Through four games of the 2026 NBA Finals, New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby has been nothing short of incredible.

Anunoby, who won a championship in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors, is averaging 23.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game, and made the play of the series thus far with his game-winning putback in Game 4.

But despite all that, Knicks legend and New York City native Carmelo Anthony doesn’t think that Anunoby is worthy of winning the NBA Finals MVP Award.

Anthony recently sat down with Rasheed Wallace, Monica McNutt, and Kazeem Famuyide to discuss Game 4 on his “7PM in Brooklyn” podcast.

During part of the episode, McNutt asked which Knicks played the current leader in the clubhouse to win the NBA Finals MVP if the Knicks were to hold on and win the series.

Both Anthony and Wallace said that it is Jalen Brunson, not Anunoby, who deserves the award.

“OG has been the most steady, consistent guy in these,” Anthony said. “Forget the tip-in, that stop on Fox was amazing. So now you put all of that together … But let’s just be honest about this, it’s JB. If OG win it, it be like Andre Iguodala’s at Golden State.”

Iguodala famously won the 2015 NBA Finals MVP over Steph Curry while averaging 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

Meanwhile, Brunson is also having a strong series. The Knicks superstar is averaging 29.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. However, he’s struggled with his shooting from the field in the series, and had it not been for Anunoby, New York could easily find itself down 3-1 in the series rather than up 3-1.

Ultimately, both have a strong argument, as does Karl-Anthony Towns. But it feels like Anthony took an unnecessary shot at Anunoby by downplaying his impact.

The Pentagon released its third batch of declassified UFO files on Friday. In them, law enforcement and other government officials repeatedly detail seeing mysterious orbs moving across the sky.

The reports of orb-like UFOs follow a previously declassified report in which a senior U.S. intelligence officer reported seeing “two large orbs flare up” next to their helicopter during a mission. The officer described those orbs as “orange with a white or yellow center, and emitted light in all directions.”

They also add to the pattern of orbs that a NASA group formed to study UFOs reported back in 2023, when they noted a large number of unexplained metallic orbs spotted at high altitudes around the world.

Mysterious orbs continue to be among the most-witnessed types of UFOs

According to the latest declassified Pentagon UFO files, at least five law enforcement agents in the western United States reported seeing strange lights over the course of two days in October 2023, close to a “sensitive national security site.” Separate witnesses reported seeing a bright orange “mother orb” that appeared to produce “smaller red orbs” over several hours.

The sightings started with “weird lights moving along in groups miles away,” according to one agent.” Red lights “accelerated instantly and maneuvered with perfect, smooth coordination into a horizontal formation,” according to another witness.

Witness 4 reported seeing smaller orbs “hatch from the larger very bright orange light” several times, losing count “after five occurrences.” According to Witness 3, the orbs resembled “grapes being expelled from a basketball,” and their partner asking, “Are you seeing this?”

Federal employees have ruled out the possibility that someone mistakenly identified the orbs as exhaust from military aircraft. They also consider it unlikely that unmanned aerial vehicles, foreign intelligence activity, or a meteorological phenomenon caused the orbs.

In another encounter that happened in July 2025, “witnesses described the orbs’ motion as silent and smooth, and as moving in tandem as though they were flying in formation or tethered together.”

Another encounter from October 2024 which occurred within 25 miles of the July 2025 UFO sighting, showed “a light source below the horizon, hovering above a pond at an estimated distance of 2,700 feet” in a video titled “Orbs Over the Pond,”

“The luminous object resembled a ‘plasma-like sphere’ intermittently changing shape and luminosity. At times, the primary light source appeared to separate into smaller luminous points,” the Pentagon report stated. “A luminous point below the primary source hovered just above the water and did not appear consistent with a surface reflection. The object remained generally stationary for approximately 45 minutes before disappearing.”

A potato-shaped UFO confounded a US Army intelligence officer

Also released in the new batch of files is a 2024 FBI document in which a former U.S. Army intelligence officer and four members of his unit witnessed a UFO over the Cheyenne Mountains in Colorado. They described it as a potato-shaped, somewhat translucent, slightly shimmering object. The officer also observed that it appeared to have been painted opalescent white, and there was no shadow.

“The object was made up of what can best be described as articulating fish scales or panels that were non-symmetrical, non-overlapping, and irregular shaped,” the report states. “The object itself was perfectly still but each panel on the object shifted in slow waves starting at different points of origin but at the same time.”

The object reportedly “vanished” after about two minutes, having “cloaked” in the time it took to turn a head.

Then there’s Alexi Lalas who talks over them and takes the traditional American approach to analysis of attacking player’s character and effort in lieu of the tiniest iota of focus on tactics and analytics.

In the days leading up to the World Cup, senior writer at The Athletic, Andrew Marchand, published this scathing take down of Alexi Lalas’ camera presence and likened him to the “Skip Bayless of Soccer.” Marchande likens him to Skip Bayless while mentioning Charles Barkley but Alexi Lalas really isn’t in the conversation with either of those two in terms of success or on-camera presence. At least Chuck and Skip bring in viewers!

The replies to that post aren’t kind either. Many said that Alexi would be lucky to be considered Skip Bayless because Skip at least is funny on occasion whereas Lalas is a hater through and through. He fills his cup with haterade and drinks it full before every match. This could spell doom for Fox according to Andrew Marchand who wrote “Lalas has failed on likeability, which could make the dynamic with Ibrahimović’ and Henry intriguing or combustible.”

So how did Day 1 of Fox Sports’ World Cup coverage go? Just go type “Alexi Lalas” into the search bar on X or Threads. The reviews are not kind. People are sick of his pessimism. Case in point:

Every take is ‘do or die’ and nothing lives up to his standards. But why exactly should we care about his standards? The Masked Singer contestant never led the USMNT to the promise land. He has never provided impactful mentorship, tutelage, or managerial skills that improved the team in any tangible way. He is a fiery embodiment of ‘haterade’ that Fox Sports continues to roll out to the chagrin of views.

Give us more Brian McBride and Landon Donovan. Heck, give us a panel of Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, and other USWNT players who have actually won the World Cup and know what it takes. Fox Sports should by now be able to see the viewers’ reactions to Alexi Lalas. Now, what will be interesting, is how international ‘football’ fans will react to Alexi Lalas’ commentary as they are in America for the World Cup and see what we have to deal with compared to the BBC’s panel.

What a freaking week. Summer is officially, 100% here. I’m so hyped the World Cup is finally here. My highlight was snagging a spot to the media preview of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizzeria in Santa Monica, which is now in soft open and officially opens on Saturday 6/20. As a  such a fun concept, and the team that did the build out absolutely crushed it the entire experience (you truly feel like you’re in the Sewer) and the pizza itself is really tasty. It’s a tubular ‘za experience if you’re in Los Angeles.

Timothée Chalamet has been on what many people have referred to as a “generational run” in recent years, and the vibes have remained pretty immaculate as he’s been front and center as the Knicks close in on an NBA championship. However, he found himself dealing with plenty of backlash after dropping some ads for a prediction market on the eve of a potentially title-clinching game.

It’s been close to a decade since Timothée Chalamet burst onto the scene, as 2017 was a big year for a man who had a supporting role in Lady Bird and earned his first Academy Award nomination for Call Me By Your Name.

He cemented himself as one of Hollywood’s hottest rising stars when he was cast as Paul Atreides in the Dune franchise, and he was once again nominated for Best Actor for his performance in 2025’s Marty Supreme. 

He rubbed some people the wrong way during a press tour for that second film where he walked a very fine line between cocky and confident, but they were in the minority compared to the number of stans he’s managed to gain goodwill with by coming off as a pretty relatable dude in spite of his fame and fortune.

He’s cemented that reputation as one of the high-profile superfans who’ve been courtside staples as the Knicks made a run to their first NBA title since 1973. However, he committed a bit of an unforced error right before Game 5.

Most sports fans were already sick and tired of the ads for the sportbooks that have become impossible to avoid thanks to the rise of legal gambling, and over the past couple of years, we’ve been treated to a new type of way to make (and lose) money thanks to the so-called “prediction markets” that have also entered the space.

The Knicks will have the chance to close out their series with the Spurs on Friday night, but if they end up collapsing, it seems safe to assume plenty of people will blame those ads for putting some bad energy out into the universe.

Jenica Matos and Vivian Knott combined for one of the most impressive pitching performances in high school softball history. All it took was one single run for Cheshire to advance to the Connecticut Class LL state championship game with a win over Darien.

Both aces were absolutely dominant in the circle.

These two high school softball pitchers carried their teams deep into extra innings. And then the losing coach made the surprising decision to go to the bullpen.

Cheshire defeated Darien in the Connecticut high school softball semifinal.

Cheshire High School was founded in 1945. It enrolls approximately 1,300 students in Grades 9-12. The Rams won their first state championship in high school softball during their first-ever unbeaten season in 2016. They won the title again in 2025.

Darien High School was establishing in 1927. It enrolls approximately 1,400 students in Grades 9-12. The Blue Wavehas never won a state championship in high school softball. Conference titles, yes. State titles, no.

These two programs met in semifinal round of the Class LL playoffs. Cheshire was undefeated. Darien had three losses.

The game was an instant classic. Neither team scored a run through the first seven innings. On to extras!

The scoreless tie held strong through the eighth, ninth, 10th and 11th innings. The Rams finally broke it open in the bottom of the 12th inning to punch their ticket to the state championship game on a walk-off single through the gap on the right side.

Cheshire will look to stay undefeated and defend its title during the best-of-three game series against Southington this weekend. Darien saw its season come to an end after a 12-inning thriller.

