STC WARNS ITS CUSTOMERS FROM FAKE CALLS TO WIN PRIZES

This is why, your company STC issued another statement warning customers from anonymous local and international calls misleading customers by telling him that they have won a financial prize and that in order to receive it, they must transfer funds to a certain bank account or send the number of their recharge card or send other personal information such personal identification number for bank transfer or bank account.
Eng. Nawaf bin Saad Al Shalani General Manager of Corporate Communication at STC explained that such calls are misleading and the company has previously warned its customers in this regard after receiving several complaints that they have been subjected to exploitation and manipulation by anonymous callers. Al Shalani urged customers not to respond to these callers urging customers not to reveal their personal information through phone calls or text messages.
He also pointed out that STC follows a clear and unified mechanism to promote its services and launch its marketing offers and promotions using the conventional well known media channels or through the authorized distributers that have been selected meticulously by the Group to ensure fixed prices that cannot be increased or reduced in any way to jeopardize the customers' interests.

Toshiba is to release a laptop that will enable people to view 3D images without the need for special glasses.

The Qosmio F750 3D uses a special lenticular screen that works by displaying a slightly different image to each eye. A webcam on the laptop is used to find the position of users' eyes allowing the 3D image to be viewed without glasses as each eye is ‘targeted' by a separate image. The Qosmio can also display 2D and 3D content simultaneously.

A Blu-ray player is included for watching high-definition movies and the Qosmio F750 3D can also convert 2D content into 3D.

The laptop, which has a 15.6in display, runs on an Intel Core i7 processor with Nvidia Geforce graphics.

The Toshiba Qosmio F750 will be available from August 2011. It is expected to retail for around £1300.

GCC citizens can now visit Oman without passport

JEDDAH: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens can now visit Oman by just taking their national ID cards and leaving their passports at home, the Saudi Directorate of Passports announced on Tuesday.

Oman had already been providing this facility to Saudi citizens since 2005.

The new move follows a resolution taken by the GCC Supreme Council to help citizens find jobs in the region and facilitate easy movement between member countries.

The ministers of labor and social affairs in GCC countries had also approved a series of resolutions to give their citizens freedom of work, residence and movement in member countries.

In 1993, the Supreme Council of GCC leaders passed a regulation saying all GCC citizens working in the private sector should be treated equally in accordance with an executive bylaw. All GCC countries agreed to implement this decision. The executive office of the GCC ministers of labor and social affairs is currently following up on commitments to provide more employment opportunities for GCC citizens in member countries. It also provides information about job opportunities in GCC states. With employment of GCC citizens in member countries being an issue of strategic importance, the office reports to the Supreme Council on ongoing developments in the region and informs GCC leaders about current obstacles they are facing.

The office also encourages public and private sectors in member countries to employ GCC citizens instead of workers from outside the region. The GCC Consultative Council has also urged member countries to give priority to GCC citizens in the labor market and cut the number of expatriate workers.

It has also advised GCC governments to involve the private sector in plans to nationalize jobs.

The council also wants to increase the cost of employing expatriates in order to discourage private companies from giving them jobs.

It has instructed the office of the GCC ministers of labor and social affairs to make job opportunities in member countries available to GCC citizens only.

‘Saher’ traffic system launched in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: A state-of-the-art traffic management system that can monitor vehicles and track them using license plate recognition technology was launched on Monday.

“Saher,” as the system is called, has been in development for a year and also monitors traffic violations as they happen.

It works by requesting information from a database at the Riyadh Traffic Center, then issuing an automatic ticket whenever a traffic violation has been committed.

However, there are concerns about the system’s efficiency and whether it is using a comprehensive and up-to-date database of drivers’ details.

One week before the Saher was launched, Riyadh’s Traffic Department launched a road safety campaign in coordination with other cities in the Kingdom.

However, many eyewitnesses noticed that during the campaign and while traffic police were monitoring traffic lights, violations were still occurring frequently.

