in poverty, these two were already well-known as prosperous villages that had big brick houses and clean, paved roads.

The extrovert merchants of Cu Da also built many French-style villas, a popular trend at the turn of the 20th century.

Visitors to the village will still be surprised, pleasantly so, by the charm of old Vietnamese-style houses and the French villas, with vaulted gates and roads paved with slanting bricks.

The village boasts about 200 such old houses and villas, of which 50 remain virtually unchanged since their heyday. The main village road runs along the Nhue River and every small lane has a vaulted gate. The village also has a pagoda that has been recognized as a national relic.

The houses, the roads and the pagoda present the picture of a rich northern Vietnamese village at the beginning of the 20th century.

According to village elders, Cu Da has existed for hundreds of years. In the past, its proximity to the Nhue River, Ha Dong Town and Hanoi (once known as Thang Long) emphasized its important location.

Nhue River used to be a busy waterway for traders between Hanoi and Cu Da, making the village a hub for rice, fabric and other commodities supplied to Hanoi.

Not surprisingly, many villagers became very rich and the village was soon built like a town where, unlike other hamlets in Vietnam, all the houses and villas had their own a numbers.

We visited house No. 11 owned by Trinh The Sung which was built in 1874, featuring architecture typical of the Nguyen Dynasty. It is low, made mainly of wood, with delicate carvings on the beams and pillars. The roof is made of yin-yang tiles, and an ancestral altar, panels and parallel scrolls inscribed with poetry can be found in the middle of the house.

Not too far away, the two-story house of Dinh Van Tuong's family at No. 152 is a French-style villa built more than 100 years ago by Tu Bang, a rich merchant.

Tuong bought the house about 30 years ago. The house's walls, yard, and gate are covered with moss. Its first story is decorated with occidental patterns and the floor paved with stone tiles. The second floor was ruined in 1947 in a battle against French colonial troops. Although the house has clearly suffered the ravages of war and other wear and tear, it packs a lot of charm for visitors.

Many other old houses in this village have similar stories. However, the old houses in Cu Da are not as lucky as their peers in Duong Lam where they have been recognized and preserved.

Visitors to Cu Da Village cannot help feeling sorry that many cultural heritages are apparently sinking into irreparable disrepair.

HOW TO GET THERE

The village is only 15 km south of Hanoi's center, so the easiest way to get there is by motorbike, following National Highway No. 1.

Cu Da Village is very close to popular tourist destinations like Ha Thai Lacquer Village, Quat Dong Embroidery Village or Nhi Khe Carpentry Village, so visitors can explore all of them in one trip.

Boating and sailing is one of the most popular , with the bays and coves of the British Virgin Island, the Grenadines and St. Lucia offering sanctuary to chartered or crewed boats alike. Diving is another Caribbean speciality with some of the world's sites located around the Turks and Caicos, Guadaloupe, Dominica and Tobago. Snorkelling is also widely available amongst the regions many designated marine parks.
Caribbean cuisine is something to be also, with indigenous influences having been combined with those from Africa, India and Spain. Dishes such as Pepper Pot are common throughout the Windward islands and you are also likely to come across such delicacies as salt fish and ackee, jerk chicken and crapoud. And no visit to Barbados is complete without a visit to the famous Oistins fish-fry.

The country is separated into six major districts: Nicosia (the capital city), Fam Agusta, Kyrenia, Larnaca, Limassol, and Paphos.

Due to its location within Europe visitors will notice influences from both Greece and Turkey in Cyprus, from sun soaked Mediterranean beaches with sands to villages and ruins of ancient civilizations. Historically, Cyprus has been an island of invasions and conquer, all of which have left a rich mark on the Cypriot architecture. However, throughout generations Cyprus has changed and is today a modern country that offers a time to its visitors.

The great thing about visiting Walt Disney World is the wide array of choices. For instance you could choose a budget themed resort, choose something in the mid-range or go all out with a deluxe hotel.

