It goes without saying that every NBA team is hoping to land a superstar in the draft, but identifying the guys with the highest ceiling is easier said than done. The overall level of talent also tends to vary from year to year, and while there have been plenty of weak classes, there have also been more than a few that have boasted a number of legends who ended up in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

These are the NBA Draft classes with the most Hall of Famers

The NBA Draft has a history that stretches back to 1947, and as things currently stand, the ones that were held in 1951 and 2000 are the only ones that have not boasted a player who had a career in the league that was worthy of being immortalized in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Every other NBA Draft class up to 2004 has produced at least one Hall of Famer, and I decided to take a look at the ones with the most (along with one that will join their ranks once a certain player ends up retiring).

Before we dive in, there are a few things to note.

This obviously doesn’t account for the players from more recent drafts who are still not eligible to be enshrined in Springfield. The league is currently home to at least a dozen guys who will undoubtedly be inducted as individuals once they decide to hang up their sneakers (although it doesn’t seem like there are any classes from the last couple of decades that will have at least four Hall of Famers when everything is said and done).

There are also some players who were honored for their coaching abilities (like Pat Riley and Phil Jackson, who were both drafted in 1967), but these numbers only reflect the guys who got in for their play in the NBA (there are a few international stars who primarily got in due to their play in other leagues, who I won’t count in the officials numbers but will note when their year comes up).

I’m also not considering players who initially snubbed the league for the ABA after being drafted, which was the case with Mel Daniels and Louie Dampier in 1967 and Dan Issel in 1970.

Finally, there are also some players who were drafted multiple times before making their debut, and I’m only considering the year that led to them joining the team that picked them (which takes 1947 out of the running due to Harry Gallatin, who waited until the following year to get picked by the Knicks).

Without further ado…

2003: 4*

• LeBron James (Cavaliers, 1st overall, will be inducted after he stops playing)
• Carmelo Anthony (Nuggets, 3rd overall, inducted in 2025)
• Chris Bosh (Raptors, 4th overall, inducted in 2021)
• Dwyane Wade (Heat, 5th overall, inducted in 2023)

If we’re being technical, the 2003 NBA Draft has only produced three Hall of Famers, all of whom were selected in what turned out to be an absolutely stacked Top 5. The Pistons retroactively missed the mark by using the second pick to scoop up Darko Milicic, who was followed by three inductees: Anthony, Bosh, and Wade.

All three of those men were also enshrined as members of the “Redeem Team” that won gold for the United States at the 2008 Summer Olympics, which also featured a fourth man who will end up in Springfield whenever he decides to call it quits: LeBron James, the first overall selection in 2003.

There have been seven other NBA Draft classes that have produced four Hall of Famers based on my aforementioned criteria, and I’m going to list them starting with the most recent and then work my way back.

1985: 4

• Patrick Ewing (Knicks, first overall, inducted in 2008)
• Chris Mullin (Warriors, 7th overall, inducted in 2011)
• Karl Malone (Jazz, 13th overall, inducted in 2010)
• Joe Dumars (Pistons, 18th overall, inducted in 2006)

Lithuanian big man Arvydas Sabonis was drafted by the Trail Blazers with the 24th overall pick but did not make his debut in Portland until 1995. He spent seven seasons in the NBA, but his induction mostly stemmed from his play in Europe.

1984: 4

• Hakeem Olajuwon (Rockets, first overall, inducted in 2008)
• Michael Jordan (Bulls, 3rd overall, inducted in 2009)
• Charles Barkley (76ers via trade, 5th overall, inducted in 2006)
• John Stockton (Jazz, 16th overall, inducted in 2009)

Oscar Schmidt, the Brazilian superstar who is credited as the highest scoring player in basketball history, was drafted by the Nets with the 131st overall pick but never played in an NBA game. He was inducted in 2013.

1976: 4

• Adrian Dantley (Buffalo Braves via trade, 6th overall, inducted in 2008)
• Robert Parish (Celtics, 8th overall, inducted in 2003)
• Alex English (Bucks via trade, 23rd overall, inducted in 1997)
• Dennis Johnson (SuperSonics, 29th overall, inducted in 2010)

1974: 4

• Bill Walton (Trail Blazers, first overall, inducted in 1993)
• Bobby Jones (Rockets, 5th overall, inducted in 2019)
• Keith Wilkes (Warriors, 11th overall, inducted in 2012)
• George Gervin (Suns, 40th overall, inducted in 1996)

1965: 4

• Bill Bradley (Knicks, territorial pick, inducted in 1983)
• Gail Goodrich (Lakers, territorial pick, inducted in 1996)
• Rick Barry (Warriors, 2nd overall, inducted in 1987)

• Tommy Heinsohn (Celtics, territorial pick, inducted in 1986)
• Bill Russell (Celtics, 2nd overall, inducted in 1975)

• Elgin Baylor (Lakers, 90th overall, inducted in 1977)

The 1955 draft also technically produced four players due to Jones, who was selected by the Lakers that year. However, he decided to stay in college and flirt with a career in the NFL before joining the Celtics in 1958, so I’m only going to consider him part of this one.

Controversial former MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer is on the move again. According to the Long Island Ducks, Bauer’s contract has been transferred to Diablos Rojos del México of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol Banorte.

In a press release from earlier this week, the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball have transferred the contract of Trevor Bauer to the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican League, effectively ending his tenure with the Atlantic League club.

Bauer, who has been attempting to work his way back to MLB after a suspension stemming from sexual assault allegations, posted a 5-1 record, 2.36 ERA, and 66 strikeouts in 42 innings over seven starts with the Ducks. Bauer also threw a widely-mocked no-hitter and was named Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month in April and May.

In their statement announcing the roster move, the Ducks did not detail why they decided to transfer Bauer’s contract to the Diablos Rojos del México.

Bauer made plenty of headlines during his time with the Ducks, as his reaction — or, perhaps more aptly, the lack of reaction from his teammates — to his no-hitter went viral, as did his verbal abuse of an umpire over a safe call at second base on a groundout play.

Bauer, 35 years old, spent nine seasons in Major League Baseball with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Guardians, Cincinnati Reds, and Los Angeles Dodgers, and won the National League Cy Young Award in 2020 while with the Reds.

His career in MLB fell apart in 2021 when he was accused of sexual assault by multiple women, with the most prominent accuser obtaining a temporary restraining order against him, alleging he had physically and sexually assaulted her during two encounters. A second woman made similar allegations shortly after. Bauer has consistently denied the allegations and filed defamation lawsuits against some of his accusers.

The LA district attorney’s office declined to prosecute Bauer, however, due to concerns about being able to prove the sexual acts were non-consensual beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

Despite the lack of legal repercussions, however, MLB placed Bauer on administrative leave and launched an investigation, which was then followed by the league suspending him for 324 games (later reduced to 194 games on appeal) — the longest suspension for on-field conduct in league history. He was released by the Dodgers and never signed by another MLB team.

Bauer has since pitched with the Long Island Ducks, the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, and the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam, a Ghanian witch doctor who claims to have caused a Cristiano Ronaldo knee injury at the 2014 World Cup, has set his sights on Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane ahead of England’s matchup against Ghana on Tuesday. Kane is coming off a club season in which he scored a whopping 61 goals for German champions Bayern Munich.

Ghana is sitting on three points following their opening match victory over Panama, meaning a win will guarantee their spot in the knockout rounds, while a draw to put them on four points would also likely be enough to advance them to the round of 32.

A FIFA World Cup attendee is calling out StubHub after buying tickets to a game using their service—and getting a significant downgrade.

In a video with over 388,000 views, TikTok user Joyce (@joyce.rezk3) recounts how a StubHub purchase nearly ended in disaster.

According to Joyce, she purchased two Category 1 tickets for the Belgium v. Egypt match in Seattle, Washington. Per the FIFA website, Category 1 tickets are the highest-priced seats owing to the fact that they are as close as possible to the pitch. Joyce claims she bought the tickets two months prior to the game.

After arriving in Seattle on Saturday, she says she received an email that her tickets were finally available. When she opened them, however, she realized something was amiss.

What Was Wrong With These FIFA Tickets?

Upon opening her StubHub account, Joyce discovered that she was given not Category 1 tickets. Instead, she received Category 3—the second cheapest seating tier.

“OK, must have been an error. Benefit of the doubt, whatever, whatever,” Joyce starts.

At this point, Joyce tries the site’s chat function, which she describes as “not helpful whatsoever.”

From there, she calls. After four hours of phone calls, she says the company “hung up on us.”

Eventually, Joyce is informed that she has two options, neither of which she finds satisfactory.

“The only options we’re getting is either ‘Get a full refund of whatever you paid’ or ‘You accept our accommodation of Category 3 tickets,’” she explains. “We don’t understand why we’re getting Category 3 tickets. Eventually…they explain it to us and they’re like, ‘Oh, the seller that you bought these tickets from, I guess, went back on his word about the tickets or whatever so that those tickets are no longer available. But, what we can offer you are Category 3 tickets, because now what you paid is only enough for Category 3 tickets.’”

“Pause,” Joyce interjects. “So, I bought these tickets two months ago on a good deal…Now you’re not able to accommodate me because a seller that you’re responsible for went back on his word? How is that my own fault?”

She Doesn’t Get An Answer

From here, Joyce voices her confusion that StubHub seemed to “accommodate” her with tickets that she did not want and did not inform her of the change.

“I’ve taken time off of work. I’ve booked a plane ticket. I booked a hotel. My friends and I are here to watch. We have a certain expectation of what we’re going in with—and now, you threw our entire trip off, and it’s completely unfair,” she states.

To make matters worse, she says the treatment she received from StubHub was “extremely rude,” calling their tone “dismissive” and claiming she was hung up on multiple times, even after being connected to supervisors.

Finally, Joyce says she was connected with a man named John. Joyce describes John as “super sweet” and “really helpful.” John allegedly opened up a support ticket and told Joyce that she would get a response by the following day.

There’s No Response

After a day went by without a response, Joyce decided to simply purchase new Category 1 tickets. She says she believed the cost of these tickets could be offset from the refund she was told she’d receive from StubHub.

But, when she called StubHub again to confirm the refund, she says the customer service worker seemed confused by the idea. She also adds that she was, again, repeatedly hung up on.

“[We] came here a couple days early to enjoy the city, to do whatever. Instead of being able to do all these things and like, the stuff that we plan to do, we are on the phone three, four hours every single day trying to figure out this problem,” she concludes. “So kindly, StubHub, give me my refund. And for anybody who’s going to any game, any concert, anything that you are buying tickets off of StubHub, do not, because it’s giving scam.”

