Fogo de Chão is one of few restaurant chains that maintains a somewhat positive buzz. Customers love the unlimited steak slices, Caipirinhas, and the restaurant’s surprisingly decadent happy hour. However, one terrible experience can make a bigger impression than multiple positive ones. A woman received a complimentary cheesecake from Fogo de Chão to make up for her negative experience. But somehow, the “I’m sorry” dessert made everything worse.

Tianna (@ms.tianna__) posted a video that received more than 164,000 views. In it, she called out a Fogo de Chão location in Queens, which reportedly served her awful drinks and stale bread. After she discussed the issue with a manager, she says the restaurant gave her a cheesecake slice as compensation. Only the cheesecake slice had strawberries next to it that were visibly decaying in the to-go box, she alleges.

The content creator offered scathing criticism. “Y’all have to do better. Bread stale, drinks were garbage, rotten dessert. C for an inspection?? Horrible all around,” she says.

An ‘I’m Sorry’ Dessert From Fogo De Chão

Tianna says that during her trip to Fogo de Chão, she drank terrible beverages and had an overall bad experience. But a manager at Fogo de Chão tried to make things right. She says he offered her a cheesecake slice to-go. The manager apparently insisted she take the slice with her.

“This was the free dessert that the manager at Fogo wanted us to have so badly,” Tianna says, while showing the box to her audience. “He was so adamant to give us free dessert to compensate us for having s—– drinks after we told him, ‘It’s OK. You know, it’s fine. No dessert needed.”

In her video, she details what was wrong with the cheesecake slice. She says a strawberry included with the dessert that appeared to have mold on it.

“This is the cheesecake to-go that’s been sitting there since God knows how long,” she says. “It wasn’t until we walked out of the restaurant that we noticed that they even had a C for an inspection.”

The C Rating

In the comment section, viewers discussed the restaurant’s C rating and the mold on the strawberry, as well as personal experiences with the location.

“I have YET to hear anything good about this place for any location! Either the food is bad or old or folks getting food poisoning,” one viewer said.

Then another made a bold claim. “They put a plant in front of the [C-grade] certificate,” they said.

“[Needs an] ‘F’ … Ain’t no way staff didn’t notice that – mold,” another viewer replied.

Tianna and other commenters are correct about the rating. The location at 92-50 59th Ave, Elmhurst, does indeed have a C rating, according to New York City’s ABCEats Health Department inspection results. In order to get a C rating, a restaurant would have to accumulate 28 or more violation points during a health inspection, according to NYC Health.

Additionally, NYC Health notes that “Grade cards must be posted where they can easily be seen by people passing by,” making the alleged maneuver to hide the card appear at least slightly dubious.

The only solution, according to many of Tianna’s commenters, was to report the situation. Some viewers recommended getting in touch with the Better Business Bureau. Others told her to contact the health department.

If you’re a Texas Longhorn fan who enjoys drinking Bud Light, then this might just be the deal of the century. A Walmart shopper happened upon 12-pack stacks of the Longhorns-themed beer.

Originally, a dozen cans of the stuff would set customers back $14.12. However, thanks to a rollback special dished out by the store, folks only have to pay $1.87. At least, that’s according to the signage showed off in Araceli’s (@yourgurlceli) video.

Viewers speculated why the beer at the customer’s location was so cheap, with the most common theory being the beer is expired.

Others suggested turning the find into a side hustle. “I would buy all of them and sell them for 10 bucks or even eight dollars if you buy multiple,” one wrote.

False Bud Light Rollback Alarm

Unfortunately for beer lovers in the Lone Star state, the sticker price wasn’t genuine. Araceli explained in the comments section of her video that the actual discount applied to the beer resulted in its sales price being $11.87. As she told another person on the platform, “Nah girl it was a joke. The other number was under the pallet so basically $11.87. But imagine?” she penned.

In another exchange, Araceli also rejected claims that the beer was past its best by date. She said, “It wasn’t expired … it was a joke it was just missing a number but people were getting them they didn’t see the missing number.”

All About The Bud Light Longhorn Can

Anheuser-Busch issued a press release on Nov. 20, 2025, that it would be offering cans branded with the University of Texas at Austin’s team logo and colors. In the statement, the Bud Light manufacturer explained that its partnership with the team first began in 2022. Furthermore, limited-edition branded cans of the product would be offered at select locations.

Fans of Shane Gillis also saw the comedian rocking Longhorn gear in Bud Light commercials. His involvement as a spokesperson-by-association for the team via his Bud Light sponsorship was called into question. Chron highlighted how Gillis once told Andrew Schulz how living in “Texas f——— blows.” At the time, he said his reason for the disdain stemmed from its exceedingly hot weather and power outages.

However, shortly after moving there in 2024, he told Theo Von on a podcast that he enjoyed residing in the Lone Star state. He said that living in Austin was great for working comedians.

As for the working relationship between the Longhorns and Anheuser-Busch, it technically dates back decades. That’s because Anheuser-Busch “has called Texas home since 1966,” per the brewing company. So naturally, it isn’t all that surprising to see Bud Light repping the team in its own branding.

Bud Light Has Shown Love For Other Teams, Too

In a separate press release issued on Sept. 1, 2026, Anheuser-Busch announced that it was releasing “Can-O-Flage” sleeves in a team-up with Fanatics. These can covers are stainless steel insulated can holders that feature the Bud Light branding paired with the colorways and logos of each and every NFL team.

These $39.99 a piece sleeves were Anheuser-Busch’s solution to allow fans of sports teams who live outside the cities the teams play in. But if you happen to reside in the same zip code as your favorite squad, you can also purchase region-specific Bud Light cans that rep your team’s branding right on the aluminum, too.

Lars Anderson, Tom Brady’s biographer, has said that he would “not be surprised” if the legendary quarterback attempted a comeback. Anderson says he thinks Brady wishes he got an eighth Super Bowl ring.

Tom Brady played in the NFL for 23 seasons and won seven Super Bowl titles (six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Bucs). Brady, however, has been retired since 2023 and has been calling NFL games for Fox since 2024.

“I do think that if Tom had his druthers, he would be playing right now, and I would not be shocked if he somehow tries to play next year.”

The oldest player to ever appear in an NFL game was Oakland Raiders quarterback George Blanda, who retired at the age of 48 in 1975. If Brady were to ever appear in another NFL game, he would break that record.

The most likely scenario for a Brady return would be an injury to a starting quarterback on a Super Bowl-caliber team. If the Los Angeles Rams lost Matthew Stafford, for example, Brady could potentially be an option they’d look into, particularly since their offense is already built around an older, immobile quarterback.

To avoid being hit by a swerving truck during a multi-car crash, a Kansas State University student leaped from a 70-foot-tall overpass. Miraculously, she survived and is recovering in a hospital.

Authorities posted on social media that the Manhattan Fire Department responded to a four-car collision on Highway K-18 near the East Riley Avenue off-ramp in Ogden, Kansas, on Saturday.

Witnesses said a woman standing on the bridge’s shoulder leaped off to avoid being struck by a truck swerving to avoid debris. She suffered “major injuries” after falling about 70 feet.

Local emergency services were key to her safe rescue after the fall

According to the Riley County Police Department, Riley County Fire District #1 and Riley County Emergency Medical Services assisted in the search for the student, identified as 21-year-old Kyra Kinnison, a junior studying animal science, and offered assistance. When the Manhattan Fire Department arrived to help, they lifted Kinnison from the area beneath the bridge using high-angle rescue equipment.

“Manhattan Fire Department is grateful for the coordinated response by all agencies involved,” said MFD Battalion Chief Keith Habbart. “The quick thinking, teamwork, and professionalism shown by responders helped ensure the patient could be rescued and transported for further care.”

“We appreciate all the coordination amongst the agencies and responders on scene,” said RCFD #1 Fire Chief Doug Russell. “We’ve built trust over many years of working side by side, and that trust matters when people need us to work together quickly and effectively like we did for this rescue.”

How did the fall from the overpass happen?

Sara Celeen, one of Kyra Kinnison’s close friends, told WIBW News that Kinnison and her boyfriend, Dalten Grabast, were traveling in separate cars to Salina, when they came upon debris on Highway K-18.

“[Her boyfriend] swerved around it and stopped. And [Kyra] pulled over to the side of the road, and then, a vehicle crashed into his vehicle,” Celeen said.

As Kinnison was walking along the shoulder of the overpass a truck approached her at full speed, putting her in danger while more oncoming cars crashed.

“She jumped back to get out of the way, and the railing is not very good; you can easily lean over it and fall,” Celeen said.

She suffered some serious injuries, but is already on the road to recovery

Although Kyra Kinnison survived the fall, she sustained severe back fractures, as well as others to her pelvis, tailbone, and several vertebrae.

“It felt like an eternity because I didn’t know the condition she was in or if I was going to lose the love of my life or not,” her boyfriend told DailyMail.com. “Once they got her up on the bridge I walked beside her while she was on the stretcher to EMS and let her know I was there with her, and that I loved her.

“It’s a miracle she ended up in the condition she is in. After the fall with the support of a walker she was able to walk a little under 48 hours of the accident happening/”

Celeen, created a GoFundMe to cover Kinnison’s rent, medical bills and “anything else she needs.”

“I visited her yesterday with lots of gifts from coworkers and friends,” she wrote alongside a selfie of them in a hospital room. “Kyra says thank you to everyone who has been supportive and that she loves and misses everyone!”

Strangely enough, Kyra Kinnison wasn’t the only 21-year-old female college student to miraculously survive a serious fall this week.

Another college student also survived a multi-story fall this week

On Saturday, 21-year-old University of Georgia student Kristin Sargent fell from an eighth-floor window at the Rambler Athens apartment complex in Athens, Georgia, while “dancing on a couch or air mattress.” She was reportedly near an open window when she fell through the screen.

Sargent’s injuries were not revealed, but she is currently recovering in intensive care.

“She was talking to one of her friends and saying, ‘Hey, I’m alive. I can’t believe it,’” said her father, Richard Sargent, adding, “She’s a good fighter, and so she’s going to be okay.”

Winning a college football national championship comes with perks. Recruiting sees an uptick. You get the national spotlight throughout the offseason. The ability to maintain success becomes a bit easier.

While the majority of reigning champs don’t follow up with another title campaign, most are still competitive on the field.

For these 11 schools, that was not the case. Success proved elusive the year after hoisting the trophy. They all finished .500 or below the next season.

The 11 worst reigning college football national champions.

For one reason or another, the momentum didn’t continue into the next season for these 11 schools. They lost as many or more games than they won. In doing so, they toppled from the top of the standings to out of the rankings completely.

We’ll move through this list going from best to worst in terms of records. The team at the top (bottom) nearly went winless in its follow-up campaign.

2020 LSU Tigers

The 2019 LSU football team is arguably the greatest of all time. The Tigers were a perfect 15-0 behind an offense that set multiple NCAA records. Quarterback Joe Burrow won the Heisman trophy as a result.

Unfortunately, the performance wasn’t replicated the following year. LSU had 14 players drafted, five of which went in the first round. Replacements were unable to match success.

The Tigers went 5-5 in the 2020 COVID season. Head coach Ed Orgeron would be fired the next year. LSU is the most recent defending national champion to finish .500 or worse.

1950 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The 1949 Fighting Irish went 10-0 led by head coach Frank Leahy with wins over the likes of USC, UNC, Michigan State, Iowa, and fourth-ranked Tulane.

Notre Dame averaged 36 points per game to rank fifth in the nation. Every win was decided by double-digits. They held the No. 1 spot for the final eight weeks of the season.

In 1950, the program took a major step back. Despite starting the year at No. 1 in the preseason poll, they were unranked by Week 4. Notre Dame was beaten soundly by Purdue and Indiana. They also tied Iowa.

The Irish finished the year 4-4-1.

1928 Yale Bulldogs

In 1927, Yale won its most recent of 18 (or 27 depending on who you ask) college football national championships. It was rated as the nation’s top team by both the Boand System and the College Football Researchers Association.

While Illinois and Georgia were voted as the true champs by most accounts, Yale still claims its title. There would be no debate the following year surrounding the Bulldogs.

After going 7-1 with a loss to UGA in ’27, Yale went 4-4 in ’28. That came despite a 3-0 start. After beating Maine, Georgia, and Brown, the Bulldogs dropped four of their final five games. The season ended with a 17-0 shutout at the hands of Harvard.

1923 Princeton Tigers

Princeton went 8-0 in the 1922 campaign to earn a vote as national champion. It split that honor with Cal and Cornell. The Tigers shut out six of their eight opponents. They allowed just 4.2 points per contest.

The next year, however, was full of struggles. The offense couldn’t score, being held to three points or less on four occasions. While they did pick up wins over Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, and Swarthmore, the Tigers were embarrassed by Yale and Notre Dame.

They finished the year 3-3-1.

1919 Michigan Wolverines

Michigan went a perfect 5-0 in 1918 to earn a national championship tag. The Wolverines allowed just six points in the season. Only one opponent got on the scoreboard.

Michigan beat Ohio State, Michigan State, and Syracuse in that undefeated season. The next year, it went 3-4.

The Wolverines’ dominant defense disappeared. Althouth though they started the year 2-0, they fell in four of their final five contests to finish below .500. All four setbacks came by double digits to Ohio State, Chicago, Illinois, and Minnesota.

1943 Ohio State Buckeyes

Not to be outdone, Michigan’s rival Ohio State makes the list due to a subpar season in 1943. The Buckeyes were the undisputed national champions the year prior with a 9-1 record.

During that season, they took down the likes of USC, Pitt, Michigan, and Illinois. Every win came by double digits. The lone loss was at the hands of sixth-ranked Wisconsin on the road.

In 1943, Ohio State struggled. The team was just 3-6 with blowout losses to Northwestern, Purdue, and the Wolverines. It’s one of the worst seasons we’ve seen from a defending college football national champion.

1929 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Georgia Tech topped the rankings with a perfect season in 1928. The Yellow Jackets went 10-0 with seven wins in the Southern Conference.