There are also concerns from the public over whether around 130 unmarked traffic police cars are enough to patrol such a large city and if expatriate motorists will be penalized differently.

Arab News’ calls to Riyadh’s traffic officials have been unanswered for three days.

The penalty for motorists speeding through red lights was reformed in 2008. In the past, offenders were suspended from driving for 24 hours, in addition to a minimum SR500 fine that increased if it was not paid within a month. Now, only the fine remains.

According to a paper presented at a forum on national road traffic safety in 2009, there were 4.3 million road accidents from 1989 to 2008 in the Kingdom, resulting in over 86,500 deaths and more than 610,000 injuries. Seven percent of survivors suffer at least one disability.

More than 60 percent of road accidents are caused by reckless driving, while speeding through a red light causes 34 percent of accidents.

It has been 16 years since a national forum on traffic safety was organized by the National Committee for Traffic Safety at King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology.

The forum aimed to identify the causes of road traffic accidents and how to reduce them, yet the recommendations have taken a very long time to be implemented.

The General Directory for Traffic revealed in its report in 2006 that every three hours, two people die on the Kingdom’s roads.

Dubai arrests 'surgeon to the stars' imposter

A man who allegedly posed as a top US cosmetic surgeon and operated on women from his kitchen in Al Barsha has been arrested by Dubai police, it was reported on Monday.

Emarat Al Youm reported that the man was caught impersonating Washington-based Dr Steven Hopping who, the paper said, had performed surgery on Hollywood celebrities and was one of the most respected surgeons in the US.

The paper said police set a trap for the alleged fraudster after being tipped off by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in Dubai Healthcare City

India seeks minimum wages for its workers in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: As part of an ambitious plan to ensure better working conditions for workers, India is negotiating with the Saudi government to fix minimum wages for its hundreds of thousands of blue-collar work force.
Some Gulf states have already agreed or even signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for minimum wages, but the Saudi side has so far resisted Indian attempts to endorse the agreement that will fix the minimum salaries of Indian workers.
“We have discussed the issue of minimum wages with the Saudi side but no decision has been taken as of yet,” said outgoing Ambassador M.O.H. Farook, speaking at his farewell party hosted by the Indian community here on Sunday.
Farook also met Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal on Sunday to say goodbye on the completion of his tenure. The farewell function at the International Indian School, Riyadh (IISR), was followed by a dinner reception hosted by Nadeem Tarin, a prominent businessman and a social activist, at his residence.
Asked about the status of the MoU to fix minimum wages, Farook said that the wage figures should be realistic and they should reflect conditions in each of the countries of the Gulf where workers are employed.
“This wage issue would now be followed by my successor,” he added. Though the salary-level needs to be linked with the cost of living prevalent in each of the countries concerned, a monthly salary of $300 to $400 is a figure most Indian missions in the Gulf are comfortable with, said a report. Asked about the progressively growing relations between India and Saudi Arabia, Farook said that “there was still scope to develop better understanding to further strengthen already robust ties.”
“Our bilateral political relations got a boost with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque King Abdullah’s visit to India in 2006,” he added. Yet, we have to go a long way, he said. He explained that India had great potential. “India tops in telecom, medical facilities and professionals like engineers and technicians ...what we need is a perfect understanding between the two countries,” he added.
Saudi Arabia and India have forged closer ties on the commercial front.
“India was among the top seven trading partners of the Kingdom, with bilateral trade exceeding $15 billion and Indian companies the fifth biggest investors in the country,” said the outgoing Indian envoy who has had a distinguished political career spanning more than four decades.
Farook, prior to his arrival in the Kingdom as Indian ambassador, served as chief minister of the Indian state of Pondicherry for three terms and also in various capacities in the government of India.
Farook, whose tenure saw frequent exchange of visits of high-profile officials, including the historic visit of King Abdullah to India, has the distinction to bring Saudi-Indian relations to a new high. Farook has also served as India’s union minister of state for civil aviation.
He is one of the few parliamentarians who got elected to the Lower House of the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha) for three terms. A political and social worker by profession, Farook has also made noteworthy contributions for the welfare of women and upliftment of the downtrodden.