What She’s Entitled To

If this is not the case, the company says it will “find you comparable or better tickets to the event, or offer you a refund of what you paid for your purchase or credit of the same amount for use on a future purchase.”

In cases where a customer is not happy with the offered replacement tickets, StubHub will provide a full refund. That said, it’s unclear why she was provided with Category 3 tickets, as these would not appear to be “the same as or comparable” to the tickets she ordered.

Joyce isn’t the only person reporting difficulties with their tickets. Some ticket buyers say they were scammed, while others allege that FIFA canceled their tickets without warning.

She Gets Her Refund

Joyce later posted an update video saying that she was eventually able to get a refund.

According to Joyce, StubHub reached out via direct message. She attributes this to the virality of the video.

From there, the company confirmed details about her order and asked how she would like to be compensated. She said that she would like a refund and the price difference for the new tickets. Joyce says that StubHub confirmed they would send that to her.

“It’s gonna take, obviously, a couple of business days for us to get a refund. But, at least they were able to do that,” Joyce says.

Not only that, but Joyce says she was able to attend the game, which she describes as “awesome.”

Did StubHub Address The Issue?

In an email, a StubHub spokesperson offered the following explanation.

“When Joyce’s original seller couldn’t fulfill her Category 1 tickets, our team sourced replacement tickets as required under FanProtect. The replacement tickets offered were the most comparable price point to when she bought—we understand why that was frustrating and why she declined them,” the spokesperson wrote. “Under our FanProtect Guarantee, buyers are not required to accept a replacement they don’t want.”

The spokesperson also elaborated on the company’s replacement policy.

“When a seller can’t fulfill, our first step is sourcing a comparable replacement. If the buyer doesn’t accept the replacement, we issue a full refund. In Joyce’s case, she declined the replacement, purchased her own tickets, and we refunded her the difference in price,” the company spokesperson explained.

“We take reports of poor customer service interactions seriously and are actively retraining agents specifically for World Cup-related issues,” the spokesperson stated.

When asked about the TikToker’s belief that she got a response because the video went viral, the spokesperson wrote, “On the broader question of whether this outcome required public escalation: it shouldn’t have. The resolution Joyce received, a refund for the price difference, is available through our normal support channels and doesn’t require a viral TikTok to access. We’re truly sorry about that experience.”

In the comments section, users offered their thoughts on resale and the issues FIFA World Cup attendees seem to be having with tickets.

One family at Olive Garden gave a tip that they thought was industry standard, only to leave questioning whether they had the facts right.

The family went to Olive Garden for a meal that resulted in a $113 bill. Then their server profusely thanked them for their 20% tip, leaving them confused.

Jenny (@imjennyfromtheshop) says she received a number of “thank yous” and appreciative words from her server, who was working at an Olive Garden in North Richland Hills, Texas. She explains in a video with more than 313,000 views that the interaction left her wondering, “What’s everyone’s normal tip percentage at restaurants right now?”

Why Was The Olive Garden Worker So Happy About The Tip?

Jenny says that she and her family went to Olive Garden for a quick dinner. In total, they ordered an appetizer and a dinner for each family member.

When they received the bill, it was more than $100. Jenny says she tipped 20% on a tablet.

“That is what I’ve always done unless the service is just, like, abnormally horrible, like, they didn’t care anything about us, they never came over,” Jenny says. “Like, that’s… I really can’t even remember a time that that has been the case. But I tip 20% on the bottom line, sign the check.”

Jenny says she thought this was normal. But the server came up to her family and personally thanked her for the tip. Later, while the content creator’s children were eating dessert, she says the server came back and asked if they wanted any drinks to go. After asking, she says he thanked them again for the tip.

Around five minutes later, the server came back again, she continues. She says he showed the family a picture of his daughter and told them that their tip was going to her.

Afterward, Jenny reflected on the situation.

“We’re walking to our car, and I’m talking to my husband, and I’m like, ‘Do people not tip 20% anymore?’” she recalls questioning.

What’s Today’s Tipping Standard?

Jenny’s inclination to tip 20% as a baseline is on the upper end of the hospitality industry’s tipping standard, according to TipWhiz. Publications such as Bankrate have previously recommended tipping at least 18%. Tipping slightly more is complimentary for great service, whereas tipping closer to 15% is customary, even when service is not up to par, according to USA Today.

Many people have argued that 20% is the correct tip at most restaurants and is the new industry standard.

Viewers in the comment section of Jenny’s post gave their own tipping recommendations to the content creator.

“I’m a server and I’d say on average my tips are between 20-24%. As a person I tip based off service,” one viewer said.

Another viewer, however, took an opposing position.

“Tipping is optional always has been and will be,” they said.

Olive Garden Servers Weigh In

Many current and former Olive Garden server shared what their tips are usually like.

“As an olive garden server it is very rare that our guests tip 20% and it really sucks because we have endless refills that people take advantage of and don’t tip well,” one viewer said. “Someone today tipped me a $25 gift card and they tipped $20 on card too i had to go make sure they meant to do that lol.”

Another commenter even said they quit working at Olive Garden because they didn’t receive enough tips on large orders.

“I quit the Olive Garden a couple weeks ago bc people just don’t tip. I always got 22% on average but when people only get water and soup and salad their bill is like $22, so I get like a $4-5 tip,” they said. “For all the running around you do at Olive Garden it’s just not worth it. Also, your only allowed 3 tables max. So, my night shifts would average to about 40-50 bucks for 6 hours.”

When you throw a batch of chicken nuggets in the oven, you expect a quick, easy, and delicious meal. However, for one TikToker, this snack turned into chaos.

Denver TikTok user Abby Smith (@abbyyysmitth) began the video in shock. “I was just making some chicken nuggets, I just took it out of the oven to flip them over and a bunch of black liquid just squirted out of this corner… all over my apartment,” she said.

As she says this, she zooms the camera out. Black liquid can be seen dripping from the walls and pooling on the floor. “I actually am at a loss for words,” she admitted.

“I don’t understand how this happened,” she added, showing users the black droplets on the kitchen sides. She then picked up the tray that was in the sink as more black liquid dripped out. “Like, what the hell.”

“I know it’s double insulated but like this has literally never happened to me in my entire life,” Smith continued. “And my mom gave me this pan and had it in my childhood, my entire life.”

The video was accompanied by on-screen text that read: “Things that happen to me when im already overstimulated.”

Clearly, someone wasn’t following the McDonald’s homemade chicken nugget recipe.

What Did Commenters Say?

Commenters were very opinionated.

“Bestie, pans are not that expensive,” one wrote. “People hang onto these things like their war-time savings bonds. Treat yourself to a new pan, girl.”

“It’s a two layered (insulated) baking tray, which is great for cookies,” a second pointed out. “It’s not dishwasher or soaking safe. I wouldn’t use it for chicken nuggies. It also looks pretty beat up so maybe replace it.”

A third agreed, writing, “Sink water, rust, bacteria are pouring out of a rusted corner hole from being so old lol time to get a new pan bestie.”

While a fourth quipped, “Girl, that was the dipping sauce for the nugs.”

What Was It?

A further commenter wrote, “Raw dogging the pan with no foil was a choice.”

Responding to this, among other things, Smith made a follow-up to set the record straight.

She began with the pan itself. Smith said that while she was aware the pan was typically used for baking/cooling, it was what she considered to be a “last resort pan.” She had previously washed the pan a few months ago, but didn’t realize it was still a bit wet. Because of the timeframe, the water oxidised, which is why it’s black.

She also hypothesized that the pressure and the heat of the trapped water made it boil over.

Moving on to the foil discourse, Smith defended not using the kitchen item. She claimed that repeatedly using it was wasteful. On the other hand, as she noted, people had not used foil for centuries prior to its invention.

There was one criticism she understood, though. That was the fact that she only had seven nuggets in the pan. Smith agreed that she should probably invest in one, though she noted she was making a chicken ceaser salad wrap.

Still, she said she appreciated the back and forth and apologized for “triggering” people.

“But let this be a lesson to you,” she continued, “So that way if you ever come into a double insulated pan, make sure you get all the water out of it or else it will explode all over you.”

The reliever has been stellar in the postseason, going 3-0 with 34 Ks in six games. His most recent performance was his best.

Glauber entered an elimination game in the College World Series finals with his team leading 4-2. He was called upon following an injury to starter Ryan Lynch.

Glauber threw five frames of one-hit baseball, keeping the Sooners off the scoreboard to force a decisive rubber match.

Now, a user on TikTok has gone viral after voicing a frustration apparently shared by flight attendants: people who get up as soon as the flight lands. Here’s why commenters say the issue is more complicated than it seems.

What Happened On This Flight?

In a video with over 4.5 million views, TikTok user MJ (@the_mannii) seems to record an announcement from a flight attendant.

As soon as a chime indicates the “fasten seatbelt” sign has been turned off, a flight attendant hops onto the intercom.

“All right, hurry up, jump up, grab everything—and go nowhere,” the flight attendant says. A few laughs can be heard from the cabin. After this announcement, the flight attendant goes through the normal, procedural post-landing steps.

“This flight attendant deserves a raise,” MJ writes in the text overlaying the video.

While MJ makes this video seem like an original recording, this audio has been floating around the internet for months before he posted it. Still, its virality and repeated reinterpretation show that it’s a sentiment that resonates with many people. But why?

Why Do People Stand Up Right When The Plane Lands?

When polled, Americans say that this behavior is rude. In a 2024 YouGov poll, around half of respondents considered it “unacceptable” to stand up immediately after the plane lands. A 2023 poll from travel website KAYAK also found that 67% of travelers claimed getting up right when the seatbelt sign turned off was pointless.

But if that’s the case, why do so many people do it? In a Reddit thread on the topic, one of the primary reasons cited for early standing was simply to stretch one’s legs. However, that’s not the only reason.

Some say they enjoy the feeling of progress—as in, they see standing as the next logical step to reaching their destination. Others claimed that, by standing and getting ready, they allow everyone to exit the airplane more efficiently. A 2025 article in PEOPLE further stated that some people stand simply because they have a tight connection. Standing allows them to exit the plane more quickly.

Millions of bees created a terrifying scene after they were released when a semi carrying hives overturned in southwest Texas on Sunday morning.

A reported 50,000 pounds of bees escaped when the semi failed to negotiate a turn on Colony Lane in Mauriceville. While first responders tried to gather local beekeepers to help capture the bees and move them to another truck, locals were advised to stay inside their homes.

“Everyone that lives in the 1130/Colony Dr. area please remain indoors. An 18 wheeler carrying beehives has turned over and there is a heavy presence of bees in the area OCSO and ESD4 units are on scene,” Orange County Emergency Services District #4 warned.