The starting pitchers combined for a ridiculous amount of strikeouts.

Jenica Matos was in the circle for the Rams. She is committed to play for St. John’s University.

Vivian Knott was in the circle for the Blue Wave. She is committed to play for Stanford University.

It was an epic pitcher’s duel between two of the top aces in the state. Both teams rode their respective arms deep into the playoffs. They put on a masterclass during the semifinal. Neither Matos nor Knott allowed a single run.

Matos and Knott allowed only three combined hits during the first seven innings. They combined for 28 strikeouts. Approximately two thirds of the first 42 outs were strikeouts. That’s astonishing.

And they did not stop there! Knott added eight more strikeouts for a total of 23 before she was pulled in the 11th inning. Matos pitched a complete game with 26 total strikeouts. She did allowed only one additional hit during extra innings.

If that is not impressive enough, Matos is legally blind. She has a rare genetic disorder called Stargardt disease. That doesn’t stop her from dominating. Opposing hitters fear her in the box.

Cheshire and Darien’s starting pitchers combined for 49 strikeouts in 22 combined innings. The Rams proved victorious.

It begs the question of why the Blue Wave went to the bullpen. Knott was dealing. Why make a change?!

Oregon resident Khanh Tran purchased a 1.2-acre lot in southeast Portland with the intention of cleaning up the property and doing some construction on it.

When he bought it in February, he knew there was a pile of about 40 tires on it that he would have to discard. When he returned to visit the site in March, nothing had changed in that regard.

However, when he returned to the property on June 6, ready to begin construction, there was a significant change: hundreds of tires had mysteriously appeared on his property.

The majority of the property was inaccessible when he arrived in June due to tire walls that were at least six feet high. Plus, at least one person was living on the land without authorization. Someone even constructed a makeshift room with a table and chairs by stacking tires near one of the property’s entrances.

“The reason I wanted to buy this property, I think it’s in a beautiful location,” Tran told KATU News. “I didn’t know the disaster that was going to come with it.”

Tran’s neighbor, Heather Harmon, says she has never seen anyone dumping the tires on the property, but she is definitely concerned about it.

“I don’t know if they’re doing it overnight, or while I’m at work. I never see anybody over there,” Harmon said. “I’m worried about something catching on fire and spreading across into my yard and my property.”

Several government agencies have gotten involved, but none of them will remove the tires

Numerous agencies, including the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, county health officials, and Metro, the regional government organization responsible for waste management, have launched investigations due to the amount of tire dumping on the property.

“The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office treats public safety and environmental hazards with the utmost seriousness,” an MCSO spokesperson said in a statement. “The accumulation of waste tires presents a fire hazard and could violate Oregon’s waste tire regulations.”

“Illegally dumped tires are a growing issue,” said a Metro spokesperson. “Over the past year, (Metro) RID Patrol crews have picked up more than 14,000 tires from public property in greater Portland – 5,600 of those in May alone. Metro is working with law enforcement to ensure those who dump their waste in public spaces are held accountable for their actions.”

He had to start a GoFundMe to help with the cost of removing all of the tires

Metro’s trash removal service, the RID Patrol, said it cannot remove items from private property. A Multnomah County spokesperson told KATU News that “the County does not have resources currently to clear the property.”

“I’m reaching out for help because we can’t do this on our own,” Tran wrote on his GoFundMe page. “The funds raised will be used to restore the environmental damage caused by the tires, cover the costs of safe removal and disposal, and rebuild the green space that our community depends on. Your support will help us make our property safe again and bring back a healthy environment for everyone.”

When a restaurant diner posted about her steak, she probably expected viewers to focus on that. However, most of them seemed to be distracted by one key thing—how she holds her silverware.

Whether it be silverware placement or holding your pinky up, table manners can be a minefield. And sadly, it looks like TikToker Kennedy Leo (@kennedy.leo_) learned that the hard way.

The viral clip, which has garnered 972,600 views, consists of Leo cutting into her steak, with her knife in her left hand and her fork in her right. The steak is a deep purplish red in the middle.

The video is set to a viral Wendy Williams sound, while on-screen text reads, “Taking myself out to a nice dinner and cutting into my ‘medium’ steak lol.”

What Did Commenters Say?

In the comments, nobody seemed interested in the steak. Instead, users couldn’t get over the way Kennedy held her silverware.

“You’re holding your silverware like an American,” one wrote.

“At this point I am so confused, someone please help me,” a second requested. “Do Americans genuinely not know how to hold a fork properly, or are you just trolling us all now?”

The World Cup is having a match in Miami on June 24, but if you’re attending, you might want to rethink it. That is, unless you fancy being sucked up by a UFO.

UFO sightings have always been one of life’s great mysteries. However, in recent weeks, speculation about alien life has reached a fever pitch. This is partly due to recently released Pentagon files about UFOs. The fact Steven Spielberg is releasing a movie about an alien disclosure day also doesn’t help.

However, the biggest factor has been viral claims that our own disclosure day will finally occur at the 2026 World Cup.

In a viral clip, actor Jay Klay (@jay_klay) shared a conspiracy theory that has been doing the rounds recently.

Essentially, in the video, he claims that a psychic in Brazil is claiming that a mothership is coming on top of a sports event in Miami. Apparently, in that moment, full disclosure of alien life will be confirmed. It’s alleged that 700 people, including the players in this sports match, will be sucked up into the ship.

Klay also claims that, recently, there have been hundreds of videos of motherships hovering above the country.

“I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if it happens at said sporting event this month in Miami,” he said.

The video has amassed 1.1 million views.

What Did Commenters Say?

Some commenters were skeptical. “Is this a World Cup commercial?” one asked.

“Is this promotional material for Disclosure Day?” a second queried.

“I come from the future and this will not happen,” a third joked.

However, others were more on board with the conspiracy.

“Brazilian here, I’ve seen 4 different UFOs in my lifetime,” a third wrote. “It’s something you just can’t forget.”

“My friend invited me to go to the World Cup,” a fourth shared. “I declined. Just DID NOT want to go. Not sure why. Maybe I’M PSYCHIC.”

“We literally just want healthcare and housing to be affordable,” a fifth complained.

Several other commenters also compared the theory to “Space Jam,” which involves Michael Jordan playing a sports match against aliens.

Klay Shares More Speculation

In a follow-up video, Klay shared more theories about the psychic’s prediction.

“I do believe, and this is coming from my own personal belief, my intuition, because my intuition is my superpower, and it has never, never been incorrect…the vision that she had of the spacecraft sucking up the people came from the timeline that just collapsed; the negative one, that is over with,” he said. “I do believe that’s where her vision came from.”

“Now, I also do truly believe within my heart, my soul, and everything that I believe in from understanding the truth of the reality of the universe, that if the collective—you and I—and all of us keep our vibration high like it is now, we just literally killed a negative timeline because we are all collectively at a vibration that we need to be at to see all of them. So I believe that if we keep this collective mindset and vibration where it is currently, we will see the motherships appear.”

“Now, I don’t believe that anyone’s gonna get sucked up,” he added. “Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. I don’t have that information. But I do believe that this is all based on a timeline that collapsed, a vibration that we currently all have, and if we dip down to a negative and low vibration again, none of it will be seen. So it’s literally up to you whether or not you see them or not.”

What Else Does Klay Say?

In an emailed interview with BroBible, Klay shared that he wanted to post the video because of “the topic alone.”

“Personally, I find everything that has to do with extraterrestrials and UAPs extremely fascinating and extremely true,” he said. “I’ve also worked with psychics in the past that have been so accurate. It was eye opening, so I do believe in psychics and their abilities.”

He added that this topic caught his attention because the psychic he spoke of has “predicted many things over the years that have come true.”

“I wanted to make a video seeing if other people had heard of her or knew of the prediction and what their thoughts were on the topic of psychics or an alien Encounter /Abduction prediction,” he said.

He went on to add that going viral is “nothing new” to him. Klay said that while going viral was initially the “main goal” of posting content, he is less focused on the “viral part” these days “because it can come with negative energy from others.”

“Going viral has definitely opened the door for bigger opportunities, but I want to shine light on the fact that it also comes with a lot of negativity, so you really need to have a strong sense of self-awareness and confidence and also let things roll off your back,” he noted. “I think building a strong community of like-minded individuals that you can feel comfortable and safe around is way more important than going viral.”

What Does He Say About Psychics?

He believes psychics “100%” because he has worked with them before and “everything they’ve told me has always come true.”

“I’ve even worked with the past life reader that helped me unlock memories from my past lives and break generational curses and karmic blocks,” he explains.

As for the Brazilian psychic, he notes that she “does still stand by her words.”

“She originally said it would happen on the 24th, but then had a dream that said it would happen on the 26th,” he claims.

Timelines And Vibrations Explained

Klay also discussed some of the concepts from his follow-up video, including timelines and vibrations.

“My intuition and my belief says that her prediction was based on the negative timeline that we all just exited from,” he said. “Even the Schumann Scale shows the exit from one energetic timeline and the start of a new one. So I believe her prediction was based on the negative timeline that collapsed, and I do not believe anyone will be abducted. I do believe that a ship could be visible if the collective vibration and mindset remains positive….”

He continued, “When I speak of vibration or energy it’s a collective consciousness that now over 33% of our entire world has tapped into. It’s a higher vibration, a mental state of flow and acceptance. I believe that humanity has finally awakened to the fact that the universe is something different than we were all taught. I believe our internal vibration is so high and so positive now (even during a time where we see so much negativity on our phones and on our televisions) I truly believe that the collective, You and I and the entire world is at a vibration that is ready to understand, see, and accept the truth about the universe.”

