Dhul Hijjah is the twelfth and final month in the Islamic calendar. It is a very sacred month in Islam, and is the month in which the Hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca, takes place. The Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, and is obligatory for all Muslims who are able to perform it.

The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are considered to be the most sacred days of the year. These days are a time of great spiritual significance for Muslims, and are a time for increased worship and devotion. Many Muslims choose to fast during these days, and to give extra charity.

Jabir b. ‘Abdullah (r.a) reported:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) took hold of my hand in the future (and led me) to his residence. There was presented to him some pieces of bread, whereupon he said: Is there no condiment? They (the members of his household) said: No, except some vinegar. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Vinegar could be a good condiment.

Jabir said: i've got always loved vinegar since I heard it trom Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ).

Talha said: i've got always loved vinegar since I heard about it from Jabir.

Muhammad (S.A.W) said: “Break your fast by eating dates as it is purifying.”

“Whoever finds dates should break his fast with them and the one who does not should break his fast with water because it is pure”

“Whoever eats seven date fruits of the high land “Medina Munawwarah” in the morning, no poison or sorcery shall hurt him that day”

The Prophet (S.A.W) used to combine dates with bread sometimes. At other times he mixed ripe dates with cucumber, or dates combined with ghee. He used to take all varieties of dates, but he preferred the variety called Ajwah.

Muhammad (S.A.W) likes to have dates mixed with other fruit too some time prophet mixes the dates with cucumber and ghee. He like ajwa dates so much because he knows the benefit of Ajwah at that time when no science exist in proper way how Muhammad (S.A.W) knows Ajwah is best because he knows everything of this universe is for Muhammad (S.A.W).

Always the first word that comes to mind when we discuss the religion of Islam is unity. Islam is a way of life that promotes peace, integrity, dignity, humility, justice and mercy and all these qualities are combined with serenity (calmness) that comes from obedience to Almighty Allah.

Perhaps the greatest of these qualities is mercy. It is one of the Quran's defining concepts.

“Certainly, We have brought them a Book (the Quran) which We have explained in detail with knowledge, - guidance, and a mercy to a people who believe.” (Quran 7:52)

Grace is that ethereal ideal that expresses gentleness, grace, empathy, meditation, commitment, and forgiving. When these attributes are found in this universe, they are merely a reflection of the mercy of Allah in His existence. Allah said clearly that Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon him, was a mercy for all of creation, not just his family and friends Or the Arab country, or the people of the seventh century A.D., and not the people alone.

“And We have sent you O Muhammad not but as a mercy for all of humankind, jinn, and all that exists.” (Quran 21:107)

Allah, the Originator of humans a Allah, the Creator of humans and animals, has made us subject to animals. nd animals, has made us subject to animals.For the food we eat and the milk we drink, we rely on animals.For love and companionship, we bring animals to our homes.Because of clinical animal research, we survive serious disease and live longer.
To gain respect for the amazing diversity of life on earth, we visit zoos and aquariums.
We take advantage of specially trained dogs that detect drugs, guide the blind, and help the disabled.

Allah says in the Quran:

"And for you, the cattle, He made them.
You have warm clothes and (other) advantages in them, and you feed from them. And therein is beauty for you, when you drive them back (home) and when you send them out (to pasture).And they're carrying your heavy loads to regions you couldn't reach but to yourself with great distress. Surely your Lord is Compassionate, Merciful.And (he made) horses, mules and asses for you to ride on them and as an ornament.
And He creates something you don't know." (Quran 16:5-8)

The mercy of Islam extends beyond human beings to all living creations of Allah. Islam prohibits cruelty to animals. Islam required kindness to animals and cruelty to them a sufficient reason for a person to be thrown into the Fire!

The embodiment of kindness was Prophet Muhammad, showing compassion to all those around him, parents, children, acquaintances, strangers, and even enemies.
He also treated with respect and mercy the environment and animals.
He taught his followers that they should be treated with dignity and due care as animals are part of the creation of God.

Prophet Muhammad's teachings remind us that humanity has been brought on this planet to be the guardian of the existence of God.

The words and deeds of Prophet Muhammad make it clear that it is not only completely unacceptable to cause defenseless beings pain and suffering, but we will also be accountable to God for it.

"If anyone kills a sparrow for sport, on the Day of Judgment the sparrow will cry out,"

O Lord!
That person killed me in vain! For any useful purpose, he didn't kill me.

The prophet was so emphatic about feeding animals; no matter how great they are, feeding animals or helping them to drink will remit your sins. Planting a tree from which a wild bird can feed is sure to bring you rewards.Starving an animal to death will be mete out with hell.

The Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's grace and blessings be on him,

“Whoever kills a sparrow or anything bigger than that without a just cause, Allah will hold him accountable on the Day of Judgement.” The listeners asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is a just cause?” He replied, “That he will kill it to eat, not simply to chop off its head and then throw it away.”

Islam expects humanity to treat with respect and dignity all animals (all living creatures-birds, sea creatures, and insects). Prophet Muhammad continuously advised people to show kindness. He forbade the practice of cutting tails and manes of horses, of branding animals at any soft spot, and of keeping horses saddled unnecessarily.

If the Prophet saw, any animal over-burdened or ill fed he would speak mildly to the owner and say, “Fear Allah in your treatment of animals.”

However, refraining from physical cruelty is not enough; abstaining from mental cruelty is equally as important. Even a bird’s emotional distress should be treated seriously.One of the companions of Prophet Muhammad says, "We were on a journey and we saw a bird with its two chicks during the absence of the Prophet; we took them.
In the sky, the mother bird was approaching us, pounding her wings in sorrow.
When Prophet Muhammad came back, he said, "Who has hurt the feelings of this bird by taking his chicks? Return them to her.”

