Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown and ESPN talking head Stephen A. Smith have been beefing off and on for years. So that’s nothing new. However, the feud got ramped up a few notches by a rant Brown went off on during a recent Twitch livestream.

It all got started up again when Smith recently made a negative comment about Jaylen Brown on First Take. Smith claimed that Jayson Tatum’s appearance on Smith’s show, and not on Brown’s, somehow signified a rift in the teammates’ relationship.

Brown responded to the comment by going off on Stephen A. Smith, saying the ESPN host doesn’t use his “platform to do real journalism” and instead uses it “to do clickbait.”

“He’s targeting me and he’s basically saying that I’m supposed to be using my platform to report, etc., etc., but I’m not doing that,” Smith responded again on his Straight Shooter show.

“There’s a lot of things that I could say about Jaylen Brown, about how people think about Jaylen Brown, how people feel about Jaylen Brown, just like he could say it about me. But the thing about it is number one, I’m not going to get personal. Number two, I’m not going to do it cuz I got love for the brother and I got respect for him and I believe in him. But he evidently has selective amnesia.”

Stephen A. Smith then went on to provide a lengthy list of times that he supported Jaylen Brown, and Brown had no problem with his reporting.

When he was about done with his second, almost 25-minute, response to Jaylen Brown, Stephen A. Smith told him, “If you don’t understand or want to embrace the sincerity with which I’m saying what I’m saying, and instead you want to engage in your level of negativity and insults and all of that stuff, be my guest. It doesn’t faze me. I’m not going to respond again to all of this stuff.”

Over the past few years, artificial intelligence has started to infiltrate basically every industry on the planet. That includes the business of higher education, but one college in Arizona learned about the potential pitfalls the hard way after turning to A.I. to announce the names of students who’d earned a degree at its graduation ceremony.

There is little doubt that artificial intelligence is here to stay in some form after taking the world by storm, and even its biggest critics have to acknowledge it has the potential to streamline many facets of modern existence and bring some positive change into the world.

With that said, it is impossible to ignore the shortcomings and occasionally alarming flaws of a form of technology that’s still very much in its infancy, and evangelists have not done themselves any favors in their quest to win over skeptics by attempting to push it onto the masses in spite of a slew of well-documented weaknesses.

Many companies and organizations have adopted mandates to adopt A.I. primarily for the sake of doing so as opposed to focusing on applications where potential downsides are minimized. That can lead to some very awkward situations when what should have been an experiment is rolled out for something that actually matters, which was the case with a graduation ceremony that unfolded last week.

Earning a college degree is the culmination of years of hard work and (typically) a sizable amount of money and debt, and getting to cross the stage and receive your diploma is a fairly monumental and once-in-a-lifetime moment for most people.

The institutions that hand them out tend to make sure the ceremonies where they’re presented go off without a hitch, which typically includes recruiting a speaker who is provided with a list of names and the correct pronunciations to ensure every student gets a brief moment to shine.

However, according to 12News, Glendale Community College decided to go a different route this year, as it turned to an A.I. system to read the names of the students who donned a cap and gown for the pomp and circumstance that unfolded on its campus in Arizona on May 15th.

Unfortunately, things went awry, as the system in question malfunctioned while mispronouncing some names, skipping others, and repeatedly freezing while causing plenty of confusion among graduates and the friends and family members who’d assembled to cheer them on.

College president Tiffany Hernandez was greeted with plenty of boos when she revealed A.I. was to blame for the snafu, and there was some additional heckling when she announced the students who’d already walked would not get a second chance to cross the stage and have their names read properly.

There are a number of companies, including Tassel and NameCheck, that offer an A.I. “solution” for schools looking to remove that particular human element from graduations, but it’s unclear which one was harnessed at Glendale Community College.

The school eventually reversed course by having a human read the names of the alumni who were impacted, and it issued a statement after the fact, saying:

During one of our commencement ceremonies, there was a technical issue that impacted the reading of some graduate names.

While the issue was corrected during the ceremony, we are sorry for the disruption it caused during what should have been a celebratory moment for our graduates and their families. We have also communicated directly with graduates to apologize for the experience.

We are incredibly proud of all our graduates and are taking steps to ensure an issue like this does not occur again.