Folder Background Pictures for Windows XP

Before WinXP, we can set a picture in our folder background..however in WinXP this feature took out by Microsoft. Here how we can set up our picture in folder background again..

1. Open the folder you want a background on.

2. Make sure you can see ALL files. To do so: Go Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab > Under "Hidden files and folders" click the one that says "Show hidden files and folders" AND UNCHECK "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)"

3. Check to see if that folder has a file called "desktop.ini"

If the folder does NOT have that file desktop.ini, you need Windows to create it for you... Right click in an empty area of the folder > Properties > Customize tab > Click "Customize" button > select the normal folder icon, Apply, OK. You do this creates only to create that file. You delete this choosing of the folder icon later. All you want is the file, not the folder icon.

4. Open desktop.ini and delete the existing code(use for icon)

11 digit mobile phone numbers from January

More than 480 million subscribers of mobile telephony services will have 11-digit number from January 1.

The subscribers will have to prefix 9 to the existing 10-digit number. For example, a number 9xxxxxxxxx will become 99xxxxxxxxx.

The Department of telecommunications (DoT) issued a notice to all telecom service providers on Tuesday, informing the change in the plan.

Hide Any Hard Disk Drive Completely

If you have important documents ;-) and you are afraid about its privacy then do not be worried because windows XP provides (not officially) a utility by which u can hide your PC's one or more drives.
1. Go to Start > run > type diskpart.
A dos window will appear with following.
DISKPART>
2. Then type list volume
This will look like it
Volume### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info etc in a row and details beneath.
Volume 0 F DC-ROM
Volume 1 C NTFS Partition 7000MB Healthy
Volume 2 D soft NTFS Partition 8000MB Healthy
Volume 3 E ---- NTFS Partition 8000MB Healthy
3. If u wanna hide drive E then type select volume 3 and hit enter.
Then a message will appear in same winwods {Volume 3 is the selected volume}
4. Now type remove letter E
A message will come {Diskpart Removed the Drive letter}
Sometime it requires the reboot the computer. And your E drive is vanished from sight.
Diskpart will remove the letter. Windows XP is not having capabilty to identify the unkown volume.
Now Do not be afraid. Your data will ramain safe.
To revert changes, repeat the process . but in 4th step replace "remove" with "assign"
I mean type "assign letter E"
Your drive will reappear again.

About Ragasco Cylinder
First time in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in the Middle-East to use Ragasco Gas Cylinder. Ragasco Gas Cylinder is a new unique and attractive type of LPG transparent composite cylinders used for cooking gas, which has significant advantages over traditional steel cylinders. The new technology is based on using reinforcement fibers mixed with resins and adding some chemical additives to reach the final product which is characterized of being light weighted and stronger than steel. The construction of the cylinder is non-corrosive so there is no need for sandblasting and painting. Low weight reduces transportation costs and the even tare weight saves man-hours by removing the need to adjust the filling machines for each cylinder. Ragasco Cylinders are available in a wide range of colors with the option of embossing company logos on the top, which shows consumers a dedication to innovation and a very customer oriented approach. The cylinders are available in a range of sizes and are suited to all kinds of use, from camping and picnicking to barbecues and patio heaters, as well as normal domestic uses such as cookers and stoves. The Ragasco Cylinder consists of three layers with different functions:

Yahoo! keen to help India with citizen ID project

Project will see country’s 1.1 billion citizens have unique identification numbers

Yahoo! wants to be part of India's ambitious plans to introduce unique identity numbers for its 1.1 billion citizens.

The government project, headed ex co-chairman of Infosys Technologies Nandan Nilekani, will see the creation of a database for India's citizens based on identification numbers, similar to how social security numbers work in the United States.