You may be wondering about which Walt Disney World resort would best fit your needs. In fact, there are rooms ranging from $82/night to $385/night, depending on what you want to spend. Be aware that the added benefits you'll receive totally make the slightly higher price worth your while!

Round-trip transportation from and to the Orlando International Airport and hassle-free luggage handling from your home town is what Disney's Magical Express provides for all Disney resort guests. Say good-bye to your luggage when you check in at the airport nearest your home because the next time you see it will be outside your hotel room at Walt Disney World.

Year of a Million Dreams Celebration. Come celebrate latest hoopla, see new attractions like "Finding Nemo--The Musical" and Laugh Floor Comedy Club, and maybe even win one of the million "dreams" that Disney is awarding.

When we arrived at Disney World in December 2006, our jaws collectively hit the floor. Practically everything was decorated for the season, from the street lights lining Main Street U.S.A. to the topiaries, lobbies and restaurants at the various resorts to the individual characters' costumes and CSR outfits. For the first time on a Disney vacation, I was at a complete loss over what to see and experience first.

Go to a party night at the Magic Kingdom (Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, or Disney's Pirate and Princess Party). On specially selected nights, the Magic Kingdom stays open for several hours after closing to those with tickets to the party. Characters are in full force on party nights, and are often dressed in special attire. Don't go see them as soon as they arrive, but wait until about an hour before the night is over.

The Disney Value Resort stands for the category of the cheapest resorts. There are names that truly define this category like, All Star Movies Resort, Disney's Pop Century Resort, All Sport's Resort, and All Star Music Resort.

In the Walt Disney World Theme Parks, certain alternative-fuel vehicles were specifically selected for their reduced emissions. For example, because the Kilimanjaro Safaris vehicles travel through animal habitats at Disney's Animal Kingdom, propane is used instead of gas or diesel for its better emission properties. In the enclosed Utilidors (backstage tunnels) at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Epcot, zero-emission electrical vehicles are prevalent.

All-Star Music Resort - This resort is for the music lover with music themed buildings including the Calypso, Rock Inn, Jazz Inn, Country Fair and Broadway Hotel themed buildings. The music theme is carried over into the pool area as there is a guitar shaped pool and a piano shaped pool.

Since you're reading this, chances are that you do. Also, you'd likely want to know whether you need a passport to visit Canada. If you don't have a passport yet, but are planning to visit Canada soon, you will appreciate this article. We'll walk through your travel requirements when visiting Canada. If you're going to travel to Canada by land, you can use your passport card. All you need to do is to present this at the US-Canada border as proof of your identity and your citizenship. Getting yourself a US passport card is a lot like your passport book. Simply fulfill the necessary requirements to get one.

Vancouver's Winter Olympic Games are only a year away now so this time is very special for Vancouver residents and for neighbouring communities such as Whistler and Squamish. Hundreds of thousands of tourists from around the world will converge on Vancouver, Squamish and Whistler and will discover why this is perhaps the best vacation spot in Canada. The fall season for Vancouver is not like other parts of Canada which can be chilly. Instead the Vancouver area enjoys very moderate temperatures right into winter. When temperatures fall in the great Canadian northwest, many see Vancouver as a nice place to get away for a break. Calgarians and those living in the British Columbia interior will drive to Vancouver for a short vacation. And when they arrive, there is plenty to do.

Applying to visit Canada is a two step process: one must obtain a visitor's visa at the consular office abroad, and then be granted admissibility by the immigration officer at the border. Various documentation and processing fees are involved in the application process. During the visa application, the prospective visitor has to satisfy the visa officer that he or she does not have immigrant intent with the application. There may be an interview to verify the reasons for the visit, the willingness to leave Canada, and to address questions of overall admissibility. At the border, the visitor must have a passport with a valid date, since a document is needed which allows re-entry to the visitor's original country. The principles behind admission to Canada are similar to those of the United States. A visitor has to satisfy similar criteria to be issued a visa, and must satisfy the immigration officials at the port of entry to the country. Based on various factors such as family ties, one's employment in the home country, and financial independence, immigration officers have to be satisfied that the visitor is merely seeking temporary entry to Canada.