A Companion of the Prophet came to him in another story, holding baby chicks in his clothes and noting that the mother bird had floated over them.He was sent back to the same bush to return the chicks.

Pagan superstitions and polytheistic practices in pre-Islamic times included acts of torture and animal cruelty.
Islam condemned this and put a stop to all such practices.

When Prophet Muhammad and his companions migrated to Medina, they saw people cut off the humps of camels and sheep's fat tails for food.

The Prophet forbade them from doing this, saying, "Whatever is cut off from an animal while it is still alive, it is carrion and it is unlawful to eat." In Islam, the laws of slaughtering animals are very stringent and set.

It is essential to protect animals from pain and undue suffering

“Allah has ordained kindness (and excellence) in everything. If you want to kill (animals), do it in the best way, and when you slaughter, do it in the best way by sharpening the first, and putting the animal at ease.”

If you set your dog (for chase), mention Allah's name if he catches the match and you hit it while it is still alive, cut, its throat quickly (so it won’t suffer).”

In the treatment of animals, human beings must strike a balance,Allah has put all living creatures on this planet for our benefit,They are not on the same level as humans, but they should not be treated with cruel treatment either,It is the duty of humanity to see that the elements provide food, water, and shelter.

Living creatures must not be overburdened, abused, or tortured and doing so will surely result in Allah’s just punishment. A true believer in Allah shows his belief in respect for the whole of creation, and the character and actions of Prophet Muhammad are a shining example of respect for all.for all that exists.

In this regard, as Ibn Umar said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say, whoever mutilates a living creature and then does not repent, God will make him mutilated on the Day of Judgment”

For the sake of brevity, we condense animals rights granted by Mohammed the messenger of Islam in the following points:

Animals are to be protected against any harm.
Animals are to be given utmost care
Animals are to be lavished with mercy
Animals are to be fed
Animals are not to be overburdened or oppressed
Animals are to be given health care.
Animals are to live in clean environment
Animals are not to be cursed
Animals are not to be mutilated.
Animals should not be killed for food
Nothing to be held in their necks lest they are suffocated.
Baby animals are to given full suckling
Animals are not to be burnt with fire
Before other animals, animals are not slaughtered in the best way.
Animals are not to be given bad food.

“Make Miswak a must not be headless as there are twenty-four advantages in Miswak, the biggest advantage is that Allah (swt), will be happy, wealth will boost, breath will freshen, gums will be strengthened, headaches will be relieved, toothache will be relieved and the angles will shake hands because of the light from the face and teeth.”

The wisdom underlying the usage of the Miswaak after rising from sleep is that during sleep bad vapours rise from the stomach towards the mouth. In addition to a shift in the sense of taste, this leads to poor smell in the mouth. Using the Miswaak removes unhealthy smell and rectifies the shift that happened in the flavour.

Ruleof Miswak

The Miswak is not supposed to be too difficult or too soft.
It is made from trees such as Zaytoon, Peelu and Neem, but not from a fragrant tree.
Rub the Miswak at least 3 times on the gums and dip each time in water.
Place the Miswak upright when not being used.
The Miswak should not be more dense than the ring finger and longer than the side
Use the rigt hand to use Miswak.
Clean at least 3 times a day of your miswak.
Do not use Miswak in an up or down movement, but apply it from right to left as the gums are likely to be damaged.
Using the Miswak in the washroom is unliked.
Don't use it while lying because poor temper is possible.
Using Miswak in ablution is a Sunnah highlighted
Miswak is Sunnah for ablution and not for Salaah.
Use the Miswak, not both, from one end.
Cut the Miswak's bristles (tips) every 1-2 days and start to bite fresh to make it soft.
It is permissible to use Miswak whilst fasting.
You'll get the advantage of liberating 2 slaves to use the Miswak after dinner.

Six day of fasting and get a lot of benefit

Its Sunnah ( Tradition of Holy Prophet ) to fast for six days in Shawwal, as narrated in the following Hadeeth by Abu Ayyub Ansaru (R.A) that the Holy Prophet has said, "If you retain the fasts of Ramadan throughout your life and keep six consecutive fasts in Shawwal, it'll be as if you've got unbroken a life of fasts, and if you fast for six consecutive days in Shawwal, it will be as if you've fasted all year round."(Muslim)

However, it is better to make up for the missed fasts separately from Shawwal's six-day fasting, as some scholars believe that when combined with make-up (qadha) fasts one does not receive the reward of optional (nafl) fasting.

Mostly it is hard to remove these outstanding pictures from their memories that they recall of their mothers. These images that ran through his mind from a early life remain ever green in his mind, and he cannot help but to remember them with honour. He recalls them simply, clear words that his mother left his soul with, and these words grow to become signs on his path and guiding lights on his mission.

In Quran-e-Majid Allah PAK says:

"And your Lord has ordered you to serve Him and your parents with goodness, not (any) but Him.If either or both of them achieve old age with you, do not tell them (as much as) "Ugh" or chide them, and talk a generous phrase to them. And with compassion create yourself submissive to them, and say: O my Lord! Have compassion on them, for they brought me up (when I was) a little. "Quran-e-Majid (17:23-24)

Again In Quran-e-Majid Allah PAK says:

And We have commanded man in respect of his parents— his mother bears him with faintings on faintings and his weaning takes two years— to say: be grateful to Me and to each your parents; to Me is the conditional coming.
And if they argue with you that you should associate with Me that which you have no understanding of, do not obey them, and be kind to them in this universe, and follow the manner Noble Qur'an (31:14-15)

In the life of Muhammad(S.A.W) one companion came to him and asked

“O Prophet Muhammad , who is most deserving of my kind treatment?”