The Ramblin’ Wreck beat Notre Dame, UNC, Alabama, and Georgia before a Rose Bowl triumph over Cal. They won their games by an average score of 24-6.

In 1929, it was a different story. After a season opening win against Mississippi State, the Yellow Jackets dropped six of their next eight games to finish 3-6.

1967 Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State was named national champion by the NFF (now the joint Football Writers Association of America-National Football Federation poll) after a 1966 college football season in which it went 9-0-1, though it technically finished second in the AP Poll.

There is certainly a case for the No. 1 spot, and as so, the Spartans claim the title. Michigan State won each of its first nine games with an offense that ranked seventh nationally in scoring. The team tied Notre Dame in its final contest to split a share of the championship with the undefeated Fighting Irish.

The next year, the wheels came off. Michigan State started 0-2 and later went on to drop five straight matchups to Minnesota, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Indiana, and Purdue. The Spartans finished 3-7 for a winning percentage of just .300.

1939 TCU Horned Frogs

The Horned Frogs won the 1938 national championship on the back of Heisman trophy winner Davey O’Brien. TCU went 11-0. It boasted a Top 5 offense.

The program beat Arkansas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas, and SMU on its way to an undefeated campaign. They capped the year with a win in the Sugar Bowl.

Success wasn’t replicated in 1939. O’Brien’s departure to the NFL was felt. The offense scored less than 12 points per game.

TCU was blown out by Texas A&M and Baylor. It won just a single conference game to finish with a 3-7 overall record.

1913 Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State won a share of the national championship in 1912 by going 8-0. Included in their wins were beatdowns of Ohio State and Pitt.

The Nittany Lions boasted the No. 1 defense in the country, allowing less than one point a game. The offense, meanwhile, was Top 10 nationally scoring at a clip of 35.6 points per contest. Just one opponent scored on Penn State. Every game was decided by two possessions or more.

In 1913, there was a drastic falloff. The Nittany Lions averaged less than 10 points a game on offense. They were beaten handily by Washington & Jefferson, Harvard, and Penn. They also lost to Navy, Notre Dame, and Pitt.

The season actually began with some promise behind a 2-0 start. The Nittany Lions then lost six straight matchups to finish 2-6.

1934 Michigan Wolverines

The worst performance from a defending college football national champion came in 1934. The Michigan Wolverines own the title of worst reigning champ.

In 1933, the team went 7-0-1 to be named undisputed king. They shut out five of their eight opponents, racking up wins over Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois, and Iowa.

That team ranked 25th nationally in offense and sixth in defense. Both sides fell off dramatically in the year to follow.

The 1934 Michigan Wolverines scored just 2.2 points a game while ranking 115th in defense. Though they did pick up a 9-2 win over Georgia Tech in Week 2, the squad finished 1-7 with blowout losses to Ohio State, Minnesota, Michigan State, and Chicago.

Michigan ended the season with a winning percentage of just .125. One Georgia Tech touchdown was the different between that and a winless campaign.

Football season is upon us—which means you’ve probably already realized that your fantasy team is not as good as you hoped.

It’s an annual problem: You draft a team thinking you’ve got all the best picks, then one by one, you’re shown to be an idiot. While some trades and waiver-wire pickups may be able to get you out of a bind, at the end of the day, you can’t build a castle on a bad foundation. In other words, you can say goodbye to the $50 you put in your office fantasy league—or get ready to do something pretty embarrassing.

But what if there was a better way? You’re a busy guy, after all. You shouldn’t have to worry about the ins-and-outs of daily fantasy. No, you should let someone else handle all of that! But is that even possible?

It turns out, the answer is “yes.” Across the country, there are people hiring fantasy football managers. Various companies claim to offer these services, alleging that they can draft your team and deal with weekly lineups, waivers, trades, injuries, and more. Maybe it removes a bit of the magic from fantasy football—but on the other hand, it just leaves you with more time to enjoy the game.

At least, that’s how it’s supposed to work on paper. In reality, getting a fantasy football manager can lead to some pretty awkward situations, as one TikTok user recently found out.

A Fantasy Football Manager

In a video with over 88,000 views, TikTok user Tony Siciliano (@tonysillyano) explains that he decided to “change up” his fantasy football approach this season by hiring a general manager.

“I maintain the ownership position, so I pay to buy in, and the GM is gonna get a piece of the pie if we win,” he explains. “This freed up my schedule. Let me watch the little football a little more unbiasedly.”

While this may seem like an OK idea on the surface, Siciliano says it hasn’t been working out for him.

“Now, we have started the season 0 and 2, and it’s looking like we’re gonna end up 0 and 3 after this week,” he says. “Is it too soon to fire a GM that I just hired at the beginning of the season?”

Siciliano says he’s “never been in this position before as an owner of a fantasy football team.”

“I have someone on the payroll, basically, and I don’t even know how to fire somebody in this role,” he summarizes.

It Gets Worse

In an update, Siciliano says that they did, in fact, go 0 and 3. But that’s not the only problem.

“We’re going to see what happens in week four,” he says. “The GM did just make a very bold move by benching the entire team, so we’ll see if that rallies up the troops.”

“But, if we get to 0-4, I think I’m going to start the interview process, and it’s going to be a very quick hire,” Siciliano continues. “He’s got one week for this team to rally behind him—see if that mass benching does the trick or not, but I’m not very confident in it.

Uh, Do People Really Hire GMs For Their Fantasy Football Teams?

While the underlying practice may be a thing that actually exists—i.e. people really do hire GMs for their fantasy football teams—it’s unlikely that Siciliano is being 100% honest about something that actually happened. Instead, this is probably just a bit about how far people will go for their fantasy team (and how dumb some of the decisions they make can be).

There are a few obvious clues that this is the case, but if you need just one, “benching the entire team” cannot motivate a fantasy football team because they don’t know you did that and, therefore, cannot be motivated by it. Fantasy football exists only on your phone. It’s not like you bench your QB and Drake Maye gets yet another notification that he needs to get his act together.

But, in an email to BroBible, Siciliano, who is a comedian, insisted that this was all legit.

“This is based on an actual agreement in place. I also got permission from my league to set it up this way for the season,” he wrote. “I made a shortlist, and the league agreed on our close friend John taking over GM duties for the season…I was traveling around Southeast Asia during the draft. So I would have been out in Bangkok at 2am drafting a fantasy team from house music club. So, I figured the logical decision was to bring on a GM.”

According to Siciliano, the GM is aware that he’s not in a good place right now.

“He is aware he is on the hot seat. He actually benched the whole roster. I don’t have a starting lineup right now. He’s convinced it’s the players,” he summarizes. “I am open to bring[ing] on his replacement mid-season. I am getting approval from the league.”

Should The Fantasy Football GM Get Fired?

In the comments section, many users pitched the TikToker on their own services. Others simply suggested the best way to encourage the GM to get his act together.

“I’d have a conversation and see what his plan is moving forward. If he has a solid plan, maybe give him 2 more weeks. If not, let him go,” wrote a user.

“Give him an option to resign now or carry out the season. If he can’t make playoffs he owes half the buy in,” offered another.

“Nah man, this is a cut throat business, unfortunately if your payroll isn’t making you money, it doesn’t make sense to have them on payroll,” stated a third.

In response to comments like these, Siciliano tells BroBible he’s listening.

“What has been fascinating about the response has been the desire so many great candidates have reached out to try and turn this season around,” he wrote. “This historically is a top performing program. Team ‘Uncle Tony’ is a team players want to play for. So we will be back soon.”

TikTok creator Ash (@pockets4bees) is the bartender who served the “mat shots” and recorded the experience for posterity.

“First time in 8 years of bartending that someone specifically asked for two mat shots,” she wrote in the video’s text overlay.

What Did These 2 Men Order?

The video starts with Ash discussing the proposition with her customers. “Don’t worry, this is free,” she tells one of them.

Then, she picks up one of the bar mats in front of her and funnels its contents into a tiny plastic cup. The video cuts to Ash serving the two shots and then men drinking them.

“And on a full moon, too,” Ash wrote in the caption. “So that makes sense.”

What Is A ‘Mat Shot?’

The discussion in the comments section includes equal parts revulsion and fascination.

“Mat shots are like a drop of every alcohol you served???” wrote one incredulous viewer.

“I’m about to throw the [expletive] up,” wrote a second person.

“Is this a sign of inflation?” joked a third person.

Someone else discussed the practical implications. “If I knew for a fact the mats got cleaned every single night, I might try it,” they wrote. “But since I highly doubt they are, that’s just asking for some type of illness.”

Ash clarified that the mats are indeed sanitary. “They’re cleaned every night!” she wrote.

Are ‘Mat Shots’ A Real Thing? And, Again, Why?

According to VinePair, the “mat shot” is also known as the “Jersey Turnpike” and by half a dozen other nicknames. But the basic premise is the same: Dribble the liquid collected in the bar mats over the course of the evening into a shot glass.

Bartenders discussed this in a thread posted to Reddit’s r/bartenders two years ago. “I’ve heard it given many names,” the OP wrote. “My personal favorite is the New Jersey Turnpike, in reference to where you’ll end up after drinking it.”

One person wrote, “We call it ‘The Birthday Shot’ and give it to those insufferable adults that demand free [expletive] just because it’s their birthday.”

Two weeks ago, LeBron James became the face of Polymarket after signing a massive $15 million/year deal with the company.

While speaking to the media on Thursday, Wembanyama said he would never promote a sports betting company and feels it’s sad that some players do.

“Absolutely not. Honestly, I think it’s very sad to see some players promote it.”

Wembanyama explained that he wants to inspire the youth in a good way, and doesn’t need money from gambling companies.

“Obviously, we earn millions and millions. This is not our biggest strength. Our biggest strength is inspiring, and we can inspire in a good way or a bad way. I want to inspire in a good way. That’s the strongest thing I can do.”

Tony Stewart won the 2004 NASCAR race at Watkins Glen. That was the good news. Unfortunately, he quickly had to head to his motorhome instead of victory lane after pooping himself during the race.

The story about this happening has been floating around for years. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is one person who has brought it up on more than one occasion.

So the story goes, Tony Stewart was experiencing “stomach cramps” early in the race and wanted to exit the vehicle, according to the broadcast. In an attempt to “calm his stomach,” the crew handed him something at a pit stop on lap 30 while they were looking for another driver who could get into the car so Tony could relieve himself.

The team found one, but with 48 laps remaining, Stewart took the lead. So, with 33 laps remaining, Tony Stewart made it to pit road, but instead of switching drivers, he said he felt better and could finish the race, which he ended up winning.

Based on the reports and the fact that Stewart avoided the customary post-race interview after entering victory lane, then was hurried straight to his motorhome to shower, people began to figure things out. It didn’t help that the broadcast said his crew was bringing him a new firesuit to wear before he addressed the media.

Tony Stewart finally comes clean about getting so dirty

This week, during an appearance on the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Tony Stewart was asked about what happened to the firesuit he was wearing during that race in Watkins Glen.

“It got pressure washed, on a fence,” Stewart replied.

“Krista, bless her heart, peeled that thing off me in the shower, put it in a trash bag, tied a knot in it, put it in another trash bag, tied a knot in that,” he continued. “It went home. Gooch took that thing cuz Gooch can’t smell anyway. Gooch put that thing on there and pressure washed it, cleaned it.

Tony Stewart then explained that he was dehydrated before the race so he ate an “entire fruit platter, not even thinking.” Bad idea.

After “it” happened, Stewart said he told his crew that he “was good.”

“I never passed a car until that happened,” he said, according to Whiskey Riff. “I was so uncomfortable in the car. … After that I was like, ‘Well I got nothing else to focus on now.'”

As bad as it was, Tony felt that those he beat in the race probably should have felt worse.

“It was one of the most uncomfortable and humiliating moments of my racing career, but then I sat there when I got to victory lane and I’m like, ‘There’s all these guys that got beat by a guy that just s— himself,'” he recalled. “You think I feel bad? How do you think those guys feel, knowing that that happened?”

Apparently, Tony Stewart lacked the special skill Dale Earnhardt Jr. claims to possess.

Pete Crow-Armstrong made $745,000 during his first full major-league season in 2024, which probably felt like a pretty significant upgrade from minor-league life. Two years later, one piece of the uniform he wore for his MLB debut has been turned into a baseball card worth $1.098 million.

Crow-Armstrong’s one-of-one 2024 Topps Chrome Update MLB Debut Patch Autograph sold Tuesday night at Goldin for a $900,000 hammer price, with the 22% buyer’s premium pushing the final total to $1.098 million. Baseball America notes that the sale came within just $12,000 of matching the all-time record for an MLB Debut Patch card.

This is where the numbers become ridiculous.

Crow-Armstrong’s listed 2024 salary was $745,000. His baseball card just sold for $1,098,000.

That makes the card worth $353,000 more than the salary attached to an entire season of the actual human being depicted on it. Put another way, a collector just paid roughly 47% more for one Crow-Armstrong card than the Cubs paid Crow-Armstrong to play baseball in 2024.

Strong year for cardboard.

The card contains the MLB Debut Patch Crow-Armstrong wore on his right sleeve when he made his major-league debut against Colorado on Sept. 11, 2023. MLB authenticators removed the patch before Topps eventually placed it into the one-of-one autographed card.

It was then graded PSA 10 with a 10 autograph.

So somebody essentially purchased one tiny piece of a jersey worn during a game in which Crow-Armstrong did not even record an official at-bat for considerably more than his first full-season salary.

Baseball cards are doing great.

Paul Skenes Survived By $12,000

Crow-Armstrong came painfully close to owning the MLB Debut Patch record too.

Paul Skenes’ one-of-one patch sold for $1.11 million through Fanatics Collect in March 2025, with MLB reporting that Dick’s Sporting Goods bought the card.

Difference between Skenes and Crow-Armstrong: $12,000. At this price level, that is basically finding change between the couch cushions.