What Should We Know About This UFO Prediction?

The name of this psychic is Vó Bahiana. Her original prediction video was posted on June 2 on her Instagram account, on which she has 23.4 million followers. While her video appears to be in Portuguese, a rough translation backs up the core of what Klay is saying. In recent days, her prediction has spread like wildfire, with numerous other creators covering the so-called prophecy.

These creators’ coverage includes more snippets of what she purportedly said, including that she had this “vision” in a dream. There are also conflicting accounts on whether the aliens told those they abducted that they needed to save humanity, or whether they said this to Bahiana.

Along with Klay, another creator also claimed that there have been multiple UFO sightings in Brazil recently. Most notably, in May, Brazilian influencer Mayk Leão went viral after sharing, among other things, footage of strange lights in the sky. It seems he believed these lights belonged to a UFO. However, this was later debunked. The lights reportedly came from a nearby inn.

That being said, it’s also worth noting that Brazil had a lot of alleged UFO sightings last year.

Most Matches Played At The FIFA World Cup

To be on this list, you can’t just be good; you have to be great. But you also have to be lucky. Because the event occurs only every four years, you have to hope that you’re good enough to play for your country at a young age, and then extend the peak of your career well into your 30s.

Beyond that, your country not only has to qualify every four years, but they need to make deep enough runs in at least one or two World Cups in order to rack up a good number of matches played.

In fact, only 14 players all-time have played in at least 20 matches in the FIFA World Cup, and only these eight players have played in more than 20 matches.

T6) Władysław Żmuda – Poland – 21 Matches

Perhaps the least-recognized name on this list, Władysław Żmuda was an absolute superstar for the Polish national team from 1974-86.

He debuted with the team at the 1974 FIFA World Cup in what was then West Germany, and led the Poles to a third-place finish, the best in their history at that point. Żmuda, who played a center back, was also named the tournament’s best young player.

He then appeared in the 1978 and 1982 World Cups, lifting Poland to another third-place finish in the latter in Spain. What makes Żmuda’s career even more impressive is that he played his club soccer in Poland throughout the prime of his career, only leaving for Italy in 1982, where he played for Hellas Verona up until the 1984 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, which was his last.

Uwe Seeler is the oldest player on our list, having passed away in 2022 at the age of 85. Seeler, a striker, was a superstar for powerhouse West Germany.

He appeared in the 1958, 1962, 1966, and 1970 World Cups, scoring nine goals across the four tournaments and leading West Germany to a runner-up finish in 1966 in England, and a third-place finish in 1970 in Mexico.

Seeler, who made the FIFA All-Star Team at the 1966 event, was also a member of Pele’s famed FIFA 100, which came out in 2004 and featured a list of who the Brazilian superstar believed to be the 100 best living players at the time.

Before Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona was undeniably the greatest player in the rich history of Argentine soccer, and one of, if not the greatest player, in all of soccer.

The diminutive attacker first appeared in the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain for La Albiceleste, but scored just one goal as Argentina was eliminated in the group stage.

Four years later in Mexico, however, it was a far different story. Maradona, who had established himself as perhaps the world’s best player, was an absolute superstar. Though he scored just three goals in the tournament, Maradona pulled all the strings for Argentina with the ball, leading them to their second World Cup championship in the country’s history and winning the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.

Maradona then appeared at both the 1990 World Cup in Italy, where Argentina finished as the runner-up to West Germany, and the 1994 World Cup in the U.S., where he made his final appearance for the national team in a 3-2 loss to Romania in the round of 16.

In a matter of days, both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will become the only men in history to appear in six FIFA World Cup finals.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner as the world’s best player first appeared in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, where he scored his first World Cup goal in the group stage against Iran.

Come 2010, Ronaldo had become one of the world’s best players and made the move from Manchester United to Real Madrid. However, he scored just one goal in the tournament as Portugal was disappointingly knocked out in the round of 16 by eventual champion Spain.

2014 in Brazil provided even more disappointment, as Portugal failed to advance from the “Group of Death” with Germany, Ghana, and the United States. Ronaldo scored just once in three matches, and his country went crashing out on a tiebreaker with the U.S.

Four years later in Russia, he had his best FIFA World Cup to date, scoring four goals, including a memorable hat trick against rival Spain. But the Portuguese again went out in the round of 16, this time to Uruguay.

Things improved for Portugal in 2022, when they reached the World Cup quarterfinals in Qatar. However, Ronaldo scored just once in the tournament, and the Portuguese were upset by Morocco in the quarterfinals, 1-0.

Perhaps 2026 will be the year things turn around for Portugal. But at 41 years old, there are plenty of questions about Ronaldo’s spot in the team.

4) Paolo Maldini – Italy – 23 Matches

Anybody who knows anything about the Italian national team knows that Gli Azzuri are famed for their stout defence, and perhaps no player better embodies that sentiment than Paolo Maldini.

The legendary center back was the heart of the Italian team in the 1990, 1994, 1998, and 2002 World Cups. However, he never hoisted the World Cup trophy.

Maldini helped lead Italy to a third-place finish in their home World Cup in 1990, where the Italians failed to reach the final despite allowing just two goals across seven matches.

Four years later in the U.S., Italy finished as the runner-up to Brazil in heartbreaking fashion, losing 3-2 on penalty kicks. Italy’s results fell off a bit from there, reaching the quarterfinals in 1998 in France, before being knocked out in the round of 16 in 2002.

Ironically, the Italians reclaimed the World Cup in 2006. However, Maldini’s name is still revered as one of the greatest players in his country’s history.

Nobody – not Ronaldo (Cristiano or R9), not Messi, not Maradona, nor Pele, – has scored more goals in the FIFA World Cup than German legend Miroslav Klose.

Klose, who broke onto the scene at the 2002 World Cup with five goals as the Germans reached the finals before falling to Brazil, appeared in four World Cups for Germany from 2002-2016.

He won the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer with five more in his home country in 2006, when Germany finished third.

Klose then scored three goals in both the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil at the age of 36. Klose ended his career with the German national team by lifting the World Cup trophy in 2014, with Germany defeated Argentina, 1-0 in extra time.

2) Lothar Mathaus – Germany – 25 Matches

Klose was far from the first superstar to play for Germany, as evidenced by Seeler’s inclusion earlier on this and our No. 2-ranked played, Lothar Matthaus.

The legendary midfielder played first for West Germany in the 1982, 1986, and 1990 World Cups, winning the latter, and then for a unified Germany in both 1994 and 1998.

In 1990, he was named the tournament’s Silver Ball winner as the second-best player behind Italy’s Salvatore Schillaci, and was named to the FIFA World Cup All-Star team that year as well.

Matthaus was the shining star of the German national team for nearly two decades, and remains as the German player with the most FIFA World Cup games played.

While Klose holds the record for most goals scored in the FIFA World Cup, he may not hold it for long.

Lionel Messi sits just three goals behind, and leads Argentina into what will likely be his final World Cup appearance in 2026. Messi, whose 26 matches played are already a record, will add to that record this summer, and perhaps by a good margin as Argentina, the defending champion, is expected to make a deep run through the expanded 48-team field.

Messi first appeared in the World Cup as a teenager in 2006, where he scored a goal in the group stage against Serbia and Montenegro in a 6-0 victory.

Shockingly, he failed to score in the 2010 World Cup despite the Argentines making the quarterfinals. But he more than made up for it in 2014, scoring four goals and winning the Golden Ball as Argentina made the finals.

2018 was a different story, as he’d score just once and Argentina went out in the round of 16 to eventual champion France. He’d get his revenge next time around, however, scoring seven goals and winning the Golden Ball yet again as Argentina avenged its loss to France, defeated Les Bleus on penalty kicks in the final.

Now, he’s back for a record sixth World Cup, and seemingly looks to be an integral player yet again for La Albiceleste.

An American Airlines passenger says their flight took an unexpected turn after everyone had boarded, only for travelers to be told later they had to get back off the plane.

User @ihurrrrr didn’t share many details about the flight but claimed that somebody removed the passengers from the aircraft due to an issue involving the pilot.

“POV: American Airlines boards the whole [plane] decides at midnight to offload you because the pilot was sleepy,” they wrote in the text overlay of their clip.
In the caption, @ihurrrrr questioned how the situation came to be in the first place. “Is there not a copilot / did the pilot not realize he was sleepy before……… wtF.”

However, the creator later clarified in the comments that there may have been more to the situation.

“Hiiiiiiii – re the pilot – he landed a day before, and the other pilot was very upset at him (so something else could have happened),” @ihurrrrr wrote. “Totally get it, a pilot is sleepy!!!! It was just odd we all boarded, and it was decided an hour after being on the plane when the pilot was aware of the flight!!!!!!”

The video had garnered more than 213,400 views.

Can A Pilot Stop Flying Because They’re Tired?

While it might sound unusual to some passengers, pilot fatigue is a legitimate safety concern in aviation.

Federal Aviation Administration rules limit how long pilots can work and how much rest they need between shifts. Those limits depend on several factors, including when a pilot’s day starts and how many flights they are scheduled to operate.

Pilots are also required to get a minimum rest period before their next assignment. Under current FAA rules, this includes at least 10 consecutive hours of rest with the opportunity for 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

That’s why delays can sometimes create issues. Even if a pilot is originally scheduled to operate a flight, unexpected delays can push crews closer to their maximum allowed duty time.

In some cases, that means a crew member can no longer legally continue, and the airline has to find a replacement before the flight can depart.