An estimated 2 million bees escaped in the crash. Christie Ray of Queen Bee Supply posted pictures of beekeepers and first responders working to secure the accident scene and collect the insects.

“Not something you ever want to see, but so nice to see beekeepers helping beekeepers. From commercial outfits to backyard beekeepers, grateful for everyone that came out and helped!” she wrote on Facebook, along with the very appropriate hashtag #notforthefaintofheart.

KFDM News reported that a bee stung one of its photographers while he was getting video from the scene. Other than that, no one else reported any injuries.

A similar incident involving bees happened recently in North Dakota

Less than two months ago, another semi crash released nearly two million bees in North Dakota. In that incident, the bees stung the driver hundreds of times.

The bees were in the 600 to 800 hives that the semi was transporting in its trailer. The hives separated from the trailer during the rollover, releasing the bees.

Once out of the truck’s cab, the driver ran to the nearby Sheyenne River to try to get away from the stinging insects. Barnes County Ambulance eventually took him to Mercy Hospital in Valley City for treatment of hundreds of stings.

No charges were filed against New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith following accusations from a woman on social media, according to a recent report.

Police closed the case after an investigation into the allegations. An ex-girlfriend came to his defense in an attempt to “kill that narrative.”

Smith should now be able to focus on football following the off-field drama. Here’s everything you need to know about the situation.

Geno Smith was accused of assault.

A clip of the NFL passer was posted on Instagram over the weekend alleging an altercation between Smith and a woman that goes by “@EverythingKrisxo.”

“Today is the DAY!” the caption read. “GENO SMITH beat my a– cause he HATES taking care of his special needs kid and can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch p— online and play Call of Duty.”

The video quickly went viral online. The woman allegedly pressed charges leading to a probe by law enforcement.

Police can be seen in the video speaking with the quarterback. According to Andy Slater of Fox Sports, no charges will be filed.

The woman referenced Geno Smith’s son, Seven, in the clip. She is not the mother of the child.

Seven’s mom, who goes by “@eethr” on Instagram, responded to the claims. She backed the quarterback amid the accusations.

The ex posted a photo of Smith and Seven to support her claim. She insists he has done nothing to warrant the allegations of neglect.

Seven was born in July of 2019. Smith commemorated the birth with an update on social media.

Smith was acquired by the Jets in a trade with the Raiders this offseason. He will now return for a second stint in the Big Apple.

The quarterback struggled last year in Las Vegas, going 2-13 with a league-high 17 interceptions. That came after a largely successful run with the Seahawks.

In his first go-round with the Jets, Smith went 12-18 across four seasons with 28 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. He now joins a QB room with Cade Klubnik, Brady Cook, and Bailey Zappe.

Ordering a Starbucks isn’t a decision to be taken lightly. However, one thing this TikToker didn’t expect was for their barista to seemingly mock them for how they ordered—leading them to go viral on the app.

Starbucks customers often go viral on TikTok, whether due to their absurdly unhealthy order choice or discovering too late that there’s actual mold in their order.

However, for TikToker Mr Burgies (@mrburgies), it’s less about what he ordered, and more about how he ordered it.

The video, which has amassed 5.2 million views, shows the creator looking at his drink in confusion before the camera pans to the order screen. It shows the name “Um Uh Paul” under the “received” section. He then shows his drink to the camera, which has “Um uh Paul” written on the label.

“POV: You stutter at Starbucks and they add the ‘Um Uh’ to your order,” on-screen text reads.

In the video description, he added, “They put the stutter in my name.”

BroBible reached out to Mr Burgies and Starbucks via email.

Largely, commenters were amused, with staff and customers alike sharing their own stories.

“I work at Starbucks and if you say ‘uh’ in front of your name I’m writing it in idk,” one commenter wrote.

“My name is Daisy but some how got Jay Z,” a second added.

“I said ‘Madison’ and they wrote ‘Medicine’,” a third revealed.

Do Starbucks Baristas Mess Up Order Names On Purpose?

For over a decade, Starbucks has become notorious for spelling people’s names incorrectly on customers’ coffee cups. But rather than this being a sign of poor penmanship, some internet conspiracy theorists claim that Starbucks actually does this deliberately. The idea is that, by messing up order names, people will post about it, which provides Starbies with a lot of free advertising.

However, Starbucks staff have denied this when directly asked on the r/Starbucks subreddit. “I would love if I had so much free time that I could think about how to creatively misspell names,” one Redditor put. “It’s just hard to hear and the on screen keyboard is horrible. Plus some people just can’t spell.”

“I am not gonna lie, my brain sometimes just forgets how to spell a lot of names in the moment when asking a customer for their name,” another added.

But think about it for a second. By making a humorous addition to Mr Burgie’s name on the order screen, the establishment has, once again, gone viral. Poultney will forgo the 2026 high school football season in the state of Vermont. Its players are now free to transfer to its rival.

This decision stems from a lack of athletes on the roster.

The goal is for the high school football program to return in the next few years. It would not be safe to try and play this fall.

Poultney doesn’t have enough high school football players.

Poultney High School is located in the southwestern part of the Green Mountain State right on the border of New York. Chartered in 1761, its total population hovers around 3,000 residents.

According to the U.S. News and World Report, Poultney High School enrolls less than 200 students in grades 9-12. The Blue Devils compete in Division III of the Vermont Principals’ Association. Their high school football team won only six games in the last six years, including two 0-8 seasons. It last finished with a winning record in 2019 when it won a state championship.

Things have changed since the pandemic. Participation is way down.

Poultney’s recent struggles stem from a severe lack of players. It had only 16(ish) athletes in total on the roster last season. That essentially meant that six players had to play the entire game on both sides of the ball. There were only five substitutes.

Technically speaking, the governing body of high school sports in Vermont does not have a minimum requirement for total number of players on a team. It could be as few as 11. That decision is left to the schools. According to Poultney athletic director Marc Dudsak, a school needs 20-25 players to safely field a varsity football program.

The Blue Devils do not have 20-25 players on the roster for 2026. As a result of the roster issues, as first reported by Nathaniel Wilson, Poultney High School decided to forgo the 2026 football season. The district will instead focus on building its middle school roster to eventually feed into the high school. It hopes for a return of the varsity program in a few years.

Athletes are allowed to play for a rival program!

In past years, football players from West Ruthland and Proctor played for Poultney because neither high school had a team of its own. That is not possible in 2026 because the Blue Devils are not going to play.

Therefore, any high school football player from West Ruthland, Proctor and Poultney who wants to compete in 2026 will be allowed to do so at Fair Haven. Fair Haven, located ~7 miles up the road from Poultney, is one of Poultney’s biggest rivals.

Per Wilson, only rising Poultney senior Kole Lynch decided to make the move. He grew up playing youth football with most of the Fair Haven kids until they were split off by district zoning. Now he will join the rival program for his last year of high school.

If the Blue Devils are not able to return to the gridiron in future years, this could be a permanent arrangement. It would be students from West Ruthland, Proctor, Poultney and Fair Haven on the same team.

This past weekend, police charged a Miami-area man with a felony after he allegedly hit a fellow softball player with a bat during a brawl that broke out at a game in Aventura, Florida. Aventura police reported that the altercation occurred during a softball league game at Waterways Park.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, a verbal altercation between the teams resulted in pushing and shoving between “multiple players,” according to the authorities. Police said that during the altercation, one of the softball players struck the victim in the back of the head with a metal bat.

CCTV footage, according to the authorities, showed the man hitting the victim with the bat, causing the victim’s baseball cap to pop off. Emergency personnel took the victim to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital as a trauma alert patient.

Local 10 News reported that authorities charged the man who allegedly swung the bat with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

On June 1, NBC New York stated that police arrested a Long Island man for hitting another man in the head with a bat after a fight broke out during a rec league softball game on a Sunday afternoon.

According to Nassau County police, the argument started during a game at Cedar Creek Park on Merrick Road in Seaford, when a dispute between the two squads became heated.

Police added that during the altercation, one of the players struck another man in the head with a softball bat. The 34-year-old victim had to be taken to the hospital.

According to authorities, they took the alleged bat swinger into custody at the park and charged him with fourth-degree weapon possession and second-degree assault.

Major League Baseball’s owners and players are in the midst of exchanging proposals that each side knows the other will never approve. It’s called “collective bargaining.” It’s also annoying.

Almost none of it is productive. Both sides just get angry with one another, and fans, who have no say in any of it, are left feeling frustrated.

The Major League Baseball owners’ latest proposal that the players will never accept involves the annual amateur draft.

In it, the MLB owners want to make all high school players ineligible for the draft. They also want to make it so no American-born players are eligible until they turn 20-years-old.

They made this suggestion knowing that last year’s number one overall pick Eli Willits was 17-years-old. They also did it knowing that players like Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, Bobby Witt Jr., Manny Machado, Christian Yelich, and Freddie Freeman were all drafted straight out of high school.

Also in the owners’ proposal is making 12 rounds instead of 20, and implementing a 12-round international draft for players from outside of the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. In that draft, the minimum age for players to sign would go from 16 to 18-years-old.

“Over the last several years, college baseball has undergone a remarkable transformation,” Front Office Sports reports the league said. “Expanded scholarships, NIL opportunities, revenue sharing, and significant investments in facilities and player development have made college baseball an increasingly important pathway that is producing major league-ready talent at an accelerated rate.”

In other words, Major League Baseball owners want to put the cost of player development more on colleges and less on themselves.

One of those players who was drafted out of high school called the proposal ‘ridiculous’

This past Friday, when a reporter informed one of those players who was drafted out of high school, Freddie Freeman, about the owners’ amateur draft proposal, his reply, according to the New York Post, was, “What?”

When it was explained to him again, he responded, “I think maybe now the fans will start seeing that it’s just money. Because that’s just cutting. It’s all about money.” He also called it “ridiculous.”

“I loved coming out of high school,” he added. “It got me into the professional ranks. It got me into being able to develop into that organization and how they expect you to play. They believed in you at such a young age.”

Freddie Freeman’s teammate Mookie Betts, another one of those players drafted out of high school, echoed those sentiments.

“That meant the world to me,” Betts said. “I feel like I developed faster, just because I was in it at 18. The younger you can get into it, the quicker you can develop to [the pro] game. Because this game is different than the college game. I’m not saying either one is better or worse, but I just feel like that was my advantage. I got to learn a professional style of baseball at 18.”

Iowa State football fans will be able to purchase beer at Jack Trice Stadium this fall. Athletic Director Jamie Pollard announced the change in a recent letter to the school’s supporters.

The move, according to administration, will be used to offset “rapidly increasing costs” in one of the “most transformational periods in the history of college athletics.”

Pollard had previously voiced his opposition of beer sales at sporting events. The NIL landscape has changed his thinking. The Cyclones will hop on board in order to compete with Big 12 rivals.