Crow-Armstrong’s sale also demolished the next tier of the market. Nick Kurtz owns the third-highest MLB Debut Patch sale at $516,000, meaning PCA’s card went for more than twice as much.

Of course, the version of Crow-Armstrong collectors are buying today looks considerably different from the rookie making $745,000 in 2024. He finished 2026 with 45 home runs and 41 stolen bases, becoming one of baseball’s biggest stars and sending the value of his earliest cards into another universe.

Still, the comparison is difficult to beat.

College football teams pump crowd noise into practice every week so quarterbacks can practice silent counts and offensive linemen can learn to communicate when nobody can hear anything. Alabama is preparing for Mississippi State by adding a slightly more agricultural soundtrack: an entire practice week filled with cowbells.

Kalen DeBoer said the Crimson Tide planned to incorporate the unmistakable Davis Wade Stadium noise into preparation before Saturday’s road game in Starkville. “Probably a lot of cowbells we’ll be hearing during practice in one form or fashion,” DeBoer said in a press conference, because apparently Alabama’s practice facility is temporarily becoming the loudest livestock auction in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama Has To Prepare For 40,000 Cowbells Somehow

Most hostile environment preparation is relatively simple.

Crank some speakers. Blast generic stadium noise. Force the offense to use hand signals and silent counts. Maybe play annoying music loud enough that everyone leaves practice with a headache.

Mississippi State requires a more specialized approach.

Cowbells have been part of Bulldogs football for nearly a century and are such an important piece of the gameday experience that the SEC specifically carved out rules allowing them inside Davis Wade Stadium. Fans can ring them during certain portions of games as long as they follow the league’s “ring responsibly” restrictions.

That does not make 50,000 people holding metal noisemakers particularly relaxing for the visiting offense.

DeBoer has never coached a game at Davis Wade, and Alabama has not visited Starkville since 2023. That means a significant chunk of the current roster has never experienced the environment either.

They are about to get the tutorial version first.

Mississippi State Just Set A Literal Cowbell World Record

If Alabama needed evidence that DeBoer was not being overly cautious, Mississippi State provided some five days ago.

Bulldogs fans officially set a world record with 41,819 cowbells ringing simultaneously during the Sept. 26 game against Missouri. More than 50 trained volunteers counted the bells entering Davis Wade before everyone was instructed to unleash them at the same time.

Forty-one thousand. Eight hundred nineteen. Cowbells.

The timing makes Alabama’s visit particularly fun. Mississippi State enters the matchup undefeated and ranked after one of its best starts in years, meaning the home crowd probably will not need much convincing to make things miserable for the Crimson Tide.

There is another wrinkle: kickoff is at 11 a.m. CT, and Alabama plans to travel to Starkville that morning. DeBoer said the early start should not be a huge adjustment because Alabama practices in the mornings, but combining an unusual travel schedule with a stadium full of newly crowned world-record cowbell enthusiasts creates a very specific road test.

Don’t even the Villanova Wildcats and head coach Kevin Willard to add any class of 2027 high school recruits to their roster for next season, regarding of how highly rated they are.

After all, why would you add an unknown quantity to your team when you could simply move forward with grown men who have already proven their ability to perform at the college level?

That was the point Willard made Thursday at Big East Media Day in New York City when addressing the current landscape of college sports.

Villanova Coach Kevin Willard Isn’t Recruiting High School Players At All

With the recent expansion of college eligibility and the wild west that is the transfer portal, proven college athletes have become a hot commodity.

So much so that recruiting high school players, even the best high school players in the nation, is something that Willard isn’t particularly interested in doing.

“We’re not recruiting a high school kid this year, so that’s probably a big change,” Willard told members of the media. “(It’s) Just because of the fifth-year rule.

“We have six guys that can come back for a fifth year. So, I’d much rather have one of my players come back than bring in a high school kid”

Willard does think things will normalize slightly in the future.

“Moving forward, this kind of reminds me of what happened with COVID,” he continued. “A lot of high school kids and a lot of high school players got penalized, and it wasn’t their fault. I think after a year or two, this system will flush out, and I think coaches will go back to recruiting high school players.”

Concerns over limited opportunities for high school athletes are something that parents have expressed for years, and now it seems those concerns were justified.

Hopefully, Willard is correct in that the system will sort itself out. But in the meantime, a number of high school athletes are being left out to dry. And it’s impossible to foresee what future changes could continue to upset the college sports landscape.

Around these parts hot sauce is serious business and nowhere does better salsa picante than Mexico. The rich history of Mexico has produced some of the best hot sauces on earth and here we are ranking 11 of the best Mexican hot sauces around because life is too short to suffer through anything that is mediocre.

Initially, I had a handful of other Mexican hot sauces I intended to include in these rankings but as it turns out they either weren’t manufactured in Mexico or did not have a Mexican owner. Furthermore, I put forth a rule that each brand could only be featured once here so while some of the best Mexican hot sauce brands like Valentina and El Yucateco have multiple award-winning hot sauces only one from each will be featured here.

Ranking 11 of the Best Mexican Hot Sauces

For the purposes of this article, I tried to ensure that every major style of Mexican hot sauce had representation, each major pepper varietal, spice level, regional specialties, and more. No list is absolutely perfect but these 11 Mexican hot sauces are among the best of the best and ones I keep stocked at home. You can also purchase any of them by following the links below each listing and that will take you on over to Amazon but let me be clear, that is NOT why I wrote this article. I was simply hungry and drowning my Traeger-smoked chicken in Valentina hot sauce and wanted to share my love of hot sauce with you all! So let’s get to it.

1. El Yucateco Green Habanero Hot Sauce

Made in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula in Kanasín, this might be a controversial pick and I’ll explain why. The rules for these rankings were one (1) hot sauce per brand. El Yucateco produces an incredible array of hot sauces including their Brown Label Hot Habanero and Black Label Reserve. However, it is the El Yucateco Green Habanero which reigns supreme.

With a Scoville rating of between 7,000 and 8,800 SCUs (average 7,900 SCU) it has considerable heat. But it is a Habanero-based hot sauce so that is to be expected. Even still, the heat does not overpower the flavor and it is another incredibly versatile hot sauce.

El Yucateco Green Habanero is a bright green, fruit-forward hot sauce perfect on tacos, eggs, beans, grilled chicken/steak, and rice. Where this hot sauce really wins is by balancing out the acidity and spice. Neither overpowers the other which gives it a vibrant flavor versus one that destroys your taste buds.

2. Valentina Salsa Picante

Valentina Hot Sauce (yellow) might be the best-selling Mexican hot sauce. Part of me wonders if that is because the bottle are absolutely enormous compared to most hot sauce bottles, something I deeply appreciate, or if it is entirely because their flavor profile is intoxicating.

At just 900 to 2,100 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), Valentina Hot Sauce is considerably less spicy than others but it still has a kick and the flavor is incredible. However, the lower SHU rating means that you can drown dishes in it, use it as a marinade, and more, without overpowering any recipe.

Valentina’s is made in Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico using puya chilis that are all sourced from the local state of Jalisco. With local, fresh peppers you get a full-bodied taste that doesn’t punch you in the face with a tidal wave of heat. It also tends to present as saltier than many hot sauces, something I greatly appreciate. It is fantastic on all Mexican food, rice, beans, eggs, tacos, and fried food.

3. Tamazula Hot Sauce

Another hot sauce from Mexico’s Hot Sauce Capital of Jalisco is Tamazula Hot Sauce which is made in Guadalajara and packs between 3,000 to 4,000 Scoville Units. It is a blend of Puya and Chile de Árbol peppers that come together in perfect harmony for heat and abundant flavor.

Heavy on acidity, Tamazula Hot Sauce lends itself perfectly to fried and salty foods. The more salt the better, which is why I LOVE this hot sauce with chips and salsa. And hear me out on this one… it is surprisingly delicious on popcorn if used sparingly. Aside from that, think of this as a quintessential Mexican table hot sauce, a go-to hot sauce, that captures all of the character necessary in homemade dishes.

4. Mexico Lindo Habanero Sauce

If you like Habanero heat and flavor this your hot sauce. Mexico Lindo Habanero Hot Sauce has between 77,000 and 83,000 Scoville Units. It is HOT. But it also packs a ton of flavor.

This hot sauce is made in Hermosillo, Sonora and the company has been around since 1942. Any hot sauce brand that can thrive for 80+ years should be a major green flag. What you get here is bold heat, Habanero flavor, and a fruit-like character that is not watered down by a ton of extraneous ingredients. Perfect for eggs, chicken, soup, beans, and seafood, this is a hot sauce you will come to love if you gravitate toward heavy heat.

5. Cholula Original Hot Sauce

Made in the town of Chapala in Jalisco, Mexico, Cholula is not just among the top selling Mexican hot sauces, it is one of the most popular hot sauces worldwide. Why? Versatility. It goes well on tacos, eggs, pizza, baked potatoes, beans, grilled sausages, etc.

Putting Cholula at #1 feels too easy because it is such a widely beloved hot sauce, a ‘gateway drug’ of sorts to loving spice. It has a unique blend of garlic, arbol, and piquín peppers, along with spices that make it incredibly approachable for people who might be otherwise turned off by spice.

With a Scoville rating between 2,000 and 2,500 SCUs, it has heat but is not overpowering and won’t wipe out the flavor of any dish. Then there is the wooden cap! It looks great on a table. It is immediately recognizable on a shelf or in the pantry. The wooden cap is iconic.

6. Tapatío Hot Sauce

While El Tapatío hot sauce is not manufactured in Mexico it feels spiritually Mexican as even the name itself refers to people from Guadalajara and the label features a Jalisco horseman. Furthermore, the family who built Tapatío’s empire are Mexican-American so the roots run deep and we’ll allow it under these circumstances.

With an average rating of 3,000 Scoville Units, Tapatío has some heat but just the perfect amount. Their combination of pepper, vinegar, and spices work in perfect harmony together versus one element outshining the rest. Soups, seafood, tacos, eggs, all the usual suspects welcome Tapatío hot sauce with open arms. The earthy pepper flavor lingers throughout and keeps you going back for more.

7. Salsa Huichol Hot Sauce

With 1,000 to 3,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), Salsa Huichol hot sauce from Xalisco in Nayarit, Mexico is on the lower end of the Scoville Rating but don’t let that fool you because this hot sauce packs a ton of flavor and heat. For those that don’t float the mainstream, Salsa Huichol is perfection in a bottle.

This is a savory hot sauce with a layered chili flavor which sets it apart from the Valentinas and Cholulas. Their signature flavor comes in large part from Cascabel chilis which get harvested from the nearby Nayar Mountains.

Looking for the perfect hot sauce for seafood? This is your guy right here. Of course, like all hot sauces it works well on tacos and every variety of Mexican food under the sun. Heck, I’ve put this on sweet potatoes earlier this week. But it really shines when dabbed on top of shrimp cocktail, ceviche, fish, oysters, crab, etc.

8. Don Emilio Salsa Macha de Chile Morita

Don Emilio Salsa Macha de Chile Morita is not your traditional Mexican hot sauce. It is more akin to a ‘chili crunch’ than typical hot sauces, but it is also widely used as a hot sauce in my experience. It is produced in Veracruz, Mexico and has a Scoville range from 2,500 to 10,000 SHUs.

A little bit goes a long way! Which is great because it is slightly more expensive than most, at around $15 for a 9oz bottle.

The Chile Morita takes center stage with this one. Smoked and dried jalapeño peppers mixed with oil gives it a ‘finishing’ quality. It is perfect for topping dishes and plays well with barbecue of all sorts. I keep this one in the pantry and will often include a small amount when plating meals and allow my friends and family to use it as they so choose because it is delicious but again, not a typical hot sauce due to the oil.

9. Cosecha Purepecha Clasicas Habanero Hot Sauce

Cosecha Purepecha Clasicas Habanero Hot Salsa is made in Chilchota, in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. Read that name one more time, Hot Salsa, and take that to heart. This one has a serious kick!

With between 10,000 and 25,000 Scoville Units, this Habanero pepper-based hot sauce is perfect for anyone that craves heat but does not want to sacrifice flavor. But with up to 25,000 SHUs, the heat is not for everyone.

I have heard Cosecha Purepecha Clasicas described before as ‘Habanero flavor without *all* of the Habanero heat’ and that is certainly true as biting straight into a Habanero pepper might ruin your day, your week, or even your year. It has a rich, salsa-like character similar to Valentina or Tapatío, almost as if it was prepared fresh for your meal. The name pays homage to the Purépecha people in Mexico’s Michoacán region, ensuring everyone knows it is distinctly Mexican from start to finish.

10. De La Viuda Green Pepper Hot Sauce

Made in Mexico’s Jalisco state using a secret family recipe, there is no official data on De La Viuda Green Pepper Hot Sauce’s Scoville Units but this one packs some heat and is estimated between 1,000 and 5,000 SHUs. Green chili pepper hot sauces aren’t for everyone and by that I mean they most certainly are for everyone and those who deny how delicious they are simply have not given them enough of a chance yet.

This hot sauce has a savory quality and bright acidity. I love it for marinating chicken and steak, on top of eggs and breakfast tacos, and it balances perfectly with anything creamy so avocado is a perfect accompaniment here. Of all the Mexican hot sauces listed here, this one certainly has the brightest ‘verde’ style character.

11. La Sabrozita Homestyle Tomatillo Salsa

One thing I love about La Sabrozita Homestyle Tomatillo Salsa is the plastic soda bottle. It is irreverent, does not take itself seriously, and you can grab it off the table at a hole-in-the-wall spot and drown your enchiladas in this hot sauce and be the happiest person alive.

La Sabrozita Homestyle Tomatillo Salsa packs between 2,500 and 5,000 Scoville Units and is made in Monterrey, Mexico. Tomatillo-style hot sauce is very underrated in large swaths of the United States (where I live) and it wasn’t until the past 10-15 years that I really came to love it because I simply did not have enough exposure prior to that.