He replied: “Your mother.”

The companion asked: “Then who?”

He replied: “Your mother.”

The companion asked again: “Then who?”

He replied: “Your mother.”

The companion asked again: “Then who?”

He replied: “Your father.”

A companion came to the Muhammad(S.A.W), blessings and peace be upon him, and said

"O Messenger of Allah, I want to Jihad and I want your advice." Rasool(S.A.W) asked him, "Have you a mother?" companion said, "Yes." He said,Don't leave her as long as Heaven is in her feets ".

Generosity Of Muhammad(S.A.W)

The generosity of Prophet Muhammad , He never turned down anyone who asked him for anything if he had something to give, if a man once asked him to give him a garment that he was wearing, so he took it off and handed it over to him.

When RasoollAllah was more joyful than giving the gifts to every Sahabi on the spot,

Muhammad(S.A.W) never turned anyone away empty from his house and always gave preference to others over himself. Muhammad(S.A.W) would give even when he himself was in need.
The following story is an excellent illustration.
One day a poor Arabi came to the Prophet ﷺ. He asked him to provide him with somethingThat day, however, the Prophet Muhammad had no food or money at all.
He said, "I don't have to give you anything now. Go and buy what you need in my name and I will pay the debt.” That Arabi was overjoyed and left.
The Sahabi near the Prophet were upset because he was overstretching himself.

One of them stood up and said, “O Prophet of Allah! This person has come two or three times before; he asks something from you and you always give it to him. Now you have nothing to give. Allah does not lay a burden on you that you cannot cope with!”

The Prophet didn't like what was said. Another sahabi stood up and said, “O Prophet of Allah! Give as much as you wish! Do not be afraid that Allah, the Owner of the Throne, would make you bad.
A smile across his face and he aforesaid."That is what i even have been commanded to do by allah"
On another occasion after the Battle of Hunayn, a Bedouin pulled so violently at the collar of the Prophet’s robe that he left a mark on the Prophet’s ﷺ neck.
The Bedouin then said, "Give me from what you have in terms of the riches of God, from the wealth that is neither the wealth of your father nor the wealth of your wife." The Prophet Muhammad also turned to himself, smiled gently, and given him a generous share of the wealth.

The Munafiqun, were the most dangerous crowd and posed the extreme threat to RasulAllah ﷺ and the community of Muslims. They professed Islam yet did everything possible to mockery and mock at the Prophet ﷺ and his Sahabi.

Allah defines them in various places in the QuranMajid.

One verse states, “And when it is said to them, “Come, the Messenger of Allah will ask forgiveness for you,” they turn their heads aside and you see them evading while they are arrogant.” [63:5]

In another verse, Allah says, “The Munafiq men and Munafiq girls are of 1 another.
They enjoin what's wrong and forbid what's right and shut their hands.
They have forgotten God, therefore He has forgotten them [accordingly]. Indeed, the Munafiqun – it is they who are the defiantly disobedient.” [Quran: 9:67]

The leader of the Munafiqun was Abdullah Bin Ubay bin Salool who covered his hatred for Islam and schemed to harm the Muslim community. Up to the last day of his life, he would take every opportunity to hurt them.
Notwithstanding this, RasulAllah has been gentle and kind towards him and has practiced the greatest forbearance in the expectation that he will be able to soften and embrace Islam.
As RasulAllah ibn Ubayy came back from the Battle of Tabuk, Abdullaah ibn Ubayy died.
RasulAllah not only gave his funeral prayer, but he wrapped him in one of his own robes, despite the great harm that he had inflicted on the Prophet of Allah and the Believers.

Everyone around the Prophet ﷺ benefited from generosity.He treated the traveler as a guest, provided food for the hungry, appreciated good treatment for his friends, visited the sick, and gave without fear of poverty to the weak. He handled everything well, whether rich or poor, friend or enemy.
If we are able to emulate but a shadow of his generosity, we will illuminate the world and make it a better place for all.

Concept of Islam about Neighbourhood (Neighborhood)

Islam is a loving religion that teaches love and care for humanity and spread justice in all across the world. There is no difference of geography, religion, caste, beliefs and society, all are equal. No one is superior to another, but only those who fear Allah.

Allah has advised us that neighbors in society are significant sections. People will have a hard and miserable life without getting good neighbors.Accordingly Allah informed us to look after the neighbours, to take care of them , to keep good relations and to make sure that we have good neighbours. Allah has connected them with groups of families, friends, orphans, poor and needy in caring for neighbors.

In Surah An-Nisa' (The Women) Allah says:

"Serve God and enter with Him no partners; and do good to families, family, children, neighbors in need, strangers, companions.. by your side, the wayfarer (you meet), and what your right hands have: God doesn't love the greedy, the selfish." [4:36]

In this Ayah, Allah (swt) classified three kinds of neighbors for us to care for. They are:

A relative neighbor
A strange fellow neighbor
A friend Neighbor

It is important to look after all these neighbors and any Muslim or non-Muslim neighbor in the best and best way.

Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) outlined how to look after our neighbors. He also insisted on satisfying and satisfying our neighbors with all possible means.

In one Hadith, the Prophet (pbuh) says:

Narrated by Ibn Umar and Aisha (May Allah be pleased with them) saying that the Messenger of Allah said:

Angel Jibril instructed me to take care of the neighbor on an ongoing basis until I believed Allah would make him an inheritor.

