REPLAY MEETS GIACINTO MOZZETTA PHOTOGRAPHER

Replay è probabilmente uno dei più longevi brand italiani. Fondato nel 1978, l’origine del nome è strettamente legata alla sua mission. Come infatti il replay permette di rivedere un'immagine accaduta, il brand si propone di attingere dall’universo del vintage reinterpretando in chiave moderna capi del passato. Partendo dal denim e dallo smart casual, oggi Replay propone total look per un consumatore che ricerca la qualità nel prodotto e sa riconoscere l’autenticità di capi che sono frutto di una ricerca accurata sui materiali, sulla lavorazione dei tessuti e sui lavaggi.

Punto di forza di Replay sono anche i suoi store, luoghi emozionanti dove anche gli interni mescolano antico e presente, spazi dell’archeologia industriale che si uniscono a materiali naturali. E uno degli store che più incarna questo concetto è quello in Via Della Rotonda poichè situato di fronte al magnifico Pantheon, una delle più maestose opere volute dall'imperatore Adriano.

As the replay allows to review an image that happened, the brand aims to tap into the universe of vintage by reinterpreting in a modern key clothes of the past. Starting from the smart denim and casual, today Replay offers a total look for a consumer seeking quality in the product and able to recognize the authenticity of clothes that are the result of careful research on materials, processing of fabrics and washes.

The strength of Replay are also its stores, exciting places where the interiors blend ancient and present, industrial spaces combined with natural materials. And one of the store that best embodies this concept is the one in Via Della Rotonda as situated opposite the magnificent Pantheon, one of the most majestic works by Emperor Hadrian.

Ed è proprio all'interno di questo store che domenica 19 maggio si svolgerà un evento a cui tengo molto: una mostra dei lavori del fashion photographer Giacinto Mozzetta. Giacinto lo conosco personalmente: come graphic designer ho collaborato spesso con lui, e talvolta ha anche concesso la sua pazienza per degli scatti sul mio blog. Niente di trascendentale in confronto alla sua sensibilità nel sapere catturare attimi di vibrante emozione. La mostra esposta all'interno del Replay Store vi permetterà di percorrere un viaggio attraverso vari temi e stili, che conosco (la parte grafica della mostra è stata curata da me) ma di cui non vi svelo niente perchè ... dovete venire!

Quindi vi aspetto tutti domenica 19 maggio presso il Replay Store Pantheon a Via Della Rotonda dalle 19:30, dove sarà possibile incontrare l'artista, vedere la mostra e partecipare al cocktail party. Poi se vi fa piacere, ci sarò anche io e sarà una buona scusa per incontrarsi! Per chi non potesse vi consiglio comunque di visitare il suo sito e la sua pagina Facebook.

And it's in this store that will take place Sunday, May 19 an event very dear to me: an exhibition of the works by the fashion photographer Giacinto Mozzetta. I know Giacinto personally: as a graphic designer I worked with him often, and sometimes even gave his patience for the shots on this blog. Nothing earth-shattering in comparison to its sensitivity to capture moments of vibrant emotion. The exhibition displayed inside the Replay Store will allow you to take a trip through various themes and styles, that I know (the graphical part of the exhibition was curated by me) but I don't let you anything because ... you have to come!

So I expect you Sunday, May 19 at the Replay Store Pantheon in Via Della Rotonda from 19:30, where you can meet the artist, see the exhibition and attend the cocktail party. Then if you like, I'll be there so will be a good excuse to meet up! For those who could not come, however, I recommend to visit his website and his Facebook page.

HAPPY BDAY GUY OVERBOARD!

Oggi è ufficialmente passato un anno da quando ho aperto Guy Overboard. Tanti auguri! Ringrazio tutti quelli che leggono o commentano i miei post: solo in questo modo ho la possibilità di confrontarmi, dire la mia ed ascoltare ragazzi e ragazze che sono attratti da questo mondo così affascinante. Il mio legame con la moda era vivo già quando abitavo a Napoli, ma non mi ero mai accorto della sua "forza" fino a quando non mi sono trasferito a Roma. Qui non riuscivo a trovare delle persone con cui condividere questa passione: Guy Overboard è nato da questa necessità. Ovviamente, il potenziale di Internet è enorme e dalla volontà di trovare dei "fashionisti" a Roma alla fine mi sono ritrovato a parlare con persone da tutta Italia e da tante parti del mondo. Ho avuto la possibilità di partecipare ad eventi, collaborare con dei brand. Insomma, ho capito io in prima persona, da professionista della comunicazione, quale potente mezzo potesse essere la comunicazione via blog.