With La Sabrozita Homestyle Tomatillo Salsa, the Tomatillo flavor is front and center. The start of the show. It is built around chili flavor that supports the overall blend versus dominating it. This is a veggie-forward hot sauce perfect on enchiladas, grilled chicken, and chips.

Some of the best moments in sports involve a team pulling off a walk-off victory while putting a dagger into the heart of an opponent who endured the pain that comes with seeing victory snatched from the jaws of defeat. College football has produced more than a few of those endings, but there are some that really stand out.

These Are The Best Walk-Off Endings In College Football History

Buzzer beaters and walk-off home runs are cool, but there’s something special about a football game being decided on the very last play. It’s rarer, and they often happen in the most unexpected way.

This list features Hail Marys, trick plays, kick returns, and more. Football games can end in a ton of ways, but these stand alone as the best and most shocking.

Before we dive in, I’d like to give an honorable mention to  Texas Tech beating Texas in 2008. Texas walked into Lubbock a perfect 8-0 and the number one team in the country. Down 33-32 after leading virtually the entire game, Michael Crabtree hauled in a sideline pass and ran it into the end zone to take the lead.

The only problem is there was one second left; the score would obviously prove to be the difference maker, but it doesn’t qualify for the list (Vanderbilt’s shocking fumble recovery to defeat NC State misses out for the same reason).

So without further ado, here are seven college football walk-offs that actually ended the game.

The 2018 National Championship

By far the most significant game on the list, the 2018 National Championship had it all.

Down 13-0 at halftime, Nick Saban made what proved to be one of the greatest coaching decisions of all time by subbing out starting QB Jalen Hurts for true freshman backup Tua Tagovailoa. The tide turned as the freshman threw two second-half passing touchdowns, forcing the game into overtime.

After Georgia kicked a field goal, Alabama knew a touchdown would end the game. It didn’t seem likely after Tua took a 16-yard sack on the first snap, but he bounced back with a game-winning bomb to another true freshman, Devonta Smith, to end the game and clinch a title.

The Kick Six

This time, Alabama is on the wrong side of history. The 2013 Iron Bowl was a big one; it featured No. 1-ranked Alabama and an  Auburn team that came in at No. 4.

Tied 28-28 with one second left, the Tide got to the edge of field-goal range and decided to try a 57-yarder to win. Lifelong Alabama fan Chris Davis Jr. waited under the goalpost in case it came up short.

The kick did not have the leg; Davis ran it back 109 yards, and to everyone’s surprise, Auburn won the football game.

Michigan Has Trouble With The Snap

In 2015, the 12th-best team in the nation, the Michigan Wolverines, hosted their in-state rivals, Michigan State, who were ranked in the top 10. Michigan had them on the ropes, up 23-20 with nine seconds; they just needed to punt the ball away safely, and they would come away with the upset.

If you read my piece about the most embarrassing sports moments in recent history, you know how this ends. But for those who need a refresher, the Michigan punter dropped the snap, got hit, and the ball landed in the hands of MSU’s Jalen Watts-Jackson.

He then returned it all the way for a Spartan touchdown on what would be the last play of the game.

The Play

The ending of the 1982 Cal vs. Stanford rivalry game was so iconic it’s literally known as The Play. Cal was the home team, and they found themselves down by a point with four seconds left.

Stanford was kicking off, and all the Cardinal had to do was cover the kick to beat their rivals. Cal fielded the squib kick and immediately began lateraling the ball to keep their hopes alive.

Miraculously, the Golden Bears executed five perfect laterals to break free for the winning score with no time left. No one expected this, especially not Stanford’s band, which was on the field in celebration before the play was over.

Hail Flutie

Boston College was having a historic season in 1984. The Eagles were 9-2, with a win over No. 9-ranked Alabama under their belt.

Quarterback Doug Flutie was a Heisman candidate, but he was looking for a Heisman moment late in the season when BC traveled to play No. 12 Miami.

The game was a barn burner, with the score 42-39 with six seconds left. The ball was at around the 50-yard line, and Flutie was under center to start the play. He dropped all the way back to his own 35 before launching a pass into the end zone. Miraculously, receiver Gerard Phelan caught it, and the Eagles won on the last play.

The Miracle In Durham

Miami was a part of another last-play miracle 30 years later, but this time in their favor. The 2015 Miami Hurricanes traveled to Duke, where the Blue Devils found themselves in a rare spot: ranked.

The 6-1 Blue Devils had a lot to look forward to in their season, but the unranked Miami Hurricanes stood in their way. Duke scored with six seconds left to make it 27-24 and just needed to cover their kickoff to survive.

Miami proceeded to lateral the ball EIGHT times before ultimately breaking off one of the most improbable kickoff returns you will ever see, and winning the game 30-27.

The 2007 Fiesta Bowl

The 2007 Fiesta Bowl is widely considered one of the best games ever. Boise State and Oklahoma were both ranked in the top 10 entering their final game of the season.

Nicolas Cage has some cutting thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speaking at Fan Expo Dallas, the Oscar winner compared Marvel’s biggest movies to professional wrestling.

While Nicolas Cage has actually played two Marvel superheroes during his career — first in a pair of Ghost Rider movies about 20 years ago and in the recent Spider-Noir series on Prime Video — neither of those projects existed within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Cage, the MCU has become like a “well-funded WWE” as it features “50-plus actors putting on ridiculous outfits.”

“I do say this with love, but when I see these 50-plus and otherwise intelligent and remarkably gifted thespians putting on these ridiculous outfits and getting ready for the fight — let’s face it, it’s all cutting to the fight — it’s hard for me not to be reminded that the MCU is becoming a well-funded and glorified WWE,” Cage said.

Spider-Noir, the Prime Video series that premiered back in May, was canceled after one season last month.

 “For me, one season is perfect, having said what I wanted to say with this dangerous, innovative, pop-art Spider-Man,” he said at the time. “Onwards, upwards, inwards.”

The Oscar-winning actor will next be seen starring as John Madden in the extremely odd-looking Madden biopic when it hits Prime Video in November. Other roles Cage has coming up are in projects such as Best Pancakes in the Country, Fortitude, Lords of War, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and The Prince.

Alongside Cage as legendary head coach John Madden, Madden also stars fellow Academy Award winner Christian Bale as late Raiders owner Al Davis.

Back in January, Jaylen Reed, then in his rookie season with the Houston Texans, was the victim of an armed carjacking at his home. The then-22-year-old safety was reportedly held at gunpoint by three masked men after pulling into his garage.

According to Harris County court documents, Reed, now with the New England Patriots, had rifles pointed at him during the carjacking by three men dressed in black who told him that they wanted “everything he had in the house.”

One of the three carjackers left on foot, while the other two sped off in Reed’s 2021 Jeep Cherokee Track Hawk. The driver of Reed’s car failed to comply when authorities tried to pull the SUV over. This resulted in a pursuit involving several police cars.

Police arrested one suspect after the stolen car crashed. Two patrol cars were damaged during the chase, and one caught fire.

The 20-year-old driver of the stolen SUV was charged with criminal unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felony escaping arrest or detention with a vehicle. When police arrested him, he was already on felony probation. For each charge, his bond was set at $500,000, for a total of $1 million.

The carjacking of Jaylen Reed led to a massive FBI bust

Fast forward to this week and the Houston Chronicle reports that Jaylen Reed’s carjacking led the FBI to arrest more than a dozen people.

FBI Agent Marquis Nelson testified in court on Tuesday that a cell phone data dump showed that the driver of the stolen vehicle’s brother was also nearby when the SUV was taken.

Investigators were then led to a gang known as YNS, a group of rappers from the Greenspoint area who often boasted about their criminal activities on social media. Authorities also further examined one of the men’s social media profiles after discovering his link to Jaylen Reed’s carjacking, according to Nelson.

Investigators then set up a complex sting operation. The members of the organization actually ended up stealing from a building on property owned by the U.S. Army that was used as a fake stash house, as well as from vehicles that were planted, such as a bait car used by the Houston Police Department.

Five of the men who were arrested for their alleged involvement in the gang’s crimes appeared in court on Tuesday for a detention hearing. They were charged with numerous offenses, including conspiracies to commit robbery and distribute controlled substances, as well as several weapons charges.

According to Nelson, the gang’s subsequent robberies were actually “controlled” FBI operations; while they believed they were robbing cartel members of their UHaul, cars, and stash houses, they were actually being caught on camera and wiretapped.

The FBI claims that just prior to their apprehension, the defendants were allegedly getting ready to rob a person who was supposed to meet them to sell 42 bricks of cocaine. Instead, they were surrounded by a SWAT team and taken into custody.

Nelson stated that a confidential source in the music business made the arrests possible. Over the course of several months, as part of the sting operation, the informant—a music producer—led the gang to opportunities to steal cash and drugs from suspected cartel members.

The defendants’ attorneys claimed that because the suspects were lured to a fictitious stash house by law enforcement throughout their investigation, they were entrapped. Attorney Joyce Raynor said it was “surprising that the government would entice these men to commit a crime.”

The judge in the case said on Tuesday that she would continue weighing the arguments before deciding whether to grant the defendants bail. Officials said more cases were expected to be unsealed on Wednesday and Thursday.

Magnus Carlsen has been the top-ranked chess player on the planet, and beating him in a match is an impressive badge of honor for anyone who gets the chance to face off against him. On Wednesday, Chess.com kicked off the inaugural Chess Club Showdown, an event where 4,400 players affiliated with nine esports teams had the chance to compete for a piece of a $25,000 prize pool.

Competitors were randomly pitted against each other in an event where Carlsen represented Team Liquid, and he was eventually paired up with Volen Dyulgerov, a Bulgarian Candidate Master who streams on Twitch under the name “Witty Alien” (his FIDE page classifies him as inactive but lists a classic Elo score of 2181 and 2098 in both rapid and blitz).

The two men met in a five-minute blitz match, and it’s safe to say Dyulgerov was thrilled to discover who he was playing against when you consider he started yelling and ripped off his shirt when he realized it was Carlsen.

The celebration only escalated from there, as he pulled off a gambit that led to him cornering his opponent in less than a minute before the grandmaster resigned—a development that led to Dyulgerov taking off his pants for good measure.

I can’t really say I blame him.

The Philadelphia Phillies overcame a late deficit with their season on the line to beat the Atlanta Braves in the MLB Playoffs. Bryce Harper delivered a powerful message on adversity and resilience after the fact.

His postgame comments should be heard by every youth baseball player striving for greatness throughout the country. Coaches could also learn a thing or two.

Harper was nearly made the punchline on Wednesday afternoon thanks to a costly seventh-inning blunder. He misplayed a flyball off the bat of Drake Baldwin.

Harper drifted towards the ball rather than hustling to get under it. It went over his head to provide the Braves with a late 2-1 lead. Atlanta would tack on another run in the inning to move its advantage to 3-1.

As fate would have it, Harper stepped up to the dish in the next frame with an opportunity to tie the contest. He did just that with a solo home run to right field.

Bryce Harper gets redemption.

Slugger Kyle Schwarber led off the eighth inning with a monster blast to cut the Phillies‘ deficit in half. Harper made it back-to-back jacks with a moonshot of his own.

The home run tied the game at 3-3. Philadelphia would later win in extra innings. By doing so, it kept its season alive.

Atlanta had already won Game 1 of the three-game playoff set. Anther win would’ve sent the Phils packing. Harper wouldn’t have it.

The outfielder knocked in two of the team’s four runs to force a decisive Game 3. It’s now a one-game season with a trip to the Divisional Round on the line.

After the game, Harper was asked about his fielding error and redemption received from that eighth inning swing. He delivered a powerful message that everyone needs to hear.

Harper flushed the mistake.

He thought about his son, Krew, while doing so. “What would I say to him in that situation?” Harper asked. “It’s a learning situation, not just for myself, but for everybody else as well.”

The message was less about baseball and more about life lessons. Everyone will face adversity at some point in their life, regardless of your profession, upbringing, or financial status. We all make mistakes.

The key to success is being able to learn from them, not dwell on them.

“It’s not that serious, to tell you the truth. I think people take it very seriously, and don’t get me wrong, I take it seriously, but I think there’s a mindset especially for kids nowadays. Parents and coaches put so much on kids these days to have to come through and be great.

“But for me, ‘It’s how can you learn from each situation that you’re in to come out great in the next one?'”

Youth sports are at a bit of a crossroads these days. Costs are extremely high. Players are being forced to specialize in one area rather than pursue multiple passions. The expectation to be great is high given the investment.

There is added pressure to succeed at a young age. Much of that weight is unfairly placed on players by parents and coaches. In many cases, the kids wind up being the adults in the room.

Harper has experienced it firsthand. It has to stop.

That’s not to say players shouldn’t be driven, especially when sports are their passion, but there are layers. Sports, particularly youth sports, are about teamwork, sportsmanship, and the pursuit of a common goal. All should be prioritized above the final outcome.

In a sport like baseball, the most difficult on the planet in my opinion, failure is inevitable. As the saying goes, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond.”

Bryce Harper proved it on Wednesday. He could’ve sulked and accepted defeat – and the negative headlines that came with it.

Instead, he rewrote the narrative. He hopes others will follow in those footsteps.

One week ago, Tom Kim was starring at the 2026 Presidents Cup for the International Team alongside South Korean countryman Si-Woo Kim as they defeated the American team of Chris Gotterup and Patrick Cantley in the opening session, 3&2.

Kim went 4-1-0 at the event, scoring the most points of any player on either team. But just one week later, his professional golf future is in serious doubt.

The 24-year-old is currently fighting to keep his golf career afloat as he competes at the 2026 Asian Games. Through two rounds, Kim is 7-under, two shots behind co-leaders Wenyi Ding and Wei-hsuan Wang. Meanwhile, South Korea sits two shots back Japan for the team lead.

Why does any of that matter so much? Because if Kim does not win gold, or Korea does not win gold, then he will not be exempt from mandatory military service and will need to serve between 18 and 21 months in the Korean military.