The Prophet (pbuh) told us in another Hadith that the one who is nice to his neighbors is the best individual. The Hadith is as follows:

Ibn Umar (May God be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (pbuh) was saying:

Allah's best friend is the one who is nice to his companions, and Allah's best neighbor is the one is good to his neighbors. [Tarmizi]

There's even more Ahadith about the best way to treat neighbors. It is noted in one Hadith that we should be kind to our neighbors: narrated by Abi Shuraih Al-Khuza'i (May Allah be happy with him) that the Prophet (pbuh) said:

Whoever believes in Allah and Judgment Day, let him do his neighbor good ... [ Muslim ]

In another Hadith, the following reported that we should let them enjoy the food that we cook:

Narrated by Abu Zarr Al-Ghaffari (May Allah be pleased with him) saying that the Prophet (pbuh) said:

O Abu Zarr! Whenever you cook meals, boost their content and take care of them

your neighbours. [Muslim]

Patience, tolerance, and kindness are some of the primary aspects of Islam religion. Islam teaches us to be extra careful with other people’s religious views and not impose our own on them. It teaches us to be kind towards them, help them if they are in distress, even if they do not share the religious faith. if you have a neighbor who is a non-Muslim, you need to be even more respectful of them.

Because Islam has rights and duties for neighbours as well, regardless of what religion they belong to. Even if your neighbour is unkind towards you, misbehaves with you or creates mischief for you, you are not to reply to that behaviour in the same way. You need to be the bigger person and let Allah deal with it. The life of your beloved Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) is full of such incidents where he was treated badly by people and he chose to take the higher road and forgive them. He did not get even with them.

Kindness is a language that everyone understands, even the deaf. If one is kind to your non-Muslim neighbor, you are telling a lot about yourself as a person. Not only this, but you are also telling a lot about your religion, which these days were so harshly for being a religion of violence. In a way, you are helping in building up the image of Islam, even if it is just a handful of non-Muslims, who live next door to you.

Be Respectful of their Religious Views and Events:

Just because your neighbor does not celebrate Eid and celebrates Christmas; instead, it does not mean they are different from you. Islam teaches us that no man is superior to another on the basis of religion, race, color or creed. Hence, be respectful of your neighbor’s religious views, no matter what religion they belong to. Do not mock them or their religious events. What they do, what they believe in and what they practice, has nothing to do with you.

We are living in a rat race society. We live in a community where there are very few individuals who care about others. We live in a community where, without due regard, individuals kill each other. We are living in a society where neighbors don't know one another. Neighbors of the same building even may not know one another. People are scared of one another. The rate of crime has increased tremendously. People might see see each other hurt and killed, and their answer would be, "It's not my job to get engaged." They might see someone screaming, "Help! Help!" Very few of the watchers or pedestrians can come to the aid. A neighbour may scream, "Help! Help!". Very few, if any, might be interested in helping, though. Each one is looking after himself.

If you want to lower the crime rate in society, Muslims need to set up their own neighborhood ; otherwise they should understand their neighbors. Together with their neighbors, they should plan policies to safeguard their community, their families, and their assets. They are designed to safeguard their kids against drugs, alcohols, rape, adultery, and other social vices. There are enough Silent Majority individuals who would be prepared to assist and work together to safeguard society against the wrongdoers.

Secular for this day to day dwelling and religious for his smooth life on earth and hereafter.
One of the distinctive options of Islam is its stress on information. The Holy Qur’an and the Islamic Tradition (Sunnah) invite Muslims to seek and acquire knowledge and wisdom and to hold men of knowledge in high esteem.

Islam is our greatest gift. We have to be thankful for this gift. We have to render to Allah His due. Allah has given us such a lot by creating us a section of the Islamic Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad (S) therefore we have a tendency to should entirely commit ourselves as followers of the Prophet (S). We must become true Muslims.

"Read within the name of your Lord who created”

“Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood”

“Read, and your Lord is the most Generous”

“Who taught by the pen”

“Taught man that which he knew not.”

(Holy Qur’an 96:1-5)

Looking at both, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ-Sallallaho Alaihi Wa’Sallam) said: “They are both engaged in useful pursuits. But I am a teacher. I shall be part of the group assembled to find out.” So he (S.A.W) sat with the group of students.

bn Mas’ud (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

” The position of solely 2 persons is enviable; the person whom Allah bestowed wealth empowering him to pay it within the means of morality, and the person whom Allah gave knowledge with that he adjudges and that he teaches to others“.

According to Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah, Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said:

” one scholar of faith is additional formidable against shaytaan than thousand devout persons.”

Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam inspired all Muslims to accumulate data and share it. He said:
“Acquire data, for he who acquires it in the way of Allah performs an act of piety; he who speaks of it, praises the Lord; he who seeks it, adores Allah; he who dispenses instruction in it, bestows alms; and he who imparts it to others, performs an act of devotion to Allah”. (Bukhari, Muslim)

Knowledge is identified in Islam as worship. The deed of information is worship, reading the al-Qur'an and meditative upon it's worship, motion to realize information is worship. The practice of knowledge is connected with ethics and morality with promoting virtue and combating vice, enjoining right and forbidding wrong.

The Prophet May Allah send peace and blessings upon him taught us what to do in every stage in life. This is one of the qualities that makes the religion of Islam very unique and standout from other religions which are practiced in many parts of the world.

The religion of Islam tells us what to do as soon as we open our eyes in the morning and throughout the remainder of the day and night till we close our eyes and go to sleep. For this and many other reasons the religion of Islam is the most complete.