The FAA also makes clear that pilots are responsible for making sure they are fit to fly. If a pilot believes fatigue could affect their ability to safely operate an aircraft, that needs to be addressed.

While it’s not immediately clear exactly what happened on @ihurrrrr’s American Airlines flight, generally, a pilot saying they are too tired to fly is not treated like someone wanting to skip work.

Viewers Say Pilot Made The Right Call

While @ihurrrrr was frustrated by the situation, many commenters argued that they would rather deal with a delay than have a pilot fly when they may not be able to do so safely.

“‘Pilot is sleepy’ is a good enough reason for me,” one person wrote.

“So, would you want a tired pilot to fly you?” another questioned.

Others pointed out that fatigue rules exist for a reason and are taken seriously throughout the aviation industry.

“The regulations regarding pilot fatigue are written in blood,” one commenter said.

“Pilot fatigue is taken extremely seriously in aviation and for good reason,” another added.

Some viewers suggested there may have been more going on behind the scenes, including the possibility that the pilot had reached work-hour limits.

“Yeahhh, that pilot most likely timed out due to the delay, and he legally is not allowed to work,” one person wrote. “And mind you, that can only happen if he worked more than 14 to 16 hours. Can’t imagine being upset someone just worked their ass off and they [have] to make sure someone fit for duty is getting you to your destination.”

“Him being ‘sleepy’ means his day started 14 hours ago,” another suggested. “I’m sure if you were up at 9 am working all day, you’d probably be pretty ‘sleepy’ at midnight.”

Another viewer said they trusted the pilot’s judgment.

“If the pilot just says he doesn’t feel like working today, that’s good enough for me personally,” they wrote.

A Texas man went to a steakhouse. Then he ordered something that commenters said could cause a health code violation. The order in question? A 100% raw ribeye steak.

Steakhouse employee Dvon (@iamdvon) posted a video with more than 28,000 views. In it, he showed exactly what the fridge-to-table steak looked like at a new Primal steakhouse located at the Colony near Dallas. The content creator said that a customer requested the steak and that servers at the establishment “listen and… don’t judge.”

What Is A Fridge-To-Table Steak?

Raw steaks usually lead to disappointment from restaurant-goers. In this case, though, Dvon and the kitchen staff at Primal Steakhouse were fulfilling a specific request.

In the video, DirtyDvon shows the barren, raw 24-ounce Delmonico. He handed the wooden board the steak was placed on to another restaurant employee. Then he placed it on the pass-through for his manager to swing by and bring it to the table. “He’s gonna walk this to the table,” Dvon says.

In the comment section, he added, “I’ve seen a lot of [expletive] in this industry. Never heard of fridge to table steak. comment your thoughts.”

The term “fridge-to-table” is not a widely known term associated with raw steaks. But viewers were able to infer that it generally refers to a steak that is taken out of the fridge and served with minimal to no cooking.

There are dishes that serve semi-raw or raw beef, such as beef tartare, carpaccio, and Pittsburgh blue steaks. All of those dishes, however, have some level of preparation, whether it be seasoning, slight grilling, or freezing.

‘Directly From Fridge To Table’

In a comment to BroBible, Dvon added more context surrounding the order.

“It was a slow night, a gentleman and a woman showed up as one of the last tables of the night… After a few minutes at their table, the server comes back with this bewildered look on his face,” Dvon wrote. “I ask him what’s the issue, and he says ‘the gentleman says he wants his steak cold.’

Dvon said he paused for a moment to process the request. Then he asked questions. “Ok so like black and blue and just let rest to room temp or what?” the hospitality worker said he asked.

The waiter responded and told the man that he wanted his steak “directly from fridge to table.” And that he didn’t want it to “even touch an ounce of heat.” Dvon waited for a punchline, but it never came.

Dvon said he immediately went to the restaurant’s chief operating officer (COO), who was working as a floor manager that night. He relayed the information accordingly. The COO then went to the table to ask them questions about the order.

“After a small series of nods and laughs, our COO comes back and confirms that he indeed would like his steak (he ordered our 24oz delmonico) directly from the fridge to the table with nothing more than a side of salt and Pepper (which he [also] specified needed to be separate). The lady accompanying him ordered a med rare 8oz filet and requested it be black pepper crusted,” he said.

“Upon serving the food, our staff stood by in the shadows observing whether or not this was real or some sort of social media gimmick,” Dvon said. “He did indeed enjoy his steak, even packing up the last bit of it to take home when he was full.”

He also clarified that Primal Steak house has consumer advisories for its menus. The customer was advised that there was a risk if he consumed raw meat.

Is It Safe To Eat A ‘Fridge-To-Table’ Steak?

The USDA recommends that those cooking steaks reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit during the cooking process with a three-minute rest. Publications such as Steak Advisor, however, say that the act of eating raw beef is relatively “low risk.”

That doesn’t mean there’s no risk, though. Raw beef may have harmful contaminants, bacteria, and parasites, which can make those who consume it sick. Illness-causing bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, Shigella, and Staphylococcus aureus can emerge in raw dishes, according to Healthline.

How Did Viewers Respond?

A few viewers guessed that the customer was trying to get the restaurant a health code violation rather than ordering in earnest.

“He needs to sign something because ain’t no way i trust that without written consent,” one viewer said.

Another viewer said the customer was a “vampire.”

“I’m calling the police lol,” another viewer said.

Former Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was denied parole on Thursday, five years after killing a woman in a car crash in Las Vegas. A judge sentenced Ruggs to a minimum of three years and a maximum of ten years of incarceration for his role in the fatal November 2, 2021, car accident.

Ruggs killed Tina Tintor, 23, and her dog when he crashed into her vehicle while traveling at 156 miles per hour. When tested within two hours of the crash, authorities reported that his blood alcohol content was .016 – twice the legal limit.

The Raiders first-round pick in the 2020 draft pleaded guilty in May 2023 to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. The judge sentenced him on Aug. 9, 2023.

On Thursday, the Nevada Parole Board ruled, following a May hearing, on whether to release Ruggs from prison. During that hearing, Ruggs’ father told the board, “Every single day my son is also deeply affected by this tragedy. He has shown genuine remorse and sorrow for what happened, and he understands that a life was lost, something that can never be undone.”

Ruggs himself said during the hearing that he took “full responsibility for my actions that led to Ms. Tintor’s death and her dog, Max.”

According to 8 News Now, a representative from the parole board said they needed four votes to approve his parole. If the board had granted him parole, authorities would have probably released Ruggs from prison in August.

That same parole board representative also said Ruggs will likely have his next hearing in about a year. Documents from the parole board show that Ruggs will next be eligible for parole in August 2027.

What has Henry Ruggs been doing while in prison?

During his time in the Nevada Department of Corrections, Ruggs, who played football for the University of Alabama, completed his college education. He informed commissioners that he had taught cardio to other prisoners and had finished a DUI course. He also said that he had received counseling and spent a month in a Long Beach, California, mental health facility.

“Mr. Ruggs, and our office, continue to feel the grief and loss suffered by Ms. Tintor’s family,” Henry Ruggs’ attorneys said in a statement following his parole denial.

“However, we are disappointed by the Parole Board’s decision to deny parole despite overwhelming evidence of Mr. Ruggs having accepted responsibility for his conduct, having engaged in community outreach efforts related to DUI prevention, and having completed significant educational programs while in custody. While we respect the Board’s role, we disagree with its conclusion.”

There are 11 American cities hosting games with each featured in an NFL stadium. Contests will be played from coast to coast.

Depending on which team you’re following, the cuisine can differ greatly. California, for example, won’t have the same options as, say, Georgia. Texas has different things to offer than Washington.

Regardless of location, everything can be new to European visitors if they try. Many are getting outside their comfort zones to eat foods unique to the area.

On Wednesday, Hurts spoke with members of the media for the first time since losing his go-to wide receiver. When asked about his relationship with Brown, who recently stated that the two simply grew apart, Hurts refused to deny that characterization.

“I’m not in the place to challenge anyone’s perspective on anything,” Hurts said. “Seemingly so, it was. That’s where I am. I’ve always been focused on the collective. I’ve always put my energy towards that. As a leader, I’ve always put an onus on giving maximum effort to achieve the shared mission we have in the team.”

Now the Super Bowl-winning quarterback looks back on his time playing alongside Brown with fondness.

“You come into it and you have a sense of pride in how it began, and definitely what we were able to accomplish,” Hurts said. “The same thing I said last time, nothing can take that away. For the great things that we did, now it’s time to focus on achieving great things with this new iteration of the team.”

While neither quote is exactly scathing, the fact that he didn’t exactly change the narrative is fairly damning. It’s clear that something happened in their four years together that got between a relationship that was extremely close at one point.

Now, the Eagles will have to move forward without one of the best wideouts in the NFL, and their hope is that 2026 first-round pick Makai Lemon can help replace some of the immense value Brown provided.

One woman is convinced that her research is good enough to convince literal experts. In a recent TikTok, Sara Foster (@sarasadmomfoster) stands in the cockpit of a commercial plane. She’s presumably having a conversation with the pilot and co-pilot about her investigation. The video has been viewed over 473,000 times.

Vibes-Based Flight Decisions

“When you have studied the weather, flight route, turbulence tracker and feel like we probably shouldn’t take off,” says bold text across the screen. Foster wrote in the caption that she really thought she had a convincing case.

Hopefully, the pilot thought differently, and the flight went off without a hitch.

Foster did not immediately return BroBible’s request for comment.

Don’t Tell A Pilot How To Do Their Job

Despite the seeming absurdity of the situation, reactions range from the emotionally exhausted to the professionally mean.