Si Woo Kim avoided a similar fate by winning a team gold with fellow PGA Tour star Sungjae Im at the Asian Games in 2023.

But not every Korean star has been so lucky.

Kim is currently ranked No. 32 in the Official World Golf Rankings, and there’s a feeling around the golf world that he could well be a future major champion after winning the Genesis Scottish Open and finishing 14th in the FedEx Cup this past season.

But that becomes a lot more difficult if he has to miss two full years of his prime.

Just ask Sangmoon Bae. Bae, a 16-time winner across the world, was ranked as high as No. 26 in the world in 2011. In 2015, Bae was forced into mandatory service. He returned to the PGA Tour in 2017, but never won another event on a major world tour. He made just five of 17 cuts on Tour after returning.

“You know, I just hope I will play good when I come back,” Bae told Golf Digest in 2015. “Because I really love golf and playing on the PGA Tour.”

Perhaps Kim and/or his team can win gold, and he will avoid the spectre of military service hanging over his head. Or perhaps he can do so at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where he’d just need to earn a medal of any kind.

But for now, the promising young star’s career is in limbo, and he may be playing in the most important tournament of his life.

Rapper Rick Ross was recently arrested and charged with felony battery. The judge who arraigned him only added insult to injury.

According to reports, Rick Ross’ attorney asked a Miami-Dade judge Thursday morning that his client get an expedited release because he is a celebrity.

The judge replied by saying she had no clue who he was. Ross’ legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, which is what his lawyer refers to him by in the quotes below.

“Mr. Roberts is a celebrity. I don’t know to whatever degree Your Honor can, but I’d ask that his release be expedited,” his lawyer Steve Sadow said, arguing that a speedy release would be in the interest of Ross’ safety.

“Hi Mr. Roberts. I have no idea who you are, except as somebody here in the court who’s going to be treated fairly, just like everybody here,” Judge Mindy Glazer responded.

Ross, who has pled not guilty, faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery, both domestic violence-related.

Ross was booked around 6:10 a.m. Thursday and appeared in court via video, which you can see a portion of below. His bond was set at $4,000 on the battery by strangulation charge and $1,000 on the misdemeanor battery charge.

The incident, in which Ross allegedly choked his girlfriend until she couldn’t breathe and struck her multiple times, occurred on August 28 at his Star Island home.

Sadow said the accusation came from a former girlfriend and “was not reported to police until about a month after the alleged incident” — the incident was officially reported on September 29 — and said Ross maintains his innocence.

Ross is due back in court for arraignment on Thursday, October 22. Judge Glazer also ordered Ross to surrender any firearms and concealed weapons and prohibited him from possessing firearms, in addition to being ordered not to engage in criminal activity or use illegal drugs while the case is pending.

The WNBA has made its ruling in the A’ja Wilson situation in Indiana.

Earlier this week, Wilson confronted an Indiana Fever fan sitting court-side for pointing at her.

“If I see a man come at me and pointing at me… I don’t give a damn what you said … It’s unacceptable.”

The Indiana Fever reviewed the tape and refused to eject the fan at Wilson’s request.

“Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses. Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena. We consider the matter closed.”

Fans wanted Wilson to be punished for going into the stands to confront the fan, which violates WNBA rules.

“Any coach, player, or trainer who deliberately enters the spectator stands during the game will be automatically ejected,”

On Thursday, the WNBA ruled that Wilson didn’t technically go into the stands, but stood in the “player escape lane.”

According to a league source who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not permitted to speak publicly on the matter, following an in-game review, the on-court game officials determined that A’ja Wilson was in the court area – what is known as a player escape lane – adjacent to the stanchion rather than the stands. Based on that determination, officials decided there was no cause for an ejection. Aces players Kalani Brown and Kierstan Bell, who left the bench during the incident, also won’t face repercussions, according to the source.

Fans still weren’t convinced by the WNBA’s explanation of the Wilson situation.

A recent article showing a significant dip in college football television ratings through the first month of the season caused a major stir across the sports world.

But do the numbers tell the whole story? Not everybody agrees.

The article, written by David Rumsey of Front Office Sports, stated that viewership of college football across all Nielsen-rated networks was down a whopping 11 percent throughout September compared to the same four weeks in 2025.

That is a massive difference.

Some fans pointed to the lack of marquee matchups due to conferences moving to a nine-game schedule and, as a result, avoiding out-of-conference showdowns. But the opening weeks of the season also included a pair of massive games between Ohio State and Texas as well as LSU and Ole Miss in perhaps the most-hyped regular-season game of the season.

On top of that, powerhouses Michigan and Oklahoma squared off, while Ole Miss traveled to Florida. So the lack of quality games argument doesn’t exactly hold up.

Although there is a catch.

Technically, More People Are Watching College Football Than In 2025

I would advise everyone reading this here to consider the source. However, Michael Mulvhill, the President of Insights and Analytics at Fox Sports, notes that, across all outlets, total time viewing college football is up 0.2 percent compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the same number is down 0.7 percent for the NFL.

However, when you apply context, that number becomes less important. There is a larger inventory of viewable games than ever before, which inherently drives up the number. As does the number of people gambling on those games.

Meanwhile, the number of viewable NFL games is unchanged from year to year. Additionally, a close game may keep fans engaged longer, but that does not mean that more of them are watching.

It’s not the first time that Mulvhill, perhaps disingenuously, has spun numbers to reflect his preferential point of view. He did the same previously to defend Fox’s “Big Noon” game of the week.

Perhaps as conference play begins, viewing ratings will trend upward. But with more fans than ever before saying they’re disaffected by the current state of college athletics, it’s not a great sign to see viewership ratings reflect those sentiments.

A 19-year-old college student has been charged with battery following an alleged attack at a high school cross-country meet in Georgia.

Witnesses told police in Newnan, Georgia, that a man wearing a cross-country jersey from East Coweta High School came from the woods carrying rocks.

Police were alerted by a 911 call about the bizarre attack

Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of 56 Sewell Road at 7:59 a.m. on September 26, according to the Newnan Police Department, following a 911 call about an attack at the high school cross-country competition.

According to police, the man charged at the victim, shoved him, and struck him with his fists. The perpetrator then reportedly abandoned the course and rushed back into the woods after the victim defended himself.

The suspect eventually surrendered to the police in a nearby parking lot, which was caught on body camera footage. Police discovered the East Coweta High School cross-country jersey inside the man’s car, according to CBS News.

He claimed it was a joke, but the victim disagreed

The individual was arrested and identified as a 19-year-old resident of Newnan. According to the Newnam Police Department, the suspect never actually attended East Coweta High School. Fox 5 News reported that he raced cross-country at Northgate High School, where he graduated the year before.

He denied punching the cross-country runner and said claimed it was all a joke, but the victim and witnesses said otherwise. Responding officers identified him with help from witnesses who knew him from Northgate High School.

He is reportedly currently enrolled at the University of Georgia. Police said he drove from Athens on Friday night and slept in his car before the attack on Saturday morning.

The suspect reportedly suffered a visible cut above his right eye in the scuffle with the cross-country runner he is accused of attacking. Officers called an ambulance to treat him at the scene. He was charged with battery and then booked into the Coweta County Jail.

The reason behind the suspect’s targeting of that particular runner, or whether he had a personal history with the victim, was not stated by the police.

Spike Lee’s pregame dinner at Yankee Stadium ahead of their Wild Card round-clinching win over the Boston Red Sox took a heated turn Wednesday night. Video showed the iconic New York City director getting into a heated exchange with a fan in the Bronx prior to first pitch.

A video posted to X by Fox Sports’ Andy Slater showed the Malcolm X and Inside Man director being held back by stadium staff in the Legends Suite before Game 2 of the Yankees-Red Sox Wild Card Series.

Spike Lee was restrained by Yankee Stadium staff after a confrontation with a fan who reportedly asked him to say “F Palestine”

According to reports, a fan had filmed Lee while he ate and asked about his views on Palestine. Someone else reportedly then requested a selfie and asked Lee to say “F— Palestine.”

In the video, Lee can be heard shouting, “Why’d you come over to me?” as people around him hold him back. Representatives for Lee and the Yankees didn’t respond to requests for comment.

During NBA All-Star Weekend in February, Lee wore a keffiyeh-patterned sweater and Palestine pins, and later posted on Instagram that the clothes “are Symbols of My Concern For The Palestinian Children and Civilians, And My Utmost Belief In Human Dignity For All Humankind,” adding it was “Not Intended As A Gesture Of Hostility To Jewish People Or To Support Violence Against Anyone.”

The Arizona State Sun Devils placed men’s hockey coach Greg Powers on paid leave Wednesday amid an ongoing investigation into a preseason workout that left sophomore Matthew Mayich on life support.

In the meantime, assistant coach Mike Corbett, who was present for the Aug. 20 workout that sent Mayich into heat stroke and has worked under Powers for the past two years, will coach the team during the first two games of the season.

After which, Arizona State will conduct a larger search to determine an interim head coach. But Corbett comes with a good bit of baggage in his own right.

The arresting officer claimed that Corbett’s breath smelled like beer, he slurred his words, and his eyes were bloodshot. Corbett admitted he had been drinking, telling the officer he’d had two or three Coors Lights in his office. The officer tried to administer a breathalyzer test.

“I’m going to lose my job if I blow into that,” Corbett told the officer. He refused the test.

“I know since I had roughly three beers, I’m going to pull over 0.08 because I had a DUI 15 years ago,” Corbett told the officer. Blood tests later showed blood alcohol levels of 0.091 and 0.094. He pleaded guilty in December 2024 to a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence.

But that’s not all.

Mayich’s family also spoke out against Corbett’s appointment.

“Putting Powers on leave while his best friend of the last decade stays in charge of the locker room doesn’t solve the problem,” they said in a statement to local news station ABC 15.

So not only did Arizona State promote a coach with a sordid past, it also further offended Mayich’s family in the process, and perhaps kept its players in danger.

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Sonny Gray was pulled in the fifth inning of a playoff game vs. the New York Yankees. Some believe that decision was unrelated to performance.

Instead, Gray has been accused of cheating with the use of a sticky substance banned by the MLB. A narrative has been formed on social media. Video of the pitcher’s activity on the mound is fueling the debate.

Gray was effective in a 9-2 loss. He allowed two runs across 4.2 innings with five strikeouts. The Red Sox trailed 1-0 at the time of his benching.

Gray believes the trigger was too quick. He wanted an opportunity to go through the lineup once more. It was taken from him by the coaching staff.

“I’m the best pitcher in the American League going through the order for a third time,” he said after the loss, which ended Boston’s season.

“I would’ve liked to live or die with me in that moment, but that’s the competitor I am… I felt strong, I felt confident, and I felt convicted. But what can you do?”

Gray’s response suggests that he was pulled for performance. He’d allowed a home run to Luis Garcia Jr. in the fourth frame. The Yankees got runners on first and third in the fifth, leading Boston to make the change.

Performance may not be the lone reason for his exit.

Was Sonny Gray cheating?

Video from the game has created an online narrative. Viewers believe there was an ulterior motive for the Red Sox’s decision.

Gray was spotted on numerous occasions touching his neck before pitches. The broadcast appeared to show a sticky substance below the pitcher’s right ear.

He was seen reaching for the area between deliveries and immediately after requesting fresh baseballs.

Boomer Esiason of WFAN Sports Radio questioned why umpires didn’t notice the alleged substance.

“If we all can see that… What are the umpires doing?” he asked. “Why not check his neck? I know they check the hands and I know they check the glove. Why wouldn’t you check the neck? We’re all watching it.”

The MLB rulebook is clear on the “sticky stuff.” It is entirely off-limits. Rule changes were made in 2021.

Following guidance from the Commissioner’s Office that was put into effect June 21, Rules 3.01 and 6.02(c) and (d) will be enforced by umpires, and pitchers caught with foreign substances will face suspension. Clubs will not be able to fill the roster spot while a player is under suspension…

Rule 3.01 states: “No player shall intentionally discolor or damage the ball by rubbing it with soil, rosin, paraffin, licorice, sand-paper, emery-paper or other foreign substance…”

Rule 6.02 expands on 3.01 by stating, among other things, that a pitcher may not “apply a foreign substance of any kind to the ball;” “deface the ball in any manner;” “throw a shine ball, spit ball, mud ball, or emery ball;” “have on his person, or in his possession, any foreign substance;” or “attach anything to his hand, any finger or either wrist (e.g., Band-Aid, tape, Super Glue, bracelet, etc.).”

Why was the pitcher pulled?

Baseball personality Jomboy believes the substance had a direct impact on Sonny Gray’s departure. He was making it too obvious to ignore.

“It’s just very obvious, and it’s not supposed to be happening anymore,” he said. “Maybe that’s why he got pulled out of this game early. Maybe it wasn’t because his manager didn’t trust him and didn’t have any feel for the game. It was like, ‘Oooh, I don’t want you to get in trouble and have this whole reputation.'”

The MLB broadcast appeared to notice the substance on Gray’s neck. It zoomed in on the pitcher multiple times as he reached below his jawline.

For whatever reason, umpires didn’t catch it. Some think manager Chad Tracy was aware and took his ace out to prevent backlash or a potential suspension.

No comment has been made on the allegations. Tracy explained his reasoning for pulling the pitcher after the game. He said that he wanted to be “aggressive” and create tough matchups for New York hitters. That clearly backfired with the Yankees scoring eight runs after Gray’s exit.

It will be interesting to see if the MLB takes a harder look at Gray’s suspicious activity. Rule breakers can be suspended, but with the game and season now over, the pitcher might be in the clear.

Many people underestimate the damage an elk can do, especially when their hormones are firing on all cylinders during mating season. One driver in Colorado was treated to an unfortunate reminder of that reality, as they’ll need to get a window replaced after drawing the ire of a member of a herd that took over a golf course.

