If you have been keeping up with electric scooter space, you’ve probably noticed a quiet shift happening. While the skinny, stand-up commuter scooter still has its place, there is a new breed of machine gaining ground, one that prioritizes real-world usefulness over minimalist portability. The Gyroor C1 Plus is squarely in that camp, and after spending time putting it through its paces, I can tell you it’s one of the more interesting scooters I’ve tested in a while.

First Impressions: Built For Business

Right out of the box, the Gyroor C1 Plus makes a statement. This thing is substantial. With an all-metal frame, a generously padded seat, 14-inch pneumatic tires, and a large detachable front basket, it looks less like a scooter and more like a compact electric moped. That’s not a complaint; it’s a selling point. Gyroor clearly set out to build something that could handle real life, and the hardware backs that up.

Now some fair warning, especially if you’re not the most mechanically inclined guy: Gyroor’s assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired. They’re genuinely confusing, and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to get the handlebars mounted until I tracked down a YouTube video that walked me through it. (Thank you Paul Tech!)

Once I got past that little hurdle, it was a quick 10-minute job putting everything together and making sure I didn’t miss anything. Gyroor would do well to rework their documentation. Save yourself the headache and search for that video before you even open the box.

The Ride: More Fun Than The Numbers Suggest

The Gyroor C1 Plus has a top speed of 18.6 mph. On paper, that doesn’t sound like much. In practice? It feels noticeably quick, especially once you settle into the seat and get comfortable with the throttle. The C1 Plus runs on a 650W motor (peaking at 1000W) and offers three speed modes (12.2 mph, 15.5 mph, and 18.6 mph) so you can dial in whatever pace suits your situation. I just leave it on the fastest mode and modulate the throttle as needed.

What really stood out was the scooter’s ride quality. The 14-inch pneumatic tires combined with the rear suspension system do an excellent job of soaking up road imperfections. Rough pavement, cracks, small dips, the C1 Plus handles them smoothly. I even took it off-road a bit and it handled light trails without complaint. No, this isn’t a mountain scooter by any means, but it’s more capable than you’d expect for an urban-focused ride.

The padded seat (3 inches thick, adjustable from 30″ to 38″ in height) makes a big difference on longer hauls. There’s no fatigue from standing, no white-knuckling the handlebars – just a comfortable, upright riding position. The handlebar also adjusts between 40″ and 44″, so riders from 5’1″ to 6’5″ should be able to find a comfortable fit. I’m 6’2″ and had no issues.

The Baskets: The Whole Point

Let’s talk about what makes the C1 Plus genuinely unique: the storage. Most electric scooters give you a hook for a bag at best, or you have to bring a backpack with you to carry stuff in. The C1 Plus comes with a large detachable front basket (roughly 20.7″ x 10.5″ x 10.2″) and a smaller rear basket, and together they transform this scooter into something you can actually use.

Groceries, a bag of dog food, your gear for a day out — all of it fits without any creative rigging. The front basket is even designed with pet owners in mind; it can hold dogs up to 60 lbs, and the front-mounted position lets you keep an eye on your furry passenger while you ride. (I was going to take my girlfriend’s cat for a little ride, but she wasn’t having it) For those without pets, it’s just excellent cargo real estate.

One gripe: the front basket door kept wanting to swing open while I was riding. It’s a minor annoyance but worth knowing about, and I’ll be looking for a simple way to better secure it. Something as simple as a small bungee clip or latch upgrade should solve the problem.

Battery Life: Exactly What Gyroor Promises

Range anxiety is real with electric scooters, and it is one of the first things people ask about. I’m happy to report there’s nothing to worry about here – Gyroor claims up to 30 miles on a single charge, and that’s exactly what I saw in real-world use.

For most people using this for daily errands and neighborhood riding, you’re likely topping it off every few days rather than every night. Charge time runs 5–7 hours, so plugging it in overnight is all it takes to start the next day with a full battery.

This is really a “get around town” machine – perfect for short errands and neighborhood cruising, but I wouldn’t plan on tossing it in the trunk for a day trip unless you’ve got a friend to help. Think of it less like a portable commuter scooter and more like a lightweight electric moped you keep at home.