The top comment (as of this writing) goes to user @357733g, who said, “Pilot here – do I tell you how to eat the pretzels?”

That viewer was backed up by a flight attendant, who reminded travelers to “please take your seat.”

But then, the real jokes came out.

One joked that Foster is “the final boss of backseat drivers.”

It’s been several days since Mercedes F1 driver Kimi Antonelli won the Monaco Grand Prix, but the towel, man, the towel. They just can’t let it go.

So, on Wednesday, Antonelli and his teammate George Russell poked a little fun at Kim Kardashian on Instagram for swiping it and not returning back to him.

“I was wondering, have you seen my towel?” Antonelli asked in the video.

“George, have you seen Kimi’s towel?” the cameraman then asked Russell, to which he replied, “No.”

The camera then cuts to Antonelli washing his hands where he once again asks, “Hey, have you seen my towel?”

That’s right. In a poll of 2,000 soccer fans, not only did a third of them think they could score a game-winning penalty kick in the World Cup, but over a fifth of them think they could “give the keeper the eyes” and trick the goalie into diving the wrong way.

Those aren’t the only extraordinarily unlikely feats soccer fans think they could pull off, according to the results of the study published by the Express.

One in six soccer fans also believes they would save at least one spot-kick if they were in the goal. 14% think they could score at least one goal if they replaced their team’s captain for the entire tournament. And 18% think they could pull off a “tactical foul.”

Soccer fans, much like fans in every other sport, also think they could do a better job than their team’s manager, as over 40% believe they could select a better squad than their team’s boss. A fifth of fans also think they could change the outcome of a football game using tactics and substitutions.

“You’ve got armchair managers who genuinely reckon they could do a better job than the gaffer, and folk kicking their own families out of the living room just to avoid a jinx,” said Betfred founder Fred Done, who commissioned the study.

“It’s madness, superstition and pure, blind hope. But when the tournament kicks off, total strangers become best mates, and everyone forgets the real world for a bit — because we’re all chasing the exact same dream.”

Firstly, I loved this film from start to finish. My problem with it though is the sound mixing. I have a projector and theater set up at home, surround sound, stadium seating, and still the sound is all off. Regardless of whether it is streaming, on TV, or Blu-Ray, the sound constantly jumps from ‘so quiet you are unable to hear it’ to ‘so loud it makes your heart vibrate at the speed of light.’ Hopefully they fix this for part 3.

Slowly but surely, Samantha Busch and her family are getting back to some semblance of normal life following the sudden and tragic passing of her husband, NASCAR star Kyle Busch, at the age of 41.

Recently, their son Brexton, who is a rising young star in the racing world, returned to the track for a Legends race at Charlotte Motorspeedway, with Samantha right by his side.

Brexton ultimately finished sixth and second in his two races, getting passed for the lead on the final lap of the latter race.

Afterward, though, Samantha revealed what the experience was like for her as well as the final promise she made to Kyle before he passed away after suffering from complications due to a bout of pneumonia.

Samantha went on to explain that Brexton, who is just 11 years old, wasn’t pushed into the sport of racing by his father. Instead, he fell in love with it organically.

“It wasn’t a dream Kyle chose for him. It was something they shared,” she wrote. “They spent countless hours talking about race cars, working together, dreaming together, and building a bond around something they both genuinely loved. Racing is what lights Brexton up and as long as it’s the dream in his heart, I’ll be right there beside him, cheering him on every step of the way.”

She also explained that if Brexton chose to pursue a different passion, she’d happily support him the same way she will support their daughter, Lennix, in any of her pursuits.

So while it may seem strange to some to see them back on track so soon after Kyle’s passing, it’s important to understand the reason why. And that reason is exactly why it makes more sense for them to be at a racing track than anywhere else while trying to navigate such difficult circumstances.

Daniel Hughes is expected to be the starting punter at Florida State during the 2026 college football season. He completely transformed his body over the last four months.

The 28-year-old Australian got ridiculously jacked during his first offseason at a Power Four program.

Although it is not uncommon for a college football player to put on a lot of muscle in between seasons, it is a lot more rare for specialists. Whatever they are doing down in Tallahassee is working!

Daniel Hughes is part of the Aussie wave of punters that went through the ProKick program in his home country. The Melbourne-native grew up playing Australian rules football with the goal to one day make the AFL. Although he got extremely close and played the sport professionally, he never quite got to where he wanted to be. That led him to try American football… in 2023.

It has been less than four years since Hughes first picked up a ball with laces but the transition came natural. He ultimately received the opportunity to punt on the JUCO level for the City College of San Francisco and instantly made an impact.

An impressive first year in the United States gave Hughes the opportunity to transfer up. New Mexico brought him on in 2025. He won the starting job during fall camp. The Lobos didn’t kick often but their 27-year-old punter earned recognition as a Ray Guy Award semifinalist anyway. His first year on the FBS level was a great success.

From there, Hughes entered the transfer portal for a second time. He committed to Florida State in January and will take over as the starting punter in Tallahassee this fall.

Not only can Daniel Hughes kick, he is the coolest looking punter in college football. The newly-minted 28-year-old rocks a bleached blonde mullet with tattoos from head to toe — even on his ears.

New Mexico listed Hughes at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds. Florida State listed him at 6-foot-5, 238 pounds. He added three pounds of muscle between his arrival to Tallahassee and the start of spring practice. It might be even more now.

Hughes recently posted a side-by-side photo of his body transformation over the last four months. His brief time working with strength and conditioning coach Josh Storms has really paid off. The Aussie punter cut down the amount of fat on his body and increased the amount of muscle. It’s not like he was fat before but the difference between February and June is very impressive.

Not only is Hughes the coolest looking punter in college football, he is also the most jacked. I know Florida State fans would prefer that their newest specialist never sees the field but, as someone who does not root for the Seminoles, I hope the offense in Tallahassee falls completely flat. I want to see as many punts as possible. He is going to be BOOMING the ball this fall!

The NFL has issued a statement after a court charged five law firms with allegedly defrauding the league’s $1 billion concussion fund out of millions of dollars. The firms were accused in an audit by Special Masters David A. Hoffman and Jo-Ann M. Verrier of collaborating with physicians to provide false Parkinson’s disease diagnoses to athletes looking for six- to seven-figure payouts.

A court decision has now barred the law firms from continuing to participate in the NFL program after they defrauded the league’s concussion settlement fund of tens of millions of dollars through these questionable Parkinson’s disease diagnoses.

The five firms represented or performed work involving 98 former NFL players. The fund authorized 57 claims, totaling over $95 million, before tips about suspicious activity triggered an audit. The attorneys’ portion of that amounted to almost $20 million. 37 claims were still pending and will now be rejected, giving the players the opportunity to reapply, according to ABC News. Four other claims were denied or withdrawn.

The ruling merely addressed the method by which lawyers pursued their claims. It does not state that any player with a Parkinson’s diagnosis does not have the progressive illness.

The 51-page filing called it “an organized scheme … in which these law firms — and potentially others — circumvented the Settlement’s anti-fraud safeguards and laundered questionable Parkinson’s Disease diagnoses into payable claims.”

“These lawyers’ referral patterns, omission of material facts about the manufactured diagnoses, and lack of forthcoming response to scrutiny have made it impossible to tell good claims from bad,” Hoffman and Verrier wrote. “They have cast doubt on every Parkinson’s disease claim going forward, and thus the claims administrator’s ability to reliably pay only true qualifying diagnoses.”

The NFL responds to the auditors’ findings and the court’s ruling

“The NFL remains committed to ensuring that players and their families receive the benefits they deserve, and any misconduct threatens the integrity of the settlement and the prompt payment of legitimate claims,” an NFL spokesman said in a statement.

“We are pleased with the Special Masters’ Decision, which sends a clear message that fraud in the NFL concussion settlement program will not be tolerated.

“The remedies that the special masters imposed are provided for by the settlement agreement and were necessary given the scope of misconduct uncovered by the claims administrator’s investigation. We are hopeful that this decision will deter future misconduct.”

Most people would not go out of their way to get up close and personal with a great white shark. However, that’s exactly what a fisherman did on the shore of a beach on Nantucket after inadvertently hooking one.

It’s been more than 50 years since millions of people found themselves dealing with a crippling fear of sharks courtesy of Jaws, a movie that continues to traumatize multiple generations of viewers who have trouble entering the ocean without thinking about what might be lurking beneath the surface.

Peter Benchley, the man who penned the novel that the blockbuster was based on, devoted the final decades of his life to championing marine conservation while expressing regret for painting the great white at the center of those works as a bloodthirsty killing machine; he (along with Steven Spielberg) believed they played a role in a rise in hunting and a significant decline in their global population.

Jaws was filmed on Martha’s Vineyard, whose waters attract a fair share of great whites and other sharks during the warmer months of the year. That same can be said for Nantucket, its neighbor approximately 30 miles to the east, and one angler had a pretty wild encounter after hooking one while fishing from a beach over the weekend.

It is illegal to actively fish for great white sharks in the United States, but there’s only so much you can do to control what bites down on your line when you cast some bait.

According to The Nantucket Current, Elliot Sudal headed to a beach on Nantucket on Sunday to test the waters and see if he might be able to reel in one of the smaller sharks he’s routinely caught during the 13 years he’s spent fishing on the island. However, he got a very unexpected surprise when he landed what he knew was a “big one” before spotting a fin that made him realize he’d landed a great white.

A beachgoer captured the moment Sudal waded into the surf to drag the shark onto the sand before he climbed onto its back to tear out the hook with a pair of pliers, a procedure that took around 25 seconds before he popped back up to release the animal (which remains surprisingly calm during the extraction) back into the ocean.