As part of our Islamic faith, we believe that all matters are in the hands of Allah. However, for some of us our faith can get shaken during times of trials and hardships. It is during those times though that we should remind ourselves that a believer’s position and rank is raised in front of Allah and that such a hardship may very well be a sign of Allah’s love for the believer. This can help us in maintaining and even strengthening our faith.

In Surah Imran V 200 it says....

"O you who believe! Endure and be more patient.."

"And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirun (the patient)". - (Surah Baqarah V155)

"Only those who are patient shall receive their reward in full, without reckoning.'' -

(Surah Al Zumar V 10)

In Surah Ash Shura v43

"And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives, that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah.''

"Seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer). Truly, Allah is with As-Sabirun (the patient).'' - Surah Baqarah V 153

And Surah Muhammad v 31

"And surely, We shall try you till We test those who strive hard (for the Cause of Allah) and As-Sabirun (the patient)''

Prophet May Allah send peace and blessings upon him being patient.

The story takes place in the city not far away from Mecca , known as Ta'if. The Prophet May Allah send peace and blessings upon him went there to preach Islam to the locals. The Prophet May Allah send peace and blessings upon him approached the leaders of Taif and called them towards Islam.

Not only did the leaders reject the call to Islam but they reacted in such a way that they set young children upon the Prophet May Allah send peace and blessings upon him to taunt him, stone him and chase him out of Ta'if. The Holy Prophet May Allah send peace and blessings upon him bled till his footwear was drenched in blood. The Angel Jibra'eel Alayhis Salaam came to the Prophet May Allah send peace and blessings upon him and said, “If you wish, then I will give the order for two angels to crush the residents of Ta'if between the two mountains in which it lies.

” The Prophet May Allah send peace and blessings upon him replied in the negative and said,

“I am hopeful that their descendants will accept Islam.”

Abu Yahya Suhaib bin Sinan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,

"How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him".

[Muslim]

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,

"The strong man is not one who is good at wrestling, but the strong man is one who controls himself in a fit of rage.''

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Patience is of three types:

(i) Patience upon obedience – To be patient when finding it hard obeying Allah Taala's rules.

(ii) To be patient when a trouble befalls you.

(iii) To be patient when finding it hard to abstain from sins.

Every believer should have the above types of patience. The Prophet May Allah send peace and blessings upon him mentioned in a Hadith that patience is from Allah and hastiness is from the Devil.

The first type of patience is when obeying Allah and finding it difficult to do so. For example, waking up early for the fajr prayers. We should be patient and show gratitude when carrying out these deeds.

The second type of patience is when a trouble befalls you. For example, a vehicle accident or the loss of property. We should be patient at these times.

The third type of patience is when finding it hard to abstain from sins. For example, when a person listens to music and then finds out it is not allowed in Islam to listen to music, this person tries his utmost best to refrain from listening to music, even if he has the urge to do so.

Being patient is a great virtue and comes with a great reward.

Concept About Begging in Islam

Begging or Asking others for help may sound different, but when reviewed in Islamic context, they are more or less similar.

A Muslim is commanded to work hard to earn his livelihood; Islam disapproves ‘begging’. Begging eliminates a person’s honour and self-esteem, and his face gets deprived of charm, delight and gleam due to the curse of disgrace and humiliation. It also leads to exploitation of feelings of benevolent people by the ones who are habitual of asking others for help instead of working hard to meet their needs. It truly is a curse for society.

Our religion commands and encourages working and views it as a high virtue; it forbids and disapproves laziness and begging.

It is the duty of a Muslim to give food to the poor and to offer the one who asks for something. However, begging, which impairs human honor and virtue, shatters personality and leads to the exploitation of benevolent people’s pure feelings, is regarded as an ugly act.

The Religion of Islam puts great emphasis on making effort and earning one`s own living rather than going out ask others for it for no reason. It also devises a well balanced Muslim society for all where everyone gets its due share. Those who are rich

are directed to help out others in need through an obligatory action of Zakah (Charity). Allah SWT says in the Holy Quran:

“And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived.”

The above mentioned Ayah Kareema tells us about the great standing of believers who have enough wealth in the worldly life and those who take care of the disadvantaged people through it.

Few hadith which shall explain to us how the Prophet (PBUH) talked about ‘begging’ or ‘asking others for help’:

a) Narrated Az-Zubair bin Al-Awwam (RA): The Prophet (PBUH) said,

“It is better for anyone of you to take a rope and bring a bundle of wood over his back and sell it, and Allah will save his face because of that, rather than to ask the people who may or may not give.”

(Hadith No. 1471, Book of Zakat, Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 2).

Attention should be paid to the sentence ‘..and Allah will save his face because of that…’. It shows that begging impairs human honour and shatters his/her personality.

b) Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (RA): The Prophet (PBUH) said, “A man keeps on asking others for something till he comes on the ‘Day of Resurrection’ having no flesh on his face.”

(Hadith No. 1474, Book of Zakat, Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 2).

Correct Way of Treating Beggars

Islam has strictly forbidden from asking others for money or any other riches rather one has to earn its income by its own effort. According to a Prophetic (PBUH) Saying narrated by Abu Hurraira (R.A):

“It is better for one among you to bring a load of firewood on his back and give charity out of it (and satisfy his own need) and be independent of people, than that he should beg from people, whether they give him anything or refuse him. Verily the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin (charity) with your dependants.” (Muslim)

Therefore, anyone who has enough capacity that it can take care of its own issues should never ask others for affluence rather it should go out, become self-determining and make a living on its own so that it might even be able to aid others. In the end, Rasulullah ﷺ has regarded the charitable person being superior to the one that is being contributed. It means one should continue the good work of making donations to the poor for the sake of pleasing the Almighty Lord. Allah SWT says in the Holy Quran:

“So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him]. And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him].” [Quran, 93: 9-10]

It shows that a believer is not allowed to keep away someone just because that person is asking for a favor. This is because one does not actually know about the actual reason of the beggar behind its request. Thus, one should treat them in a pleasant manner, give them charity and avoid from offending them.