Ancora tutt'oggi però non saprei dire cos'è un fashion blogger. Credo che si confonda spesso il fashion blogger con il giornalista di moda o lo stylist (o anche lo stilista). Queste sono figure professionali che creano moda (sotto forma di argomenti, abbinamenti o oggetti). Il fashion blogger dovrebbe? Non saprei. Credo, comunque, che il potenziale del fashion blogger sia quella della condivisione e del commento (inteso anche come "post di commento"). Il fashion blogging infatti è nato CON Internet ed Internet ha il potenziale della multimedialità (cosa che non ha la carta stampata). Ed è su questo che bisognerebbe puntare. Credo che sia più corretto che chi voglia scrivere di moda faccia il giornalista e cerchi di studiare e fare gavetta per fare il giornalista, non il fashion blogger. Che chi voglia occuparsi di styling faccia una scuola, un'università e la gavetta per diventarlo. Se si decide di svolgere invece una di queste professioni passando per il fashion blogging si sta sbagliando tutto. In primis perchè non si riconosce al fashion blogger un ruolo autonomo (ma solo un ruolo di passaggio) e quindi in quanto tale il fashion blogger verrà sempre visto come qualcosa di superfluo e inutile. E in secondo luogo perchè si sta cercando una scorciatoia invece di affrontare il mondo del professionismo, fatto di gavetta, di tanti no, di tanti "questo non va bene". Insomma, il mondo reale. Sicuramente ognuno definisce il proprio valore aggiunto nel fashion blogging, però a mio parere "sconfinando" in qualcosa che appartiene già ad altre realtà professionali non si fa altro che sconvolgere la figura, creando una confusione che non giova di certo al fashion blogging.

Io sto ancora cercando di capire perchè Guy Overboard dovrebbe esistere, a cosa potrebbe mai servire. Per cui questo compleanno lo dedico a questo: ai progetti di cui non si conosce bene il fine, ma che si portano avanti con lo stesso rispetto di chi sa già qual è la meta.

Today has officially been a year since I opened Guy Overboard. Happy Birthday! I thank all those who read or comment on my posts: only in this way I have the opportunity to confront, speak my mind and listen to boys and girls who are attracted to this world so fascinating. My relationship with the fashion was already alive when I lived in Naples, but I never noticed his "strength" until I moved to Rome. Here I could not find people to share this passion: Guy Overboard was born from this need. Obviously, the potential of Internet is huge and from looking for "fashionistas" in Rome at the end I found people from all over Italy and many parts of the world. I had the opportunity to attend events, work with the brand. I understand in first person, as a professional communication, how could be powerful the blogging communication.

Even today, however, I don't know what a fashion blogger is. I think we often confuse the fashion blogger with the fashion journalist or stylist (or the designer). These are professionals who create fashion (in the form of topics, combinations or objects). The fashion blogger should? I don't know. I believe, however, that the potential of fashion bloggers is sharing and commenting (understood as "post"). The fashion blogging is born with the Internet and the Internet has the potential of multimedia (which does not have the print media). And that is what we should aim for. I think it is more correct than those who want to write about fashion have to study and make mess to be a journalist, not a fashion blogger. Who wants to deal with styling have to make a school, an university, and ranks to become one. If you decide instead to play one of these professions through the fashion blogging is all wrong. Primarily because you don't recognize the fashion blogger an independent role (but only a part of way) and then the fashion bloggers will always be seen as something superfluous and unnecessary. And secondly because you're looking for a shortcut instead of facing the world of professional, made in the ranks, many not, many "this is not good." In short, the real world. Surely everyone defines their added value in fashion blogging, but in my opinion "trespassing" into something that already belongs to other workplaces upset the figure, creating a confusion that certainly does not help to fashion blogging.

I'm still trying to understand why Guy Overboard should exist, what could ever serve. So I dedicate this birthday to this: to the projects you don't know the purpose, but you carry on with the same respect as those who you know the goal.

TIMBERLAND EARTHKEEPERS COLLECTION

Timberland è da sempre molto attenta alla natura e continua la sua tradizionale campagna dedicata agli Earthkeepers, ossia a tutte quelle persone (nel nostro caso italiani) a basso impatto ambientale e ad alto tasso di energia. Quest'anno la campagna è Earthkeepers On The Water, ossia i 16 protagonisti sono tutti uniti da un amore profondo per l'acqua, che li porta a fare cose un po' fuori. C'è il surfista urbano, l'amica delle tartarughe, la sportiva avventuriera, i costruttori di barche, ecc.

Timberland has always been very careful to nature and continues its traditional campaign dedicated to the Earthkeepers, all those people (Italian) with low environmental impact and high energy rate. This year the campaign is Earthkeepers On The Water, 16 protagonists all united by a deep love for the water, which leads them to do things a little bit crazy. There is the urban surfer, the friend of the turtles, the sporty adventurer, boat builders, etc..

Insieme alla campagna, Timberland ha sviluppato una collezione Earthkeppers, che mantiene i valori del basso impatto ambientale nell'utilizzo dei materiali, oltre che nelle fonti di energia con cui sono stati realizzati. Troviamo una jacket ricavata dalle reti da pesca disperse; felpe con cappuccio e polo realizzate in cotone organico o scarpe da barca con suola in gomma riciclata.

Along with the campaign, Timberland has developed a Earthkeppers collection, which maintains the values of the low environmental impact in the use of materials, as well as in the sources of energy with which they were made. So in this collection we can find a jacket made from fishing nets scattered, hoodies and polo shirts made from organic cotton or boat shoes with rubber sole recycled.

