OMG! Why Blizzard? Why? Why did you make one of the cutest pets you can get in the game something that you have to pay for right when I’m having a RL cash crisis? Why, when I play this game to escape from my stress and worries, did you put something so cute as a PAY REAL CASH for it. I know, I know, it’s only $10 (£9 for you Brits), but when you told your daughter she couldn’t have new socks because you’re a little low on funds it’s not easy to go off and buy an in-game pet.

Dammit - I could bloody well buy it in game! In game I’m rich.

*** Insert string of random swear words here ***

I guess he’s gonna have to go on my Christmas list or something. How sad is that - all I want for Christmas is a Pandaren Monk pet in a stupid online game. A game which I’ve apparently stopped blogging about, then posted twice in 2 days.

Time to eat chocolate.

Oh and good WOW news - we killed Jaraxxus in 10-man Heroic this week.

Oh and I’m not fussed by the Lil’K.T. - he’s ugly, but the Panda…. I love bears. I love Pandas. He bows, he does Kung Fu. He’s cute and cuddly. Argh! *** insert frustrated scream here ***

Hmmmm - was just looking through my analytics and the most searched for term that found my blog was “guild mum”, which is good and to be expected. This Wordpress blog comes first, followed by my old Blogger one and then some links from the Twisted Nether Blogcast. All normal stuff. (Barkie is big on Search Engine Optimisation and that sort of thing, so this sort of stuff has started to interest me too lately).

But and it’s quite a big BUT, one frequently recurring way for people to come to my site is by using the link “Spanking Outfit”. I’ve had 3 searches this month find me from that term. I rank on page 2 of google for it You arrive at this page.

Poor people who go searching for something kinky and end up with a picture of a Night Elf from a computer game - ha ha ha.

What really touches me is that I currently rank 5th for a search of “Sephrenia”. That for me feels like quite a big thing. Here is a world famous author and a prominent character name from one of his book series and a little player in WOW who named her character after the books. Somehow I managed to rank so highly for that name - it’s amazing.

Not that anyone other than people who know me or those who play WOW and read blogs would be interested in my little blog anyway, but that’s a trivial point

… so it’s time to stop for a while.

Oh, I’m still going to play. I’m just not going to feel constrained to blog about it, to HAVE to make money (enjoy the glyph market guys), to continually better my character, to push and push. I’m going to raid when I want and play Horde a bit when I want. I am geared enough for Icecrown (which I DO want to see and defeat), I don’t actually need any more stuff. I have all the toys and pets I ever wanted. I have my violet proto-drake, I have a mammoth and a motorbike and almost 100k gold stashed away.

This is me…

… flying off to find the gold at the end of the rainbow.

I’m not quitting WOW, I’m just not giving it so much of me any more. I’m only going to blog when I want to, not feel obliged to post something at least once a week.

Thank you all for reading, I hope you enjoyed what you read and that you enjoy it if I decide to post again.

Big hugs to you all, Seph xxx

I don’t have to do it! I did it last year! The relief is HUGE!

So, because I don’t need to do all sorts of junk with Sephrenia, I’ve been playing a bit on Sephrenya (my baby horde priestess). She’s been trick-or-treating (well, there IS a pet that you can get) as well as visiting Candy Buckets (for cash, XP and sweeties). So far she’s had some candy and a Human Female Mask. Now she can pretend to be Sephrenia (shame about the eyebrows sticking through)!

I do like flying on a Gryphon. I love the way they flop over their perches. This one looked up specially so I could take a picture.

Sephrenia went and did the Headless Horseman to help some guildies (and for the possibility of the mount). While I didn’t get the horsie, I did get a broom…

I’m not sure she looks too comfortable on there. It’s a bit wobbly.

