Local media report that Saudi Arabia plans to introduce a green card system, that is to say permanent residency in the Kingdom over the next five years. This plan was recently announced by Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Permanent residency's main goal is to attract more foreign investment while allowing the recruitment of a larger number of expatriates, against fees. According to this plan, sponsorship will no longer be required to work in Saudi Arabia.

However, holders of the green card will be charged with "zakat" and value-added tax if applicable, besides insurance premiums, etc. They will also be allowed to buy real estate properties and engage in commercial, industrial or other related activities.

On the other hand, permanent residents will be allowed to start a business, work in a university or other education hubs, thus contributing to the country's economy.

Fireworks to light up Riyadh skies on Saudi National Day

The Saudi National Day celebrations will include fireworks for the first time in Riyadh.

Riyadh Municipality has organised fireworks to light up the Riyadh night skies on Monday, 23 September. The pyrotechnics show will take place simultaneously at five different locations in Riyadh.

The fireworks are slated to begin at 9 pm in the evening and will last for about 15 minutes. The locations of the fireworks shows are:

King Fahd International Stadium
Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium
Prince Sultan University
Near the suspension bridge west of Riyadh
King Abdul Aziz Manakh Park

Safety measures are being adopted while transporting, storing, and handling the fireworks shells. The firework launch sites will be cordoned off to ensure safety of the public. Furthermore, Civil Defence forces and the Red Crescent Society teams will also be present at all fireworks facilities.

Windows Live Admin Center (changed from Windows Live Custom Domains in November 2007) is a service provided by Windows Live. It enables users with domain names to change their domain MX record (Mail Server) so that they can enjoy the full features of Windows Live Hotmail on their personalized domain.
Email accounts provided by Admin Center are Windows Live IDs and you can use them to sign into MSN Messenger and Windows Live Messenger and all other Windows Live ID enabled services.

One Windows Live ID can be set as the administrator and using that ID new accounts can be created, and old ones can be deleted or edited on that domain. The administrator may also choose to allow anyone to create his or her own account in the domain via a link on the domain's web site. Administrators can choose from a web-based or Windows-based application to manage all aspects of their domain accounts.
Users with Admin Center accounts can check their emails using Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook.

This tutorial will show you step by step How to Configure your own domain with Windows Live Admin Center.

Prerequisites:
- You'll need an ASPnix Hosting Account to be able to configure domains via Control Panel
- To use ASPnix DNS, please make sure your domain is pointing to
ns1.aspnix.com
ns2.aspnix.com
ns3.aspnix.com (optional, recommended for non-US clients)

Step 1

Go to Windows Live Admin Center site and sign in with your Windows Live ID.

Click "Get Started"

Step 2

Provide your domain name and click Continue

Step 3

Review settings and Accept Agreement

Step 4

You will see a page similar to this below. You will work with "MX Server" under Mail Setup category.

Step 5

Now we need to add MX Server record into your Domain's DNS
a. Login to Hosting Control Panel at http://cp.aspnix.com
b. Navigate to Domains > choose your
c. Click DNS Zone Editor

Step 6

a. Click Add button to Add "MX Server" Record
b. Choose MX Record and click Next

Step 7

You will need to enter 3 records: "Host Name", "MX Server", "Priority"

a. Enter @ sign into Host Name. This will create a record with just your domain.
For example, "testdomainsite.com". If you enter "testdomainsite.com" into host name, DNS will create
incorrect record and it will look like this: "testdomainsite.com.testdomainsite.com", to avoid this
just enter an @ sign.

b. Copy and Paste your MX Server from page on Step 4
NOTE: Make sure to put a period "." at the end of the MX Server record.

c. Set Priority to "10" and click Save

Back to Windows Live Admin page and click Refresh

If Step 7 was added correctly you will see that your Domain is now Active

Your Domain is now added to Windows Live Admin and it's time to create an Email Account

Setup Hotmail on your own domain

Set Up Windows Live on your Domain

So, my very first post

Lets say you've got a custom domain. Apart from setting up your own website on it, there are many more things you can do with it.