Prendere ispirazione da altre culture è una cosa che accade spesso nella moda. E' facile vedere come la stimolazione creativa possa essere tratta dalle diverse etnie che ci circondano, e sembra che tale influenza sia destinata a crescere sempre di più. Quest'estate la tendenza etnica non si concentra però su un solo popolo o parte del mondo (in passato ricordate solo i motivi aztechi o l'estremo Oriente o l'India?), ma spazia tra culture diverse tra loro, portando ad una vasta gamma di modelli esotici e di idee applicate a capi tradizionalmente "occidentali". Tale tendenza ben si adatta ad un guardaroba attuale, soprattutto dopo la grande attenzione che la moda ha già avuto nei confronti delle stampe.

Take inspiration from other cultures is something that often happens in fashion. It's easy to see how creative stimulation can be drawn from the various ethnic groups that surround us, and it seems that this influence is likely to grow more and more. This summer the ethnic trend, however, does not focus on just one part of the world or people (in the past just remember the Aztec or the Far-East or Indian patterns?), but ranges from different cultures, leading to a wide range of exotic patterns and ideas applied to garments traditionally "Western". This trend is well suited to a current wardrobe, especially after the great attention that fashion has already had for the prints.

La semplicità di Bottega Veneta si è trasformata in una varietà di capi ispirati alle tuniche dell'Inghilterra medioevale (in stile Robin Hood). La collezione ha fatto uso di tonalità calde, tessuti con texture come il velluto o la pelle scamosciata, e l'allacciatura a croce in sostituzione dei bottoni, rafforzando la sensazione etnica della collezione. Scollo a V, capi oversized, pantaloni a metà coscia.

The simplicity of Bottega Veneta has turned into a variety of garments inspired by medieval tunics of England (Robin Hood style). The collection has made use of warm colors, textured fabrics such as velvet or suede, and the lacing cross in place of buttons, reinforcing the feeling of ethnic collection. V-neck, oversized garments, pants mid-thigh.

Altri designer sono stati leggermente più contenuti con le influenze etniche. E. Tautz ha preso in prestito riferimenti dall'abbigliamento marocchino, abissino e sudanese, applicandoli però in modo più sobrio. Attenuando l'etnia, il brand ha giocato soprattutto sui colori molto forti.

Other designers were slightly lower with ethnic influences. E. Tautz has borrowed references from cMoroccan, Sudanese and Abyssinian clothing, but applying them in a more sober. Alleviating the ethnicity, the brand has played primarily on very strong colors.

Missoni, la cui ispirazione è arrivata dal Sud-Est asiatico, ha puntato invece su diverse varianti di tonalità terracotta e terra. La collezione comprende anche modelli etnici applicati a jumpers a maniche corte e maglieria con scollo a V.

Missoni, whose inspiration came from South-East Asia, has focused instead on different variations of terracotta and earth tones. The collection also includes ethnic patterns applied to jumpers and knitted short-sleeved V-neck.

Altri designer hanno scelto di mostrare le influenze etniche all'interno delle loro collezioni attraverso la scelta dei modelli. Jean Paul Gautier ad esempio ha caratterizzato la sua collezioni con turbanti di seta che hanno aggiunto un tocco molto regale agli abiti. I tessuti lussuosi e colori morbidi utilizzati infatti ricordavano la famiglia reale indiana. Etro invece ha continuato a mostrare giacche in stile orientale integrando la loro stampa paisley, che è stata applicata a tutto.

Other designers have chosen to show the ethnic influences in their collections through the choice of models. Jean Paul Gautier for example, has characterized his collections with silk turbans that they have added a very regal touch to clothing. Rich fabrics and soft colors used reminiscent of the Indian royalty. Etro instead continued to show jackets in oriental style supplementing their paisley print, which has been applied to everything.

Infine, la collezione ambiziosa di Yohji Yamamoto ha mostrato pantaloni fantasticamente colorati con risme di tessuto e caviglie elasticizzate, dando una sensazione quasi alla "Aladin". Probabilmente non sono pantaloni indossabili tutti i giorni, ma la silhouette creata e l'uso audace del colore - da arancione a blu acqua, così come nero - la rendono una collezione indimenticabile.

Finally, the ambitious collection by Yohji Yamamoto showed fantastically colored pants with reams of fabric and elasticated ankles, giving a feeling almost "Aladin". Probably they aren't pants worn every day, but the silhouette created and the bold use of color - from orange to blue water, as well as black - make it an unforgettable collection.

Gli stilisti di alta moda non sono gli unici ad abbracciare altre culture e utilizzare l'etnia come fonte di ispirazione. Il lookbook di molti brand come H&M, Topman, Asos mettono in mostra una serie di importanti pezzi etnici e stampe molto eleganti e contemporanei.

The high fashion designers are not the only ones to embrace other cultures and use ethnicity as a source of inspiration. The lookbook for many brands such as H&M, Topman, Asos showcase a number of important ethnic pieces and prints very stylish and contemporary.

E' innegabile quindi che le etnie abbiano un enorme impatto sulla moda in tutto il mondo, con delle influenze che aggiungono varietà alla gamma di capi disponibili per l'uomo moderno. E a voi, piace questa tendenza?

It is undeniable that the ethnic groups have a huge impact on fashion around the world, with influences that add variety to the range of items available for the modern man. Do you like this trend?