Guild-wise this week we tried an undying run in Naxx with only 8 of us, which I goofed up and might blog about some time. We did get a shed load of achievements there though, which put us up to realm nubmer 2 on strict 10-man achievements (and we’re still recruiting btw). We had a wipe-night on the Coliseum Heroic, which was fun, but frustrating. I think we will nail something next time though. Last night we did our Wednesday Onyxia and Coliseum normal runs. They went well. We were going to try the Snobold achievement if the little buggers went on the melee, but they all went for the clothies, so we killed them. On Jaraxxus I suggested we might try the achievement where you keep the naughty ladies alive. We had 3 goes at it, refining the technique at each try. Finally, with one player left alive we nailed it!

We went on and cleared the rest, deciding to leave the faction champions to all die together for another day, LOL.

I’ve been a bit busy IRL, so not a lot to report really. Oh, I almost forgot - two long-lost but lovely friends returned to the game and made my week. Welcome back Kerah and Duross (I can’t remember the names of your new characters and am too lazy to go look them up).

Finally - good luck Ratshag! Another wonderful blogger bites the dust. If you have some spare time, go read his past blogs - especially his “classics” like his date with Jaina Proudmore. They are sooooo funny.

A VERY good friend of mine in WOW whispered me the other day and asked if I would be able to screenshot something for him. He has levelled his 9 remaining characters to 79 and wanted to log them in one at a time and ding with them.

It happened last night. I went out of Dalaran to try to keep my chat to a minimum so I could get the screenshot….

He now has lvl 80 characters for one of each class, on the same realm, in our guild He is somewhat insane, wonderful and it’s such an amazing achievement. (This is the guy who got me my Hyacinth Macaw, and most of the argent tournament pets).

Guild chat was funny after…

I believe he’s going for the mountain of mounts achievement next on his Paladin, but I don’t think he will be chasing the Long, Strange Trip for them all.

Gratz Ash - you’re a wonderful guy and it’s quite a feat you’ve pulled off, in spite of me holding you back by letting you farm pets for me. Love you lots. Seph xxx

It’s been a funny week. I’ve been a bit hormonal and have been wondering what to do with myself. I was a bit fed up with my current guild because we’re not doing advanced stuff at the moment. I think people are in their Autumn lull. I want to do some more hard modes and eventually see this…..

… as a result of TakeTen killing Algalon. Wouldn’t that be great! Kind of reminds me of how it felt to give in the Head of Onyxia in the old days.

Anyway. I’ve thought it through and I am happy where I am. We just need a few more people. So - if you read this, are family oriented, on an EU server and fancy some serious 10-person raiding 2 or 3 nights a week (from 22:00 server time for 2 hours or so) in a no pressure, stress-free environment then go take a look at our guild website and see what you think.

We went and cleared Onyxia and Coliseum last night. I got a shiny new dagger from the faction champions (/spit)and ANOTHER shadow priestly hat from Onyxia.

We got an achievement…

… which was nice. We tried the Snobold one, but the pesky little buggers seemed to prefer all our cloth wearers so we gave up on that idea for last night!

My money making has slowed somewhat since MMO Champions posted their Glyph guide, but it’s still OK. I have enough supplies to keep me going. One little thing I picked up from somewhere I read said to try posting resilient parchment. I put some up for 10g and it didn’t sell. I lowered my price and one lovely person bought all 5 that I posted for over 5g each (which he then reposted at 10g and hasn’t managed to sell since)

My Horde priestess has finished all of Ghostlands, reached level 21 and has been boosted in SFK again (thanks Marra). Isn’t she gorgeous in all her Arugal finery?

Her bank alt counterpart has been working hard and I now have over 100g on that server to keep me going.

I was heckled by my new Horde guildmates to include their rallying cry in my blog - so here goes - block your ears….

“For SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”

Well, great as my guild is, I miss the social parts of the game which I lost when I moved from a guild of 350 or so, to one of 40. When the split happened a few of my friends also left and decided to start anew with a Horde guild. Since then some have faction transferred as well. I kept in touch with some of them via MSN and decided to join them on their new server as a Horde.