Iowa State will sell beer.

The beer sales come with the typical restrictions. ID checks, beverage limits, and designated stop times will apply. One of the most notable changes for Iowa State football fans relates to the ability to leave and re-enter the stadium.

Previously, fans could come and go at their own will. That provided the ability to slam a cheap beer or two at the tailgate during halftime while waiting for the game to resume.

That will no longer be an option. Fans must remain in their seats for the entirety of the contest. Those that leave will be denied re-entry.

If you want to drink during the game, you must buy beer in the stadium. That is a drawback for those looking to save a buck. It’s a win for the university’s athletic programs.

AD Jamie Pollard confirms Iowa State will now do something he said would not happen on his watch: sell alcohol. The need for additional revenue streams is the main reason.

The Cyclones need the money.

Pollard said as much in his letter to fans. The football program is entering a new era following a mass exodus. It needs the funds for a quick rebuild.

Head coach Matt Campbell bolted for Penn State after the 2025 season. Fifty-five players subsequently left the program through the transfer portal. Nearly half followed Campbell to State College.

Iowa State replaced that talent as quickly as possible upon signing new coach Jimmy Rogers, who came from Washington State.

The large majority of incoming transfers hail from the G5 or FCS.

It’s unlikely that the Cyclones will compete for a Big 12 title in Rogers’ first season. They’re currently projected to finish in the cellar of the standings. They’ll need higher level players to achieve consistent success. That starts with NIL.

Beer sales will be used to support those efforts. It’s been proven as a viable revenue stream.

Rival Iowa raked in more than $3 million in its first year selling beer at sporting events. The Hawkeyes topped that number two years later by hitting $3.2 million for football alone.

There are negatives, some of which were on display during Iowa’s loss to Oregon last year. Still, the school reports that alcohol related incidents are down since the introduction of beer sales.

The people of Ames, Iowa like to imbibe. A 24/7 Wall St. list ranks the city as the 19th-drunkest in the US. It tops the list for Big 12 campuses.

Iowa State hopes to profit off of that affinity for boozing. It could have direct impacts on the football rebuild. The beer sales will come at a higher cost for fans, but the benefits will outweigh the drawbacks if the Cyclones produce on the field.

Guatemala’s Volcán de Fuego erupted last week and sent hikers scurrying in fear with lava spewing from the top of the active volcano. It had last erupted in June 2025 so Volcán de Fuego was overdue and this Summer’s volcano eruption was one for the ages.

YouTube/content creator Sebastian Schieren was flying a drone around the top of Volcán de Fuego, also known as Chi Q’aq’, near Antigua, Guatemala when the volcano erupted. His resulting footage was nothing short of mind blowing.

While much has been made about the falling debris and ash in the surrounding area and tourists fleeing while trying to dodge it, the close-up footage of the eruption is what I find most surreal. The fact that the drone managed to survive this volcano eruption and the footage was salvaged is surreal. It is as if they hit the ‘LAUNCH’ button at the perfect time.

An earlier video from Sebastian Schieren shot with his DJI Avata 360 camera shows how much debris was in the area. All it would have taken is a tiny glob of molten hot lava/rock to melt a crucial piece of the drone and send it careening back down to earth and the footage would have been lost. But they managed to fly it out of there in one piece and that alone deserves some respect.

Hikers Feeling For Safety

During the Volcán de Fuego eruption, not everyone was at a safe distance when everything went sideways. As a very active volcano, Volcán de Fuego sees between 70,000 to 150,000 tourists each year, or a few hundred each day.

With those kinds of numbers, there were lots of people around when the volcano erupted and this woman captured footage of them fleeing down the volcano as rock debris rained down upon them. They thankfully made it out of there safely and got this incredible video clip in the process:

According to a 2025 article from Civitatis, Guatemala’s Volcán de Fuego is the 6th most visited active volcano on earth. Spanish explorer Pedro de Alvarado witnessed the volcano erupt in 1524 and has been known to Western civilization ever since.

The volcano sits high, at an elevation of 12,362 feet with a prominence of 1,539 feet. This recent eruption marks the 7th time Volcán de Fuego has erupted since 2018. So if you are in search of an active volcano to visit this is a great place to start!

Lars Tiffany will not return to coach college lacrosse at Virginia.

Lars Tiffany was hired as the head lacrosse coach at the University of Virginia in 2017. His decade-long tenure with the program was an overwhelming success. The Cavaliers won “back-to-back” national championships in 2019 and 2021 and reached the Final Four in 2023 and 2024. They made the postseason in seven of nine seasons.

However, Virginia finished below .500 in 2025 and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2026 after a difficult start to the year that included an upset loss to Towson. It was a frustrating result for a team that expects to compete for a national title.

And then Tiffany was “let go” about two weeks later.

The administration in Charlottesville thanked the legendary coach for his contributions to the program and later hired top assistant Kevin Cassese as his successor. That was the end of it. Tiffany was out after 10 years.

Nobody saw it coming. Not even the head coach himself.

Tiffany had already met with the individual players on his roster to start planning for 2027. It was his understanding that he was employed through 2029. He thought he had signed a three-year contract extension in late March to stay with Virginia.

The Cavaliers say otherwise. They claim the extension was not valid. They chose not to renew his deal. He was not fired.

A new legal filing seeks compensation for the signed contract extension.

As first reported by Dan Arestia, Lars Tiffany is taking legal action against Virginia. He filed a declaratory judgement action against the university that seeks $1.4 million in financial compensation.

The university offered him a three-year contract extension in the summer of 2025. There was a little bit of back and forth chatter about a fourth year but it never came to fruition. Tiffany ultimately signed and returned the three-year extension to the university, using the same process used for his first extension. It was not any different from 2021.

Virginia does not agree. The Cavaliers contend that the initial discussion surrounding the addition of a fourth year to his contract was a counter offer. The counter offer made their initial three-year offer invalid so, even though Tiffany signed and returned the offer sheet, it does not need to be honored. They do not owe him any additional money.

The new legal filing takes the opposite position.

Tiffany alleges that Deputy Athletic Director Steve Pritzker reached out to Tiffany’s agent at the time of his signing to say that a mistake had been made and asked Tiffany to rescind the acceptance of his extension. Tiffany did not rescind his acceptance.

As a result, he expected to return as the head coach through 2029— or to be fired and to receive a pay out. That did not happen.

Tiffany’s lawsuit claims that his signed offer sheet was still valid because neither he nor his agent made a formal counter offer. Nor was the offer sheet rescinded. Nor did he rescind the acceptance of the offer. So if Virginia still wants to let him go, fine, but it owes him the compensation that was outlined in the signed offer sheet.

A formal statement:

My family and I are deeply saddened to be leaving the University of Virginia and the men’s lacrosse program that we love so dearly.

Working at UVA never felt like a job; it was a privilege and a gift. The relationships we have built with our student-athletes, alumni, supporters, and the Charlottesville community will remain among the most meaningful experiences of our lives.

Earlier this year, I signed a three-year contract extension with the University. Unfortunately, the University has now informed us that it does not intend to honor that agreement.

We made every effort to resolve this matter privately and amicably. Litigation was never our goal. Unfortunately, after being advised that the University was preparing to seek declaratory relief regarding the contract, my family and I were left with no meaningful alternative but to protect our rights through the legal process.

It is with a heavy heart that we find ourselves in this position. Going to court is the last thing we wanted. We had hoped to conclude this chapter with gratitude, respect, and mutual appreciation for everything we accomplished together.

However, I have an obligation to my family and to the commitments that were made. While we are disappointed that this dispute could not be resolved without litigation, we remain proud of what we built at Virginia and grateful for the players, families, alumni, and supporters who made this journey so special.

Who Is Jagmeet Singh?

Jagmeet Singh was born in Tanda village in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district. He only started playing basketball in 2022, but has quickly developed into one of India’s most promising young prospects at the Ludhiana Basketball Academy.

He currently resides in the Chicago area, where he performs for college recruiters and scouts while attending camps and playing with programs like AR Elite, according to Fadeaway World. Additionally, he has represented India, competing in Doha, Qatar, at the FIBA Under-16 Asia Championship.

Major recruiting services such as ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports do not yet have Singh ranked, but that will surely change if he continues to impress the way he did at the Courtside Camp.

Wydham Clark won the US Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, much to the dismay of those in attendance. The New York crowd was raucous. It did not want to see him hoist the trophy.

Patrons actively rooted for Clark’s downfall. He welcomed his role as villain. The golfer says he used the negativity as fuel for victory. He’d also prepared himself for the hostility a week prior.

Clark played in the RBC Canadian Open just days before his US Open win. He intentionally riled up the fans to create an unfriendly atmosphere.

It paid off. While he wouldn’t win in his stay north of the border, he used the experience to quiet his haters in New York.

The golfer was heckled mercilessly in Southampton. He was enemy No. 1 being paired with fan favorite Scottie Scheffler in the final round.

The scene was ugly.

Fans cheered bad shots. “Don’t choke, Wyndham,” chants echoed throughout the course. Many believed it crossed the line.

“I’ve never seen an American player on American soil get so jeered … I’ve never seen anybody have to deal with that element in a major championship to the extent that I saw him have to deal with it today.”

New York Police intervened to eject a number of hecklers on Sunday. Things got so bad that Clark’s sports psychologist walked off the course. She couldn’t endure the hate.

Clark handled it with class. He understood the response. Fans wanted to see Scheffler complete the Grand Slam. He denied them of that opportunity.

Clark emerged victorious despite the crowd. After the win, he opened up on the environment.

Clark used his haters as motivation. He made it his goal to quiet the crowd at Shinnecock Hills.

It’s something he’s grown accustomed to doing of late. Following his outburst at last year’s US Open, he’s received negative attention. His temper has caused fans to turn against him.

With that said, he’s fully embraced his role as villain. Just last week in Canada, he intentionally antagonized attendees.

Wyndham Clark donned a US Hockey jersey at the RBC Canadian Open. It landed criticism from patrons following the US’s gold medal triumph over Canada in the Winter Olympics.

Clark embraced the negative reaction. He then sank a birdie putt to quiet the crowd while sporting the top.

The golfer says he used that moment as preparation to do the same at the US Open. It worked to perfection as he banked a $4.5 million payday in New York.

Scientists have found unexpected “signs of life” inside a 5,300-year-old mummified “ice man” preserved by a glacier in the Otztal Alps.

Hikers found the mummy, dubbed Ötzi the Iceman, in a glacier in the Alps near the border between Italy and Austria in 1991.