Yes, you can use Hotmail, Messenger, and most of the Windows Live services on your own domain, Follow the steps given and its easy

What you need to have ?

1) A Domain, obviously

2) You also need to get Hosting for this. If you don' have hosting already, you can go to XetiHost(Completely Free Host) or Host4Post (A Post to Host) for free and reliable Hosting Or you could go to 123COM and get Professional Paid Hosting.

NOTE: Please do not enter the same data as given in the screenshots, those are just as examples

Firstly, Go here to register for Windows Live.

Enter the required details and go to the next step.

Now, In the Next Step, you can choose to Make a New Account (Preferred) or Use an Existing one.

Go to the next Step.

Create the account and you'll be redirected to the Live Admin Section.Accept the TOS, and go to the next step.

Ok, Now you are redirected to the Main Admin Panel.

As you can see, there are 3-4 options, Proving Ownership isnt necessary, but it should be done.

Now, for the Mail, Go to the Mail Set Up. You will see something like this.

Now, for doing this, you need to point your domain's MX Servers.

Once that is done, you'll have to log in to your Control Panel (Cpanel in most cases)

You should be able to login to it at http://cpanel.yourdomain.com/

Once you have logged in,

Go to the "Mail" tab and Go to the "MX Entry" option

Select the domain you want to set up mail on, and some settings will show up.

Scroll down

Now add the details from the Hotmail Site (Only Priority and MX Server to Destination) to the Fields provided in Cpanel, eg

Click on "Add New Record"

You are done with the Mail Settings,

Now skip the CNAME field(Not necessary)

Go to the Server Trust Part

This Step is Important as if you dont do this step, all your mail will be marked as SPAM to receiving party.

For this Go Back to your Cpanel Main Page.

Go to the Domains Tab, and go to "Advanced DNS Editor"

Enter the details from the Hotmail Site, into your "Add a Record" in Cpanel. For eg.

Click on Add A record and you are done

Now to enable Messenger you need to Create a SRV Record, If you want to, give the details under SRV record to your Hosting Manager, and he'll do it for you.

But a easier way is, go to Passport.Net and register, its a simpler way to do it

Using Outlook.com with your own or current email address

Did you know that you can set up an Outlook.com account (formerly known as Hotmail) with your own current email address or personal domain and don't necessarily have to use an @outlook.com address?

This allows you to both send and receive emails with an address which you already own, even if it is from another provider such as Gmail.

Using an Outlook.com account is a great alternative for your current POP3 or IMAP account if you want to sync your emails, contacts and calendar items with multiple devices such as your desktop, laptop, netbook, tablet or smartphone. It behaves a lot like a personal (hosted) Exchange or Office 365 account but for free.

Setting this up is relatively quick and easy but there are some pitfalls to notice. This guide walks you through the entire process of setting up an Outlook.com account with your own current email address and how to transfer all your current data.

Set up a Microsoft Account for your current address

A Microsoft Account is basically your username to make use of various Microsoft services such as Outlook.com and SkyDrive. This username can be any existing email address you already own or a new Outlook.com address. In this guide, we obviously go for the first option.

To sign up for a Microsoft Account go to; https://signup.live.com
Fill out the form with the address that you want to use.
The password which you set here is for your Microsoft Account only; it does not have to be the same password that you currently have for accessing your emails. In fact, it is highly recommended to choose a different password. Also make sure you are using a Strong password.
Type the captcha characters and press the "I Accept" button.
Within minutes, you'll receive an email from "Microsoft account team" with the subject "Verify your email address" with instructions to confirm your sign up.
Click on the link in the email to confirm the signup.
If the mail got lost, login with your Microsoft Account again and click the verification link at the top to resend the message.
On the confirmation page, press OK to go to your Microsoft Account "Account summary"where you can specify some additional information about yourself, set a display picture and configure additional security options. You can skip this for now.