Earlier this year, Microsoft and IBM expressed interest in getting involved with the project, and now Yahoo! has thrown its hat in the ring as well.

According to a Business Standard report, Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz met with India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last week and stated that Yahoo! should be used for the project because of its major presence in the country. The company claims that three out of four Indians access the internet through Yahoo!

Bartz also pointed out that there was absolutely no commercial interest in the deal and that the company had the expertise to handle such large amounts of data.

"There is no commercial interest involved in offering Yahoo's services for the UID project... We have been in India for many years. It is time to pay back to the nation," Yahoo India (R&D) VP and CEO Shovick Mukherjee stated in reaction to the news.

The fact that Yahoo! would be willing to take on the project on a non-profit basis would be appealing though it is unclear whether Microsoft and IBM have the same non-commercial stance. Rumours are rife that Cisco is also keen to take part, though no official announcements have been made yet.

The Hindu reported that the centre was kick-started financially with an interim Rs.100 crore ($1 billion) from the government, while it has been assured that no government agency will interfere in the planning and implementation of the project.

The first UID cards are scheduled to be distributed to citizens in India in the year 2011.

What is Certificate Attestation ?

When a person from India go abroad for job his certificates has to be authenticated by that country's embassy or consulate in India. Since there are many Indians working in GCC countries - Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Kingdom Saudi Arabia (KSA), and United Arab Emirates (UAE) it is necessary for them to attest their documents in corresponding foreign embassy or consulate in Delhi or Mumbai. Attestation Procedure

Exact attestation procedure depends on the type of the certificate and destination country. To get embassy or consulate attestation the document has to be attested by Govt. of India. It has two separate department to take care of certificate attestation procedures, Human Resource Development Department (HRD) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Documents can be divided into three categories.

1. Educational Certificates
These are the certificates obtained from school and college like SSLC/10th/CBSE, PDC/+2/HSC, Degree certificates like BA, Bsc, Bcom, BTech, BE, BBA, CA, MBBS, Post graduate certificates like MA, Msc, Mcom, MBA, MCA and other Diploma, Nursing and ITI certificates.

2. Non-Educational Certificates
This includes marriage and birth certificates, affidavit, transfer and leaving certificates, medical, death, divorce, experience and provisional certificates.

3. Supporting Documents
These documents has to be submitted along with the above mentioned documents for attestation. Exact number and type of supporting documents may vary from country to country. Some of the supporting documents are mark lists, transcripts, registration, selection letter, passport copy, photo etc.

Human Resource Development Department(HRD) and Ministry of External Affairs(MEA)

Attestation procedure also different for education and non-educational certificates and again it depends on the destination country of the applicant. Normally to attest an educational document from the embassy it has to be authenticated by MEA. To get an MEA authentication it has to be authenticated by HRD.

Home Ministry, SDM and GAD

For a non education certificate, prior to MEA and Embassy authentication, it has to be authenticated by the respective state home ministry or Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM). If the certificate is from Andhra Pradesh then it has to be authenticated by General Administration Department (GAD) prior to MEA/Embassy Attestation.

University Verification, Translation and Notary Attestation

For some embassies it has to be authenticate by a Notary before submitting to the home ministry. University verification and translation also required by some embassies. For UAE attestation and Kuwait attestation education certificate procedures are same but non-educational certificates are dealt in different way. So you have to enquire with the corresponding embassy or consulate for exact procedure of attestation.

Delhi, Mumbai and State level Attestation

At present most of the HRD and MEA authentications are done in Delhi. But state level HRD authentication also happening in some state home ministry departments. If attestation is done in Mumbai consulate then certificates has to be authenticated by Mumbai notary, home ministry, mantralaya prior to the consulate submission.