Southern California offers some of the best surfing on planet earth and this week ‘The Wedge,’ one of the more famous spots around, has been going OFF was a ‘Swell of the Century’ rolled into Newport Beach. Footage from the Newport Beach surfing mecca has been hitting the Internet with pro surfers like Koa Rothman and others converging on the spot to rip waves.

The Wedge is famous for its massive and often unpredictable wave breaks that can smash into itself and create a converging wave that launches bodyboarders, boogie boarders, and surfers high into the air like rag dolls.

SoCal Surfing Spot ‘The Wedge’ Hit With ‘Swell of the Century’

The Wedge has made many appearances here on BroBible throughout the years. Some of the more notable instances were back in 2020 when an early May swell came in and the waves were raging. Another time back in 2018 I was convinced that surfers in Newport Beach had a death wish after seeing how gnarly the waves were back then.

Flash forward to this week and a ‘Swell of the Century’ has come on. What exactly does that mean? Are these the largest waves of the past 100 years? Maybe, maybe not. What it really means is there have been waves of 20+ feet at The Wedge and even the most skilled surfers on planet earth are getting dominated by one of the most peculiar waves around.

Insane stuff, right? Another popular YouTube account in the surfing community from Brent Weldon threw up footage from The Wedge this week with ‘Swell of the Century’ in the title and it has quickly racked up tens of thousands of views overnight.

This really is a boogie boarder’s paradise compared to most SoCal surf breaks. It is one of the few waves on earth where they can rip harder (sometimes) than people on traditional surfboards.

As the World Cup gets underway, international soccer fans are getting their first taste of American prices for concessions. The high cost of food and beer will require a heavy pregame buzz.

You will be able to save yourself a few bucks if you crush an extra drink or two at the bar before you head to the stadium.

Fans who are traveling from outside the United States are baffled by the menu and how it varies from venue to venue. Not every soccer match will charge the same amount of money for the same items.

Concessions prices at the World Cup are not decided by FIFA.

The 2026 World Cup will be played across 16 host cities in the United States, Mexico and Canada. That list includes Boston, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey, Toronto and Vancouver.

Just like the domestic sporting events, the stadium is responsible for its own prices. FIFA does not set prices for food or drink at any of the 16 host venues. Nor do the countries that are playing. It is all determined by the primary owners of the stadium and their concessions partners. Every menu is different. For example, the exact same beer of the exact same size does not cost the same at Lumen Field in Seattle as it does at Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Just as they are with the alcohol prices, international soccer fans are not thrilled.

“No surprise in this rip-off World Cup,” said 67-year-old English fan Simon Harris.

“Good god, just no,” said another. “They really want to gouge everyone, don’t they? Sphincters, the whole lot of them. They’re squandering a ton of goodwill.”

“That better be the best pretzel I’ve ever had because that price is insane,” chimed a third.

“Looks like I will be fasting!” joked another.

Like it or not, this is how it is. If you are hoping to save as much money as possible, you will need to eat a full meal before the game and pair your pregame food with plenty of booze to maintain a buzz throughout the 90-minute match!

Former LSU football player Barion Brown was asked his thoughts on Lane Kiffin’s hire in Baton Rouge. He quietly trolled his old coach in the process.

Brown, now a member of the New Orleans Saints, suggested he might’ve experienced a better senior season under different leadership. Brian Kelly’s staff was unable to maximize his talent.

Brown had his worst year, statistically speaking, in 2025. That came after a transfer from Kentucky.

Who is Barion Brown?

The wide receiver was selected with the 190th pick in the most recent NFL Draft. It followed a four-year career in the SEC.

Brown started his career as a four-star recruit with Kentucky. He quickly made a name for himself as both a pass catcher and return man.

The speedster racked up a career-high 628 receiving yards as a freshman. He scored four times through the air while adding a kick return touchdown.

The next year was much of the same. Brown hauled in four receiving touchdowns, scored on three kickoffs, and found the endzone once as a ball carrier. He posted a personal best of 686 yards from scrimmage.

Across three seasons in Lexington, the dynamic threat tallied 18 touchdowns. He buoyed the production into a transfer to LSU.

In Baton Rouge, he took a step back.

Brian Kelly couldn’t figure it out.

LSU entered the 2025 season as a national title contender. It wound up 7-6. Kelly was let go midway through the year.

Offense was a major issue. Veteran quarterback Garrett Nussmeier struggled, as did his receiving corps. Barion Brown’s production took a major hit.

While he finished with a career high in receptions, his yards per catch went down drastically. He scored in his debut but wouldn’t find the endzone again as a receiver. He was not used as a runner despite showing success at his previous stop.

At one time, Brown was talked about as a Day 2 draft pick. He fell to the sixth round after his lone season at LSU.

This week, he was asked about his former coach’s replacement in Baton Rouge. He threw some shade with his response.

Brown clearly wishes he could’ve played in the new system. He might’ve had the opportunity to thrive.

Lane Kiffin is known for his creativity on the offensive side of the football. He would’ve found ways to use Brown’s abilities.

Ole Miss finished with a Top 10 offense under a former D2 quarterback. It nearly made the national title game as a result. LSU, meanwhile, ranked 103rd nationally in scoring with one of college football’s top returning quarterbacks.

Brown’s draft slide can be attributed to the poor results.

The University of Florida unveiled its plans for the most expensive stadium renovation in college football history – a $1.45 billion project.

According to the University of Florida’s initial project renderings, The Swamp will essentially remain the same, with the stadium’s bowl and recognizable winged orange walls remaining.

However, according to the project’s official website, “fans should experience a more comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable game day from arrival through departure. Improvements are expected to include more accessible concessions, improved restroom access, enhanced wayfinding, better traffic flow throughout the stadium, upgraded technology, and additional gathering spaces.”

A combination of private donations, capital reserves, project-generated income, and financing methods, including long-term debt approved by the Florida Board of Governors, are anticipated to provide funding for the stadium renovation.

“This $1.45 billion project will breathe new life into one of the nation’s most iconic college football venues and elevate it into the premier collegiate athletic destination that sets the standard for everyone else,” the board said in a statement.

The stadium will remain at the same capacity, and construction will not displace the football team

Despite the loss of thousands of seats in the lower bowl, the capacity will stay at 88,548 and new suites will make up the difference.

“The design will maintain the intimacy of the seating bowl, preserve the proximity of the fans to the field and continue to create the intimidating environment that has defined Florida football for generations,” The Athletic reports Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin said on Thursday. “We are not diminishing what makes The Swamp special. We are strengthening it. Simply put … The Swamp will be bigger, better, louder.”

The renovation website explained the reason for the massive upgrade to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

“Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is approaching its 100th year and requires significant infrastructure improvements to remain the premier venue in college athletics,” the website reads.”The project will modernize critical systems, improve accessibility, enhance the fan experience, create new revenue opportunities, and address decades of deferred maintenance while preserving the traditions and atmosphere that make The Swamp unique.”

The university anticipates beginning construction following the 2026 football season, with a target for completion before the 2030 season. Florida expects to continue playing its games at the stadium throughout the construction process.

McGregor also had a lengthy saga with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency regarding his status in the testing pool.

However, throughout his time away, McGregor maintained that he never took a banned substance. Now, the New York Times reports that McGregor was not honest about that fact.

Conor McGregor Took Powerful Banned Substances After Breaking Leg

In McGregor’s last appearance in the octagon, he suffered a brutal broken leg after throwing a kick at opponent Dustin Poirier.

Michael S. Schmidt of The New York Times reports that after the broken leg, McGregor took multiple banned substances. However, he did so at the advice of famed doctor Neil ElAttrache

“A New York Times investigation reveals that [McGregor] did take powerful, banned drugs, according to two people with direct knowledge of the matter,” Schmidt reports. “And he did so with the support of one of the most prominent sports doctors in the world, according to the doctor himself.”

However, ElAttrache defended his recommendation, stating that it had nothing to do with giving McGregor a competitive advantage.

“You are acting as if ‘banned drugs’ are somehow ‘illegal drugs’ or that they have no legitimate therapeutic use and only have performance enhancement use,” ElAttrache said. “There are many ‘banned drugs’ on the list which are necessary to medically treat various conditions which occur in people. That is why a therapeutic use exemption application exists.”

McGregor was previously scheduled to return to the UFC in 2024 against Michael Chandler, but was banned for 18 months after failing multiple whereabouts tests by USADA.

The UFC has since switched from USADA to Drug Free Sport International for its testing protocols.

Fans from dozens of countries around the world have descended upon North America in order to watch their teams compete in the World Cup. That includes a sizable delegation of people from Scotland, who have been pregaming the tournament on flights that keep running out of beer while ferrying them across the Atlantic.

Scotland is one of the 48 countries that will be competing in the 2026 World Cup, and they undoubtedly benefited from the expanded field for this year’s showdown when you consider they head into it as the 42nd-ranked squad in the world.

This marks the eighth time Scotland has competed in the World Cup, and its most recent appearance was a long time coming for fans who last watched them compete in the tournament in 1998.

They have never advanced from the group stage, and while they’ll have to overcome some steep odds to earn one of the spots Brazil and Morocco are expected to secure, there will be plenty of fans pulling for them back home and at the three games they’re scheduled to play between June 13th and 24th.

Those first two contests will go down at the venue that will officially be known as “Boston Stadium” during the World Cup, and that city has started to welcome the fans who comprise the “Tartan Army,” who have done an impressive job deleting beers on their flights to the United States.