You are free to specify any address which you already own when signing up for an Microsoft Account. This address can then also be used for an Outlook.com mailbox.

Configure Outlook.com to retrieve your emails

Now that you have signed up for a Microsoft Account with your existing email address, you can configure Outlook.com to collect your mail from your current mail account.

Tip!
Do you own the entire domain rather than just the email address? Then you can skip this step and configure your domain to let the mail servers of Outlook.com directly handle all the emails for your entire domain instead. For more info about this, see theDomain owners section.

Go to the Outlook.com webpage and sign in with the email address and password you have specified when setting up your Microsoft Account if you are not automatically signed in already.
Click on the "Continue to inbox" button when you get a "Welcome to your new Outlook.com inbox". You'll find this and additional information also in an email that has been placed in your Inbox from the Outlook Team.
In the top right corner but on the left of your name, you'll see a gear icon. Click on it and from the menu that pops up choose: More mail settings.

Under "Managing your account" click on: Your email accounts
It the "Add an email account" section, click on the button: Add a send-and-receive account
On the "Add a send-and-receive account" page, you'll find that your current email address has already been filled out. For most POP3 accounts, you only need to fill out the password for your account (so not your Microsoft Account password) to complete the configuration.
If the AutoConfiguration of your account doesn't work, click on the "Advanced options" link to specify the correct server details for your POP3 account and SMTP server. You'll also be automatically transferred to this page when the AutoConfiguration fails.
Once successfully configured, Outlook.com will prompt you what to do with emails retrieved from your current address. By default it wants it to place it into a separate folder but since this is the first and main email account you should select "An existing folder: Inbox" instead.
Save your settings.
You'll now get a confirmation message that your messages are being collected and with the option to return to your Inbox or to verify your account status.
Choose to go back to your Inbox folder to see your messages which are still in the Inbox folder of your POP3 account being collected. The mail collecting is being done in increments so if you have a lot of email still on your POP3 account, this could take a while.

Tip!
By default, your messages will also remain on the POP3 server of your email provider. If you are happy with the results and/or you have only limited space on the POP3 server, you can configure the account aggregation settings to remove the messages from the mail server once they are collected by Outlook.com.

To do this, go to your account settings as indicated in step 4 and click on the "Details"link next to your configured account and then on the "Edit" link in the pop-up dialog. In the "Incoming (POP3) server information" section, you'll find an option for "Leave a copy of messages on the server".

How to create a custom Email ID for your domain in Hotmail

Hotmail is one of the most popular and most widely used email service in the world right now. If you own a domain name and want to create a custom email ID associated with your domain name, you can easily do that using the Windows Live Admin Center. You will be able to use this email ID as Windows Live IDs and can use them with Windows Live Messenger, etc, just as you do with a normal @hotmail ID.

The first thing that you have to do before starting is to register a domain name (if you don't already have one). After you have purchased a domain name, you can start the procedure.

To set up you custom email ID, first go to domains.live.com. Click Get Started.

In the next page enter your domain name. As we want to setup an email account, select Setup Windows Live Hotmail for my domain. If you select the other option, you will be able to use you email ID with Windows Live Messenger but an email inbox will not be setup.

Next you will have to assign a Domain administrator. A domain administrator, as the name suggests is the one who will be managing the Admin Center account and can add or remove user accounts.

Now confirm the details that you have entered and accept the terms and conditions.

The next step is to prove the ownership of the domain and setup necessary MX records on your domain registrar/webhost for the Hotmail to work with your domain name. You will be provided with the details to enter as shown below.

Usually these settings can be found under DNS Management option in your host/registrar's control panel. If you aren't sure how to add MX record via your host's control panel, check their documentation or contact support. Here's an example on how the DNS editor will look like.

Once you have finished adding the MX records, return to the above shown page and click refresh. Windows Live Admin Center will detect the MX changes and you can now start using your custom email ID from Hotmail. To add more accounts, just go to domains.live.com and click Manage Accounts in the left pane. From the right pane,select Add Accounts.