Permissibility Of Begging Under Special Conditions

Asking for material goods from the rich is not allowable if this act is being done just for the sake of accumulating wealth for personal gains. This kind of deed is strictly prohibited by the Holy Prophet ﷺ for it is only a source of collecting money for quenching one`s thirst of greed.

“He who begs the riches of others to increase his own is asking only for live coals, so let him ask a little or much.” (Muslim)

The above mentioned Hadith eloquently explains about the serious consequences of asking for one`s self-indulgence in materialistic increase. But not every person is asking for something deliberately without having much reason behind doing so. The Messenger ﷺ of God has prescribed the act of requesting others` help under three particular circumstances which are described in the following Hadith:

One who has undertaken a hamalah (pledged money for reconciliation between two persons), for him begging is permissible till he pays that off, after which he must stop it; A man whose property has been destroyed by a calamity which has smitten him, for him begging is permissible till he gets what will support life; And a person who has been smitten by poverty the genuineness of which is confirmed by three intelligent members of his people. For him begging is permissible till he gets what will support him. (Muslim)

Thus, there are three conditions under which the act of asking others is permissible beyond which it is forbidden: having promised a portion of money for the sake of settlement between two parties till it has been paid off; a miserable state of a person because it has lost all its capital and assets due to a natural disaster till it can sustain its life; and a person who`s dearth of wealth has been confirmed by three trust worthy individuals till that someone is able to make its situation better. It shows that Islam is not a rigid religion on the matter of asking others rather it gives enough room for it when there is no other way of survival.

In short, begging is not a desirable action according to the Religion of Peace, but only allowed in severe form of need. The rich also have the responsibility to search for such deprived people to help them through charity in order to relieve them from their misery.

Jumma Mubarak- an important day for Muslims

Friday is an important day for Muslims. Almost all of us will say that we know about the special Friday prayers that are offered at noon and the importance of these prayers. We shall, Insha’Allah try to see how much we know about Friday Prayers. In order to have distinct understanding of the subject, tried to make sub-topics and discuss about these sub-topics in brief one after another,which in turn sum up to give detailed explanation of the subject. May Allah make it simple for us to understand the topic.

IN THE LIGHT OF QURAN MAJID

The importance of Friday can be understood by the fact that there is a whole chapter dedicated to Friday (Surah Al-Juma’a, Chapter No. 62) in Holy Qur’an. There is direct instruction about Friday prayers for all believers.

It is mentioned in the QuranMajid:

"O ye who believe! When the call for prayer is proclaimed on Friday (the day of the assembly, yaum al-jummah), rush to the remembrance of Allah earnestly and leave business (and traffic): That is best for you if ye but knew!

And when the prayer is finished, then you may disperse through the land and seek Allah's reward, and often embrace Allah's praises. (and without stint): that ye may prosper"

IN THE LIGHT OF HADITH

Benefits of Jumma

Friday is a special day for Muslims. Many of us believe that every day is the same as all made by Allah. True, but it's unique Friday, it's got its own merits.Refer to following hadith:

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The greatest day on which the sun rises is Friday ; on it Adam (AS) was formed ; and on it he came down to earth ; and on it his repentance was accepted ; and on it he died ; and on it the Hour shall be formed ...."(Hadis No. 1046, Book of Salat, Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol.1).

It is to be understood that the concept of Friday is not a new thing for the Ummah of Muhammad (PBUH); rather this day was declared special by Allah for the nations who existed before. Let's say it as a weekend, even if it's not the same as a modern world weekend. Nevertheless, Allah has designated this one day in a week (Friday) as a holy day (it seems to have derived from this ' holiday ') and Friday festival (i.e. the Salat of Friday) was made compulsory on the races that existed before Muhammad, PBUH. Following hadith explains this very clearly:

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say:

“We are the last but the foremost on the Day of Resurrection, though the former nations were given the Scripture before us. And this was their day (Friday), which was made compulsory for them to celebrate (i.e. Friday prayer, etc.), but they differed about it.

So, Allah has given us guidance for it (Friday) and all the other people are behind us in this regard: the Jews ' (holy day is) the next day (i.e. Saturday) and the Christians ' (is) the day after the next day (i.e. Sunday).”(Hadith No. 876, Book of Al-Juma’a, Sahih Bukhari, Vol.2).

how beneficial it is to read. While trying to know about virtues of Friday, we got lovely information about the concept of weekend too. So, another thing to learn here is that for a Muslim the concept of weekend on Saturdays and Sundays is wrong, Friday is actually the special day of the week that a Muslim should concentrate on.

Religious sermon (i.e. the Khutba)

An essential part of Friday prayers is the religious sermon (the Khutba) which is delivered by the Imamprior to start of two raka’at of Salat. In normal Zuhr prayers, we offer four raka’at, but in Friday prayers only two raka’at are offered. Scholars are of the view that Khutba compensates for the remaining two raka’at. That is the extent of importance of Khutba.

It is recommended to proceed early for Friday prayers, reach Masjid in time, take a place and listen quietly to the Khutba. It is disliked for a person to engage in any talk while Khutba is in progress. Even if someone tells other person to be quiet, it is considered as a breach. Refer to following hadith:

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said: “If you say ‘Be Quiet’ while Imam is delivering Khutba, you have committed Al-Laghw.”