The only trouble with Canada is that you can't see more of it in your vacation time. But there is a way around this issue that is open to some people depending on the nation they herald from for example. If you think about it, a perfect way to see more of Canada would be to live there right? Well, how about moving to live and work in Canada on a temporary visa and spending your free time exploring the countryside and the cities and the sights and the flora and the fauna? Many people can apply for working visas to spend some time in Canada.

This beautiful principality by the sea continues to resonate with significant activity. Monaco's stately history and modern initiatives still make it a prime destination of choice for holidaymakers.

Monaco, known for its jet-set lifestyle, has a measured approach to the turmoil in the world economy. While not immune to what's going on, the principality is certainly resilient. In fact, Monaco saw an increase in attendance this year for the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters tennis tournament. This increase in attendance comes when many sporting venues globally are experiencing drops in attendance.

Monaco's measured approach is in the form of businesses offering additional amenities to traditional products and services. The worst thing Monaco could do is appear as "Monaco on Sale." No big price reductions are happening in Monaco. This would take away from the unique character of the region. It would be akin to a French Riviera restaurant of exquisite cuisine offering fast food in a carton to go.

Monaco still means tourists paying significant euros to enjoy splendor. It still has its culture of affluence and aura of extravagance. While many tourist regions are seeing fewer middle-class holidaymakers, Monaco still has the rich, and even the somewhat well to do whom they can count on.

This doesn't mean they're taking things for granted though. To remain competitive, Monaco businesses still promote premium service and famous events to keep the cash rolling in. Their selling point is world-class events in a luxurious setting that one should experience at least once.

A prime example is the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. Every May, ultra-sophisticated Grand Prix racecars zip through, around, and up and down the byways of Monaco. Celebrities, including Hollywood stars, supermodels and sports figures, attend this event.

Monaco's economy depends on this F1 race, and local businesses embrace it wholeheartedly. Certainly, the race itself is spectacular. However, Monaco's authorities and businesses also know the race is a worldwide advertisement for this Mediterranean vista.

Formula 1 cars speed along the stunning harbor area and through the tunnel as part of the course. Global television audiences see before them the quaint principality and its impressive Monte Carlo casino.

As the rich and famous cavort, holidaymakers around the globe get a sense of the special character of Monaco. This results in those vital tourist euros pouring into Monaco each year.

Essentially, this luxurious aura is what helps Monaco weather tough economic times. Many tourist regions are cookie-cutter examples of other tourist areas. Think of some tropical locales that offer beaches and oceanfront. Then think of a host of others that offer the same thing.

Located between the South of France and Italy, Monaco is different. Monaco has its fine architecture and rich House of Grimaldi royal tradition. People know the story of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly, the Princess of Monaco.

The Principality of Monaco is a constitutional monarchy. Prince Albert II is the head of state, the Sovereign Prince of Monaco. He is the son of the late Prince Rainier III. The executive branch consists of a Minister of State. This individual oversees a four-member Council of Government.

In this regal setting reside business barons, movie stars, F1 drivers and other famous people. Of course, Monaco has a reputation for its tax haven status. This in and of itself contributes to the principality's exclusivity. Say the word Monaco, and immediately images of wealth and abundance comingle.

Rich with history, Monaco, in addition to the Monte Carlo casino has the Place du Palais. This attraction offers a splendid panoramic view overlooking the Port and Monte-Carlo. Every day in front of the palace's main entrance, visitors can watch the grand changing of the guard ceremony.

Another fine attraction in Monaco is the Oceanographic Museum & Aquarium. Inaugurated in 1910 by its founder, Prince Albert I, this facility took 11 years to build. Monaco also boasts its Monte-Carlo Opera, Monte-Carlo Ballet and The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, Monaco is home to AS Monaco, its soccer team that plays in the French Soccer League.