Approximately 30 states have a documented elk population, although the vast majority of those massive mammals roam the western part of America. No state boasts more of them than Colorado, which lays claim to the largest number of any defined territory on the planet at an estimated 290,000 (Montana takes the silver with “just” 135,000).

Those animals primarily reside in the western part of the state in the vicinity of the Rocky Mountains, and they spend the warmer parts of the year foraging at higher elevations before heading down when mating season, which is known as the “rut,” kicks off in the fall.

The rut is a bit of a tourist attraction, as many people flock to the areas where the elk convene to experience the signature bugle they use to attract mates and watch bulls battle with their antlers while vying for a partner.

Estes Park is one of the more popular gathering spots for onlookers, but one person highlighted one of the risks that come with getting too close due to what transpired while they were observing a herd.

An elk shattered the window of a car that was stopped on the side of the road in Colorado

Estes Park is a quaint mountain town that sits at approximately 7,500 feet above sea level and attracts millions of visitors per year as the primary gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.

It’s also a popular destination for elk when the rut rolls around, and while the town closes the meadows where they tend to gather to prevent people from getting too close, there’s only so much officials can do to prevent close encounters.

The 18-hole golf course in Estes stays open during the rut, but there’s a very good chance you’re going to cross paths with some elk if you decide to play it in September or October. That’s certainly the case this year, as the track has welcomed a sizable herd, which includes a large bull that has earned the nickname “Smash.”

He certainly lived up to that name earlier this week, as a video that was filmed near the course captured him charging at a white Honda CR-V that had stopped to observe the herd before shattering the rear window as the driver tried (and failed) to drive away before he made impact.

I guess they got a story out of the encounter, but they probably wish it didn’t come with a repair bill.

Boston Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras is not someone who is shy about expressing his feelings. So when he talked about the team’s strategy after losing to the New York Yankees in the Wild Card Series, he didn’t exactly hold back.

At first, Willson Contreras pantomimed zipping his lips with a smirk on his face when asked about manager Chad Tracy pulling Sonny Gray from the game in the fifth inning. That silence, however, didn’t last long.

“We have to do a lot of different stuff and it’s not enough when you have talent or you have data or you have computers telling you what to do,” Contreras said. “This is baseball and the data is here to help us. But at the end of the day, you’re going to need experience and veteran guys to win games. There’s a lot of stuff that I would love to say but I’ll stay like that.”

During both losses to the New York Yankees, Chad Tracy pulled the starting pitcher with two outs in the fifth inning. In both cases, Tracy brought in left-handed reliever Erik Miller to face a Yankees lefty who had already faced the starter twice. The Yankees immediately scored both times.

In neither case, the starters, Payton Tolle and Sonny Gray, weren’t exactly struggling. They had each only allowed one run through 4-and-two-thirds of an inning. Tracy didn’t seem to have much faith in two pitchers who had a 3.03 ERA and a 2.72 ERA on the season, respectively. On Wednesday, Gray, who went 18-5 this season, was lifted after just 70 pitches.

Willson Contreras didn’t ‘have anything to say,’ while saying a whole lot

“At the end of the day, we can talk, we can share ideas,” Contreras added. “But like I said, I’m not making decisions. We (the players) are employees. We get paid to play baseball, and we play to be out there on the field to perform. That’s the bottom line. Of course, we can have some conversations. But, with the CBA coming up, that’s another thing that we have to keep in mind … As of now, no, I don’t have anything (to say).

“The only thing that I can control is my part of the game. Come here to work 100 percent and be out there day in and day out, taking care of my body. Create a good chemistry here with the guys. Support the guys. That’s the only thing that we can do, besides that, making decisions about data, about all the stuff we cannot do anything about it. Like I said, it’s here to help us. But at the end of the day, it’s not about data, it’s about executing the game plan.”

Sonny Gray also expressed issues with Red Sox management after the loss

“I think I’m the best pitcher in the American League going through the order the third time; I think that’s a fact,” Sonny Gray said after the game. “Yeah, I mean, I would have liked to live or die with me in that moment, but that’s the competitor I am. And, yeah, I think you can probably ask the guys and they felt the same way. I felt strong. I felt confident. I felt convicted. But what can you do, you know?”

Sonny Gray isn’t wrong about facing batters for a third time during a game. In 2026, the first time through the lineup, teams hit .243 off of him. The second time through, the average bumped up a little to .267. The third time through the order, however, teams hit just .180 off him in 2026.

When asked if he hoped to return to the Red Sox in 2027, Gray simply replied, “I don’t know.”

Nobody seriously expects a 500-to-1 preseason World Series ticket to survive until October. The Chicago White Sox apparently forgot that part, turning one of baseball’s most ridiculous spring betting options into the outcome at least one major sportsbook now desperately wants to avoid.

Chicago opened the season as long as +50000 to win the World Series, meaning a completely irresponsible $100 bet would return $50,000 in profit if the White Sox somehow finished the job. Now Caesars Sportsbook says Chicago is its biggest liability to win both the American League and World Series, according to Covers.

Someone Could Be Holding A 500-To-1 White Sox Ticket Right Now

That is the beauty (and occasional nightmare) of futures betting.

Sportsbooks can hang enormous numbers on teams they expect to be irrelevant, collect a few novelty wagers, and assume those tickets will die quietly sometime around July.

Chicago did not cooperate.

The White Sox reached odds of +50000 after entering 2026 fresh off three consecutive 100-loss seasons. Two years ago, they lost an MLB-record 121 games. This season, they went 84-78 and made the playoffs.

By the time October arrived, BetMGM had shortened Chicago all the way to roughly +4000 to win the World Series after getting as low as +2,000 during the season.

That creates an incredible difference in potential payout: a $20 wager at +50,000 profits $10,000, while the same $20 at +4000 profits $800.

Someone who bet the White Sox before Opening Day is essentially holding a financial artifact from a period when nobody knew they were going to become competent.

And Caesars really does not want that artifact cashed.

The White Sox Are Making The Problem Worse

The fun part for anyone holding one of those tickets is that Chicago has already refused to immediately disappear.

The White Sox opened their Wild Card Series against Houston with a 6-3 victory and completed the sweep with a 7-3 win to earn the right to face off against the Guardians in the ALDS.

Every additional round makes those ridiculous preseason tickets more uncomfortable.

Caesars head of baseball Eric Biggio identified Chicago as the book’s worst remaining World Series and AL pennant outcome entering the playoffs. BetMGM also listed the White Sox and Padres among its largest championship liabilities.

That does not mean sportsbooks suddenly believe Chicago is the best team in baseball, but at least one person locked in an enormous number before the White Sox became good.

Tatis finished the Wild Card Series against the Cubs 2-for-7 with one home run, one RBI, three runs scored, one walk and one stolen base.

Jones and her husband, José E. Feliciano, were unanimously approved by MLB owners on Aug. 17 in a $3.9 billion deal, the richest franchise sale in league history. Jones is MLB’s first Black woman majority owner, while Feliciano serves as the team’s control person under league rules.

When the Padres clinched a playoff spot at Dodger Stadium on September 24, Tatis danced on the infield grass and hugged Jones, while a video of Feliciano chugging a beer bong with pitcher Walker Buehler went viral on social media.

The Padres closed out the Cubs with a 4-1 win in Game 2 at Petco Park, finishing a sweep after surging through September as one of baseball’s hottest teams. The NLDS against Milwaukee starts Saturday night.

With their win over the Cubs in the NL Wild Card Round, the Padres have advanced to the National League Divisional Series, where they’ll take on the Brewers. The series will kick off in Milwaukee with Game 1 on Saturday, October 3.

The San Diego State football roster could be extremely thin for a Saturday night matchup with Texas State. The Aztecs have more than 30 players listed on the pre-game injury report. A mumps outbreak is believed to be playing a role.

If players are unable to suit up for the PAC 12 contest, it puts the Aztecs at a serious disadvantage.

A recent bulletin to students noted that the San Diego County Public Health Services had confirmed 14 cases and one probable case of the mumps. The outbreak remained within a single athletic team. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that it is, indeed, the football program.

San Diego State football has the mumps.

Mumps is defined by the Cleveland Clinic as an infection that causes painful swelling around your jaw and neck when it infects your salivary glands. It can make it hard to eat and talk. There might also be flu-like symptoms.

Obviously, those are not ideal conditions for football players gearing up for their conference opener. The Aztecs have already struggled to produce wins. This setback won’t help their cause.

San Diego State is 1-3 this year with three straight double-digit losses to UCLA, James Madison, and Toledo. They’ll next face Texas State, who’s riding a two-game winning streak.

The pregame injury report includes upwards of three dozen players. Fifteen are listed in the two-deep. Their statuses range from “probable” to “out.”

The Aztecs have already been hit hard by the injury bug. Starting running back Lucky Sutton missed last week’s contest and is listed as “out” for the Texas State game. His backup, Javion Kinnard, is now doubtful.

Starting right guard Michael Leville Watkins also won’t play. A starting wideout and two tight ends are questionable.

The Aztecs’ roster could be thin.

Of the 32 players listed on the report, 21 are questionable or worse. With 108 players on the team, nearly 20% of the roster is in serious doubt of suiting up. Despite the outbreak, the game is expected to go on as scheduled.

“The football gods have not really favored us with the injury luck,” head coach Sean Lewis said after Wednesday morning’s practice. “Guys have got to be ready to step into the light when the time comes… We’ve been given a nice storm here. But this too shall pass, and we’ve got to be able to see our way through it.”

Lewis has not identified the players exposed to the outbreak. The injury report, however, sheds a bit of light.

Dr. T. Ghosh, medical director of San Diego State Student Health Services, said that “because mumps symptoms can develop 12 to 25 days after exposure, these new cases reflect spread within the team and potential exposure to additional close contacts. The university continues to take a number of daily actions.”

The team is being advised against sharing food and drinks while washing hands frequently in order to stop the spread. The Aztecs’ roster was already injury riddled. It can’t afford for the outbreak to extend further.

Montana angler Daniel Caricaburu-Lundin is a self-described ‘swimbait nerd’ who makes his own custom fishing lures and sells them through his business ‘Click Bait Customs.’ He caught a potential world record Smallmouth Bass last month while fishing with one of his custom-made baits but he lost out on the record books due to a technicality.

Once he got it into the boat and measured the fish it showed just shy of 23-inches. The IGFA fishing world record for Smallmouth Bass is 53cm and his fish was just shy of 58cm. A fishing world record?! Well, not today.

Smallmouth Bass Falls Short Of Fishing World Record On A Technicality

IGFA certifies all fishing world records and in order to qualify certain criteria must be met. For catch-and-release records, anglers must release the fish alive (he did), all standard local fishing rules apply (they did), and an official IGFA-certified measuring device must be used (it wasn’t).

He measured the world record-sized Smallie using the ‘Working Class Zero’ measuring board he had onboard his boat, but it was not an IGFA-certified measuring device and thus he was not able to apply for the new Smallmouth Bass fishing world record despite the fish being large enough.

Daniel spoke with Travis Hall of Field and Stream, saying “I did all the measurements with a non-IGFA board, even though I had an IGFA-certified measuring board in the boat, because I had no idea the fish was even approaching world-record length. Then I got home and found out the standing record is over an inch smaller.”

That stings. That stings a lot. Having the certified equipment on board but not recognizing it was a potential world record fish and using the IGFA-certified board and releasing the fish only to find out later it was a record, that hurts. I had a similar situation two years ago in Venice, Louisiana where we caught a state record Rainbow Runner but filleted it and ate it before looking up the record which it easily would have cleared. I still think about it a lot.

Catching A World Record On A Homemade Lure

Daniel Caricaburu-Lundin broke down the incredible catch for F&S. He was fishing a ledge where 5-10′ of water drops off to 100′ and large schools of fish sit on the edge of the Idaho lake.

Daniel had recently swapped the hooks on his custom lures for size-4 treble hooks and a fish this size could have easily flattened out the hook with its strength. Smallmouth Bass are amongst the strongest fish around, pound for pound. They also regularly put on an acrobatic show when hooked and jump around trying to toss the hook from its mouth.

He said the fish “jumped out of the water completely, and my rod was just buried. There’s no controlling a smallmouth like that. I backed the drag way down and played it really slow until I could see that it wasn’t fowl hooked. It was just ridiculously big.”

It took some maneuvering to get it to the boat but once he did the hook slipped right out of the fish’s mouth with ease.

Interestingly, there are currently four anglers tied for the IGFA Smallmouth Bass fishing world record at 53cm, with the first set in 2014, another tied in 2020, then 2023 and finally earlier this year in June 2026. The most recent world record-tying fish was caught in Japan.

His Smallmouth Bass would have blown them all away and set a new IGFA fishing world record had he just used the IGFA-certified measuring device in his boat… Brutal.

A couple recently went to buy a brand-new Toyota and somehow ended up stuck on the dealership lot after it closed. Naturally, everyone knows this because they shared a video of the bizarre scene on TikTok.

In the video shared by TikToker @_ana_alcala, it is obviously nighttime, and the exit gate is closed, leaving them and their two vehicles with no way to drive off the car dealer’s lot.

“Why do the most random things ALWAYS happen to me?” she asked in the caption of the video, which she said in the comments happened in Victorville, California.

“We’re locked in,” she can be heard saying to the camera as she shows the locked gate in front of her vehicle. Then as she pans back, showing a second vehicle, presumably the one that they had just purchased from the Toyota dealer, she explains the situation.

“My husband got a car, and they didn’t realize we were still in the parking lot, I guess,” she said. “And they locked us in.”

The strange situation led to a lot of jokes and similar stories

The couple wasn’t entirely confined to the dealership lot, of course. Naturally, they could walk out of the dealership lot and head home. All they would need to do was leave their vehicles at the dealership for the night. However, once they did get home, they would have no cars, and they might be out the cost of an Uber unless someone they knew came to get them.

There have actually been situations in the past where a customer literally got locked inside a business when it closed. So, it could have been much worse. Then again, being without two cars until morning certainly couldn’t have been convenient.