So - what to choose? I wanted a healer - I can’t do anything else. Taurens are ugly, so Druids were out. I can’t get to grips with Shaman and I have a lvl 80 Paladin available that I don’t play. It would have to be another priest. I love priests. What race? I’ve started BE moderately recently, so went for a troll.

About level 6 I realised that no matter what shoes you had, the feet always looked the same. UGLY. So I rolled a BE. At last another character that I could make pretty.

I’ve been playing for a few weeks now and am loving the new experiences being a Horde. All the new lore. It’s like reading a whole new fantasy book. The best part so far was finding Lady Sylvanas necklace. She went all sad, summoned 4 Highborne Lamenters and began to sing the most beautiful song. I’ve had it in my head now for the last 3 days. It was wonderful. Google “Sylvanas lament” and listen to it - even if you’ve heard it before - it is very, very beautiful.

I have now worked my way slowly through almost all of ghostlands. It is slow as a priest and I almost gave up with the number of things that I have to kill my way through to collect a few ears, or eyes or fins….

But I made it to level 20 and then I remembered with extreme joy that you can get a mount at level 20. Wheeee! Lots of pretty coloured birds to choose from, but I fell in love with the black one.

Doesn’t he look lovely? I tried to think of a name for him. I googled Black Parrot and came up with the Latin name of Coracopsis nigra. So that’s it - he’s called Cora.

I do like my pony tails and hoop earrings. I had a trip through SFK (OK, I was boosted, but the gear there is amazing) and came away with a new dress, belt, shoulders, staff and a whole host of greens to auction off.

The troll has become my banker and has doubled the 20g that a guildie gave me and the new Seph is starting up in the glyph business. I am having fun again. I don’t even need the social side as much because there’s so much new stuff to do Worry not - Human Seph is still my love. She is still raiding, but I have renewed life for the game and I am pleased about it. The best bit - it’s on a PVE server so I will not be ganked. I think that’s one of the key reasons I’ve not got many alts past level 30 - you get to STV and get ganked and I give up. Now I don’t need to worry about running away or hiding at the sight of a red player. I can wave and flirt and continue my quest without having to look over my shoulder all the time and await certain death. Wow is good again.

As you may have read, I’m kind of into making money in WOW at the moment. I’ve found a lot of interesting blogs out there that help and guide and give tips. Probably the most famous, I’ve mentioned before is Greedy Goblin. Now I don’t particularly subscribe to his points of view. He is almost (but not quite) the antithesis of me. He does not do social. I am big time social. He talks politics, I keep away. He theorises. It makes my brain hurt and I have other things to think about like dinner and washing and my children. But anyway. I digress. He posts a weekly scorn at people he calls “Morons and Slackers”. Have a read… here for example. There are lots.

While I do find them amusing I am also sorry for these people. They are just trying to play a game. They obviously don’t try to educate themselves terribly well, but hell, we all have to start somewhere. I used to be a bit like some of these players. Isn’t everyone a bit naive until they learn how to do something. Yes, the information is out there, but maybe they would like to spend their time in other ways. Ah well. I have enjoyed reading these posts on occasion and laughing at the comments. I have educated myself and now have a system that works OK for me. I make between 5000 and 7000 gold a week. I spend most of it on fun, trivial things that goblin would scoff at. I have all the pets I can get, a motorbike, a travellers mammoth, a violet proto-drake, countless dresses and other completely useless and irrelevant things that make me happy. They add to what and how I enjoy the game.

The other day I logged in to one of my bank characters and the following conversation followed…

I was amused. I felt sorry for this guy. He must have been so frustrated at me! All he wanted to do was get rid of his glyphs. We continued….

I love the last sentence here. It really made me smile. I have an add-on that tells me what a player is worth. He had about 2.5k gold. He was obviously happy with the money he had and his other ways of making it, but to think that glyphs were worthless. Hee hee.