That transpired a week after a real estate executive who was tapped to deliver a commencement speech at the University of Central Florida was roundly booed for saying, “The rise of artificial intelligence is the next industrial revolution,” which stemmed from her failure to read a room of students who primarily majored in the humanities.

A female Seattle Mariners fan got drilled in the head by a foul ball while taking a selfie video and had to go to the hospital. Now she’s getting hate on social media.

In the fifth inning of a recent game between Seattle and San Diego at T-Mobile Park, a foul ball from Padres third baseman Sung-mun Song struck Mariners fan Jamie Golla in the head.

When it happened, Michaela Pollard, a friend of Golla’s, was taking a selfie video to send to a friend. She captured the exact moment she was hit by the baseball. Golla said the T-Mobile Park staff acted promptly, giving her an ice pack and asking whether she needed further medical care. She initially declined, but she felt queasy and lightheaded after going back to her seat.

Ballpark staff ended up getting her a wheelchair and called an ambulance. Golla was taken to nearby Harborview Medical Center for treatment shortly after being hit. She reported that although she is doing well, she is still experiencing swelling and some pain.

The video has now been viewed over 29 million times on Instagram (with Golla’s permission, according to the Seattle Times). Unfortunately, as is the case with just about anything on social media, there have been negative reactions.

“There are people wishing me a speedy recovery, but there’s also a lot of hate that comes with social media,” Golla said. “There are people telling me to pay attention, calling me names, body shaming me and friends, being sexist and bringing politics into it too, which I really don’t understand.”

The Mariners fan responded to negative comments on social media

In a follow-up Instagram story, Jamie Golla explained what happened and responded to people claiming that she was just looking to sue. She even attended another Mariners game just a couple of days after the incident.

“I never said I was going to sue, because I’m not. I understand I was at a baseball game and sitting in a section where foul balls can land,” she said. “My friend invited us to the game to enjoy ourselves and watch the game, and we were paying attention. You can even see my head following the ball in the video.

“At the time, my friend was recording a quick video response to another friend who had messaged us. Unfortunately, I was hit by the ball, and afterward my friend shared the clip on Instagram lightheartedly.”

She added, “To everyone commenting ‘pay attention to the ball’ or ‘get off your phone’, thank you for the advice.”

Rowan University star Seth Clevenger will not compete at the Division-III track and field national championships. The controversial middle-distance runner was scratched from the lineup for medical reasons, less than one year after he was suspended at Iowa State for an alleged doping scandal.

This unexpected withdrawal, while unfortunate for the athlete, is a great thing for the sport.

The indoor track and field championships were overshadowed by a podium protest in March. That will no longer be an issue during the outdoor competition later this week.

Who is Seth Clevenger?

Clevenger was a three-time New Jersey state champion in track and field at Haddonfield Memorial High School. He received New Balance All-American honors as one of the top recruits in the country.

Clevenger ultimately committed to Iowa State and set multiple PRs as a freshman during the 2022-23 season. His sophomore year saw him place fifth, fourth and second at three different Indoor meets but he did not run Cross Country and took a redshirt during the Outdoor season.

Things got messy in 2025. The top-ranked Cyclones suddenly suspended multiple runners for “breaking team rules” as rumors of a drug scandal started to swirl within the track and field community.

Iowa State did not announce which athletes were suspended or what rules they violated, but we were able to connect the dots based on who was allowed to compete at the next meet and who wasn’t. It became clear that Seth Clevenger was the most prominent athlete attached to the undisclosed scandal.

The suspension led him to transfer to Rowan University during the offseason. His former teammates started to speak up about his alleged attempts to cheat around the time Clevenger arrived to his new school. They accused him of using an illegal peptide to promote healing in muscles. They also claimed to find multiple packages labeled ‘EPO’ in his fridge. EPO is a banned substance in the sport.

Because the NCAA is not attached to the World Anti-Doping Code, the USADA was not able to rule Clevenger as guilty or issue a punishment for the use of an illegal substance. He never failed a drug test.

The NCAA also does not require a team-issued suspension to follow an athlete across multiple programs. Iowa State suspended Clevenger. He was not suspended the governing body of collegiate athletics. He is free to compete at Rowan University without any restrictions.

Division-III Track and Field championships controversy, explained.