The High Commission for Riyadh Development (HCRD) revealed Saturday that more than 80 experts from all over the world will complete a technical and financial offer analysis for the Riyadh Metro.
According to an HCRD statement, three major global consortiums submitted their technical and financial offers to the commission recently as announced.
The HCRD noted that the results of the analysis, carried out under the supervision of specialists at the commission, will be uncovered in the near future to the Supreme Committee to oversee the implementation of the public transport project in Riyadh.
The commission is chaired by Riyadh Gov. Prince Khalid bin Bandar, also the HCRD’s president, who will choose the most appropriate offer in terms of technical and financial edge.
The winning consortium will implement the mega project. According to a source from the HCRD, the metro system will have 96 air-conditioned stations in total, including the main stations, four transfer stations, and five park-and-ride stations.
The Traffic Control Center (TCC) is designed to help deliver a world-class customer service experience for the public transport system and will be the central point for customer contact. It will coordinate the whole transport network using Intelligent Transport Systems.
The system will cover the districts as follows:
Blue Line: Olyaya–Batha–Al Hayer Road (39 km);
Green Line: King Abdullah Road (25 km);
Red Line: Madina Al Munawra-Amir Saad bin Abdul Rahman Al Awal Road (40 km);
Orange Line: To King Khaled International Airport (30 km);
Yellow Line: King Abdul Aziz Road (13 km);
Purple Line: Abdul Rahman bin Ouf–Shaikh Hassan bin Hussain bin Ali (30 km).
Trains on the six lines will run at 40km/h. All stations and carriages will be air-conditioned.
The driverless electric trains will also be divided into first class, family class and single class carriages.
The completed three-line Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) network will be 85 km. The two completed circular lines will be 83 km. The 18-line community bus service will cover a total of 405 km.

JEDDAH – The issuance and renewal of residency permits (iqamas) can now be done electronically without the need of a physical presence through the new “Abshir” online service of the Directorate General of Passports.

Interior Minister Prince Muhammad Bin Naif launched on Wednesday the free service for individuals and employers.

Lt. Gen. Salem Al-Bolaihed, Director General of Passports, said that the service was launched as a major step to realize the aspirations and directives of the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to make e-services available to citizens and expatriates without directly contacting the passport offices.

Last September, the Directorate had opened a new section inside the ministry’s Riyadh headquarters to provide citizens and expatriates with many electronic services without having to appear in person.

Col. Khaled Al-Saikhan, Director of IT Department at the Directorate, said that the online service will facilitate the employers to renew iqamas of their workers on time. It will also enable the employers to issue iqamas from the Directorate’s website itself.

Col Badar Al-Malik, spokesman of the Directorate General of Passports, said that a beneficiary has to register at the website (www.epassport.gov.sa) to avail of this service. The registration should be activated through ID proof. He called upon all expatriates to sign up for the new free online services and benefit from them.

In 2010, the ministry launched the online service for expats to get the exit-re-entry visas for their dependents without visiting the passport offices.

The simple online service cut short the lengthy transactions in paper format for the issuance of exit-re-entry visas. – SG

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has a list of companies on its website offering employment for workers wanting to change jobs.
This is one of a number of services outlined by the embassy yesterday to help its nationals. There is also advice provided for those wanting to go home.
A press note said that the embassy continues to get requests from companies in Saudi Arabia offering employment to Indians who wish to change their jobs. This information is available on its website.
The embassy is currently studying the details of the labor concessions announced by the Saudi authorities on Friday and will provide regular advisories on any clarifications needed.
The embassy also advised the Indian community to regularly check its website atwww.indianembassy.org.sa for information published in various regional languages.
It also said that the embassy would continue to collect emergency certificate (EC) applications from those wanting to leave Saudi Arabia on exit visas. Those who have submitted EC applications would get their papers in due course.
Workers also have to provide information on whether they want to continue to work in Saudi Arabia by using the concessions announced by the Saudi authorities on Friday. The embassy will contact each EC applicant either by telephone or through volunteers. The embassy will establish EC distribution centers in various cities in the Kingdom as required.
It said the embassy in Riyadh has strengthened its 24-hour help desk with more people and more telephone lines. The telephone lines are 01-4884697, 01-4881982, 0501699879, 0501700106, 0501699895, 0501699894. The helpline numbers of the consulate in Jeddah are 02-2611483, 02-2614093 and 0596810574.
The embassy also announced that the ambassador would hold a meeting with volunteers and Indian community workers on the embassy premises at the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh at 4 p.m. on May 14. The consul general in Jeddah will hold a similar meeting with community workers at 4 p.m. on May 15. Another meeting of volunteers and community workers will be held at the International Indian School, Dammam at 6 p.m. on May 17.
The embassy thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and the authorities for the concessions. It added that the Riyadh Embassy and consulate in Jeddah are fully equipped to help the Indian community.