Monaco maintains its pre-eminent position as a magnificent tourist destination. The principality offers elegance, grandeur and a dash of blazing F1 speed each year to tourists. Monaco, with old world charm and 21st century sensibilities, is a tourist destination extraordinaire that's always in fashion.

With the returning tourists coming back year after year as well as people discovering the delights of camping for the first time
Ravello Festival organises classical music performances in the town’s churches, gardens and piazzas.

The main venue includes a suspended stage, built around the gardens of the villa and hanging above a cliff 350m (1,150ft) above the sea. A full musical teaching programme runs in parallel with a series of concerts.

Every year the Ravello Festival features what they term a Wagnerian Leitmotiv , which serves as the overall theme for the summer. The aim of the Ravello Festival is to generate a special atmosphere which caresses the spirit. Recheck, whether you have taken all your necessary documents, belongings, credit and debit cards and medication. In case of destination abroad, do not forget to change your currency to the local currency, of the country you are leaving for, at the foreign exchange.
Where shall we go? Shall we take the children? Do we travel by car, by plane, or by train? Sometimes, reaching these decisions can be painstaking; and if either the husband or wife gives in, and the decision turns out badly, the temptation to say “I told you so!” is almost irresistible.

The thing to do is make every able-bodied member of the family involved and responsible for the trip.

Destinations and expectations
The first step is to hold a family conference on where to go and what to do. Discuss the expectations involved in the trip and the destination.

The next step is to hold rehearsals, if you wish. This is most effective when your children are still young and are clueless on what to do. If you are going camping, pitch a tent in the backyard, and sleep in it, just as you expect to do on vacation. Cook meals over a campfire, too. Be sure that every one in the family has his or her own chores to perform and understands the discomforts as well as the joys of the great outdoors.

Expenditures
Most vacations cost more than anticipated. Questions arise: Who lacked the foresight or who has spent too much money? How are the bills going to be paid? Unless you are prepared for the worst, you are likely to become panicky as the money evaporates; husband and wife may start accusing each other of extravagance. Every vacationing couple should make a detailed budget, listing everything from shelter and meals to souvenir postcards and trinkets. Once the necessities have been taken care of, assign a definite spending allowance for each family member.

Vacation and the mother’s role
Counselors have observed that vacations are hardest on the wife, especially if she is also a mother. One trouble with most vacations is that the mother gets no relief; she simply has the same housekeeping and cooking duties under conditions more trying than those at home.

To liberate wives, a “dual vacation” is suggested – the regular annual family trip followed by two or three glorious days in whichthe children are left at home with a baby-sitter or relative, then husband and wife go off to a place where the wife can sleep late, lounge around the pool or beachside, nap, eat out, and in general recuperate from the rigors of the other trip.

Don’t be too uptight
Many vacations fail because people try too hard. Men in particular often go at their vacations with the same intensity that they devote to their jobs. It is not unusual for a man to get his family up at daybreak, drive 500 miles and then hurry to set up camp before night falls. It’s no wonder that this man and wife are soon screaming at each other.

Plan a shorter trip, drive fewer miles each day, pre-plan the stops. Avoid the worry of finding a place to stay.

People often have very strong feelings about vacation-time activity. If a wife is fed up with cooking, the husband is well advised to take her to restaurants for vacation meals. If a husband may want nothing more than to sit quietly at a resort poolside and catch up with his reading, the wife can go sight seeing or shopping for local goods.

Children’s activities
Young children are easily bored on a long automobile or plan ride. Make sure that you have something for them to read or games to play.

Pets
If you or your pet can’t last a day without each other, make sure that your vacation accommodation is pet-friendly, otherwise, leave them with a friend, relative or veterinarian.

Couple privacy
Many couples fail to plan for privacy. Instead, they commit themselves to sleeping in the same tent, camper or hotel room with the children. At least, plan an occasional night alone, with the children in a separate room.

Warning
Visiting your in-laws can be dangerous.