Scotland will kick off its World Cup run against Haiti on Saturday (they’ll play Morocco there on the 19th before heading down to Miami for a showdown with Brazil on the 24th), and Boston Logan International Airport is serving as the primary gateway for the fans who’ve headed over for the event.

CBS Boston dispatched a reporter to that hub to talk to some Scottish fans after they touched down, including a kilt-clad supporter named Darren Wilson, who said, “We ran out of beer, that was my only complaint,” when asked about how the journey went (the pilot who was informed of that development noted most passengers “switched to wine” after exhausting the supply of their preferred adult beverage).

The National spoke to another fan who reported the same problem on a Delta flight that was apparently not even close to being prepared for what was in store when you consider they told the outlet the beer ran out 15 minutes after it was first served.

Abby Huhn is searching for her third different college softball program in three years. The former Iowa State and East Carolina pitcher entered the transfer portal for a second time after her sophomore season.

It is not as simple as it sounds!

Huhn spends the majority of her day emailing, texting and calling back and forth with college softball coaches all over the country. Her inbox looks a lot like someone with a full-time job.

Who is Abby Huhn?

As a native of Carlsbad, California, Huhn was a two-sport star at Mission Hills High School. She decided to stick with softball and went on to be a four-year starter. She held a 1.66 ERA with 200 strikeouts over the course of her career and made the all-conference team in two of four seasons. And when she wasn’t in the circle, she hit .370 at the plate.

Abby Huhn ultimately committed to play at Iowa State. The 5-foot-9 right-handed pitcher threw 55.1 innings as a freshman, the third most of any member of the team, and finished with a 5.06 ERA, 13 strikeouts and a record of 3-3.

And then it was off to the transfer portal. Huhn transferred to East Carolina for the 2025-26 calendar year.

Unfortunately, she did not get as many opportunities as she had hoped. The sophomore appeared 14 times in the circle with an ERA of 4.82 and six strikeouts over 20.1 innings of work. The Pirates played deep into the American Conference tournament but they did not make a regional. East Carolina finished at 34-25.

And then it was off to the transfer portal, again.

The college softball transfer portal is a full-time job!

Abby Huhn is currently searching for her next opportunity at her third different program in three years. As far as I am aware, she has two years of eligibility remaining.

Being that this is her second time, Huhn offered some advice to other athletes in the same position:

1. Take as many visits as you can.
   • “You never know what school or coaching staff will surprise you. But if you visit those schools you might be pleasantly surprised with the campus or the coaching staff or just the area itself.”
2. Ask the tough questions.
   • “You’re in the transfer portal for a reason. So ask those tough questions that might be uncomfortable but need to be answered. If you’re in between schools, right down a pros and cons list.”
3. Go with your gut.
   • “If you gut is telling you something, listen to it. Because most of the time, it’s always right. If you have a weird feeling about the school, campus or coaching staff — if you get to meet some of the players and you have a weird feeling about them — go with your guy. At the end of the day, God will lead you where you’re supposed to be.”

While that might be valuable information, the transfer portal still requires most athletes to put in a lot of work. Not only must they field inquires from interested suitors, they must also reach out to other coaches who are searching for a certain player.

LSU baseball player Steven Milam has a decision to make on his future. The middle infielder could enter the MLB Draft. He could return to Baton Rouge.

Draft projections and potential payout will impact that decision. He dared a pro team to make him a priority with recent social media activity.

Johnson recently partook in a local interview with reporter Michael Cauble. While that conversation was immediately interrupted by a phone call from transfer commit Bino Watters, the head coach quickly returned to discuss the outlook of the program after missing the NCAA Tournament.

Johnson was asked about Milam’s intentions to enter the MLB Draft. He gave a sly smile without confirming or denying the infielder’s plans.

Milam is a legitimate pro talent. He’s a career .305 hitter with 41 homers across three seasons in Baton Rouge. He is also the best defender on the roster.

Draft projections see him as a third-to-fifth round selection.

A preseason list from Baseball America tabbed him as the 84th-best draft eligible prospect. He was ranked 70th in a March release from Perfect Game.

Currently, he sits outside the Top 150 on MLB.com.

Draft position will impact his decision making. A third-round slot could come with a pick value north of $1 million. That payout falls to around $400,000 if outside the first five rounds.

If Milam can secure the bag, he will jump to the MLB. If not, LSU might be able to match his expected bonus.

His social media activity shows he’s willing to listen to the Tigers. Johnson’s smirk suggests conversations have already been had.

With a return on the table, MLB teams will have to make Milam a priority. He has options. He needs an offer he can’t refuse.

Franchise star Channing Tatum once said the script for 23 Jump Street was “the best script that I’ve ever read for a third movie.” And while 23 Jump Street may not be happening 24 Jump Street is officially in the works, with Tatum in talks to return alongside co-stars Jonah Hill and Ice Cube.

The Jump Street franchise has been dormant for over a decade, with 22 Jump Street hitting theaters in 2014. Back in 2023, Channing Tatum said the script for 23 Jump Street was “the best script that I’ve ever read for a third movie.” That movie, however, was planned as a crossover with the Men in Black franchise and his since been scrapped.

Given that 23 Jump Street doesn’t exist, the decision to title the film 24 Jump Street could mean a handful of things.

One potential direction is that it’s a meta reference to how long it’s taken to get a third film in the franchise off the ground. Another angle could be that Tatum and Hill’s characters — Schmidt and Jenko, a pair of underachieving cops who go undercover to take down drug rings — reference events of a hypothetical 23 Jump Street as if it happened to them without the audience.

There’s also the potential that the franchise has already shown its hand on what 24 Jump Street could be about, as the credits for 22 Jump Street famously featured mock title cards for hypothetical future entries in the franchise, with 24 being subtitled “Foreign Exchange Students” and being set in Russia.

21 Jump Street, released in 2012, was directed by Project Hail Mary filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller — who will return as producers on 24 Jump Street — and grossed more than $200 million worldwide. The sequel, released two years later, made $331 million at the global box office.

Archaeologists cannot explain why people in Stone Age Slovakia removed the heads of dozens of human skeletons before burying them in a ditch. The researchers found the human remains lying randomly on and next to each other in Vrable, a sizable farming community that flourished between roughly 5250 and 4950 BC.

Researchers believe the practice was part of a complicated burial process more than 7,000 years ago, rather than a violent mass murder. Even though the bones show cut marks that indicate decapitation, they believe someone probably beheaded them after they died.

“The features clearly exhibit an intentional manipulation of the bodies. First analyses suggest, above all, that violent ‘decapitations’ were not conducted here, but rather skillful removal of the skulls,” study co-author Katharina Fuchs, a biological anthropologist at Kiel University in Germany, said in a statement.

The large Neolithic settlement at Vráble is one of the most important excavation sites of the so-called Linear Pottery culture (LBK) in Central Europe, according to the archaeologists.

There appeared to be no consistent orientation among the remains. While some were face down, others were on their backs, and several appeared twisted or were overlapping. Other human bones were also strewn throughout.

Of the people found in the ditch, 77 were headless. The excavators discovered only one child’s skeleton with a preserved skull. According to preliminary data, there was not much time between these people’s deaths and their burials.

Why were all of these people decapitated?

According to the researchers, one theory is that people might have deliberately kept the heads apart, as this phenomenon has been seen in other contexts, but has not yet been directly verified for Vrable.

Numerous prehistoric societies, including the LBK, have documented similar human-body-related interventions. The specifics of the practices, however, vary substantially.

Moreover, the accumulation of corpses or body parts in settlement ditches is not a singular occurrence. However, it is noteworthy that numerous archaeological sites at the end of the LBK contain mass graves, deposits in settlement ditches, and evidence of body manipulation.

Researchers have often seen this phenomenon as evidence of a crisis, such as during violence or conflict. However, archaeologists at this site believe there may have been another reason for the practice.

“The deposition of bodies and body parts may have been part of more complex, meaningful and recurring practices,” stated co-author Dr. Nils-Muller-Scheessel.

“We must assume that these practices were embedded in completely different contexts of meaning than those of modern societies,” Furholt added. “This is what makes an interpretation of them so challenging.”

Leon Goretzka does not seem to appreciate his biggest super fan. The stalkerish supporter followed Team Germany all of the way to North Carolina to bombard his favorite soccer player with his infamous screech at the World Cup.

It is just as obnoxious and creepy as it is impressive.

This specific soccer fan has followed Goretzka throughout the last few years of his career. The German midfielder might’ve preferred that he stayed home.

Who is Leon Goretzka?

At 31 years old, Goretzka recently concluded his 14th year of professional soccer. He began his career with VfL Bochum in 2012, played 116 games for Schalke 04 from 2013-2018, and played 211 games for Bayern Munich over the last seven years.

Although his career was hindered by injuries, Goretzka scored 58 goals during that stretch. However, Bayern announced in January that he would not have his contract with the club extended. The fans gave him a rousing ovation.

Leon Goretzka is perhaps best known for his time with the German national team. A full international since 2014, he has won more than 50 caps with Nationalelf and scored 15 goals. He represented his country at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2018 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 2020 and 2022 FIFA World Cup, won a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and made the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

Goretzka is going to start for Germany. We don’t yet know who will play next to him in central midfield but his spot in the lineup is set in stone. And there is a lot of pressure to perform. DFB has been disappointing in recent years.

After 319 weeks ranked as the world’s No. 1 player, and 23 Grand Slam tournament victories, Serena Williams called an end to her tennis career in August of 2022 following the U.S. Open.

Williams, perhaps the most famous name in the sport, male or female, wrestled with the decision and even hinted at making a comeback just six months later.