Initially, researchers thought he died from exposure or exhaustion while traveling across the Alps, but subsequent tests revealed an arrowhead lodged in his left shoulder, indicating it was more likely that he bled to death. The testing also revealed that it dates back to approximately 3300 B.C.

Recent research has now uncovered genetic remnants of bacteria from Otzi’s ancient gut microbiome and cold-adapted yeasts. Using tissue samples, swabs, and genetic analysis, they also distinguished between bacteria that colonized Otzi’s body after his death and those that were present when he was alive.

These discoveries shed some light on life in the Copper Age

The results of the research, published in the journal Microbiome, provide fresh perspectives on the remarkable survival abilities of microbes in extremely cold environments and the long-term preservation of ancient relics and remains.

These ancient gut microbes also provide insight into Otzi’s life, as researchers discovered certain bacterial species associated with high-fiber diets and pre-industrial lifestyles that have either become uncommon or have completely vanished in recent times.

Researchers found newly discovered yeasts in skin samples, meltwater inside the mummy, and in its stomach contents. That means that these extremely specialized organisms adapted to the cold. Genetic tests also revealed that they are similar to strains found in extremely cold places, such as Antarctica. This implies that the yeasts originated in glacial environments and may have been with the mummy for thousands of years.

“The coexistence of ancient, endogenous gut microbes and modern, psychrophilic colonizers highlights the potential for ongoing microbial activity even at sub-zero temperatures,” the researchers wrote. “These findings underscore that maintaining strict environmental parameters is essential to prevent these specialized microbial communities from transitioning from latent persistence to active microorganisms.”

Plenty of highly-touted players who’ve been picked near the top ended up being a bust, and there are also more than a few who flew below the radar only to have an incredibly impressive career.

These are the best players who surpassed expectations after being selected in the NBA Draft

Every team hopes to use the NBA Draft to acquire a player who’s capable of having a major impact on the franchise, but with the exception of some truly generational talents, identifying guys who can check that box is not an easy task.

If you need proof, there are plenty of examples concerning prospects who probably should have been picked higher in hindsight based on what they were able to achieve in the league.

Nikola Jokic: 41st Overall (2014)

I’m not necessarily listing these in any particular order, but if I were, there’s zero doubt Nikola Jokic would be at the top.

ESPN was somewhat famously running a Taco Bell commercial when the Nuggets selected the Serbian big man in the second round in 2014, and it’s safe to say that selection was a bit of an afterthought at the time.

However, it turned out to be incredibly consequential for the franchise that landed a man who’s won three MVP awards, been selected to the All-Star Game on seven occasions, and led the team to its first and only championship in 2023.

Manu Ginobili: 57th Overall (1999)

It took NBA teams longer than it probably should have to realize there was a ton of overlooked talent in other countries, and the Spurs were pretty ahead of the curve when it came to capitalizing on that untapped potential.

Manu Ginobili initially made a name for himself in his native Argentina before heading to Italy to continue his pro career, and the Spurs thought his athleticism was enough to justify the decision to use what seemed like it was going to be a throwaway pick in 1999.

The sharpshooter made his NBA debut with the team in 2002 and spent the entirety of his 16-year career with San Antonio while serving as a reliable sixth man who won four titles.

Tony Parker: 28th Overall (2001)

The Spurs pulled another coup on the international front a couple of years after landing Ginobili, as Tony Parker also flew under the radar before they got him at the end of the first round in 2001.

The Frenchman (who also spent 16 years in San Antonio before capping off his NBA career in Charlotte) was a six-time All-Star who played a pivotal role in the four championships he won as a Spur thanks to his ability to score and get the ball to his teammates so they could do the same.

Jimmy Butler: 30th Overall (2011)

The first three guys on this list were overlooked thanks in no small part to the fact that they didn’t hail from the United States, but that can’t be said for the draft steals who ended up surpassing expectations after coming out of college.

That includes Jimmy Butler, who had a solid career at Marquette but wasn’t really mentioned alongside the likes of Kyrie Irving, Derrick Williams, Tristan Thompson, and the other guys viewed as the top talents in the draft class in 2011.

However, he’s firmly outshone everyone but the first man on that list since the Bulls got him at the end of the first round as a six-time All-Star who carried the Heat to multiple NBA Finals appearances.

Draymond Green: 35th Overall (2012)

Draymond Green averaged a double-double during his senior year at Michigan State, but concerns he was too undersized to hold his own to the NBA undoubtedly contributed to him slipping to the start of the second round before the Warriors scooped him up.

That ended up being a very positive development for Golden State, and Green’s defensive prowess made him a cornerstone of the dynasty the franchise built with the help of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson while racking up four championships.

Dennis Rodman: 27th Overall (1986)

It’s pretty easy to understand why Dennis Rodman fell to the end of the first round of the draft in 1986.

He was an undersized high schooler who barely got any playing time before undergoing a growth spurt that helped him earn a spot on the team at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, an overlooked NAIA program that nonetheless ended up on Detroit’s radar thanks to The Worm.

He won a couple of championships with the “Bad Boy” Pistons before getting three more with the Bulls and retiring after cementing himself as one of the most formidable rebounders in basketball history.

Marc Gasol: 48th Overall (2008)

Pau Gasol had already spent a few years with the Grizzlies and won Rookie of the Year when the Lakers selected his younger brother Marc with the 48th pick in 2008, which resulted in the trade that sent the former to Los Angeles as Memphis secured the rights to the latter.

The Lakers obviously benefited from that move based on Pau’s contributions during their back-to-back title runs in 2009 and 2010, but the Grizzlies also ended up getting a franchise player and three-time All-Star who was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2013.

Isaiah Thomas: 60th Overall (2011)

Isaiah Thomas was seemingly destined to live in the shadow of the Isiah Thomas he was named after, but he managed to do a pretty good job living up to that legacy while defying the odds.

The 5’9″ guard became the NBA version of Mr. Irrelevant when the Kings selected him with the final pick in the draft in 2011, but he quickly emerged as a valuable contributor and really came into his own during the two years he spent with the Celtics beginning in 2015.

The journeyman, who played for ten different teams, was an All-Star during both of his seasons with Boston and is easily the best player who’s gone last overall.

Khris Middleton: 39th Overall (2012)

The Pistons nabbed Khris Middleton out of Texas A&M in 2012, but he only spent a year in Detroit before he was traded to the Bucks in the offseason in 2013.

He almost doubled the average point total he posted during his rookie year after making his debut with Milwaukee, and his game continued to improve as he emerged as a weapon who helped the Bucks win a championship in 2021 while complementing the talents of another steal in the form of…

Giannis Antetokounmpo: 15th Overall (2013)

We’re heading back to the international player well with The Greek Freak, who is ushering the section of the list devoted to guys who were picked toward the first half of the first round but still ended up being a huge steal based on the impact they ended up having.

Giannis took a few years to find his footing in the NBA, but he got the first of the nine All-Star Team selections he’s earned so far in 2017 during a breakout season where the two-time MVP put the league he’s continued to dominate since then on notice.

Kawhi Leonard: 15th Overall (2011)

Oh look, it’s another steal who ended up on the Spurs.

The Pacers were actually the team that picked San Diego State standout Kawhi Leonard with the 15th selection in 2011, but he was traded to San Antonio in what turned out to be a very lopsided deal.

It took him a few years to come into his own, but he’d firmly done that by the time he was named NBA Finals MVP in 2014.

The two-time champion soon emerged as one of the best players in the league and got another Finals MVP award after leading the Raptors to a title in 2019.

John Stockton: 16th Overall (1984)

The Jazz made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history in 1984 after a string of dismal seasons, but they really managed to turn the corner with two draft steals they got in back-to-back years.

Karl Malone: 15th Overall (1985)

The Jazz outdid themselves in 1985 by opting to use the 13th pick to get Karl Malone out of Louisiana Tech, who spent 18 seasons in Utah while cementing himself as one of the all-time greats.

The Mailman was a two-time MVP and 14-time All-Star who retired with the second-most points in NBA history after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (he’s now third thanks to LeBron James), and while the Jazz were never able to win a title, they were one of the best teams in the NBA for over a decade thanks to that dynamic duo.

Steve Nash: 15th Overall (1996)

Steve Nash got his first taste of the spotlight when he helped 15th-seeded Santa Clara upset Arizona in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 1993, and he’d emerged as the star of the team by the time he wrapped up his senior season.

However, he was still a relative unknown in a 1996 draft class that boasted college stars including Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, and Stephon Marbury, who went near the top while Nash ended up going to the Suns with the 15th pick.

Phoenix made a bit of an unforced error by trading him to the Mavericks in 1998, and the point guard emerged as a force to be reckoned with during his time in Dallas.

He returned to the Suns as a free agent in 2004 and promptly won back-to-back MVP awards, and while he was never able to get a ring, he more than earned a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Kobe Bryant: 13th Overall (1996)

Steve Nash wasn’t the only steal in the draft in 1996, as the Lakers also got one a couple of picks ahead of him when they decided to go with a high schooler named Kobe Bryant.

I probably don’t need to tell you how that ended up working out for Los Angeles, as the legendary point guard ended his career with five rings, an MVP award, and a staggering 18 All-Star Game selections.

Last year, Donald Trump managed to cause a bit of an international incident when he asserted the United States was seriously inclined to take over Greenland. A new report has shed some light on the American officials who were tasked with putting together a plan to achieve that goal, including one man who pointed to all-you-can-eat shrimp at Red Lobster as a motivating factor.

In the 10th century, the Norwegian explorer known as Erik the Red was exiled from Iceland and hopped on a ship that took him to the island he dubbed Greenland, where he established a number of settlements on the rocky and icy expanse that did not reflect the name he chose in the hopes of growing its population.

It spent centuries as an afterthought in the geopolitical landscape, and that was largely still the case when it was declared a colony of Denmark in 1814. Its status was shifted to a state in 1953, and while it is still technically a part of that country’s kingdom, it has served as a self-governing territory since the end of the 1970s.

In 2025, Greenland was thrust into the international spotlight when Donald Trump championed a push to annex the country before implying the United States would go as far as to stage a military invasion to seize control. Those plans (and threats) did not come to fruition, but we’ve gotten a glimpse at what was going down behind the scenes—which includes an unexpected subplot involving Red Lobster.

A member of the Trump administration suggested Red Lobster could bring back all-you-can-eat shrimp if the United States took control of Greenland

Last week, The New Yorker published an in-depth retrospective of the so-called “Greeland crisis,” which chronicled the “ludicrous, deadly serious plan” to add it to America’s geographic portfolio.

Many people initially laughed off the president’s comments concerning a potential takeover, but the report highlights the officials who were tasked with figuring out a way to make his dreams a reality. That includes Tom Dans, who has served as the chair of the United States Arctic Research Commission since he was appointed to the role last December.