ASOS SUMMER WISHLIST

A Roma sembra che il tempo ci stia permettendo di fantasticare sull'estate. E per prepararsi al meglio ho pensato di raccogliere alcuni dei prodotti, trovati sul famosissimo e-shop ASOS, che mi hanno particolarmente colpito. L'occasione è ancora più ghiotta dopo aver scoperto che su CupoNation, il portale di codici sconto più grande d'Italia, è possibile approfittare del 30% di sconto per la moda uomo (ma anche per la moda donna, e per tante altre marche ... fatevi un giro e ve ne renderete conto).

In Rome, it seems that time is enabling us to fantasize about summer. And to get ready better, I thought to pick up some of the products, found on the famous e-shop ASOS, that particularly impressed me. The occasion is even more greedy after discovering that on CupoNation, the portal of Italy's largest discount codes, you can take advantage of 30% discount for men's fashion (but also for women's fashion, and many other brands... take a trip and you will realize it).

#1. CAMICIA A QUADRI

Anche se il trend si sta spostando verso le famose righe black & white, trovo che il quadrettato sia davvero intramontabile. In questa camicia poi mi ha colpito il contrasto tra le due trame dei quadri, una più ampia e una più stretta, disposta (ovviamente) in un'alternanza di righe.

#1. PLAID SHIRT

Although the trend is moving towards the famous striped black & white, for me the plais is really timeless. In this shirt hit me the contrast between the two plots of the pictures, a wider and closer, arranged (of course) in alernating rows.

#2. TSHIRT CON TASCHINO FLUO

L'estate è la stagione migliore per mostrare le tshirt senza l'ingombro dei soprabiti. La mia passione per l'arte mi ha subito fatto pensare a questa tshirt come ad un quadro di Pollock (l'artista statunitense che faceva colare il colore direttamente sulla tela). Anche se monocromatica, il dettaglio del taschino giallo fluo la rende di forte impatto.

#2. TSHIRT WITH FLUO POCKET

Summer is the best season to show tshirt without the hassle of coats. My passion for art immediately makes me think about this t-shirt as a Pollock's paiting (the American artist who was pouring the paint directly on the canvas). Although monochrome, the detail of the fluo yellow pocket makes a strong impact.

#3. POLO A RIGHE CON BAMBOO

Per quegli eventi estivi a metà tra il casual e il formale, la polo è la migliore alternativa alla camicia. In questo caso, riprendendo sempre il trend del black & white, ho preferito una polo che giocasse sui motivi, a metà tra il floreale e il geometrico. Che contrastano con la tinta unita del colletto e la rifinitura delle maniche.

#3. STRIPED POLO BAMBOO

For summer events between casual and formal, the pole is the best alternative to the shirt. In this case, always taking the trend of black & white, I preferred a pole that was playing on the patterns, halfway between floreal and geometric. That contrast with the solid color of collar and finishing of the sleeves.

#4. PANTALONCINI CON STAMPA

Nonostante il taglio sopra il ginocchio possa farli sembrari troppo casual, i pantaloncini ha anche una sua dignità formale, soprattutto (come in questo caso) quando le tasche sono sulle cuciture laterali e sul retro sono a filetto. Anche in questo caso ho interpretato il black & white attraverso l'uso di una stampa (stavolta però meno invasiva) di foglie.

#4. SHORTS WITH PRINT

Despite the cut above the knee can make them look too casual, the shorts also have a formal dignity, especially (as in this case) when the pockets are on the side seams and in the back are thread. Again I played with the black & white through the use of a leaves' print (this time, however, less invasive).

#5. SCARPE DA GINNASTICA IN TELA

Sdrammatizzo tutto questo black & white con le scarpe (è una cosa che personalmente faccio spesso!). Ho scelto infatti delle scarpe da ginnastica da tela (che ci impediscono l'uso perenne di infradito o sandali!) modello stringato, con la suola vulcanizzata in contrasto. Pezzo forte è il motivo a pois nero/blu con una stampa "bananosa" a metà tra il cartoon e Andy Warhol.

#5. TRAINER IN CANVAS

I play down all this black & white with shoes (it's a thing that personally I often do!). I chose canvas sneakers (that prevent the abuse of flip flops or sandals!), laced up, with the vulcanized sole in contrast. Highlight is the polka dot pattern black&blue with a "banana" print between cartoons and Andy Warhol.

#6. CAPPELLINO SNAPBACK

Non poteva mancare per le giornate super soleggiate (in fondo a questo serve!) un cappellino con falda snapback della River Island. Mi ha subito colpito il motivo maculato, anche questo molto simile a colate di pittura, con il contrasto forte tra il rosso e il nero dello sfondo.

#6. CAP SNAPBACK

We could not miss for super sunny days (in the end this is its task!) a cat with brim snapback by River Island. I was immediately struck with the spotted pattern, very similar to flows of painting, with the strong contrast between the red and the black of the background.

#7. OCCHIALI DA SOLE WAYFARER

Estate = sole = occhiali da sole. Nel caso in cui non ve ne siate accorti, il trend di quest'estate è sicuramente l'utilizzo delle lenti a specchio. Lo so, sembra che siano tutti in procinto di andare sulla neve piuttosto che al mare, ma proprio per evitare il modello tipico da sciata, ho scelto la montatura di Cheap Monday. Mi sembra quasi futuristica visto quando è piatta (sembra quasi un foglio), con le stanghette larghe e le viti in vista ad unire le parti.