Inform the competent authority or the police passports in places where there is no Passport for the loss of a residence permit.
A letter from the employer or head of the family's resident director of the Passport Department, explaining the reasons for the loss of residence permit and the place in which I lost.
Present original valid passport and photo copy of the last IQAMA, if any.
Fill in the form your loss and is located in the Department of Passports.
Accomplish the applicable form.. And match information as it is written in the passport .. And sign the form and stamped the seal of the employer.
If the remaining period of lost IQAMA is one year or less, the applicable fee shall be paid for one year (SR 500) and at one of branches of banks licensed to do so.
Submit 2 recent photos (size 4cm × 6cm).
Payment of fees, loss of a fine residence permit (SR 1000).

After completing the required documents and submit the application the applicant must review the management of passports in the next day to receive a residence permit.

RIYADH — There are 46,407 prisoners in Saudi jails, according to an official report published on Sunday.

The report said 51 percent of the prisoners are foreigners of various nationalities. The Saudi prisoners number 22,659, Al-Hayat newspaper said quoting the report.

The report said the number of prisoners involved in traffic and civil rights cases is 915. Some 1,400 prisoners, representing 5.4 percent of the total, are serving time for alcohol-related charges.

There are 3,851 female prisoners, 175 of them Saudi, the report noted.

Riyadh has the largest number of prisoners with 11,982, representing 25 percent of the total number of inmates in the Kingdom. Of this number, 5,901 prisoners have not stood trial yet while 6,081 have been handed various prison sentences.

Jeddah came second with 9,545 prisoners while Al-Baha and Al-Jouf regions have the lowest incarceration rate.

There are 403 prisoners in Al-Baha and 423 in Al-Jouf. There are 22,484 Saudi male inmates compared with 20,072 expatriate inmates, according to the report.

Most of the non-Saudi prisoners are involved in drug cases with Jeddah housing the largest number of foreign prisoners at 3,888 followed by Riyadh at 3,106. Al-Baha has the lowest number of non-Saudi prisoners at 14. The total number of Saudi and non-Saudi prisoners sentenced in drugs-related cases is 7,421.

The report also said that 4,287 Saudi and 4,349 non-Saudi prisoners were involved in robbery cases. There are 2,283 Saudis incarcerated for murder and assault, and the number of non-Saudis jailed for similar charges is 1,368.

The report indicated that the number of bribery and forgery cases has increased. It said 3,166 of such cases involved non-Saudis while the number of Saudis convicted or accused of such charges is just 735. The number of non-Saudi female prisoners involved in bribery cases has risen to 1,121.

Saudi extends deadline for firms to hire nationals

Saudi Arabia extended the deadline for businesses in the kingdom to hire nationals by two months to June 1, Al Riyadh newspaper reported.

The extension, granted by Prince Khalid Bin Bandar Bin Abdul Aziz, the governor of the capital Riyadh, applies to firms operating in the gold, vegetable and used furniture markets as well as real estate and public services offices.

The kingdom is trying to curb unemployment by enforcing labour laws and implementing a drive to hire nationals instead of expatriates.

