OVERVIEW: A well-developed knowledge translation/transfer (KT) plan is emerging as a requirement for health research globally, and there is greater attention to research utilization and research impact in many aspects of health practice and research. The SKTT� training course was developed on the premise that scientists, clinicians, and KT professionals are agents of change in creating research impact, promoting research utilization, and ensuring research findings reach the appropriate audiences for optimal impact. There is a skill set surrounding KT practice, and it is these competencies that the course was designed to impart.

AUDIENCE: The Scientist Knowledge Translation Training (SKTT) course is intended for health science researchers across all four scientific pillars (basic, clinical, health services, population health), who have an interest in sharing research knowledge with (multiple) audiences beyond the traditional academic community, as appropriate, and in increasing the impact potential of their research. The course is equally suited to KT professionals, researchers in disciplines other than health, practitioners, educators, and decision makers in community based organizations and government. The material is universally applicable across sectors, job roles, and geographic location.

CONTENT: This is a very practice-oriented course that covers:
1. Utility of KT, for researchers, educators, clinician-scientists
2. KT strategies and their evidence base
3. Developing a KT plan (practical, hands-on approach with tools)
4. Plain language communication
5. Communicating with media
6. Communicating with policy makers

Working with our client on a consultancy basis you will be responsible for ensuring the successful identification, categorisation and development of Online Communities in support of the delivery of a wider Information Management Strategy with a public sector end client.

The role will involve auditing current networks, identifying which groups, forums and boards already exist and further developing these across the organisation. You will be fully utilising technology to promote online collaboration, knowledge sharing, policy development and interaction as well as producing guidelines and training and promotion of an Online Community.

It is expected that suitable candidates will have previous demonstrable experience of developing, and successfully delivering Online Communities across complex government organisations, as well as developing business processes and training for Online Communities.

Candidates must have excellent project management skills and be accustomed to working in an environment of change. It is essential to have excellent communication skills as well as facilitation and presentation skills, as the role will be working with key stakeholders across the organisation.

Familiarity with knowledge management principles and experience of PRINCE2 would be advantageous.

To commence as quickly as possible, this role is offered on a freelance consultancy basis for an initial period of 3 months with a possible extension to 6 months.