#7. SUNGLASSES WAYFARER

Summer = sun = sunglasses. In the event that you will not be noticed, the trend of this summer is definitely the use of mirrored lenses. I know, it seems that they are all about to go on the snow rather than the sea, but just to avoid the typical model for skiing, I chose the frame by Cheap Monday. It seems almost futuristic for the flatness (almost looks like a sheet), with arms wide and visible screws that join the parts.

#8. ZAINO CON STAMPA DI ROSE

Infine, non so voi, ma io d'estate ho sempre mille cose da portarmi indietro. Peggio dell'inverno. O forse è semplicemente che d'estate avere delle cose in tasca mi pesa ancora di più che in inverno. Fatto sta che lo zaino è l'accessorio migliore per dare un tocco glam ad una necessità. Ovviamente il modello alla Eastpak è il migliore per comodità e capienza. Soprattutto la tasca a marsupio davanti per mettere tutte le cose di "prima necessità" è d'obbligo per evitare di stare 3/4 d'ora a cercare qualcosa che non uscirà mai nella sacca. La stampa di rose, che sembra praticamente uscito da un giornale di tanti anni fa, la trovo davvero particolare.

#8. BACKPACK WITH ROSES PRINT

In the summer I always have a thousand things to bring me back. Worse winter. Or maybe it's just that in summer having things in my pocket is more tiring than in winter. So the backpack is the best accessory to give a touch of glamour to a necessity. Obviously, the Eastpak model is the best for comfort and capacity. Especially the front pouch pocket to put all the things of "necessities" is necessary to avoid standing three quarters of an hour looking for something that will never go out in the bag. The printing of roses, which looks made out from an old magazine, is very special.

Nel suo saggio "Echi dell'età del Jazz", F. Scott Fitzgerald scrisse, nel 1926, che la società "era divisa in due principali flussi: uno che fluiva verso Palm Beach e Deauville, e l'altra (molto più piccola) verso la riviera estiva". Cinquant'anni più tardi, durante la prima settimana di settembre 1981, il fotografo britannico Steve Wood si presentò sulla costa della Normandia per fotografare (per il Daily Express di Londra) le celebrità che frequentavano il Festival del Cinema Americano di Deauville. Ritrovando quello stesso flusso ancora lì. Tra gli scintillanti arrivi sul tappeto rosso di Rock Hudson e Clint Eastwood, l'allora 35enme Wood conobbe Elaine Kaufman, titolare del famoso ristorante di New York Elaine, presso il suo albergo. Kaufman, che era a Deauville in viaggio di nozze, presentò Wood al suo amico Andy Warhol e lo incoraggiò a scattare alcuni ritratti dell'artista.

In his essay "Echoes of the Jazz Age," F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote that, by 1926, society "had divided into two main streams, one flowing toward Palm Beach and Deauville and the other, much smaller, toward the summer Riviera." Fifty years later, during the first week of September in 1981, British photographer Steve Wood showed up on the coast of Normandy to snap the celebrities who were attending the Deauville American Film Festival for the Daily Express of London, and found that same festive element still streaming in. Amid the glittering red-carpet arrivals of Rock Hudson and Clint Eastwood, the then-35-year-old Wood happened upon his friend Elaine Kaufman, famed proprietor of the New York City restaurant Elaine's, staying at his hotel. Kaufman, who was in Deauville on her honeymoon, introduced Wood to her friend Andy Warhol and encouraged him to shoot some portraits of the artist.

Wood, un fotografo di seconda generazione che aveva venduto la sua prima foto per un giornale a 11 anni e che aveva già scattato un ritratto iconico della principessa Diana prima del suo matrimonio con il principe Carlo, non era molto abbagliato dalla prospettiva di ritrattare il Pop fatto persona. Wood, a second-generation photographer who had sold his first picture to a newspaper at age 11 and who had already snapped an iconic portrait of Princess Diana before her marriage to Prince Charles, was admittedly less than starstruck at the prospect of shooting the pop personality. Wood spent a free afternoon photographing the then-53-year-old Warhol, capturing an openness and vulnerability the artist rarely exhibited.

Un giornalista che accompagnava Wood non vedeva ragione per intervistare Warhol per il Festival per cui non ci fu mai motivo di pubblicare le immagini. From a file marked "W" emerged the incredible, never-before-seen pictures that make up the show "Lost Then Found".

Non capita tutti i giorni di riuscire a fare ciò che si ama per vivere e dare una luce di speranza a chi ne ha bisogno. Per molti, realizzare anche una sola di queste cose andrebbe bene. But not for Marc Battipaglia and Andres S Beker who created philanthropic fashion label Wild Soul Sunglasses in November 2012.

"Abbiamo deciso che il migliore modo affinchè ciò accadesse fosse che il consumatore dovesse scegliere a chi destinare il denaro"

Wild Soul's range of sunglasses which are all named after untamed animals (the Lion, the Owl, the Elephant, and the Rhino) help customers "be wild" while helping them "fulfil their soul", giving a portion of each sale to a charity of the customer's choice. "We decided the best way to succeed was to allow the customer to choose where their money will go."