Saudi Arabia, which has the largest economy in the Arab world, hires about 1m foreign workers a year while about 1m Saudis receive unemployment benefits through its Hafiz welfare programme that gives them about SAR2,000 a month.

According to official figures from the Central Department of Statistics, the kingdom has an unemployment rate of 12.2 percent among citizens. However, the number is more than 30 percent among the youth, depending on various sources.

The largest exporter of oil in the world, which has a growing population approaching 30m hosts more than 9m foreign workers from across the Arab world and Asia which send billions of dollars in remittances back home.

The kingdom will begin deporting thousands of foreign workers who work for employers other than their specified sponsors on their work visas.

Saudi Arabia which is spending more than US$500bn on its infrastructure is earmarking a large portion of the funds for housing to meet the growing demand for its growing population. The International Monetary Fund estimates the kingdom's gross domestic product will expand 4.2 percent this year down from about 6 percent in 2012

Expats and Saudis will be urged to include their postal address in their identification card (ID), said Mohammed Saleh bin Taher Benten, president of Saudi Post Corporation.
“The Shoura Council has already approved a new law to register the home address with the postal company, but the law has not yet been implemented as the Council of Ministers still has to approve that decision,” he said.
“The council yesterday voted on the need to speed up the procedures. The vote was based on a recommendation of the communication committee at Saudi Post. We are ready for people who need a postal address and they can have it for free. We are only waiting for the Council of Ministers to approve this law,” said the Saudi Post president.
According to a report of the Shoura Council, the new law will be obligatory. Each citizen, resident, organization and company will have to register a postal address with the postal company and include this in the data provided on their ID.
“The move is aimed at facilitating government actions that require an emergency response so the government can provide services to the citizen,” he said.
Customers of banking and telecommunication companies should update their information based on the information provided in the Saudi Post. The information includes the driver’s license, the national identity card, the family record and travel documents.

WhatsApp, Skype faces ban in Saudi Arabia

WhatsApp, Viber and Skype users in the Kingdom face the risk of being barred from these applications if the owners of these communication platforms do not provide a monitoring server by the end of this week.
The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) is threatening blockage of programs and applications that provide conversation and visual communication because they use encrypted connections, an Arabic daily reported.
According to two informed sources who work at local telecommunication companies, this issue has been at the top of the agenda of discussions during meetings between heads of telecom companies and the CITC over the past 20 days. The meetings have finally concluded with the CITC demanding that it be allowed to monitor the encrypted applications. In addition, officials from the CITC have cautioned that they might block these programs if they fail to reach an acceptable solution with the owners.
In an initial reaction to the news, both Saudi and non-Saudi users have expressed anger and annoyance, as some of the applications that might be halted have become vital conduits of communication between family and friends.
“I would be very disappointed if CITC disconnects this server; I use it every day to talk to my wife and children who live in India,” said Indian schoolteacher Mohammed Akram. “Viber is the cheapest way to reach my children. It enables me to chat with them, share pictures and send voice messages. If they ban it, I would have to go back to talking to my children once a month without seeing them until I visit them,” he added.
Saudi students on scholarships who use the Skype video application to contact their parents are also disappointed.
“I really don’t understand what they mean by monitoring. Are they going to tap into the conversations I have with my mother and sister? Does that mean they are going to have to wear the veil when they open the camera for me?” pondered Khalid Tunsi, a finance student in the US. “If they cut off these applications, it will make my life really difficult because with this technology I am able to see my mother every day,” he added.
Tunsi’s mother is also concerned with this news, saying this application has bought her comfort. “No one understands what I’m going through; my only son is living a million miles away and he only receives one ticket per year from the Saudi Cultural Attaché to come home for a visit,” she said. “If they take these applications away from me, I will really be depressed.”
WhatsApp is an application that businessmen such as Hani Ayyash use to communicate with his employees and clients for free. “I have created a group for my colleagues and employees, especially when I’m traveling, as I need to be informed about any updates,” he said. “Is CITC giving us lower rates after banning free applications that everyone uses? I believe they should provide us with a replacement because all we want is to obtain lower rates and free communication technology,” he added.