Getting Help

Govt. of India and respective embassies change their rules quite often. So visit their sites or consult with respective offices before going for a certificate attestation. Now for HRD authentication it is necessary to submit the document in person or by a blood relative otherwise it will not be accepted. ABOUT HRD

HRD Attestation can be done from Delhi only.
ADDRESS: Scholarship Division, Opp. Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, Kasturba Gandhi Marg,
Near India Gate, New Delhi-110 001.
Timing = 10 AM to 1.30 PM. Monday to Friday except public holidays.

REQUIREMENTS

1 . Application form =1 no. (This is to be filled in CAPITAL letters only)
2. Passport size Photograph = 1 no.
3. Original certificates + One Photo copy of each
4. Original mark sheets + One Photo copy of each
5. Original Registration certificates + One Photocopy of each.
(For Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacists only)
6. Indian postal Order worth IRs: 50/- for each certificate; it should be Addressed to:- “the secretary, Department of secondary and higher education, New Delhi”
7. Original Passport or Electoral card or Ration card + One copy of each (first page +parent’s name page + address page + validity date mentioned page)
8. If Ration card is in a regional (State's) language, it should be translated to English and Attested by the notary public or gazetted officer, who knows the language.
9. Passport and registrations must be valid and the name, address, parents name, Date of birth etc., should match with the original certificates.

NOTE: Only Certificate holder, their blood relatives, husband or wife and Authorized Agents can submit the documents in HRD / MEA / Embassy for Attestation / Authentication.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

a. The candidate who coming personally to do their documents Attestation / authentication from Delhi, must bring their own original ’ID’ proof.
b. If the blood relatives are coming, they have to bring their own original ‘ID’ proof and the Photocopy of certificate holder’s ‘ID’ proof (passport).
c. Husband / wife also can submit this for Attestation /Authentication but they should produce the marriage certificate /spouses name in the passport in original with a photocopy of it.
d. For all over India, HRD and MEA authentication has to be done from Delhi only. Some of the states are planning to do the same.
e. Only Govt. Recognized Educational Certificates can be attested /Authenticated from HRD.
f. There are separate counters for Graduates, Under Graduates and Ladies
g. In case of laminated Certificates, backside Lamination has to be removed before submission to HRD.
h. The Registrar of the same University must attest the certificates issued from Dharwad University Karnataka before HRD submission.
i. GAD/State Home Ministry Attestation required for educational Certificates issued from Andhra Pradesh prior to submission for HRD Attestation Consular attestation from Mumbai.
j. Some of the Non-educational and Private Diplomas (all State's) also to be attested by GAD / Home Ministry for MEA and Embassy Attestation.
k. Sub-divisional Magistrate attestation (SDM) also valid for some of the attestation formalities.
l. State Notary & GAD Attestation required before consulate attestation from Mumbai.

HRD - ATTESTING CERTIFICATES
The certificates of the institutions coming under HRD’s List (board, university, council) only can be attested/authenticated from HRD. Such as SSC/SSLC/ METRIC, HSC/ PDC / PUC/ INTER, CBSE, VHSE, ITI / NTC, DIPLOMA, BA, B.COM, B.SC, MA, M.COM, M.SC, B.TECH, BE, MTECH. MBBS, MS, MD, CA, LLB, MBA, MCA, Etc…

HRD - NOT ATTESTING CERTIFICATES
The following CERTIFICATES will not be authenticated from HRD. But some of the Embassy Attestations can be done for these certificates. Contact UROGULF for more details.

22. Provisional certificates other than issued by university/ board / council. This can be done if it is counter signed by the registrar of the University to which the college is affiliated.
23. Provisional certificates more than two years old. But it can be done if produce a letter from the department mentioning that the original certifica;te is not issued.
24. Mark lists / transcripts. But, in case of students going abroad for higher studies, this will be authenticated by HRD, for this, candidates have to produce the original call / selection/invitation letter from abroad.
25. Degree certificates in English unaccompanied by Hindi/vernacular version or vice- versa where certificates are issued in more than one language.