Many who are about to hit the slopes for the first time experience bouts of nervousness and fear. Don’t let this unsettling feeling hinder your holiday plans. The best way to learn any new skill properly is to undergo some training by a professional in the field. This can apply to skiing too. Signing up for beginner ski instructions is a great way to start. There are a lot of adjustments to make as you experience this for the first time. Make the best of it and have fun. I remember the first time putting on ski boots which keep your legs bent to a small degree. I thought it was the strangest sensation not being able to stand up straight. Laugh a lot as you learn these new techniques. Even when you fall laugh with your ski buddies and enjoy these beginning experiences. The learning curb can in some regards be the most memorable moments that you will laugh about many years down the road.

A skiing winter excursion will help you refresh and renew your mind in a way only the great outdoors can. When you first arrive at your holiday ski resort you may be overcome by the large ski slopes. Do not fear. Your ski instructor will help you learn the basics on what is referred to as the bunny slopes. These are small hills with a very low grade which will take the panic out of beginning and build great confidence in your mind toward your new sporting adventure. Amidst your learning make sure you take the time to get a hot chocolate and enjoy the ambiance setting around the fireplace at your ski lodge resort.

Your ski holidays can include so much more than just skiing. Make sure to take extra time in seeking out just the right location for your holiday. While at the resort of your choice make sure to take in the local happenings surrounding your great winter adventure. After hitting the slopes you may like to take a break and enjoy a little time for souvenir shopping to help remember your momentous ski holiday.

When you finally get the courage to ride the ski lift to the top you will experience yet another natural high in the process. This whole process is great for overcoming many of our fears. You have to start by sliding off the ski lift chair and keeping your balance as you reach the snow covered mountain top. The ski lift does not completely stop so you will need to hone up on your timing skills to get off at precisely the right time.

You no doubt will have many different slopes to choose from when you do finally graduate past the bunny slopes. Pick the recommended easiest one to begin. My first experience in doing this found that as a beginner even the so called easy slope looked quite challenging when you are on top of it for the first time looking down. Again though, don’t let your fears get the best of you. Make up your mind to have fun. I found that instead of simply going straight down , as you might think you need to, skiing from one side of the slope to the other in a sort of zigzag pattern all the way down will help you to cut your speed considerably and enjoy ride.

Once you start you will be hooked! It is the most fun you will experience. At least that’s my opinion. When you get to the bottom you can hardly wait to get back up again. Indeed a ski holiday is a very enjoyable way to plan a family holiday or even enjoy some holiday time for yourself. Who knows what long lasting friends or relationships you may make on your new ski holiday venture.

Over the years Denmark has witnessed historical invasions which has convincingly changed the cultural aspect of nation from time to time. Denmark is famous for its' unique and unusual Valentine's Day celebrations.

One of the popular Valentine's Day customs in Denmark is sending of white flowers called "Snowdrops". Also on this day young lovers and couples write swap poems, lovely romantic love notes and also funny poems known as "Gaekkebrav". The sender of "Gaekkebrav" writes a romantic rhyme for his beloved but the message is signed with dots and not a name. If the recipient guesses the name correctly, she receives an egg at Easter!

The tradition of "lover’s card" is the most hot custom in Denmark. Historically these cards came in the form of transparent cards, which when held to the light, depicted a figure of his beloved presenting a stunning gift to his beloved. But nowadays every card is called a lovers card. Every shop is stocked with pleasant and marvelous "lover’s card" with a gripping message.

Various Valentine Day events are held in Denmark like live musical concerts, art exhibitions and flower displays to celebrate the occasion. Lovers present different gifts to their lovers such as assorted chocolates, wine, cakes, fruits and delicious gourmet foods etc. Other Valentine Day festivities include visiting the Little Mermaid, Den Lille Havfure in Copenhagen and the famous Tivoli amusement park in the capital city.

Valentine's Day is the perfect day to show or tell the deepest feelings in your heart to your lover. Its a day to celebrate love, passion, emotions and feelings in the purest or most genuine form.