Ogni paio di occhiali è meticolosamente fabbricato sulla base delle funzioni dell'animale corrispondente e sono disponibili in diversi colori usando materiale di qualità. Ma non è stato facile per Marc e Andres imporre la loro visione. Each pair of sunglasses are meticulously crafted after the intricate features of the animal whose name they carry and are available in several rich and earthy colors using quality materials. But it wasn't always an easy road for Marc and Andres to get their vision off the ground. After meeting in college, the pair became instant friends and knew they both shared a passion for design while incorporating charity and giving back into everything they build.

Il rifiuto dei produttori, i web designer che non potevano accuratamente ritrarre la loro visione, i ritardi e le perdite delle spedizioni sono stati solo alcuni degli ostacoli che stavano cercando di farli andare fuori pista nel loro tentativo di mescolare moda e filantropia. In ogni caso questi ostacoli non li hanno fermati.

Manufacturers backing out, website designers who could not accurately portray their vision, delayed and lost shipments, all the while balancing work and law school, were just some of the obstacles that were trying to throw them off track in their quest to fuse fashion & philanthropy. However these hurdles couldn't stop the duo.

L'ostinata persistenza di Marc e Andres ha dimostrato che la passione per una causa può superare il più grande degli ostacoli. Today, their mornings begin with emails being sent from Argentina, updated tasks lists in New York City, and their days coming to a close with orders from the other side of the world. Marc and Andres' wilful persistence has shown that passion for a cause can overcome the biggest of hurdles. They have successfully bridged the gap between fashionistas and philanthropists worldwide, affirming that there is a little Wild to everyone's Soul.

Per chi come me ha passato la sua adolescenza nel pop che ha segnato la fine degli anni 90 e l'inizio del nuovo millennio, gli 'N Sync erano costantemente nella playlist da ascoltare. Il "bubblegum pop" era quello che serviva in un'età in cui l'importante è essere spensierati e non prendersi troppo sul serio. Lavarsi da dosso però l'etichettà di un prodotto nato a tavolino per vendere copie e fare soldoni è davvero difficile, ed è chiaro che da quella boyband l'unico ad esserci davvero riuscito è stato Justin Timberlake.

For someone like me who has spent his adolescence in the pop that marked the end of the 90s and the beginning of the new millennium, 'N Sync were constantly in the playlist to listen to. The "bubblegum pop" was needed at an age where it is important to be carefree and does not take itself too seriously. Wash it off the label of a product create to sell copies is really difficult, and from that boyband the only that really do this was Justin Timberlake.

Il Justin solista ha avuto la grande fortuna di incontrare il duo di produzione Neptunes e Timbaland, entrambi molto vicini ad un modo di fare musica più simile all'hip-hop che al pop più puro (campionamenti, tastiere e synth la fanno da padrone). Da quella esperienza nacquero i due bellissimi album Justified (che attualmente resta il mio preferito) e FutureSex / LoveSounds, che hanno praticamente consacrato Justin come ottimo manager di se stesso.

Justin had the great fortune to meet the production duo the Neptunes and Timbaland, both very close to a way of making music much similar to hip-hop then pop pure (samples, keyboards and synths were the masters). From that experience were born two beautiful album Justified (currently my favorite) and FutureSex / LoveSounds. Both have anointed Justin as an excellent manager of himself.

Dopo un'allarmante ritiro dalle scene per fare l'attore, Justin ha sbalordito tutti facendo uscire, con poco preavviso, il nuovo singolo della sua nuova éra, Suit & Tie. Sotto la sua produzione, è nato The 20/20 Experience. Un album che, sulla scia di un altro bravissimo artista forse un po' sottovalutato (Robin Thicke), cerca di riscoprire le radici soul e rhythm'n'blues più pure con un tocco di sguardo al futuro. A mio parere, quello che è uscito è un album però al di sotto delle aspettative. Tutto scorre molto lento, con intro e outro a volte davvero lunghi. Le tracce che secondo me si distinguono sono Tunnel Vision (più vicino al Timbaland del passato), Let The Groove In (con le bellissime percussioni di Terry Santiel), il bellissimo nuovo singolo Mirrors e la delicatezza di Blue Ocean Floor. Supercurato il booklet del disco, con un Timberlake in una serie di abiti di Tom Ford immortalati da Tom Munro.

After an alarming retreat from the scene to be an actor, Justin has stunned everyone releasing, at short notice, the new single of his new era, Suit & Tie. Under his production, was born The 20/20 Experience. An album that, in the wake of another talented artist a bit underestimated (Robin Thicke), tries to rediscover the pure roots of soul and rhythm'n'blues with a touch of the future. In my opinion what is came out is an album below expectations. Everything runs very slow, with intro and outro sometimes very long. The tracks that stand out to me are Tunnel Vision (closer to the past Timbaland) Let The Groove In (with the beautiful percussions by Terry Santiel), the beautiful new single Mirrors and delicacy of Blue Ocean Floor. Well cared the booklet of the disc, with Timberlake in a variety of outfits by Tom Ford immortalized by Tom Munro.