It carried on…

He clearly hasn’t read anything about how to make his life easier. He had to click to cancel all his auctions. He had no clue of the market value of his product. He thought things didn’t sell simply because he was being undercut. I’m not sure if I actually came out winning on the deal. I probably didn’t but I don’t really mind. I gave him some things to thing about but I doubt he actaully took them in. I gave him goblin’s blog idea, told him to automate and hinted that he should know his market a bit more. If he had actually read what I said to him he could have realised that it took me only a minute or so to post 300 glyphs.

I spent the gold I had collected from my morning’s posting and I felt a bit like I’d made somebody’s day in a strange sort of way. He was obviously furious at me, but by the end relieved.

I was thinking of sending this to Goblin, but he likes to name and shame and I don’t. If this person ever sees my blog he will know who I am referring to, but I doubt it would do any good to anyone to actually come out and name him. I don’t really want to personally educate too many people about glyphs, even though I am quite happy that I have a big enough market share and enough stocks and supplies to maintain that I’m not quite prepared to let go of all the information I have learnt over the year or so it’s taken me to get here. I know that if others had not shared their knowledge I would not be in this position, but I’m not confident enough that I really know what I’m doing and don’t want to be labelled with the “Morons and Slackers” just because I’ve not gathered all the information available or know all about markey share and cashflow and trading commodities, etc.

I guess I’m just an underconfident Mum doing the best she can and funding her children and husband to play a game we all love. I don’t crave fame and glory. I really don’t care if nobody reads this apart from my friends and family. We had a laugh at the first comment from this guy and it has now become a new family saying (well, not with daughter - she’s only 8 and we don’t say ALL the words with son). But when we get cross or frustrated at someone or something we say “F*** off”……. “Seriously” and it makes us giggle.

At the end of the day it’s a game we are playing. Husband and I are trying to work out how we can replicate this in Real Life. How we can use the skills and devotion that I put into the game in the real world and make us all rich. It may take a while, but I hope we can get there. Things are moving. Slowly, but I feel that life is starting to smile our way.

Well, it had been quite a journey from the first time I went to Onyxia. I first went about 4 years ago, on my rogue, Lorienne. Back then it was a 40 person raid. You HAD to have fire resistance potions. You HAD to have your own bandages, healing portions and Whipper Root Tubers. It was a horrible experience as a rogue. There was a tiny spot where you could dps and you had to not get aggro at all ever. When she took off she was so hard to find and hit and keep out of the way the the whelps. Phase 3 was hideous. Continual fear into fire which really hurt, no heals at all because rogues were not worth healing so you had to chomp all your tubers, potions and bandage all the time and still be expected to do uber dps. And if (or most likely for me, when) you died the raid leader would shout at you for being useless. But the feeling of achievement on the rare occasion when I did help kill her without dying was enormous.

So - running down the corridor to meet the new, revised Onyxia was a strange feeling. Here I was as a healer. I didn’t have to worry about whether I was standing too close to her tail, or about running to the walls when she did her deep breath - I could hug the walls (apart from near the whelp caves). It was stange with only 10 of us there though. I mean, you need 10 for just the whelps don’t you?

We charged in. I must admit I was a bit nervous - we’d not discussed tactics or anything. People had said she was easy, but I had a nasty feeling that she wouldn’t be a complete pushover. We did OK until she got into the air. I think people forgot to carry on killing her and all went for the whelps instead. She did a deep breath. It hurt. Too many people died and we wiped.

We went through the tactics again. Now that people had actually seen what she did, things felt a bit better. Next time went really fast.

We got a server first I think because nobody got hit by the deep breath! I have absolutely no idea how we did it so quick and without a deep breath, but we did. Hurrah!

The loot was rubbish - I really wish Blizzard made it so that the loot that dropped didn’t give things for classes that you don’t have in your raid. I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard and would really add to the raiding experience. It was such a shame to see the rogue hood going when we had no rogues and so typical that I was there on my priest!