Trump framed Greenland as an attractive target due to its location in the Atlantic Ocean and its supply of rare-earth minerals. However, during a conversation with the magazine, Dans highlighted another potential upside by turning his attention to the potential resurrection of a popular promotion at a struggling seafood chain, saying:

“My view is that the United States could take all the seafood Greenland could produce, and cut out the middleman, and keep it from China—and you could bring back all-you-can-eat shrimp at Red Lobster.”

It turns out America did not need to take control of Greenland for that special to return, as Red Lobster announced Endless Shrimp was coming back for a limited time back in April. The promo, which reportedly played a role in its bankruptcy in 2024, is still available as of this writing, although the company’s website warns it is “ending soon.”

Flash forward a few days and Norway is set to face Senegal today/Monday. Senegal is ranked 17th in the world according to FIFA’s Men’s Rankings and a considerably tougher opponent than Iraq. So the Norway faithful turned out in full force to support the team.

Now imagine for a second you are a New Yorker who works in/around the theater district and have the incredible misfortune of walking through Times Square to get to and from work each day. But you step out of the subway and see this… Might be the best day ever? Seeing these Norway fans rowing is infinitely cooler than the thousands upon thousands of tourists there every day who all act as if it is their first day on planet earth and they don’t know how to walk on sidewalks.

It was brutal Sunday for Wyndham Clark, until it wasn’t. The 54-hole leader entered the final round of the U.S. Open with a six-shot lead. He only won the tournament by one. The two-time champion nearly suffered the greatest collapse in history.

First and foremost, Clark did not play well. His lead was down to a single shot after just five holes. The amount of stress that weighed on his shoulders only continued to increase as he came down the back stretch. It all came down to the last three holes.

Brandel Chamblee said that he has never seen an American player get so jeered on American soil.

Wyndham Clark is known to be something of a mental midget. His sports psychologist, Julie Elion, was a big talking point of the U.S. Open. NBC even featured her on the broadcast throughout the weekend. (Way more often than the fans would’ve liked.)

However, she could not handle the heat herself. Elion actually had to leave the course because of the crowd.

Perhaps this is why Clark struggles so much with his mental game. The woman who is tasked with helping him to stay cool, calm and collected basically quit on him during his biggest moment. That is not the kind of psychologist that I would want in my corner.

Authorities have jailed a man after he earned hundreds of thousands of dollars by doing assignments and taking exams for more than 120 students at Liverpool John Moore’s University. Law enforcement discovered the fraud while the 43-year-old man was leading an opulent lifestyle with several million dollars in his bank accounts.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, the man would obtain the pass codes from students at Liverpool John Moore’s University (LJMU) and complete coursework, assignments, and online examinations for them in return for payment. Police suspect that he may have done this sort of thing for 124 students at universities around the world.

How did police catch him?

Det. Sgt. Adam Dagnall, from Merseyside Police’s cyber dependant crime unit, told the BBC that a university lecturer was largely responsible for the man being caught.

Dagnall told BBC Radio Merseyside that it happened after a lecturer saw additional folders on a USB thumb drive that a computer forensics student had used to turn in assignments. The former owner had unintentionally transferred a variety of data onto the drive.

“Within that folder were other students’ names, their coursework and exams they were sitting, dates… and some monetary values,” said Dagnall.

The files also contained private login information. After further investigation, Dagnall said it was “quite obvious” that the files contained the names of students who had paid the man to take their exams.

Dagnall added that enquiries confirmed that the man “was able to log into student accounts and complete assessments for them with evidence of payments to him from students.”

He had over $3 million in his bank accounts

At the time of his arrest, the man was working as an Amazon Flex delivery driver. However, he owned two cars, an Audi and a BMW, and he had three bank accounts and a PayPal account with over $3.26 million in them.

Prosecutors charged him with counts of fraud by false representation, causing a computer to perform a function to secure or enable unauthorized access to program data, and money laundering. The court sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment on June 17.

“He created complex audit trails with his bank accounts to try and avoid detection and lived a lavish lifestyle to use up the money he made and avoid having to pay it back,” Senior Crown Prosecutor Andrew Madden of CPS Mersey Cheshire said. “He is a fraudster who wanted more than his declared employment could give him, so he turned to crime and tried to outwit the authorities.

Lasse Jonas Lund, a Norwegian who spent his teen years living in Mumbai, is going massively viral on social media

According to Lund, he was “lost between borders” after his father moved back to Norway and his mother was imprisoned overstaying her visa, forcing him to live on the streets of Mumbai between the ages of 11 and 17.

Lund claims that government authorities and officials failed to support him with his return to Norway, which resulted in him doing manual labor in factories to survive. The 33-year-old has now returned to India to film a documentary about his story.

“I was lost between borders. Norwegian citizen, born in Norway, stuck in India living on the streets, surviving, being a tourist guide, smoking on the f—— roads. Don’t you think I wanna get some kind of justice from the government?” Lund explained in the original viral clip.

“When I’m 33 years old, have zero schooling? They haven’t done s— that they were supposed to do. The Finnish Embassy, when they helped me out of the country, they were supposed to report me to the children services because I was under 18. Did they do their job? No, they didn’t do their job. Thanks to them I don’t have f—— nothing,” he continued.

“I even told the Norwegian government once they came back to Norway, I have no school. Then they should have done some kind of research, find out why don’t I have school? What’s the reason? No European… one of the richest countries in the world don’t have schooling. There must be a reason to it. Why they don’t do their f—— background check? Because they know they are in the wrong.”

Subsequent videos of Lund have been clipped and turned into meme reaction videos on social media, with the idiosyncrasy of his accent and mannerisms propelling much of the online attention.

Is Lasse Jonas Lund’s story about being abandoned in India legitimate or made up?

Accused of faking the accent and creating his backstory for attention, Lund told followers during an Instagram Live video that “There’s nothing fake about my story, my life has been f’d up.”

In an interview with Vice, Lund described his upbringing as being “brutal” and said he got by with “tourist guiding” and “hustling on the streets.”

“Whoever the trolls are, I don’t care what they say. It’s my life. I know how I f—— lived. I have people that don’t want me out there telling my story. I’ve had messages from my own family members. I don’t even know who they are or which part of the family they’re from. While I was in Mumbai, after I put out the first videos, they were like, ‘Please, can you take down the post because it’s affecting our family and our name?’ I sent just one message back: ‘F— your name.’ This is my story, and it’s out there.”

Lund’s YouTube page, Unexpected Paths, has since racked up over 20,000 subscribers, and the first chapter of his documentary has almost one million views. His Instagram has over 71,000 followers.

“We never felt there was an European with us. We took care of him as our child,” a man in the video says of Lund.

Dusty May is headed to the NBA.

ESPN broke the story on Monday morning. May, who was hired at Michigan two seasons ago, will accept an offer from the Mavericks.

That move will likely come with a pay raise. Former Dallas head coach Jason Kidd parted ways with the organization after the 2025-26 season. He was still owed $40 million over four remaining years after signing a recent contract extension.

May signed a deal with the Wolverines that made him one of college basketball’s highest paid coaches. His salary was reported at $5.1 million through 2030. He could double his income in the NBA.

Money wasn’t the only factor in May’s decision, though. It’s been widely speculated that he desired a professional job. The ability to coach No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg ultimately swayed him to leave Ann Arbor.

Flagg is the reigning Rookie of the Year. The former Duke star scored 21 points a night in his first NBA season. The allure of coaching the phenom was too enticing to pass up. The Wolverines will now brace for the aftermath.

Michigan won the national championship in May’s second season. Many of those pieces were expected to return in 2026-27 to defend that title. Now, there is doubt.

Will Wolverines transfer?

Dusty May brought boatloads of talent to the program last offseason. Included were transfers Yaxel Lendeborg, Elliot Cadeau, Aday Mara, and Morez Johnson Jr. while the high school class boasted key contributor Trey McKinney.

Three of those players are projected NBA lottery picks. Cadeau and McKinney were expected to return next year, as was underclassman Oscar Goodman.

May also signed a recruiting class this past offseason that ranked No. 2 nationally. Attrition could follow the recent announcement. Some may have been blindsided by the news. Below is May’s outlook on the future in April.

Coaching changes trigger transfer portal movement. Five days after Michigan finds its replacement for Dusty May, a 15-day window will open.

Those that signed with the Wolverines specifically to be coached by May might have second thoughts. Programs that missed on talent over the offseason will be foaming at the mouth.

Kentucky, LSU, and North Carolina immediately come to mind. Those are three major schools that can offer significant NIL deals in hopes of bolstering their rosters.

UNC and LSU are both welcoming new staffs. They were behind the eight-ball a bit in recruiting during their first offseasons. Mark Pope’s whiffs have been well-documented.

Each will have the budget to attract top talent.

Those teams and more will look to poach Michigan players. They’ll have an opportunity to do so with Dusty May moving on.

An American surfer has reportedly died last week while surfing Teahupo’o in Tahiti, French Polynesia. Teahupo’o is one of the most famous big wave breaks on earth and the site of the 2024 Summer Olympics surfing competition, with surfers coming from all around the world to test their mettle.

This infamous ‘slab’ wave produces some of the heaviest surf on earth and when the swells are big it can create treacherous conditions as the wave breaks over a dangerous coral reef.

American Surfer Dies After Wiping Out On Teahupo’o

According to StabMag, a 56-year-old unnamed American surfer died after wiping out and breaking vertebrae in their neck. The local mayor, Milton Parker, released a statement saying “the victim fell off his board, hit his head on the reef and broke two vertebrae in his neck.”

According to reports, the unnamed 56-year-old was pulled out of the water by another surfer in the lineup who was able to reach them and get them to a boat. Following the incident, the surfer was moved to Taravao Hospital and then French Polynesia Hospital Centre (CHPF) while listed as being in critical condition but they succumbed to their injuries and passed away on June 19th.

Legendary surfer Laird Hamilton once famously called Teahupo’o the “heaviest wave” he had ever ridden in his life. And this was not the first life lost to this wave. Back in 2000, local Tahitian surfer Brice Taerea tried to duck-dive under an incoming wave and didn’t make it, got sucked backward ‘over the falls,’ and was thrown onto the reef resulting in two broken vertebrae and a severed spinal cord.

Recent swells at Teahupo’o have produced enormous waves and at this slab break that means some of the heaviest surf on earth.

Invitation to the White House has the sports world turning on viral World Cup fan @FreddyLA7

While the corporatization of Freddy’s journey was already enough to turn sentiment sour, reports of a planned White House visit has completely spoiled the fun and led some to label the viral sensation as a “psyop.”