H&M, sempre più attenta alla sostenibilità nel campo della moda, sta portando avanti già da un po' di tempo il progetto H&M Conscious, con l'obiettivo di offrire moda più sostenibile. Di questo progetto fa già parte il famoso "garment collecting", uno scatolone in cui deporre i capi H&M usati e non più utilizzati, con la possibilità di avere un buono sconto.

Questa primavera, ispirandosi al glamour hollywoodiano, H&M ha deciso di realizzare una collezione ispirata al progetto, H&M Conscious Exclusive. Si tratta di una collezione con materiali più sostenibili, comprendente accessori e abbigliamento sia per uomo che per donna.

H&M, increasingly concerned about the sustainability in the fashion industry, is conducting the project H&M Conscious, with the goal of providing more sustainable fashion. Part of this project is the famous "garment collecting", a box to lay H&M used clothes, with the possibility of having a discount.

On this spring, inspired by the Hollywood glamour, H&M has decided to create a collection inspired by the project, H&M Conscious Exclusive. This is a collection with more sustainable materials, including clothing and accessories for both men and women.

Per l'uomo sono stati realizzati due completi: un abito scuro formato da blazer e panciotto in seta con fodera a motivi floreali e pantaloni con bretelle in misto seta; ed uno chiaro, sempre con blazer, panciotto e pantaloni con bretelle, ma in gros-grain. A corredo troviamo una camicia con stampa fantasia, leggermente lunga dietro, e una camicia classica con papillon. Per gli accessori, le scarpe sono realizzate in grois-grain con fodera a motivi floreali e il 3-pack di farfallini è in diversi colori. A mio parere però il vero pezzo forte della collezione è la giacca in grois-grain con bottoni nascosti e frange sulle maniche. Molto rockstar.

For the man were made two suits: a dark suit consists in blazer and waistcoat with silk lining and floral motifs, and silk-blend pants with suspenders; and a clear one, with blazer, waistcoat and trousers with braces, but in gros-grain. The collection includes also a shirt with fantasy print, slightly long behind, and a classic shirt with a bow tie. For accessories, the shoes are made of grois-grain lining with floral motifs and the 3-pack of bow ties is in different colors. In my opinion, however, the real highlight of the collection is the grois-grain jacket with hidden buttons and fringes on the sleeves. Very rockstar.

I negozi che vendono la collezione in Italia si trovano in solo 5 città: Bolzano, Firenze, Milano, Napoli e Roma. E (come al solito) purtroppo a Roma viene venduto nel negozio di Via Del Corso. Essendo questo negozio solo femminile, ciò vuol dire che a Roma la collezione maschile non arriverà mai.

The shops that sell the collection in Italy are only in 5 cities: Bolzano, Florence, Milan, Naples and Rome. And (as usual) unfortunately in Rome is sold at Via Del Corso. Since this shop only female, this means that in Rome the men's collection will never come.

*aggiornamento: secondo il sito di H&M, il negozio di Via Del Corso ha sia la collezione maschile che femminile (nonostante sia un negozio solo donna). Sono passato ma non ho visto niente. Mi pare di capire che le collezioni siano uscite ad inizio aprile.

Cosa c'è di più santo, nel giorno di Pasqua, se non parlare della band britannica che ha reso il "Gesù personale" una delle 500 canzoni più belle della storia della musica? Nonostante siano passati 30 anni dal loro debutto, i dischi dei Depeche Mode continuano a creare un grande fermento, nel loro mix perfetto di synth-pop, rock e new wave che ancora tutt'oggi nessuno riesce ad eguagliare.

What's more holy on Easter day to speak about the British band that made of "Personal Jesus" one of the 500 best songs of the music history? Despite the passage of 30 years since their debut, the discs of Depeche Mode continue to create a stir, in their perfect mix of synth-pop, rock and new wave that still no one can match today.

Il nuovo album uscito appena una settimana fa si intitola Delta Machine: le persone che fabbricano macchine utilizzano il termine delta per indicare cambiamento. Ma delta è anche un tipo di blues associato a uno stile vocale molto cupo e introspettivo. La solennità, la riflessione sono sicuramente i cardini del disco. Non c'è da aspettarsi insomma una nuova "People Are People" o " I Just Can't Get Enough", ma l'immediatezza melodica di brani come Angel rende il disco meno pesante di quello che ci si può immaginare. E' nella seconda metà che però Delta Machine consente alcune variazioni. Soothe My Soul ad esempio è un'audace shuffle adatto ai club, così come Alone si muove velocemente. La traccia finale Goodbye è invece un blues elettronico meno triste di quanto suggerisca il nome.

The new album, came out a week ago, is called Delta Machine: people who make machines use the term "delta" to indicate "change". But it is also a type of blues associated with a vocal style very dark and introspective. The solemnity and reflection are definitely the cornerstones of the disc. Do not expect a new "People Are People" or "I Just Can not Get Enough", but the melodic immediacy of songs like Angel makes the disc less heavy than we can imagine. It's in the second half that Delta Machine allows some variations. Soothe My Soul is such a bold shuffle suitable for clubs, as well as Alone is moving fast. The final track Goodbye is instead a blues electronic less sad than the name suggests.