The IP54 rating also means it can handle light splashes but isn’t built for riding in heavy rain. Keep that in mind if you’re planning to use it in unpredictable weather.

The Verdict

For $599 (regularly $799), you’re getting a sturdy, well-built scooter that punches above its weight class. Yes, the assembly instructions need work, and the basket door latch could use some attention. But these are minor friction points on an otherwise impressive package. If you’re in the market for a scooter you can actually use daily for running errands, bringing your dog along for the ride, or just cruising the neighborhood in comfort, the Gyroor C1 Plus deserves a serious look.

Bottom line: Great fun, great utility, great value.

This isn’t just a familiar car with a new powertrain bolted on, it’s a ground-up reimagining of one of the brand’s most iconic and best-selling models. The result is something that manages to feel both boldly new and reassuringly C-Class at the same time.

It’s The Most Powerful C-Class Ever Built

Let’s start where it counts. The 2027 Mercedes-Benz C 400 4MATIC Electric makes 482 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque, with a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds. That’s not just fast for a midsize luxury sedan, that’s properly quick by any standard, bordering on AMG performance numbers.

The drive setup uses dual permanently excited synchronous motors with a front disconnect unit, meaning the front axle only engages when you actually need traction (like during hard acceleration or in slippery conditions), cutting parasitic losses and boosting efficiency in the process. When you’re cruising, the front motor disconnects almost instantly, reducing front axle losses by up to 90 percent.

Range And Charging Numbers Are Seriously Impressive

The 2027 C-Class Electric is powered by a 94-kWh lithium-ion battery and rated at up to 762 kilometers of range. While U.S. EPA figures are still TBA, that roughly translates to about 472 miles of range, which is fantastic.

What really stands out is the charging speed. Thanks to 800-volt architecture and up to 330 kW DC fast charging, you can add up to 200 miles of range in as little as 10 minutes in ideal situations. And a 10-to-80 percent charge takes just 22 minutes.

A DC converter comes standard so you can also charge at 400-volt stations when needed.

The Handling Gets an Upgrade Too

Under the optional Agility & Comfort Package, you get AIRMATIC air suspension paired with 4.5-degree rear-axle steering. That rear-axle steering shrinks the turning circle to just 36.7 feet (nearly three feet tighter than without it), making city parking easier. At highway speeds above 44 mph, the rear wheels steer in parallel with the fronts for added stability.

The AIRMATIC system also uses predictive intelligence, pulling real-time road condition data from Car-to-X technology and Google Maps to pre-adjust damping before you even hit a bump. It can also lower ride height based on mapping data, so if it knows you’re still on the highway despite slowing for traffic, it keeps the car low for better efficiency rather than raising it unnecessarily.

Standard suspension is no slouch either, featuring amplitude-selective damping on a four-link front and multi-link rear axle setup.

The Interior Sets A New Bar For The Segment

“The all-new electric C‑Class is redefining the mid-size segment for electric vehicles. Customers will get exactly what they expect from this new version of the beloved model: the perfect blend of performance, comfort, dynamics, and intelligence. On top of that, it is the most powerful and sportiest C‑Class we’ve ever built, offering pure driving pleasure and outstanding real-world range – all while being the perfect sanctuary for our customer,” said Mercedes-Benz Chairman Ola Källenius.

That “sanctuary” language isn’t just marketing. The wheelbase stretches to 116.6 inches, 3.8 inches longer than the outgoing combustion C-Class, giving front passengers noticeably more legroom. The trunk holds 16.6 cubic feet, and there’s a frunk up front for additional storage.

The optional MBUX Hyperscreen spans a continuous 39.1 inches across the dashboard, with over 1,000 individual LEDs powering the matrix backlight. An optional MBUX Augmented Reality Head-Up Display is new to the C-Class lineup, projecting navigation and driving info into your line of sight.

The available SKY CONTROL panoramic roof features nine independently switchable glass segments and 162 illuminated stars in whatever ambient color you’ve selected. Optional high-end front seats include massage, ventilation, and even body transducers in the backrests that let you feel the music in what Mercedes calls 4D sound.