Thankfully, the woman said in the comments that she “dialed a random number” that she “found online and they sent someone” to unlock the gate.

Someone in the comments on the TikTok video said they too got locked in a car dealership lot on a Friday night and had to call their sales guy to come free them. Another person also said the same thing happened to them in 2002.

“You can’t just get a car; you have to pay for it,” another viewer joked.

“Shud of bought a camper,” someone else suggested with a laugh.

“Go back and buy an extended warranty to get out,” read another comical comment.

“I bought a car late last time,” another viewer commented. “I told them ‘don’t lock me in, I’ll pull outside the gate before I start messing with the car features.’ I mean, the staff are tired and probably just wants to go home.”

College football coaches complain about holding approximately every Saturday, but Derek Mason apparently needed a spreadsheet for this one. The Middle Tennessee coach says his staff submitted 17 separate plays it believed should have produced holding flags against Jacksonville State before he used Monday’s press conference to unload on Conference USA officiating as a whole.

Mason had already spoken with CUSA associate commissioner Tre Stallings about the disputed calls following Middle Tennessee’s 23-13 loss. Then he took the complaint public, telling reporters he was “tired of the bullsh—” and that officials needed to “show up and do their damn job,” according to FootballScoop.

Derek Mason Had 17 Plays Ready For The League Office

Seventeen is a hilarious number of possible holding calls to leave one game angry about.

That works out to more than one disputed hold for every four Jacksonville State offensive snaps.

Mason specifically said the clips occurred “at the point of confrontation,” arguing the alleged holds directly affected his defenders’ ability to make plays. He also made clear that his frustration extended beyond Saturday’s crew.

“These referees gotta be better,” Mason said. “That’s a message going out to everybody who refs these damn games. Be better.”

The actual box score does provide some fuel for why a defensive-minded coach might have spent his Sunday going frame-by-frame through the film.

Jacksonville State piled up 517 total yards, including 276 on the ground, while quarterback Caden Creel rushed for 119 himself. The official numbers show the Gamecocks were penalized only three times for 30 yards. Middle Tennessee was flagged seven times for 55.

None of that independently proves Mason’s 17 holding submissions were correct. It does explain why he was still furious two days later.

Conference USA Responded Almost Immediately

If Mason’s goal was getting the league office’s attention, mission accomplished.

Conference USA formally reprimanded him for violating its sportsmanship policy. The league said public criticism of officials is prohibited and that complaints about officiating are supposed to remain between schools and the conference office, per Underdog Dynasty.

No additional fine or penalty was publicly announced.

That creates a pretty funny sequence.

Middle Tennessee sent the league 17 plays questioning the officiating. Mason then held a press conference questioning essentially all of the officiating. Conference USA responded by reprimanding Mason for publicly questioning the officiating.

Everybody appears to have received the message.

Mason also insisted he was not blaming the entire 10-point loss on referees. Jacksonville State scored 13 unanswered points after Middle Tennessee took a 13-10 third-quarter lead, while the Blue Raiders were shut out over the final 25 minutes.

Still, there is normal coach-speak after a loss, and then there is submitting 17 alleged missed holds before declaring war on college football officiating.

California is home to around 50 different types of snakes, including a handful of venomous species. However, that does not include the Gaboon viper, and one man has landed in hot water after riling up people with an A.I.-generated picture that made it look like one was on the loose in Santa Ana.

There was once a time when you had to be proficient in the art of Photoshop or have a solid handle on video editing software if you wanted to pull off a convincing internet hoax. However, it’s now easier than ever for a layman to dupe the masses thanks to artificial intellgience.

There’s currently no shortage of platforms that are capable of pumping out increasingly convincing pictures and videos based on nothing but a written prompt. Many of them still feature telltale signs of A.I., but as someone who’s spent well over a decade sniffing out content of questionable origin on the internet, I’ve learned you really need to stay on your toes these days if you want to avoid being tricked.

Those fake creations also have the potential to cause some repercussions in the real world, which was the case with a hoax that could lead to one man ending up in jail in California.

There are upwards of 50 unique species of snakes in California, including seven different types of rattlesnakes that are the only venomous reptiles you really need to worry about encountering (at least when you’re on dry land).

However, it appeared that an unexpected visitor had popped up in a neighborhood in Santa Ana earlier this week in the form of a Gaboon viper, a highly venomous snake that’s native to Southeast Asia and has a bite that can be potentially fatal (although they rarely go out of their way to attack people).

Residents in a neighborhood in the vicinity of Main Street and Edinger Avenue were put on high alert after the picture was shared by a man named  Joel Ciprian, who called the police on Monday, September 28th shortly after taking a photo that quickly made the rounds.

According to CBS News, some people were skeptical the picture was authentic. However, the Santa Ana Police Department asserted it was real after running it through an ” A.I. detection system” (specifically Grok), and Ciprian responded to claims of a possible hoax by saying, “I wish it was AI. It’s in my backyard, and it’s scary.”

About that…

On Tuesday, that same outlet reported Ciprian eventually admitted he made the entire thing up after turning to A.I. to generate the image, and he is now facing criminal charges for falsifying a police report.

The district attorney will ultimately be responsible for deciding which (if any) charges to pursue, but it would appear to be a misdemeanor that can be punished by up to six months in jail and a fine that’s capped at $1,000.

The Yorba Linda Mustangs got off to a 4-1 start in their 2026 season. Now, the California high school football program is staring at an 0-5 record.

The Mustangs will forfeit their four wins after a ruling from the California Interscholastic Federation’s Southern Section. The decision comes as a result of an investigation into mysterious eligibility violations.

The findings of that probe have been made public, but the exact nature of the crimes remains somewhat unclear. The forfeitures put the team’s playoff pursuits in serious doubt.

Yorba Linda competes in the Alpha League of Division 2 in the CIF-SS. The school is located in Orange County, about 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.

The Mustangs have been one of the area’s strongest high school football teams over the last decade. They’re currently rated as a Top 25 program in California.

Yorba Linda is 97-23 across the last 10 seasons. Former head coach Jeff Bailey resigned at the conclusion of the 2025 campaign after leading the program to a pair of state titles.

His successor, John Domen, has run into immediate issues in his debut season.

An investigation into player eligibility has been underway. The findings will have direct impacts on Domen’s push to the postseason.

Yorba Linda has been forced to forfeit all four of its wins. The details of the ruling are still unclear.

What did Yorba Linda do?

According to the OC Register, the team violated eligibility guidelines. More specifically, it broke rules 503B(1) and 510.

Bylaw 510 covers “undue influence, pre-enrollment contact, disclosing pre-enrollment contact and athletically motivated transfers.”

Bylaw 503 B (1) addresses administrative oversight, ineligible athletes and penalties.

That would seemingly refer to an illegal and athletically motivated transfer. It is believed to involve more than one player. Those team members have not been named.

I do not know if the transgressions involved faulty transfer paperwork, illegal recruitment, or a combination of both. Regardless, the Mustangs are now 0-5.

To be eligible for an at-large berth to the playoffs, teams must have at least a .300 winning percentage or three wins, according to a rule change approved in the offseason.

Yorba Linda had already eclipsed that mark prior to the forfeitures. They’ll now have to win at least three of their final five contests to be eligible for an at-large berth to the postseason.

Carroll High School in Louisiana had its football season suspended for the remainder of 2026. An ugly brawl erupted after a game against Assumption last Friday.

The fight involved both players and fans. Each team will be penalized. Carroll was hit the hardest by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.

The Bulldogs will not play another game this year. The season will officially end with a 14-6 loss to the Mustangs.

The Bulldogs travelled to Napoleonville last week to face the Mustangs in a non-league matchup. The two schools are separated by about 250 miles.

Carroll competes at the 3A level in District 1. It’s been a .500 ball club over the last decade or so, going 57-55 dating back to 2015.

Assumption plays in 4A as part of District 8. They’ve experienced a bit more success, going 61-50 over the last 10 years with a pair of 10-win seasons.

Friday night’s high school football contest was competitive. The Mustangs won by a touchdown. Tensions boiled over at the end of the outing.

The game was actually called early due to unsportsmanlike conduct. Three players were ejected in the first half. Referees called the game in the fourth quarter and deputies were called to the field for precautions.

It was then that the brawl broke out on the sidelines.

Instead of going to the visitor’s locker room, about two dozen Carroll players rushed towards game spectators and started fighting Assumption fans.

Carroll High School’s football season is over.

The LHSAA has suspended the team for the remainder of the year. It released that decision after a three-hour meeting by the sportsmanship committee on Wednesday.

Carroll will not play another game. The Bulldogs are not eligible for the postseason.

The ruling ends Carroll’s season at 2-2. Details of the punishment have been made public.

The LHSAA has suspended Carroll’s football program for the rest of the 2026 high school football season, forcing the program to forfeit their remaining games and holding them on the hook for making up away games for the 2027 season. If the games are not played, per a letter sent to the school, the Bulldogs would be required to pay teams an amount, anywhere ranging from $5,000 to $1,000 depending on the classification of the team losing the home contest.

Assumption was also hit with sanctions. It will not host another home game in 2026. The school was fined $500.

The ugly scene has had major implications on the 2026 season. For now, the Carroll Bulldogs are barred from playing another game. The program will appeal the LHSAA decision.

Naming a new professional sports team should probably involve more research than naming a fantasy football team, and Atlanta City FC apparently took that responsibility extremely seriously. The new NWSL franchise talked to thousands of people—including Atlanta’s mayor—before revealing its identity, which makes considerably more sense when two recent expansion teams had to throw their original names in the trash before playing a game.

Atlanta unveiled its name, phoenix crest and red-and-peach color scheme Monday ahead of a 2028 debut at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Chief business officer Deandra Duggans told Front Office Sports that the club specifically studied recent expansion launches and consulted season-ticket deposit holders, women’s sports fans, Atlanta sports fans, influencers, and Mayor Andre Dickens because it wanted to avoid those same “shortcomings.”

Atlanta Apparently Decided Focus Groups Were Cheaper Than A Rebrand

The caution has some pretty obvious historical precedent.

Louisville initially planned to enter the league as Proof Louisville FC, a bourbon reference that immediately generated enough negative reaction for ownership to reconsider. By the time the franchise actually reached the field in 2021, Sports Illustrated was introducing it as Racing Louisville FC.

Boston somehow managed an even more spectacular version.

Its 2024 launch unveiled BOS Nation FC, an anagram of “Bostonian,” alongside a marketing campaign built around the slogan “Too Many Balls.”

People did not love that.

The organization apologized almost immediately and eventually scrapped the entire name. Reuters reported that the franchise emerged five months later as Boston Legacy FC following another giant round of surveys, listening sessions, and community research.

Atlanta understandably decided asking a few extra questions beforehand might be useful.

Even The Logo Got The Committee Treatment

The resulting name is intentionally straightforward.

“Atlanta City FC” gave the organization room to incorporate the different themes people said they wanted represented, while the crest does most of the storytelling. The club’s reveal features a phoenix tied to Atlanta’s history of rebuilding, a dogwood blossom, and colors officially called Atlanta Red and Georgia Peach.

There are worse strategies than making sure the people who might eventually buy your merchandise do not hate the thing printed across it.

Arthur Blank paid a $165 million expansion fee to bring the NWSL to Atlanta, and the organization is also building a dedicated training facility before the club’s 2028 launch. Spending that kind of money only to discover Twitter despises the name would be a fairly avoidable own goal.

Atlanta could still learn that thousands of opinions do not guarantee everyone loves the final result. Sports fans are uniquely gifted at complaining about logos.

But at least Atlanta City FC has attempted something recent NWSL history suggests is surprisingly important.

Ask people whether the name is terrible before printing it on everything.

South Park didn’t wait long into its 29th season to mock President Trump, as this week’s episode featured the deepfake model of the President that was featured in the show last year.

The Wednesday, September 30 episode — “Billionaire Weenietown,” the second of Season 29 — follows Butters as he discovers a hidden town in the Stotches’ backyard where tiny penis-shaped billionaires are running data centers that are sapping South Park of its electricity.

Season 29 of South Park has also featured the running gag of having the town changed to “South America” to reflect Trump’s obsession, with remaining landmarks like the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario. Everyone in the series now calls the town “South America,” but it has not actually been acknowledged within the plot of the series.

At one point, an exterminator says the billionaires “like to go on podcasts and get into public arguments with Mark Ruffalo.”

The weenies also buy up local news outlets, and the town’s news station only cares once the outages threaten residents’ ability to play Grand Theft Auto VI when it comes out in November.

Butters eventually vacuums up the problem billionaires and moves them out, though the rest just relocate to another neighborhood.

Later in the episode, a deepfake version of Trump visits a public bathroom stall, and his detached penis flies away, which is a reference to Trump’s recent Truth Social post pushing back on AI guardrails.

The scene shows Trump walking into the bathroom while audio of his controversial taxpayer-funded midterm campaign ad plays in the background. As the real ad’s audio concludes, South Park’s version of Trump takes over the soundtrack with a loud bowel movement. Trump’s tiny Johnson then starts singing about how much money Trump has, before launching off of Trump like a rocket ship.

“The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT,” Trump wrote on his social media app.

Giving up your seat on a flight can be a huge sacrifice. But if you play your cards right, airlines like Delta are sometimes prepared to pay you handsomely for it. And these offers to take later flights are sometimes negotiable, Maxwell Cohen recently discovered.

TikTok user Maxwell Cohen (@maxcohennn) decided to shoot for the moon. And to the surprise of everyone, that risk paid off.

In the video, which has garnered 22,800 views, Cohen speaks to viewers from the airport. He says it is 6am and that his original flight takes off at 7am. However, while waiting, he says Delta made an announcement about paying people to change flights. The next flight, he said, was around 8 or 9am—but he wasn’t willing to do it for the $300 offered.

With nobody volunteering, he says Delta made another announcement. He says the reward went up to $500.

“So it comes to my head, and I’m like, “I wonder if I can negotiate,”” Cohen says. “So I go up to the counter, I’m like, “Is there any room for negotiation?” And the man starts laughing.”