(Hadith No. 1112, Book of Salat, Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol. 1).

The significance of Khutba and listening to it quietly is even more highlighted by the fact that it is not allowed to offer any prayer (people might pray any Nawafil or any missed prayer like that of Fajr etc.) while the Khutba is in progress. However, there is an exception to this. Refer to following hadith:

It was narrated that Jabir bin Abdallah (RA) said: Sulaik Al Ghatfani came on a Friday when Prophet (PBUH) was preaching (i.e delivering Khutba) and he sat down. He said to him, “O Sulaik, get up and pray 2 raka’at and make them brief.” Then he said, “If one of you comes on a Friday and theImam is preaching, let him pray 2 raka’at (Tahayyat-al-Masjid) and make them brief.”

(Hadith No. 2024 (875), Book of Friday Prayer, Sahih Muslim, Vol. 2).

FRAGRANCE- SUNNAH OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S.A.W)

Of course, the good smell is better than a bad smell. In fact, it traverses nature to the realm of spirit and fills it with strength and power.
The energy of good perfume transforms into the body’s internal organs and manifests itself in a healthy, joyful individual.
The human soul or spirit is its center of energy, and it is strengthened by pleasant smells. So, if you spray on a nice flavor or light up some incense or smell the flavor of a coffee or a well-cooked meal, you have a splash of Happiness creeps into your core and uplifts and re-energizes your spirit.

He loved aromatic stuff and fragrance and he used them and suggested their use for others. Allah's Messenger (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). On waking up he would relieve himself, perform Wudhu, and apply fragrance to his clothing. If the fragrance was presented to him, he would never refuse it. He also used fragrance at night, particularly for Jumu'ah prayers on Fridays.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)has emphasized his love of good perfume in hadiths.

"Allah is Pleasant, and enjoys pleasant stuff, clean, and enjoys cleanliness, generous, and kindness ...”

Syeduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) Wouldn't refuse fragrance.” [Bukhari and Tirmidhi]

Abu-Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the nabi of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Anyone offered rayhan (basil perfume) should not decline it. It is light in weight and fragrant in scent.” [Muslim].

Spend a third on 'Itr

Spend a third on 'Itr

' Umar (may Allah please him) like to say this,

'Those who spend a third of their riches on ' Itr ' are not extravagant.'

Do not refuse 'Itr

Thumaamah bin 'Abd-Allah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that,

' Anas bin Malik (may Allah please him) did not refuse perfume, saying that Allah's Messenger (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) never refused (the acceptance of) perfume.'

Fragrance form Paradise

Abu-Uthman states from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) that, 'Anyone offering Raihaan (name of a perfume) will not dismiss it as it comes from Jannah (paradise).'

Ibn ' Umar (may Allah please him) tells,

'The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, 'Three things should not be refused: a pillow, fragrance ('Itr-oil), or milk.''

Usually, these three products are inexpensive and simple to offer as a present. The scholars say that if someone gives you these three items then do not refuse them as it could break the heart of the person giving it. Allah's Messenger (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) did not like breaking the heart or emotions of anybody

Use 'Itr without Alcohol

We should also use 'Itr to follow the sweet Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Starting today, let's stop using other materials that can be very costly and contain alcohol. Make it a regular habit when you go to Jumu'ah prayer to rub scent on Fridays too.

Imam Shafi'i (may the mercy of Allah be upon him) says four things make the body powerful; eat meat, use scent, take a bath, and put on linen clothes.

Women & perfume

Abu Musa (may Allah please him) told Allah's Messenger (may Allah bless him and grant him peace),

'An eye that looks at an unknown man or woman (with bad intentions) commits adultery and a woman who perfumes and then goes through a meeting of males is no better than that'.

Allahu Akbar! If a female applies any fragrance and a guy can smell it, it will attract him to adultery, so it is unlawful for females to apply any kind of perfume. However, if you only apply in your home to please your spouse, that is encouraged.

Manners of 'Itr

1. To apply 'Itr on the hair and beard is Sunnah.
2. Applying ' Itr at night and before prayers for Jumu'ah is a Sunna.
3. One should not refuse 'Itr when offered.
4. To use 'Itr of Raihan and 'Ud is Sunnah.
5. Women should not use 'Itr or any perfumes but apply Henna.
6. A fragrance containing illegitimate ingredients or alcohol should not be used.
7. It is a Sunnah to burn ' Ud and Camphor.

Permissibility of Elections in Islam

THE VIEW OF THE `ULAMA (Muslim Scholars)

To the best of our knowledge, there is not a single reputed `alim who has declared that elections are un-Islamic. We would greatly appreciate if any of our readers can bring to our attention any such `alim (Muslim Scholar). Whether or not any of our readers can succeed in doing so, one thing is CERTAIN; those `ulama who seriously think that elections are un-Islamic provide only isolated examples, if at all. The predominant view among Islamic scholars is that Islam has not categorically prescribed any definite political system, but given only general principles of government and that a system based on elections is acceptable in Islam. For example, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal concludes that "the basic (political) principle established by the Holy Qur'an is that of elections." Many hold that a system based on elections is not only acceptable but preferable to the military dictatorships and kingships that exist in most of the Muslim countries.

MUSLIM PRACTICE

Islamic acceptability of elections is also supported by Muslim practice.

Pakistan: In April 1973 a new constitution came into force in Pakistan. This constitution was drafted and later approved by jami'at-e- 'ulama-e-Islam, Pakistan. This constitution includes among its objectives the establishment of a system,

"under which the state may exercise its authority and powers through the representatives elected by the people."