Seth Clevenger continues to deny the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Even though he has not once tested positive, the stigma surrounding his suspension at Iowa State and subsequent allegations from former teammates will continue to follow him throughout the rest of his track and field career.

The current junior in college won the 5,000-meter event at the Division-III Indoor Track and Field Championships back in March. The second-, third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place finishers decided to walk off of the podium during the trophy ceremony in protest of Clevenger’s victory and his past.

It also happened after the 3,000. Clevenger won his second Division-III national title in two days (by more than 10 seconds) but his fellow competitors once again bailed on the podium ceremony in protest.

A similar demonstration was likely to take place during the Division-III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Veteran’s Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin this weekend. Clevenger was the heavy favorite to win the 3,000 and the 5,000. His podium counterparts were likely going to walk off, just like they did at the indoor meet. It was inevitable.

However, Clevenger is no longer going to run. Rowan is sending 24 athletes to Nationals in 29 events. Its middle-distance star will not be one of them. He was just announced as a medical scratch for the outdoor championships. The timing of his decision will allow other runners to enter in his place.

The wild world of modern college sports could well face its biggest shakeup yet thanks to the LSU Tigers men’s basketball program.

The Tigers, who recently rehired controversial coach Will Wade, currently have just four scholarship players on their roster heading into the 2026-27 season. But they’re exploring all avenues to fix that issue, some of which may seem extremely drastic.

According to Eurohoops, the Tigers have offered 26-year-old Israeli pro Yam Madar an NIL deal worth $5 million per season to join their program.

“Reports in recent days suggested that Madar had been in negotiations with the NCAA program from Louisiana, with speculation even linking the deal to a staggering $5 million per season package. Those talks now appear to have reached a full agreement,” the report states.

Yam Madar May Not Even Be Eligible To Play NCAA Basketball

Madar, who is Israeli, began his career with Hapoel Tel Aviv while performing mandatory military service. He then made stops at Partizan Belgrade, Fenerbache, and Bayern Munich before returning to Hapoel last season, where he averaged 11.1 points per game.

There’s just one problem. Madar may not even be eligible to play college basketball.

The former second-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft (the same draft that included Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, and LaMelo Ball), will require special approval from the NCAA in order to become eligible due to his professional experience.

If he doesn’t receive approval, LSU will likely have to take the case to court.

RJ Luis Joins Yam Madar In Limbo For LSU

But Madar isn’t the only case of the Tigers and Wade pursuing pro players. On Tuesday morning, they received a commitment from former Big East player of the year, RJ Luis Jr.

Luis Jr. played for UMass during the 2022-23 season before transferring to St. John’s. He then entered the 2025 NBA Draft but went undrafted before signing a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz. He was later traded to the Boston Celtics and signed a contract with their G League affiliate in Maine.

Like Madar, Luis Jr. is not currently eligible, but will pursue legal action in hopes of regaining eligibility. If either, or both, of Madar or Luis Jr. win their cases, college sports may never look the same.

The Sport Fishing Championship tournament series features 6 stops (12 total tournaments) throughout the year. Teams are divided into Atlantic and Gulf divisions and then compete for the grand championship at the end of the season during the Zane Grey Playoffs which Scottie Scheffler’s team won last year.

The Key West Classic was the first stop of the season and held in Key West, Florida on April 17th. That was two tournaments in one (Atlantic and Gulf), with 13 teams competing. The Lights Out team won the Atlantic and the Third Coast Renegades won the Gulf Division. Ben Simmons’ Atlantic division South Florida Sails were in contention on Day 2 of the 3-day fishing tournament but fizzled out.

Flash forward a month to the second Sport Fishing Championship tournament of the year, the 2026 Walker’s Cay Open in The Bahamas, and Ben Simmons‘ South Florida Sails were crowned champions.

Fishing began on Friday morning and the Ben Simmons’ crew released their first blue marlin at 11:18 AM with angler Alex Stanley on the rod. Blue marlin are worth 450-points and that fish immediately put them atop the leaderboard. At 2:53 PM, Ben’s team would release their second blue marlin of the day, also with Stanley on the rod. Combined with two sailfish caught throughout the day, they finished with 1,050 points and the Day 1 lead.

On Day 2 of fishing, the South Florida Sails were able to find the blue marlin again. Angler Lee Albarty released one at 12:10 PM and Alex Stanley released a sailfish one hour later. This pushed the team to over 1,500 points.