Issuing the verdict, the presiding judge said the ministry’s decision was in violation of the prevailing rules and regulations, Al-Hayat newspaper reported on Monday.

“The ministry took this decision without considering its implications. The ministry should realize the flaws in its decision and examine the aberrations,” the court said while noting that the ministry’s act contravenes the principles of Islamic jurisprudence as well as the laws of the country.

RIYADH — It was a historic day for women in Saudi Arabia as 30 members took their seats in the Shoura Council to attend the activities of its sixth session here, Sunday.

Three women were named as deputy chairpersons of three committees. Dr. Thurayya Obeid was named Deputy Chairwoman of the Human Rights and Petitions Committee, Dr. Zainab Abu Talib, Deputy Chairwoman of the Information and Cultural Committee, and Dr. Lubna Al-Ansari, Deputy Chairwoman of the Health Affairs and Environment Committee.

Dr. Lubna Al-Ansari said: “The functions of the committees is to discuss reports, regulations, rules and international agreements.”

Last Tuesday, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah opened the activities of the first year of the Sixth Session of the Shoura Council.

The 150 members of the Shoura, including 30 women for the first time in history, were sworn in before King Abdullah at his palace.

Addressing the Shoura members, King Abdullah said: “I am happy to meet you in the opening of the first year of the Sixth Session of the Shoura Council, in which a woman participates. I pray to Almighty Allah to bestow on you wise opinion and consultation.”

The King outlined the goal of the Shoura, saying, “Our concerted goal is based on the trust in Allah Almighty to help you activate the work of the Shoura with the most rational thinking without any hasty move and noisy uproar. The development for which we all are striving at must be gradual. You know that your place in the Shoura is not simply an honor but that of one charged with duty and representing all sections of Saudi society.

Therefore, this job has its own responsibility,” the King said, calling the members to show reasoning in their discussions and allow rationality to prevail in issues it has to deal with.

JEDDAH — The Directorate General of Passports has started implementing a Council of Ministers decision allowing Saudi women married to foreigners to sponsor their children.

Those eligible under the ruling will be granted residency permits (iqamas) with their mothers named as the sponsors.Under the decision, the mother can also bring her children who are living abroad back to the Kingdom if they have no criminal records.
The decision made it clear that the government would pay the iqama issuance fees.
Directorate spokesman Col. Badr Bin Mohammed Al-Malik said the decision has empowered Saudi women married to foreign husbands to transfer the iqamas of their children to their own civil records.
He said the children would have the right to work in the private sector while still on the sponsorship of their Saudi mothers.
The spokesman said the decision also gave foreign men married to Saudi women the right to work in the private sector while on the sponsorship of their wives on condition that the title on their iqamas should be written as "husband of a Saudi wife" and that they should have valid passports enabling them to return to their homes at any time.
Al-Malik said another condition is that the marriage should have been approved by the government, the marriage contract authenticated and the children have the necessary documents proving their identities.
A number of Saudi women married to foreigners have expressed happiness over the decision, saying it has solved a lot of problems and made their lives much easier.
They said they are so grateful that the decision has given them the right to sponsor their own children and ensured them with free medical treatment in government hospitals and free education in government schools.
Susan Al-Hassani, who has been married to a Yemeni man for nine years, said: “This decision will enable me to ensure the future of my children.

“I am now relieved that my children will not have to look for a sponsor when they reach the age of puberty.”She said she will not only be able to sponsor her children but will not have to worry about paying the iqama issuance fees since the government will do that on her behalf.
"I can picture the happiness on the faces of my children. They can now be employed by the private sector while under my sponsorship."
Fatihiya Al-Shirbeeni, who has been married to an Egyptian for 27 years and has eight children with him, said: “My husband transferred his iqama to three establishments before but the last one refused him permission to sponsor our children.
“The decision has given me the right to sponsor my children, who can now join the private sector like other Saudi citizens.”
Maha Al-Halwani said she has five children with her foreign husband.