“Nick Adams, the former conservative media gadfly whose title in the Trump administration is Special Presidential Envoy for American, Tourism, Exceptionalism, and Values, told Front Office Sports in an interview Thursday that he has been in contact with Freddy and is in talks to host the mega-viral World Cup fan at both the White House and State Department before the tournament concludes.”

The Sunshine State has produced countless stories that have defined the essence of the mythical “Florida Man.” Now, we have a new entry in that particular canon courtesy of a guy who was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal a helicopter that was dispatched to transport victims of a car crash he was responsible for.

I feel like most people who spend a fair amount of time on the internet are familiar with the concept of the “Florida Man,” which is the phrase that has routinely appeared in headlines describing the many bizarre and borderline unbelievable stories involving the misadventures of guys in that state over the years.

Florida’s ability to produce those tales at a seemingly disproportionate rate is frequently linked back to the “Sunshine Laws” that were designed to give members of the press (and public) easy access to government documents, including the arrest records that highlight the many strange ways people there have managed to run afoul of the law.

Now, the Florida Man has struck again thanks to what unfolded on a highway north of Tampa Bay last week.

A man was arrested for attempting to steal a medical helicopter after causing a car crash in Florida

According to Fox13, first responders were called to a stretch of I-75 in Hernando County shortly after midnight last Friday after a man traveling north in a pickup truck “veered off the road, struck another vehicle and overturned into the woods.”

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Riley Ferrer, was not seriously injured in the crash, but the same could not be said for the two people in the car he collided with. A  BayFlight medical helicopter was dispatched to fly them to a nearby hospital, but police say things took an unexpected turn when Ferrer ran toward the chopper and attempted to steal it as the victims were being prepared for transport.

He was not able to actually fly away, and members of the Florida Highway Patrol were able to remove him from the aircraft before driving him to a hospital for evaluation. It appears he was dealing with a mental health situation when you consider he reportedly told officers he lost control of his truck because he “saw the anti-Christ” while he was driving, and he was subsequently booked at the Hernando County Detention Center after being discharged.

Ferrer was hit with three counts of resisting arrest, and he was being held without bond after also being charged for burglary of an occupied conveyance over his unsuccessful attempt to commandeer the helicopter. It was able to transport the victims for treatment, but there have been no updates on their condition as of this writing.

A barefoot and shirtless man in California casually stole a police cruiser Friday afternoon and led cops on a 40-mile chase. Naturally, there is video.

It all began when officers responded to a report of vandalism at Marysville Boulevard and South Avenue shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to Sacramento police. A caller reported to the police that a man chased her with a big stick and hurled a bucket at her tire. The man then allegedly struck the caller’s window with a stick.

In a video posted online, police officers pursued the man through an open field near Marysville Boulevard. Somehow, the barefoot and shirtless suspect evaded the officers and came upon two police cruisers. The suspect attempted to open the doors of a locked police car. Then he walked over to another cruiser, unlocked the door through an open window, and drove off.

After stealing the police cruiser, officers realized on the radio that the suspect now had access to a police firearm.

“The suspect does have a rifle from the patrol car and he is holding it out the window,” a pursuing officer said during the chase, according to ABC 10 News.

“Whether this rifle was actually removed from the safety lock by the suspect, that will be a part of the investigation as well. We’ll figure out if that had happened, how it happened, but those weapons that are in the vehicle are locked up,” said Officer Anthony Gamble, spokesman with the Sacramento Police Department.

On Saturday, CBS News reported the police stated that the suspect fired a shot from a rifle from the vehicle and that they were adding an additional firearm-related charge.

After taking the police cruiser, the suspect then led police on a pursuit with speeds reportedly reaching 100 mph down Highway 99 into Sacramento. The California Highway Patrol eventually took over the chase. It ended near Lodi, more than 40 miles away from where it began, where the culprit surrendered without incident, according to investigators.

Kyle Busch cannot stop winning, even beyond the grave. It appears as though he was awarded a permit to hunt moose in the state of Maine through an extremely competitive lottery.

His selection is part of the 0.057%.

Busch, who tragically passed away at the age of 41, was an avid outdoorsman. The late NASCAR driver would’ve had the opportunity to chase an antlered moose just a few days before the Cup Series Championship Race.

The Busch family lives in Denver, North Carolina.

Kyle Busch was one of the first people to really discover the small town of Denver, North Carolina— formerly known as Dry Pond. It is an unincorporated lakeside community that sits approximately 25 miles north of Charlotte.

Although the Lake Norman region has since become flooded with other members of the NASCAR community, Busch set his roots in 2012 with a $7.5 million purchase of a waterfront estate. It was briefly listed for sale in 2023 but came off of the market just five months later. He and his family later purchased a 35-acre property in Cleveland, North Carolina that featured a ~15,000-square-foot barndominium, which was also listed for sale in mid-2025. The estate is located less than 30 miles from Denver.

Denver, North Carolina has a population of less than 3,000 people. It is not super glitzy or glamorous. It is quiet and cozy. The Busches are not looked at as an iconic NASCAR family or celebrities, just members of the community.

All of this goes to say that Kyle Busch and his family consider Denver as home. He and his wife have lived there for more than a decade. Both of their children were born there. They singlehandedly helped to make the town what it is today.

Now that we have established the Busch family’s place of residence, let me explain why that is relevant. The state of Maine recently released its Moose Permit Lottery Winners for 2026. It is a highly-competitive lottery. Only 4,100 of 72,000 applicants received a permit— less than 10%.

One of the listed winners is a Kyle Busch from Denver, North Carolina. He was awarded an antlered permit for the first window of October, running from 10/12/26 to 10/17/26.

Joaquin Niemann got off to a rough start at the U.S. Open before he managed to turn things around and finish near the top of the leaderboard. On Sunday, Wyndham Clark secured his second win at the U.S. Open in front of a fairly hostile crowd, a victory that came a year after he was banned from Oakmont for the rampage he went on in the locker room after missing the cut.

That outburst transpired a month after Clark had damaged a sign he chucked his driver at following a wayward tee shot at the PGA Championship, and he and some of his fellow golfers were responsible for a trend that led to rules officials making a concerted effort to address concerns about conduct on the course.

Sergio Garcia was able to avoid extra strokes on his scorecard when he was hit with a warning after a meltdown at The Masters earlier this year. However, that was not the case with Joaquin Niemman, who found himself in an even bigger hole than the one he’d dug for himself following a brutal stretch last Thursday at the U.S. Open—a development that led to him leaving hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table.

Niemann had a couple of wins on the PGA Tour before defecting to LIV Golf, and he’s secured eight victories on that circuit since joining in 2022.

Heading into this year’s U.S. Open (which he failed to qualify for in 2025), the Chilean had missed the cut in one third of the dozen premier events he’d played in while peaking with a tie for 8th at the PGA Championship last year (his only Top 10 finish).

It didn’t look like he was going to be in the hunt at the U.S. Open this year when you consider he kicked things off with what initially appeared to be a six-over 76 during his opening round, which included a quintuple bogey on the par-4 6th. However, it ended up being a 78, as he was penalized two strokes for “abuse of clubs” after chucking an iron 50 yards in a fit of frustration on a hole where he officially carded an 11.

The 27-year-old managed to turn things around on Friday with a five-under 65 to make the cut. He followed that up with a 72 and closed things out with a 66 to finish at +1 for the tournament, which made him one of the four golfers who finished in a tie for seventh place.

Niemann took home $617,090, but if it had not been for those two strokes, he would have finished in a tie for third alongside Tom Kim. Kim got $1,532,530, but based on how payouts are calculated when players are tied, he and Nienamm each would have received $1,303,446, which means the club throw cost the latter $686,356.

Ouch.

With the laps ticking down in Sunday’s historic NASCAR Cup Series race at Naval Base Coronado outside of San Diego, it appeared as if points leader Tyler Reddick would win his sixth race of the season and regain his spot atop our NASCAR Power Rankings.

Then, with three laps remaining, Reddick made a mistake. He braked too late entering a corner, allowing part-time teammate Corey Heim to draw up to his back bumper. Reddick then made another mistake after Heim drew alongside him, running into the 23-year-old before backing out of the gas to cede the lead.

Ultimately, the second mistake caused a cut tire that saw Reddick go from a potential race win to a 25th-place finish. Meanwhile, Heim, who is set to join 23XI Racing full-time starting next season as a teammate of Reddick and Bubba Wallace, picked up an improbable first victory of his Cup Series career.

But what does that mean for our rankings?

2026 NASCAR Cup Series Power Rankings: Week 17

Heim, who is running 12 Cup Series races across the 2026 season, is both ineligible for our power rankings because he is not a full-time driver, and also does not have enough strong results to enter the rankings even if he were eligible.

However, that doesn’t mean that the race didn’t see some significant shakeups to the rankings.

For one, Reddick looked like a lock to regain the top spot just one week after losing it for the first time all season to Denny Hamlin.

Additionally, Shane van Gisbergen, the heavy favorite to win the race, will have to wait at least one more week to re-enter our rankings after crashing out in the second stage of the race and finishing in 38th.

In fact, there was a good bit of movement in this week’s rankings after a chaotic first race in San Diego.

10) Bubba Wallace

At one point in his career, Bubba Wallace was an admittedly poor road course racer. That’s no longer the case, and there’s no better example of his growth than Sunday’s performance in San Diego.

Wallace started in 12th position and quickly picked his way through the field all the way up into second. However, a loose wheel on a pit stop that later came off on the track not only sent him to the back of the pack, but it also put him two laps down.

Wallace remained patient, got his laps back via timely cautions, and then drove all the way back up through the field to finish third. On a day when several other drivers in and around the back end of our rankings struggled, Wallace persevered to turn a potentially terrible day into an exemplary one.

9) Daniel Suarez

Sunday’s race wasn’t anything overly flashy from Daniel Suarez. He started the day in sixth position and ran around the back end of the top-10 for much of it, grabbing a seventh-place finish in stage two before finishing the race in 13th.

But what it was for Suarez, however, was consistent.

The 34-year-old, who is on his fourth Cup Series team, is having the best season of his career by a wide margin, and he seems to have found a home with Spire Motorsports.

While Suarez might not be a title contender, he’s having one of the most consistent seasons of anyone in the garage and likely earning himself a contract extension in the process.

Last Week: 9th NASCAR Point Standings: 8th (-238)

8) Carson Hocevar

Suarez’s teammate, Carson Hocevar, showed great speed all weekend, qualifying in second and then finishing in the top 10 in both stage one and stage two.

He may have also been in contention for the win had it not been for a late-race incident with Heim that caused Hocevar to spin out and ultimately cost him a likely top-10 finish.

Hocevar ultimately slipped to 19th, turning a potential great day into a merely solid one. But he continues to show the type of speed that leads people to believe he’s not done winning this season.