2050: CLOTHING PRINTER

Negli ultimi anni le potenzialità della tecnologia si sono unite alla moda attraverso l'applicazione della stampa 3D per creare capi d'abbigliamento particolari e unici nel design. Per chi non lo sapesse, una stampante 3D permette, partendo da un modello 3D realizzato al computer, di stampare in materia poli merica una qualsiasi forma e quindi qualsiasi capo in tre dimensioni. In questo video si possono vedere alcuni dei capi realizzati con una stampante 3D.

In recent years, the potential of technology have joined the fashion through the application of 3D printing to create clothing special and unique in design. For the uninitiated, a 3D printer allows, starting from a 3D model created to computer, to print any form (and therefore any clothes) in three dimensions. In this video you can see some of the garments made with a 3D printer.

Il designer Joshua Harris ha notato come attualmente l'industria della moda sia dispendiosa rispetto alle risorse. I capi vengono spediti in diversi luoghi prima di arrivare al consumatore. Inoltre la loro durata di vita è di pochi anni. Unendo questo spreco alla possibilità di creare oggetti personalizzati attraverso la stampa 3D, Joshua ha pensato di progettare una stampante 3D casalinga per l'abbigliamento.

The designer Joshua Harris noted how the fashion industry is currently expensive on the resources. The clothes are shipped in several places before reaching the consumer. Moreover, their lifetime is a few years. Combining this waste to the ability to create custom objects through 3D printing, he decided to design an in-home 3D clothing printer.

Il progetto è arrivato alle semifinali del concorso annuale di design promosso da Electrolux nel 2010, il cui tema era quello di trovare una soluzione per far fronte alla rapida urbanizzazione della popolazione che avrebbe cominciato a fare drastici cambiamenti nel modo di vivere entro il 2050.

The project reached the semi-finals of the annual design competition sponsored by Electrolux in 2010. The theme of the competition was to find a solution to cope with the rapid urbanization of the population that would begin to make drastic changes in the way we live in 2050.

Catturare il cuore di molti con canzoni accattivanti non è qualcosa di nuovo. Basta dare uno sguardo alla musica pop di oggi: beats mielosi, voce dolci, ritornelli indimenticabili. La musica pop di solito però non è costruita su emozioni o realtà ed è un caso raro in cui un artista canta la verità su ciò che sente. Tuttavia, negli ultimi anni, più artisti sembrano essere più trasparenti o almeno tale trasparenza è diventato il centro dell'attenzione: Adele, Lana Del Rey, Marina & The Diamonds. Tutta musica con una spina dorsale emotiva. Uno di questi artisti è il francese Woodkid. La sua canzone d'autore ha catturato l'attenzione di molti, diventando sempre più un artista "da sentire". Questo mese è stato pubblicato il suo album di debutto, The Golden Age.

Capture the hearts of many with catchy songs is not something new. Just take a look at today's pop music: beats syrupy, sweet voice, unforgettable choruses. Pop music, however, is not built on emotions or reality and is a rare case that an artist sings the truth about what he feels. However, in recent years, most artists seem to be more transparent or at least that transparency has become the center of attention: Adele, Lana Del Rey, Marina & The Diamonds. All music with a backbone emotional. One of these artists is Woodkid. His songwriting has captured the attention of many, becoming an artist "to hear." This month has been released her debut album, The Golden Age.

L'età d'oro di cui Woodkid parla è la giovinezza. Alla soglia dei 30 anni, infatti, Woodkid affronta con le sue canzoni il difficile periodo di transizione tra un momento della vita fatto di spensieratezza, gioia incondizionata e la dura realtà di essere adulti, delle responsabilità e difficoltà della vita "da grande". Se il suo disco si apre con il verso "The golden age is over" non è quindi un caso.

The golden age Woodkid talks is youth. At the age of 30, Woodkid faces with its songs the difficult transition period between the time of a life made of light-heartedness, unconditional joy and the harsh reality of being an adult, of responsibilities and difficulties of life "grew up". If his disc opens with the line "The golden age is over" is not a case.

Tutto il disco si basa su un impianto sinfonico, con percussioni orchestrali, archi e ottoni. Ritmi incalzanti post-tribali su una voce calda quanto fragile (simile a quella di Anthony Hegarty). Si passa da momenti più dolci (I Love You, la mia preferita) a canzoni intime (Boat Song), tutte impostate su piano-voce a cui si aggiungono gradualmente gli strumenti arrangiati in modo quasi maniacale. L'epicità di questo disco mostra come la connessione tra pop, orchestra e video arte (di cui lui stesso è regista) è possibile. Come la volontà di arrivare al grande pubblico può passare per suoni attenti, liriche crudeli ma autentiche. Un po' indie ma mai snob.

The whole record is based on a symphonic system, with orchestral percussion, strings and brass. Fast-paced rhytms post-tribal on a fragile and hot voice (similar to Anthony Hegarty). You go from sweetest moments (I Love You, my favorite) to intimate songs (Boat Song), all set to piano-voice gradually in addition to instruments arranged in an almost manic way. The epic nature of this record shows that the connection between pop, orchestra and video art (of which he is a director) is possible. The desire to reach the general public can go to sound alert, lyrical cruel but true. A bit indie but never snobbish.