Undeterred, Cohen says he made it clear he was being “dead serious” and offered to change his flight for $1,300. The worker didn’t commit at first. But after 20 more minutes passed with no other volunteers, he says Delta actually accepted his offer. “Thanks, Delta,” Cohen concludes.

Is It Worth It To Take A Later Flight?

Commenters shared their own sweet deals from airlines.

“OMG this happened to me for $1000 it was such a lucky day,” one wrote.

“I got $2,500 and a first class ticket on the next flight,” a second said. “Don’t underestimate how much they’ll give you.”

“My husband and I did this for the first time a couple years ago- easy $1800,” a third added. “We told ourselves we will do this any time it is offered in the future.”

And a fourth shared, “United paid my daughter $2000 and it’s happened more than once.”

The Offer To Take A Later Flight—It’s More Common Than You Think

It’s more common than you think for airlines like Delta to offer incentives for passengers to change their flight last minute.

In the past, BroBible has also reported on Delta passengers being offered as much as $10,000 for passengers to give up their seats. More recently, earlier in the month, Ashley Weil (@theashleyweil) shared footage of Delta workers trying to entice people to leave the plane with gift cards. “Whether you want Amex, Mastercard, Visa, Amazon, Whole Foods,” the worker said over the intercom. “You name it, we got it. $2,500 [in] a gift card of your choice.”

In a statement to BroBible at the time, Delta said, “In the rare event of an oversold flight, we empower our people to provide compelling compensation to customers willing to take a later flight. Our priority is always to care for our customers while ensuring an on-time departure.”

As pointed out on the Department of Transportation website, the practice of “bumping” involves denying passengers boarding when the plane is overbooked. Bear in mind, airlines often overbook to make more money.” While airlines can force passengers to leave with no incentive, they’re generally required to “seek out people who are willing to give up their seats for compensation before bumping anyone involuntarily.”

Can You Negotiate Delta’s Offer To Take Later Flight?

These offers are sometimes negotiable, too. One Redditor, in a post about this very subject, suggested going about the negotiation process like this: “Say you’re interested if they have a better offer and leave it open ended on them.”

The author of Andy’s Travel Blog also revealed how he successfully negotiated Delta’s offer of $700 to a whopping 30 volunteers. “Thirty volunteers is a LOT. I was worried they would have to involuntarily move people and figured I’d be first in line if they did. I did some math in my head and approached the gate agent, telling her I’d move to a flight a day later for $1500 and a hotel. She needed to ask around but eventually said absolutely!” Andy penned.

Last week’s happy hour at Neyland Stadium was a success, and the school is bringing it back.

Ahead of last week’s game vs. Texas, Tennessee opened its doors three hours early and offered half off drinks for the first hour to encourage fans to beat the security nightmare caused by President Trump’s arrival.

The happy hour was so well received that Tennessee Athletic Director Danny White announced the school will implement it for the entire 2026 season.

“Should we make it a thing? Feels like we should make it a thing,” White said via X. “Inspired by Vol Nation’s incredible response to unusual pregame circumstances last week, Happy Hour at Neyland Stadium will be in effect for the remainder of the season! Gates will open three hours early, with half-priced concessions available for the first hour. I hope this is a small way we can show our appreciation to the best fans in the country. See y’all Saturday!”

Tennessee will host Auburn on Saturday at Neyland Stadium and will be allowed into Neyland Stadium at 12:30 p.m. for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff, and half-priced concessions (including alcohol) will be available until 1:30 p.m.

If you’ve spent any time on social media lately, you’ll know that the horse girls are ascendant. From mustang rescue to dressage, the stories of the deep connection that horse people have to their animals are everywhere. So it’s pretty natural that horse owners seeking a more meaningful connection with their steeds would turn to “animal communicators.”

In a TikTok slideshow celebrating her return to riding post-brain surgery, Taylor credits her horse, Nemo, with first identifying something wrong with her brain. It was a “Chiari malformation.”

The Mayo Clinic explains it as “a condition in which tissue from the lower part of the brain, called the cerebellum, goes into the spinal canal. It happens when the skull is shaped in a way that is not typical or when the skull is smaller than usual.”

In earlier posts, Taylor complained of anxiety, which is consistent with the malformation in the brain. But now that her sutures are out, and she’s had three weeks of recovery, she’s ready to get back in the saddle. She’s added in-video text to her post, “In less than three weeks I am back to riding him and I no longer feel at war with my body.”

What Is An Animal Communicator?

She is able to ride in comfort and without managing anxiety is because of events that began when she bought a new farm and moved her horses there. She says that with the move, her horse Nemo was upset and acting out.

“He was fine outside, but the second I brought him in the barn, he became very violent, and it was really out of character. So I called the animal communicator,” she says. For context, she’s worked with the animal communicator before. Animal communicators are people who purport to communicate with animals via body language, emotions, and even a psychic connection. The wild part? Many animal lovers such as Taylor (@foxhallfarm) say it works.

During the session with the communicator, Taylor says that Nemo kept saying, “brain, brain do this to me. Brain underwater, brain squish, brain pressure.” As a former veterinary technician, she was worried he had a brain tumor. But according to her, he meant her brain. She put it together because she’d been having symptoms, and so the communicator asked him if he meant Taylor.

He purportedly replied, “Mom brain, mom brain no good.”

Then, she says she ran to her doctor because she’s been dismissed by doctors all her life. She’s been told to go to therapy. But this time she was “able to score an MRI.” Doctors detected the anomaly, and she had brain surgery to correct it.

‘Does Your Horse Do Telehealth?’

The idea that some animals can detect illness is not new. Dogs that alert when a person is about to experience an oncoming medical change, often from a chronic or complex condition, are a part of medical care. Is it such a stretch to believe that other animals might be able to detect an illness?

According to the internet, the answer is no. But the results aren’t always life changing: “My cat told the animal communicator she’d ‘try her best’ to be nicer to our friends and not bite them,” said Kourt (@kourtnet).

Animals, especially dogs, can be trained to detect illness or other problems in a person, and that typically takes a year. “Seizure-sensing dogs look for subtle smells and changes in features of their owners (such as dilated pupils),” explains How Things Work. A Virginia woman took a bite of her chicken nugget from Wendy’s, only to discover something baked inside that would put many customers off the popular item for life: an insect.

​Brina (@brinnaaab) posted a video that received more than 1.5 million views.

In her video, Brina says very few words. She lets the fly, which appeared to be fried into the chicken nugget she bit into, do the talking.

​Her video revealed a few things, however. Brina received a four-piece chicken nuggets order from a Wendy’s in Chesapeake, Virginia, through Uber Eats.

She says that she already ate two entire chicken nuggets. And as she wrote in the description, the entire situation grossed her out.

​“I’m literally sick,” she said.

How Did The Fly Get In The Wendy’s Nugget?

In the comments section, viewers shared similar disgust and overall concern.

​One commenter said, “I would have died right there on the spot.”

​“The way I would drive straight through that mf Wendy’s,” another viewer said.

​Other commenters, however, didn’t believe the fly ended up in her order accidentally.

​“Why you put that fly in that nugget?” one commenter asked.

​“How did it get inside the nugget, and it’s still moving after being frozen for a month and then deep-fried? Yeah, right…” another viewer said.

​Multiple people claimed the fly was still moving, but Brina said it wasn’t.

“Y’all, I did not put the fly inside the nugget; that’s crazy as hell lmaoo,” she said. “Also, it isn’t moving; it’s my hands shaking lmao. As soon as I bit into it, I saw the fly. It was fried that way.”

An employee from the location Brina received her food from, who discussed the situation with BroBible, said, “That is honestly extremely disgusting and disturbing … We as a franchise [will] do our best to avoid that happening in the future by taking more safety precautions, such as checking the product before it is dropped and making sure that the bags in the freezer are secure and closed properly to avoid this happening.”

​Other Incidents With Unwelcome Insects

While many viewers had doubts about Brina’s story, similar situations have happened to other customers who dined with other franchises. A Philadelphia woman, for instance, found a “family” of flies inside a salad from Chick-fil-A.

​Separately, another woman found a moth inside a salad, which was also from Chick-fil-A. Then, there was one Panera Bread customer who found a stink bug inside a salad from the fast-casual dining chain.

​It’s unclear how the bug ended up in Brina’s meal. Wendy’s allegedly par-cooks its semi-famous nuggets, so it likely would have had to be frozen and then fried. But finding a bug fried into a chicken nugget is a whole new level of gross, regardless of how it got there.

Rice is the base of many Chipotle meals. It’s usually the first thing customers point to when loading up their bowls, burritos, and tacos. One woman shocked Chipotle customers by doing something unheard of—she not only asked for “fresh rice,” but she also customized it.

In her clip, West Coast TikToker Moya (@bigmama9kidss) stands behind the rice station at Chipotle. She films a male employee as he prepares two bowls. “I want rice from back there. I want fresh white, no green,” she tells a male employee. “Both of them.”

The workers oblige her demands.

“So, I always get plain white rice when I order my Chipotle bowl,” she says. “I like for my rice to be real fresh.”

When a worker returns with the bowls, she asks, “Can I get extra rice on both, please? Thank you.”

The rest of her bowls consist of pinto beans, extra chicken, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, and queso.

Moya rounds off her transaction with two large bags of the new Chili Lime tortilla chips.

Is Chipotle’s Plain Rice More ‘Fresh’?

Moya’s video amassed over 553,000 views, and many argued that her method doesn’t guarantee freshness.

“The ‘fresh’ rice you’re getting has been sitting in a hotbox for hours,” the top comment, with 10,000 likes, says.

“Rice is from the same big batch. They just haven’t mixed the cilantro and brought it upfront yet. It’s been sitting in the back as long as it has in the front,” a second stated.

“Chipotle worker here. Just because you ask for plain rice doesn’t mean it’s fresh. It’s just been sitting in a warmer for possibly hours,” a third echoed.

Because of the criticism, Moya corrected herself in the comments section, claiming she meant plain rice, not fresh. “Oh my gosh, I don’t like the green stuff. Goodness is not a big deal. Everybody’s taste buds are different. I said fresh instead of [plain] white rice,” she clarified.

Others were caught up on how Moya spoke to the workers.

“‘I want’ – is not polite,” one said.

“So where’s the please/thank you?” another questioned.

Can You Customize The Chipotle Rice?

It’s a little-known fact that customers can get plain rice at Chipotle. A former Chipotle worker told Business Insider that while it can be done, it may take some time.

It’s unnecessary to ask for your rice “fresh,” as Chipotle rice, by default, is fresh.

When Chipotle first opened in 1993, a top priority was serving fresh ingredients. The company prides itself on not using “freezers, can openers or shortcuts,” which seems to apply to its rice. Each location prepares these grains in-house every morning. According to the Mexican Grill’s website, the rice is steamed (or, for brown rice, simmered) with bay leaves, seasoned with lime and lemon juice, and tossed with cilantro to give it the signature flavor.

If you’re not a fan of cilantro, you can politely request rice without it.

A slow-speed chase led Wyoming police officers through a golf course after a man tried to run down a golf pro at the Cheyenne Country Club.

A Colorado man was arrested Monday evening after Cheyenne Police officers were dispatched at approximately 5 p.m. to a report of a truck driving on a golf course.

Lead assistant golf pro Branden Burbank is still perplexed as to why the driver of the blue GMC truck wanted to destroy the Cheyenne Country Club golf course and attempt to run him down in the process.

“I saw him driving around the parking lot, going over by the clubhouse, then he hopped the curb and made a hard right onto the golf course,” Burbank, who has a background in law enforcement, told Cowboy State Daily on Wednesday.

“I tried to stop him, to put my car in his path, because people were on the course at that time. Then when he saw me, he revved up at me and made a run for me.”

The man took the police on a slow-speed chase before stopping

According to a Cheyenne Police Department news release, a blue GMC Sierra sped through a fence and exited the golf course as police arrived. Officers tried to pull over the driver, who was later identified as being from Lakewood, Colorado, but he refused to stop and kept driving slowly.

Officers following the truck said he drove carelessly, occasionally running red lights and driving on the wrong side of the road.

The man eventually stopped the vehicle himself, ending the chase, but he did not go to jail quietly.

“He continued to actively resist and struggle with authorities until he was put into custody,” according to a police statement.

One witness to the police chase estimated at least five police vehicles were following, with several others trailing on surrounding blocks, but the man in the truck “was moving maybe 15-20 mph.” Another witness said, “There was no speed about it, really.”

Burbank said the man “drove through a bunker, over multiple greens, then tried to go through a gate, but didn’t get through it.” The golf course had to be closed for “about a day and a half,” he said.

“I have no clue what set him off, but all I was thinking was he wanted to hit me, do some damage, for sure,” Burbank said. “And, he just had kind of a blank stare on his face. He didn’t seem upset or anything, just blank.”

Agent Drew Rosenhaus gave a timeline for the expected comeback earlier this month. He anticipates that Hill will be ready to roll in mid-October.

“His doctors have recommended he postpone his comeback until perhaps sometime in October,” Rosenhaus said on the Pat McAfee Show. “We’re playing it on the safe side. We’re not in a rush. We just want him to be completely healthy.”

Rosenhaus sent clips of the NFL star running routes and working out to a few different franchises. He says that teams are interested.

Hill has been one of the league’s most dynamic weapons throughout his 10-year pro career. He racked up four 1,000-yard seasons in Kansas City before signing a mega-deal with Miami in 2022.

Over the last decade, Hill has totaled 11,363 yards and 83 touchdowns. He led the NFL in both categories in 2023. Two years later, he is team-less. That shouldn’t be the case much longer.

The wideout is ready to come back.

Over the weekend, he posted a message on X referencing his recovery. He insinuated that his return would come soon.

The Chiefs are 3-0 this year. They are hungry to return to the postseason after missing the playoffs in 2025. That came after three straight Super Bowl appearances.