"under which the principles of democracy, freedom, equality, decency and social justice as prescribed by Islam may be fully put into practice." (Translated from Urdu)

Earlier, when Pakistan came into being the system of elections was adopted in accordance with the views of Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Muhammad Iqbal, the two leading figures in the Pakistan Movement. Prominent Islamic scholars never objected to the system. On the contrary, whenever Pakistan has been under military rule, many of them have demanded elections.

Iran: Under the pro-Western shah, Iran was of course a monarchy. But after the Islamic revolution in 1979, it became a republic whose constitution recognized the principle of elections in its Article 6 as follows:

"In the Islamic Republic of Iran, the state affairs shall be administered, as voted by the people, i.e. through elections: election of president, representatives of the Majlis (National Consultative Assembly), members of the councils and the like, or through a referendum as stipulated under other articles of this law."

The 1979 constitution was drafted by a council which included `ulama such as 'ayat Allah' Jannati. It was approved by other `ulama and is still in force.

Egypt: Elections are also held in Egypt although they are held in such a way that the ruling party or president usually wins 99% of the votes. Egyptian `ulama never raised their voices saying that elections are un-Islamic and such orthodox Islamic groups as ikhwan al-muslimin have participated in elections.

North America: Many Muslim organizations of different persuasions in North America hold elections. Pro-Saudi ISNA, and ICNA are run by a system of regular and general elections. Many Mosques and Islamic groups choose its directors by regular elections.

IN THE LIGHT OF THE QUR'AN AND HADITH

Some Muslims, blinded by self interests or ignorance, seem to suggest that anything that did not exist in the early days of Islam is un-Islamic. If this were so, then most of the things we do every day would be un-Islamic. Each time we phone someone, each time we sit in a car, train, bus or plane, each time we give adhan (Calling of prayer) or khutbah (speech to the worshippers) in a loudspeaker, each time we go, or send our children to, a madrasah, school, college or university, each time we use a compass to find the direction of the qiblah (Ka'ba), each time we print Qur'an on a printing press we would be doing something haraam (unlawful), if we accept the principle that anything that did not exist in the early days of Islam is un-Islamic.

The truth is that such a principle is nowhere taught in Islam. It is something that our forefathers invented from their own minds without any basis in reason or revelation.

How then do we decide whether a practice that did not exist in the days of early Islam and is therefore not explicitly mentioned in the Qur'an and Hadith is Islamic or un-Islamic? The obvious answer to this question is that we should carefully examine the practice in the light of the Qur'an and Hadith and then reach a conclusion as follows:

1) If the practice violates some laws or principles taught in the Qur'an and Hadith, we reject it as un-Islamic. A particularly clear example would be the use of drugs like LSD, crack, etc. that are not explicitly mentioned in the sources of Islam. These drugs do more harm than good (if they do any good at all) and the Holy Qur'an prohibits alcohol on the same grounds.

2) If the practice does not violate anything taught in basic Islamic texts but is in fact positively helpful in fulfilling the aims and objectives of Islamic teachings, then we consider it not only permissible but also desirable. A particularly clear example would be the use of schools, examinations, awarding of degrees, certificates, etc. for religious and other education, for, although schools, examinations, etc. did not exist in the days of the Prophet, they are helpful in impairing knowledge, acquisition of which is a duty of every Muslim man and woman.

3) If the practice is neither in conflict with Islamic teachings nor is helpful to fulfill their objective, then we simply tolerate it as permissible, neither condemning it nor commending it. For example, playing a sport like baseball as a form of recreation and physical exercise.

If we now apply the above procedure to the system of regular elections, we see that this system does not in itself violate any laws and principles of the Qur'an and Hadith. Rather it is helpful in the fulfillment of many of those laws and principles. For example:

*** The Holy Qur'an says that the believers affairs "are run by shura (consultation) among them." Elections provide a way of conducting shurain the important matter of choosing ul al-amr and then determining whether they have continued support of the people.

*** The Holy Qur'an disapproves of monopolistic control of wealth. In 59:7 it states how to use the wealth that God bestows on the Prophet and then says:

"This is in order that (the wealth) may not become something that goes round and round among the rich in your midst."

Other principles of Islam, such as the principle that land belongs to the tiller and the prohibition against hoarding, usury, etc. also show that Islam does not want wealth to be concentrated in a section of the society. Now elections provide a way of avoiding monopolistic control of political power and since political power and economic wealth tend to go hand in hand in a country, therefore elections tend to help in the wider distribution of wealth which, as we just said, is an objective of many laws and principles of Islam.

*** Humility is one of the most desirable virtues in Islam. Generally leaders chosen according to a system of regular elections tend to be more humble and accessible to the people than kings and dictators who often behave and are treated as Gods. In ancient times kings actually used to present themselves as gods, before whom people had to bow down.

*** Equality of men is another well known and important principle taught in the Qur'an and Hadith. The system of elective government tends to create equality in a society, since every individual's vote counts. In contrast, in societies run by kings and dictators people are treated much less equally. Those able and willing to bribe officials or exert some other influence get away with what does not rightfully belong to them while others cannot receive even their most basic rights.

*** Unity and peace is something that is enjoined in the Qur'an and Hadith again and again. The system of elective government is helpful in this regard too. For, if any section of the society is dissatisfied with the existing government, it can hope to peacefully change things in the next elections. In contrast, in societies run by kings and dictators the dissatisfaction can often be expressed only by violent confrontation with the government, resulting in instability and a split in the society, sometimes even in civil wars and dismemberment of the country.