However, Williams remained in retirement and pursued a number of other ventures alongside her husband, Alexis Ohanian.

That is, until this week, when Williams shockingly came out of retirement at the HSBC Championships to play in the women’s doubles portion of the tournament next to 19-year-old Victoria Mboko, who is currently ranked No. 9 in the world.

Unfortunately for Williams, Mboko is the reason that her return to the court has been cut short.

Williams and Mboko won their first doubles match in straight sets at the Queen’s Club in London on Tuesday. However, one day later, Mboko was forced to withdraw from the tournament when she injured her knee in singles competition against Karolina Pliskova.

The injury also forced Mboko out of the doubles portion of the tournament, meaning her comeback, for the time being, was over.

However, there is positive news for Serena fans.

Williams recently confirmed her plans to play in next week’s Berlin Open and hasn’t ruled out playing doubles at Wimbledon as well.

“I don’t know, I had nothing better to do. I got tired of sitting at home. My kids are out of school for the summer, so why not?” Williams said when asked why she returned. “I never got to play here; it was always just the men. It feels really special to play somewhere so iconic.”

So perhaps this is more “see you later” than it is “goodbye” for the women’s tennis GOAT.

The last thing you need when you’re competing in an Ironman race is an unnecessary distraction. However, some competitors who took on a course in Jacksonville last month encountered a pretty unexpected one after a drunk driver barreled through the course.

There aren’t many trials that truly test your physical fitness quite like an Ironman race, the gauntlets that fitness sickos have been subjecting themselves to since the inaugural one (which was partially held to settle a debate about whether runners, swimmers, or cyclists are the superior athletes) was held in Hawaii in 1978.

That race featured a 2.4-mile swim, which was followed by a 112-mile bike ride and capped off by a full 26.2-mile marathon. That format still serves as the foundation for the dozens of Ironman races that are held around the world each year, including the one that went down in Jacksonville, Florida on May 16th.

That competition was marred by a couple of vehicles that managed to make their way onto a course, including the car being driven by an allegedly intoxicated man who almost drilled a cyclist while trying to evade police.

A suspected drunk driver was arrested after driving through an Ironman race in Jacksonville

The Ironman race that went down in Jacksonville featured an overhauled course that was designed with the scenery in mind. It kicked off with a 2.4-mile swim in the St. Johns River, which led to a two-loop cycling leg through the southern part of the city and a marathon that wrapped up in downtown.

Approximately 1,900 racers competed in an event where EMTs treated close to 60 people for heat-related ailments; Pedro Gomes ultimately won with a total time of 8:30:41, and Jennifer Sylva earned the “Ironwoman” crown by crossing the finish line at 9:42:14.

The new configuration featured some headaches for local businesses and residents who had to deal with traffic issues stemming from the redesigned route, and there were multiple instances where cars managed to make their way onto the course.

That includes the one driven by a man identified as 62-year-old Darrell Simon, who led police on a chase that was captured by the dashcam of Officer Ernesto Valerio as he pursued him through the bike and running courses. A couple of cyclists had to slow down to avoid a collision after the pursuit unfolded directly in their path, and dozens of other competitors got a glimpse as it sped past them.

Simon was ultimately apprehended before being hit with”eight felony charges and nearly a dozen misdemeanors and violations,” which included his third citation for driving under the influence in the past 10 years.

That wasn’t the only car-related incident to unfold, as two people were hospitalized after colliding with a vehicle. That includes one guy who was struck by a truck 50 miles into the cycling leg and decided to carry on while completing the remainder of the race covered in blood.

While Steven Spielberg has directed some of the most iconic films in Hollywood history, a James Bond movie is not among them. And that wasn’t for lack of trying on Spielberg’s part.

During a recent interview while on his press tour for Disclosure Day, Steven Spielberg revealed that he repeatedly tried to get a crack at the Bond franchise, starting with a personal appeal to legendary producer Cubby Broccoli after Jaws essentially invented blockbusters in 1975.

Despite Spielberg’s proven track record of success and promise as a filmmaker, Broccoli said no.

“I approached [Bond producers] after Jaws was a big hit. I’d always wanted to make a James Bond film from the day I saw ‘Dr. No,’ so I called after Jaws and volunteered. I said, ‘If you need a director, I would love to direct one.’ And they said no… they consistently turned me down [and] never explained why they weren’t letting me into the Bond family,” Spielberg explained on The Rest is Entertainment podcast.

“If they ever asked me to make a Bond film now, my answer would be: ‘You can’t afford me.’”

For the upcoming 26th Bond film, Amazon MGM Studios, the new stewards of the franchise, landed a director who is about as close to Spielberg as you can get in modern Hollywood, as Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve has been tapped to helm the film.

“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen,” Villeneuve said when he was announced as the film’s director.

Spielberg’s new film Disclosure Day is being hailed as another classic entry in the sci-fi genre from the iconic Oscar-winning director, as it currently has an 82% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, with some reviews calling his best movie in a couple decades.

Hitting theaters on Friday, June 12, Disclosure Day stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. You can check out the official trailer for the film below.

Auburn University’s Ja’Kobe Tharp made history in Oregon at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Ja’Kobe Tharp set a new world record in the 110-Meter hurdles while running what might be the most picture perfect race you will ever see.

Prior to this week, the last time a Track & Field world record was set at the NCAA Championships was back in 1976. It had been a LONG TIME. That is due to a variety of factors. Not the least of which is the training cycles track athletes go through with the Summer Olympic Games typically being the goal, but primarily due to lots of growth and maturation of the athletes after college.

Auburn University’s Ja’Kobe Tharp Sets 110-Meter Hurdles World Record

During the semifinals of the 110M hurdles on Wednesday night, Ja’Kobe Tharp blew the field away. He was already an incredibly accomplished athlete on the track but this was truly the cherry on top.

Coming into the race, he was the one to beat. Ja’Kobe Tharp was the 2025 and 2026 NCAA Indoor 60-Meter Hurdles champion, he was the 2025 NCAA 110-Meter hurdles champion after winning this same event last year, and he won the 2025 USA Outdoor 110M hurdles. So everyone was looking to him as the man to beat then he went out there and snatched the souls out of his competition with a new world record.

Prior to Ja’Kobe Tharp setting the new 110M Hurdles world record at the University of Oregon where the 2026 NCAA Track and Field Championships are being held, the previous record was held by American sprinter Aries Merritt who ran 12.80 back in September of 2012. Flash forward nearly 14 years and Tharp blew past that record with a time of 12.75 seconds.

To date, the fastest 110M hurdles time of any NCAA athlete was held by Florida Gators hurdler Grant Holloway who in 2019 set the NCAA time of 12.98, both an NCAA Championship record and a collegiate record. Ja’Kobe Tharp saw those times and said ‘bet,’ breaking the NCAA Championship record, Collegiate record, and setting a brand new world record. You LOVE to see it.

Two more sprinters are now suing Puma and Mercedes F1, claiming their shoes caused them to suffer “severe and permanent” injuries. Olympian Damion Thomas Jr. and World Championship Gold Medalist Champion Allison claim the injuries essentially ended their track careers.

They now join former NCAA champion sprinter Abby Steiner, whose lawsuit against Puma and Mercedes F1 became public back in April.

A series of foot injuries derailed Stiner’s sprinting career, and in the lawsuit she brought against the manufacturers, she claimed the shoes were a major factor. According to Steiner, the carbon fiber plate and nitrofoam technology in the shoes that Puma created in partnership with engineers for the Mercedes Formula 1 team are to blame for her injuries.

Damion Thomas Jr. agrees with Stiner as he has dealt with his own spate of injuries that he blames on the shoes. Two of the shoes listed in Thomas and Allison’s lawsuits are the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 and Deviate Nitro Elite 3.

“When I learned about Abby Steiner’s lawsuit, it was the first time I considered that what happened to me wasn’t just bad luck,” Thomas said in a press release. “Like a lot of athletes, I assumed my injury was something I had to deal with on my own. If it took a lawsuit for me to realize I wasn’t alone, there have to be thousands of other athletes out there who still don’t know.”

Both Allison’s and Thomas’s complaints, filed in the same Massachusetts Superior Court as Steiner’s, assert that the sprinters began wearing Puma gear in 2022. They each make claims similar to those in Steiner’s lawsuit, asserting that Puma’s use of nitrofoam and carbon fiber plates increased the risk of injury.

The lawsuits specifically blame the carbon fiber plate and nitrofoam technology

The lawsuits claim the shoes “could place abnormal and unnecessary stress on athletes’ feet and lower legs, contributing to life-altering injuries.” They also state that Puma and Mercedes F1 “had an obligation to ensure the Puma shoes were safe, free from defect, and not unreasonably dangerous.”

The complaints also claim that Puma and Mercedes were aware that the shoe designs, including the carbon fiber plate and nitrofoam technology “and other design features, altered the biomechanics of runners or the manner in which the stresses of running impact their bodies” and “changed the foot and ankle mechanics during running that may contribute to or increase the risk of injury.”

“As professional athletes, our bodies are our livelihoods,” Allison said in a news release. “When you sign with a major brand, you trust that the equipment they put on your feet has been tested and is safe. You don’t expect that what they’re giving you might be the reason your career is falling apart and that they should have known the risks.”

According to NBC Boston, both Puma and Mercedes said they couldn’t comment on pending litigation, but Puma did say in a statement that their “products are worn by athletes performing at the top of their game in distance running and track and field, breaking records, including the world record in 60m hurdles, pole vault, and high jump. We consistently collaborate with our athletes to provide products that meet their needs.”