Then on Day 3 they dominated the field. Ben Simmons’ team released their sixth blue marlin of the Walker’s Cay Open at 11:24 AM on Sunday which pushed them to 2,925 points.

Other teams were fighting back. Kenny Hernandez of East Coast Remix, a friend of mine who I went to Lake Tahoe with on a bachelor party a few years ago and he taught me everything I know about playing craps, caught a blue marlin at 2:10 PM on Sunday.

In the end though, nobody could catch Ben Simmons and the South Florida Sails. Their 2,925 Points was 2x the second place New Jersey Sea Birds with 1,450 pounds. In third place was Kenny Hernandez and East Coast Remix with 900 points.

Through two stops (4 tournaments), Ben Simmons’ South Florida Sails Angling Club sits in 2nd place in the Atlantic Division Standings with a total of 5,900 points. Kenny Herndandez and the East Coast Remix are tied for 3rd place in that division with 5,600 points. The Third Coast Renegades Angling Club is leading the Gulf Division Standings with 3,500 points.

He was named Offensive Player of the Year for his performance, but the trophy he got for winning it left a lot to be desired due to some questionable quality control.

Smith-Njigba learned he’d won that award when the NFL Honors ceremony was held a few days before the Super Bowl, but it appears it took the league a few months to send him the trophy immortalizing that achievement.

On Tuesday, the wide receiver hopped on Instagram to air some grievances after taking a closer look at the “disrespectful” piece of hardware, which boasted multiple spelling mistakes.

At first glance, it looked like Smith-Njigba received a trophy for winning “Defensive Player of the Year,” although closer examination suggests it might actually be “Oefensive” player when you consider the first letter resembles the “O” in “Of.” That wasn’t the only oversight, as there was also no space between “The” and “Year.”

It’s safe to assume the NFL will offer him a replacement, but if I were him, I’d do everything in my power to hang onto what is an instant collector’s item.

In 2025, Bill Belichick was involved in a controversial interview with CBS Sunday Morning. What was an otherwise pedestrian conversation between the coach and the show’s host, Tony Dokoupil, generated headlines when Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, appeared to shut down a line of questioning.

When Dokoupil asked Bill Belichick how he met Jordon Hudson, she, sitting at a nearby desk with a scowl on her face, interjected, “We’re not talking about this.”

Later reports from the CBS interview further described Hudson’s “baffling, impossible” behavior, which included several delays, refusals to answer questions, and her eventual storming off set.

On social media, Hudson maintained that Dokoupil knew the couple had forbidden discussion of their relationship. Belichick claimed Hudson’s reaction was merely an attempt to keep the conversation on track. He also suggested that his team had asked CBS not to discuss his relationship. The network responded in a statement that his claim was untrue.

Fast forward to Tuesday, and in a new interview with Sean Hannity, Bill Belichick doubled down on his claim about CBS allegedly lying to him.

“I was stunned at how horribly you were treated. I couldn’t believe it,” Hannity told Belichick, referring to the CBS interview.

“I couldn’t believe it either,” Belichick replied. “Well, you know, as we’ve seen recently, there have been more editing problems, and they go back to over a couple years, multiple examples of editing and interview process and all that. I thought that the interview I had with them was done very deceptively.

“And I’ve asked for the transcript from them and they won’t give it to me. They’ve done that with other others. I’m not really sure what that policy is.

“So, um, kind of confused about their some of the things that they say they are, but I don’t really see them living up to the the trust that they talk about.”

Fox News and other outlets asked CBS News to comment on Bill Belichick’s latest claims, and they have yet to respond. However, based on his last time making similar claims, there is a pretty good chance they will.

Zach Golson will be suspended from coaching high school football in the state of Alabama during the entire 2026-27 academic calendar year. Defensive coordinator Alex Page will assume the role of head coach in the interim but Mary G. Montgomery will not be allowed to compete in the postseason while on probation and must pay a fine.

This three-fold punishment stems from a self-reported recruiting violation.

Although the Vikings will be permitted to play their 10-game regular-season high school football schedule, it is an unfortunate reality for the athletes who did nothing wrong. The entire program will be punished.

