Personal data it's ours! is the challenging statement that will be discussed during the 3 days of the next MISC conference. We will explore how digitised personal data records now play a central role in our life, from the record of a birth at a hospital (and the photos of the new born!) to the delivery of a death certificate at the registrar? How the increasing number of digital data, by and about ourselves, leads to the emergence of what is now referred to as 'digital identity', i.e. all the attributes and digital production by and about a person —school records, health records, employment records, business records, credit records, surveillance records etc. ? How and why se should provide greater personal control on personal data and one's digital identity? Along with researchers and practitioners working in a variety of fields (education, employment, healthcare, policy, technologies etc.) we will explore how the current changes in technologies and practices towards individualisation and socialisation can provide solutions to personal data control to the benefits of individuals and businesses alike.

Learning records, ePortfolios, personal learning environments: the objective of this track is to explore how individual learners are empowered as the authors and the architects of their own personal and community learning environments to manage their digital identity?

Work & employability
Employment records, competency records, personal knowledge management systems: the objective of this track is to explore the link between individual systems used to manage one's employability (e.g. through continuing professional development, recognition of prior learning) and organisational learning systems designed for competency and knowledge management.

Healthcare & wellness
Personal health records (PHR) medical records, personal health management systems: the objective of this track is to explore the link between individual systems of healthcare systems and professional practice.

Business & trade
Business records, credit records, transaction records, vendor relationship management systems: the objective of this track is to explore the benefits for individuals and businesses of a better control of personal data by clients and prospects of business services.

Policies & Citizenship
Digital identities governance: The objective of this track is to explore how personal data and digital identities contribute to the construction of individual and collective identities.

Technologies & Infrastructures
The Internet of Subjects: the objective of this track is to explore how to make the Internet a more person-centric environment ―the interaction between the growing individualisation of technologies with the development of social computing and social networks

Scotland’s Supplier Gathering

In today’s business environment knowledge and its effective use can be a critical factor to achieving business success, which is why the Intellectual Assets Centre has developed a major one-day conference to help Scotland’s business professionals identify, capture and exploit this all-important know-how.

It is a challenge for our library community in Sweden and Scandinavia, not only to welcome you to the 2010 World Library and Information Congress, but also to surprise you and overwhelm you and make your journey worthwhile, especially for those of you from the southern part of the world coming up north, and from the east going west.