The eldest, who is 21, is now studying in Egypt under the sponsorship of his father.
"When my son completes his university education, he can come back to the Kingdom under my sponsorship and can find a job in the private sector."

Nahla, another Saudi woman with a foreign husband, hoped that foreign husbands would also be treated like Saudi citizens in jobs, especially in the private sector, so they are able to sustain their families.
Dr. Hussain Al-Sharif, supervisor of the Makkah branch of the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR), hailed the decision and said it has resolved many issues faced by Saudi women married to foreign husbands.

He said under the ruling, the foreign husband of a Saudi woman would be counted as a Saudi citizen for companies looking to meet Saudization targets.
Lawyer and legal consultant Khaled Al-Siraihi said the decision has ensured the children of a Saudi wife and a foreign husband of their rights to residency, free medical treatment and education as well as employment in the private sector.
"Under the decision, these children will be counted as Saudis in the Nitaqat program." He explained that under this decision a Saudi wife could recruit her foreign husband if he is living abroad and transfer his iqama onto her name if he is living in the Kingdom.

In addition to boosting brainpower, eating fish may also lower your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. If you’re not a fan of fish, consider turning to fish oil supplements. Limit calories and saturated fat. Drink green tea. Green tea contains polyphenols, powerful antioxidants that protect against free radicals that can damage brain cells. Among many other benefits, regular consumption of green tea may enhance memory and mental alertness and slow brain aging.
Drink wine (or grape juice) in moderation. Keeping your alcohol consumption in check is key, since alcohol kills brain cells. But in moderation (around 1 glass a day for women; 2 for men), alcohol may actually improve memory and cognition. Red wine appears to be the best option, as it is rich in resveratrol, a flavonoid that boosts blood flow in the brain and reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Other resveratrol-packed options include grape juice, cranberry juice, fresh grapes and berries, and peanuts.

personal domain email with gmail

Gmail is without doubt, the daddy of email providers. Anything else pales in comparison and to be honest, i haven’t even tried anything else lately as gmail does everything I want and more.

When setting up a website, particularly for a business/professional, you can use gmail in two ways;

info@sitename.com
infositename@gmail.com

The latter is a simple click and go setup which just involves filling out a few details then registering your @gmail.com address. The former is a little more complicated, but i’m sure you’ll agree it’s worth it. It’s little detail like this which helps build confidence in potential clients and lets them know you’re a perfectionist.

Anyway, i’ll now guide you through a 3 step process.

1. Assuming of course, you have your own domain name, go to google.com/a and set up a free account. Fill in all your details, then choose a user name and password etc….

2. Once you have that done, you’ll get through to an admin panel like below and you’ll need to verify you own the domain.

The easiest way to do this to to create a file called googlehostedservice.html and put whatever bit of text it says to put inside it (something like ‘googleffffffffb7815a91′).

Upload that to your root folder i.e http://mysite.com/ so that once uploaded, you should be able to see the text you uploaded at http://mysite.com/googlehostedservice.html

3. Next you’ll need to change the domains MX records which will basically surrender email hosting to gmail, rather than your own host.

Log in to your cpanel or equivalent, provided by your domain host. Google provide step by step guides for many hosts here, but i’ll try my best to explain how to do this using cpanel.

Once logged in to cpanel, click on ‘mail’ as seen below;

now click on ‘Modify Mail Exchanger’

Once you’ve done that, you should see your domain name, click ‘change an mx entry’ at the bottom of the page.

Choose your domain name from a drop down list, then add ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM to the next field and click ‘change’.

If all went to plan, that should be itYou now have a personal domain email with gmail

Note that it may take a while (up to 2 days) for google to verify and the new changes to kick in to effect, so you mightn’t be able to send/receive email for a while. You’re new email login will now be http://mail.google.com/a/mysite.com

Of course the other benefits of using gmail are basically 100% uptime, water tight security and an almost unlimited storage tank for those emails (6gb at the minute).