Mary G. Montgomery High School is located in Semmes, Alabama as part of the Mobile County Public School System. Founded in 1965, it enrolls approximately 2,000 students in Grades 9-12.

The Vikings compete in Division 7A of high school football in the Yellowhammer State. They went 30-90 under six previous head coaches before Zach Golson was hired in 2022. He led them to an overall record of 37-10 in the last four seasons with their only three playoff wins in school history, multiple regional titles and their first-ever appearance in the state semifinals. He was named as the Class 7A Coach of the Year in both 2022 and 2023 as a result.

Mary G. Montgomery finished last season ranked No. 15 in Alabama with a record of 10-2. It will be ineligible to compete in the postseason in 2026.

The school accepted an undisclosed fine and a one-year postseason ban. The punishment stems from a self-reported violation of an Alabama High School Athletic Association recruiting rule.

Golson will also be suspended from coaching for the entire 2026-27 school year. The varsity football program will also be placed on restrictive probation for the upcoming 2026 season. Any students who were found to be in violation of the rule will be deemed permanently ineligible to participate in athletics at the school. There is no official word on how many student-athletes are effected.

This latest saga has played out over the last few weeks. Golson was escorted out of the school on May 4 and placed on administrative leave. The school went to the AHSAA with its violation. The AHSAA announced its ruling after a full review.

Mary G. Montgomery got caught recruiting in Alabama.

According to the AHSAA, Mary G. Montgomery violated Rule VI, Administration, Section 12 on recruiting. The issue focused on a signing ceremony for eighth-grade students in April.

As the story goes, multiple students in attendance at the signing ceremony were not zoned to attend high school at Mary G. Montgomery. Golson and the Vikings might’ve gotten away with the shenanigans if photos of the event did not surface on social media after the fact. The photos exposed the students who were considered “out of district.” In turn, they also exposed the football program.

Mary G. Montgomery had no way of hiding its wrongdoing after the photos were posted online. It went to the AHSAA with its own report of violations to avoid a larger punishment down the road.

Under National High School Federation rules, any contact or communication with a student (or student’s parents or any other family member) who is actively enrolled in another school is prohibited, regardless of school zone. That includes phone calls, emails, texts, social media, etc.

According to the AHSAA handbook, a coach in violation of the aforementioned rules on communication shall be “barred from coaching at any AHSAA member school for one year.” It is then up to the board on how to punish the program. For the Vikings to get out ahead of the problem helped to improve their case.

As if things weren’t bad enough for NASCAR driver Natalie Decker after her latest on-track incident, they just got a whole lot worse thanks to future Hall of Famer Kevin Harvick.

Decker is under fire from all angles of the motorsports world after she had a radio meltdown during a recent Truck Series race at Dover, leading to her pulling her truck into the garage and quitting mid-way through the race.

“You guys I’m trying my best to hold my s— together, but I don’t want to keep doing this,” Decker told her team through tears.

“There’s just so many s—ty things that I could say right now, and I’m just trying to keep it together, about the f—ing director of the series,” she continued. I’m sorry (Team Owner) Josh (Reaume), I’m not going to come back to the Truck Series … I’m staying in the O’Reilly Series, this series f—ing sucks.”

Some fans had sympathy for Decker, expressing concern over her mental state. Others, like Harvick, didn’t exactly agree.

Kevin Harvick Says Natalie Decker Is Making Things Harder For Women In Racing

Decker has already faced criticism from other racers, both men and women alike, for her behavior off the track and lack of performance on it.

Multiple female drivers have said that Decker makes things more difficult for them in the sport, and now it appears that Harvick, a former NASCAR Cup Series champion, agrees with them.

“I’m in the zero-sympathy category,” Harvick told co-host Will Buxton on a recent episode of Speed on Fox Sports 1. “I think that racing is something that either you’re good at, or you’re not, and I don’t like to see a mockery made out of what our sport is.

“We have so many great up-and-coming female drivers … I hate to see all the work for a Jade Avedisian, that is coming up through the ranks, Isabella Robusto, all the females that are trying to do it the right way, by being good at their craft. And seeing the rage quite that (Decker) went through this weekend, I have zero sympathy for throwing a temper tantrum and blaming it on a series director.”

That may sound harsh. But it’s hard to disagree with anything Harvick said, and Decker seemingly has nobody to blame but herself for the controversy.