Last Week: 8th NASCAR Point Standings: 9th (-240)

7) Chris Buescher

Chris Buescher has proven time and time again that he’s not only one of the best road course racers in the series today, but one of the best all-time.

He reaffirmed that with another strong showing on Sunday. Buescher qualified in 16th, but he quickly drove up through the field and, after flipping the opening stage, took third place in stage two.

He then found himself leading late in the race before an untimely caution. Ultimately, Buescher opted to pit from the lead for tires, and in the remaining laps of the race, he drove back up for a strong seventh-place finish.

Last Week: 7th NASCAR Point Standings: 7th (-216)

6) Chase Elliott

Chase Elliott just never seemed to get comfortable around the circuit at Naval Base Coronado.

He qualified terribly, starting all the way down in 30th position, and then stalled the car getting out of his pit box on an early stop.

That took Elliott out of the running for points in both the first and second stages. He eventually avoided enough trouble and found enough speed to finish in 12th, which isn’t the worst. But for a driver who once dominated on road courses, it seems like Elliott has lost his way a bit with the new generation of car.

Elliott has now failed to record a top-10 finish in any of the three races this month.

Last Week: 4th NASCAR Point Standings: 6th (-182)

5) Ty Gibbs

Like Elliott, Gibbs is one of the series’ better road racers according to the results. However, like Elliott, he also struggled a bit on Sunday and seems to find himself in a small rut.

After starting in 11th, Gibbs drove forward for a fourth-place finish in the opening stage. However, he got caught up in the stage two accident that took out van Gisbergen, Connor Zilisch, and Austin Hill, putting him behind the eight ball.

Even with a damaged car, Gibbs managed to drive back up into the top 10 before ultimately slipping back to 15th at the end of the day.

Last Week: 5th NASCAR Point Standings: 5th (-181)

4) Kyle Larson

Sooner or later, Kyle Larson’s over-year-long winless streak is going to end, and with the way he’s been running of late, you have to believe that the answer falls in the “sooner” category.

Larson was by far the best of the Hendrick Motorsports drivers all weekend, qualifying in 14th and driving through the field for a third-place finish in the opening stage.

He led twice for a total of 11 laps, which was the second-highest total in the field, and then brought his car home with a solid third-place finish. Larson’s season at the this point is almost becoming underrated because the lack of a victory. But he’s keeping himself alive in the point standings and the reigning champ might just have a say before it’s all said and done.

Last Week: 4th NASCAR Point Standings: 4th (-180)

3) Ryan Blaney

Ryan Blaney has quietly turned himself into a solid road course racer, and it showed all weekend in San Diego.

After qualifying in third position and then quickly taking the lead away from Shane Van Gisbegen. Blaney controlled the early parts of the race and went on to win the opening stage.

He then battled back from unfortunately timed cautions that put him behind the eight ball to finish fifth in stage two, and drove through the field from the last teens all the way up to ninth in the final 10 laps of the race.

Ultimately, Blaney put distance between he and his closest challengers for third in the regular-season points, making Sunday and extemely productive day at the office.

Last Week: 3rd NASCAR Point Standings: 3rd (-133)

2) Tyler Reddick

Tyler Reddick could almost reach out and touch his sixth win of the season on Sunday. And then, in the blink of an eye, it was gone, and even more of his points lead over Denny Hamlin was gone with it.

Reddick was far from perfect all weekend, spinning in qualifying, which led to him starting 17th and failing to score points in either of the first two stages.

However, when the chips were down, Reddick had both the speed to compete for a victory and the track. Two mistakes later, though, and competing for a victory turned into a 25th-place finish and a chance to regain the top spot in the rankings went slipping through is fingers.

Last Week: 2nd NASCAR Point Standings: 1st

1) Denny Hamlin

Denny Hamlin didn’t exactly do anything extraordinary to maintain his spot atop our rankings. In fact, by the future Hall of Famer’s standards, his weekend was merely medicore.

Hamlin qualified back in 26th. He didn’t score points in either of the first two stages, and then he finished in 14th, which is nothing to write home about for a championship contender coming off three consecutive wins and four straight finishes in the top three (not even accounting for his win in the All-Star Race).

However, Reddick’s loss was Hamlin’s gain, as even with a 14th-place finish he still shaved another 11 points off of Reddick’s rapidly shrinking points lead.

Rory McIlroy finished well off the lead at the US Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club this weekend. The Northern Irishman shot +6 over his last two days. He couldn’t wait to leave New York.

McIlroy admitted as much after wrapping up his final round. The course beat him down. The crowd added to his pain.

McIlroy has a history with fans in the area. He got into it with patrons last year at the Ryder Cup at Bethpage on Long Island.

Rory has been fired up all day after fan incident earlier.

At one point, he told fans to “shut the f— up,” after being brutally heckled. That instance was a bit different, though.

It was Europe vs. the US. The crowd was always going to be against him with it being on American soil. While attendees may have overstepped the line, the reaction was somewhat expected.

That wasn’t necessarily the case for the US Open. McIlroy didn’t foresee that type of raucous atmosphere, and for the most part, he was right.

US Open crowds were small until the final round.

Nobody showed for the first three days of play. Travel costs and logistics played a large role. Empty seats littered the venue as each round came to a close.

Things changed on Sunday, though. The crowd was lively for the final round. Most in attendance exhausted their energy booing eventual champion Wyndham Clark as he battled in a pairing with fan favorite Scottie Scheffler.

Rory McIlroy caught some negative attention, too.

McIlroy was heckled on at least one tee box. He responded playfully with the fan.

With that said, he couldn’t get done with his Sunday round fast enough. That had less to do with the fans and more to do with his play on a difficult course.

Rory McIlroy finished poorly.

He actually sat at -2 through his front nine on Saturday. From there, he tumbled down the leaderboard and well out of contention for a major win.

McIlroy bogeyed five times on the back nine in Round 3. He added four more on the front nine Sunday.

While he was able to finish -1 on his final nine holes, the deficit proved too deep to dig out of. Here’s what he had to say after the tournament.

“(The course) won the battle over me at this point,” he said. “I sort of shot myself out of the tournament (on Saturday)… Then a couple of bogeys on the front nine, and I was trying to race my way to the 18th green.”

The finish was disappointing for McIlroy after a hot start. Hecklers added insult to injury, though he appeared to take it in stride.

With the third major now wrapped up, attention will turn to the British Open in July. He’s probably not eager to return to New York anytime soon.

When you’ve worked as a server long enough, you may have perfected the ability to spot a bad tipper. For some, certain mannerisms can be a dead giveaway.

For example, one Virginia-based server noticed that customers who ignore her greeting or complain about their food only after the check arrives tend to not leave a tip. Now, Florida Keys server and bartender Hunter (@bubblesxxoo) shares bad tipping patterns she has seen among her clientele.

“These are the types of customers that are most likely to tip less than 10%,” she starts.

The 6 Types Of Poor Tippers

First up are customers she dubs the “Lemonade Makers.” These are guests who ask for free items to craft their own DIY lemonade. “‘Can we get extra waters with extra lemons with sugar packets?’” she mimics.

Next are impatient, frugal drinkers; she calls these customers “Time Travelers.” “‘Can’t you make the drinks now and then just ring them when it’s happy hour?’” the content creator imitates.

Then, Hunter complains of the “Verbal Tippers,” who shower her with flattery, thinking their verbal praise is enough of a tip. “‘You are the best waitress we have ever had. So, serious. Everything has been phenomenal. Also, you are so pretty,’” she portrays.

From her experience, the “In My Country” customers, specifically European tourists she’s encountered, tend to skip the tip altogether. They, she says, make the excuse that in their country, tipping culture is not as prevalent.

Finally, she wraps up with those who prioritize playing card games over ordering, calling them “Table Gamers,” and the not-so-easy “Self-Proclaimed Easy Customer.”

Other Servers Weigh In

Hunter’s video racked up over 191,000 views, with many fellow servers joined the conversation by sharing their bad tipping red flags.

“‘Can I get plastic ware please and hot water to soak my silverware,’” one viewer commented.

“‘Are the drinks free refills ?’ immediately I already know,” another shared.

“I had [a guy] ask me what the numbers [were] that were next to the meal. Sir those are the prices. I just knew he wasn’t going to tip. Zero on a $70,” a third recalled.

“For me it’s always the ones who insist on covering the bill for their friend ahead of time. Gives me the card and everything to leave me 8%,” a fourth revealed.

“It was always the ‘don’t worry, I’ll take care of you’ customers that never did end up taking care of me,” a fifth stated.

Is It Ever OK To Tip 10% Or Less?

According to a Bankrate survey, 58% of respondents still tip based on service. In the U.S., servers aren’t paid a standard wage and are instead dependent on tips for their income. Businesses are legally able to pay them $2.13 an hour but must make up the difference if the tips don’t come out to the $7.25-an-hour federal minimum wage.

Therefore, a tip that’s 10% or less is only acceptable in tipping etiquette if a server was rude or disrespectful and delivered subpar services, according to Food & Wine. Thus, leaving the 10% tip amount is enough to send a clear message of dissatisfaction without leaving nothing.

On the other hand, if you feel your server went above and beyond, a 20% tip is more than sufficient.

Lottie Woad’s putter failed her in the final moments of a second-place finish in the Meijer LPGA Classic at Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Michigan. She fell in a playoff to champion Miyu Yamashita by one shot.

A par putt on the 18th green lipped out, opening the door for Yamashita’s comeback. After losing in extra play, Woad saw her payout dip from $487K to $305K.

Yamashita was five strokes behind Woad after Friday’s second round. She cut the deficit to four shots with a 67 on Saturday.

Yamashita then posted a field-best 64 in her final round to capture the title. She had a little help along the way.

Woad was a shot up on Yamashita on her final hole. She needed to sink a short par putt to capture the win. That three-footer lipped out in heartbreaking fashion.

Woad recorded bogey to lose a stroke. It allowed Yamashita to slide into a first-place tie.

She’d then win the tournament with a birdie in the first playoff hole. Woad shot par to lose by a stroke. That missed putt in regulation proved costly.

Not only did it strip her of an LPGA Tour victory, but it also decreased her payout by six figures.

The Meijer LPGA Classic winner was slated to earn $487,500. The runner-up was to be paid out $305,678. Yamashita grabbed that near-half-million payday. Woad lost out on more than $180,000 having slipped to second place.

“I felt like I hit an OK putt,” Lottie Woad said of her missed putt. “It obviously, lipped out on the high side.”

The finish was a disappointing one for Woad given the large lead entering the day. Yamashita will celebrate her competitor’s misfortune. Her bank account should see a nice boost in the coming days.