The car runs MB.OS, Mercedes-Benz’s in-house operating system that connects every vehicle domain and supports over-the-air software updates. The 4th-generation MBUX infotainment system is the first in-car setup to combine AI from ChatGPT-4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini simultaneously, using each model’s strengths depending on the task.

The MBUX Virtual Assistant handles complex, multi-turn conversations and has short-term memory – no need to repeat yourself. Say “Hey Mercedes” and it works like a genuinely smart co-pilot, not a glorified voice menu.

Navigation with Electric Intelligence factors in traffic, driving style, elevation, charging station locations, and even future wind conditions to plot the most efficient route, including automatically preconditioning the battery for fast charging before you arrive at a station.

The Ford Mustang GTD was already a legend at the Nürburgring. Now it’s in a class of its own.

Yes, the rumors were true. The new Ford Mustang GTD Competition lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a blistering 6 minutes and 40.835 seconds, shattering its own previous production-class record of 6:52.072 by more than 11 seconds! That makes Ford the holder of the two fastest Nürburgring lap times of any American brand, with the Ford GT Mk IV also on the books at 6:15.977.

If you need a scoreboard to put that in perspective: the Ford Mustang GTD Competition just beat the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X’s best time of 6:49.275 by more than eight full seconds. Yeah, that’s not just a win, that’s a statement.

Ford’s CEO Has A Message For The Competition

Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley didn’t mince words when the record was confirmed.

“When we said, ‘Game On,’ we meant it,” said Jim Farley. “Mustang GTD was always meant to bridge the worlds between GT3 race cars and street-legal supercars, and the GTD Competition takes this to the next level to continue keeping Europe’s elite up at night.”

That’s not just trash talk, as the numbers back it up. The GTD Competition now sits sixth on the Nürburgring’s Pre-Production/Prototype Class all-time leaderboard, behind some of the most exotic machines ever built, including the Porsche 919 Evo, VW ID.R, the Ford GT Mk IV, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype, and the Lotus Evija X.

What Ford Did To Shave 11 Seconds Off The Clock

Getting from 6:52 to 6:40 around 12.94 miles of twisting, elevation-heavy German tarmac, affectionately known as the “Green Hell”, doesn’t happen by accident. Ford’s engineers attacked the problem on four fronts:

More Power: The supercharged 5.2-liter V8 received hardware upgrades and aggressive tuning that push output beyond the original GTD’s 815 horsepower. Ford isn’t releasing exact numbers yet, but “more than 815 hp” in a track-focused machine is all you really need to hear.

Advanced Aerodynamics: Building on the existing Drag Reduction System (DRS), the GTD Competition adds rear wing modifications, secondary front dive planes, and rear carbon fiber aero discs to increase total downforce without sacrificing efficiency or aero balance. In plain terms: more stick, less drag.

Increased Grip: New high-performance tires developed specifically for the GTD Competition keep the power planted where it needs to be.

Weight Reduction: New magnesium wheels, carbon bucket seats, a lighter damper system, and additional measures all trim pounds from the GTD’s considerable curb weight. For reference, the standard GTD tips the scales at roughly 4,404 pounds, so every pound shed matters.

The Man Behind The Wheel

Ford Racing and Multimatic factory driver Dirk Müller was again behind the wheel when the 6:40.835 time was set on March 24. Müller is a seasoned pro, but what really drives home just how capable this car is came from an unlikely source.

Ford Racing engineer Steve Thompson, a person with fewer than 40 total laps of Nürburgring experience, also piloted the GTD Competition to a time of 6:49.337. That’s faster than Müller’s original production class record. Just let that sink in for a second: an engineer with barely any “Ring time posted a lap that would have been a record just months ago.

“You don’t run a 6:40 at the Nürburgring on hardware alone. The GTD Competition is the direct result of pouring our hardest-learned motorsport lessons into a street car, backed by a team of engineers who sacrificed their nights and holidays to squeeze out every possible millisecond,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Racing.

The engineers behind the record-breaking effort, including Peter Kuechler, Sam Ashtiani, and Steve Thompson, spent months obsessing over every detail to make this happen.

Motorsport DNA In A Road Car

Haymitch’s origin story gets the big-screen treatment, and it looks like the darkest chapter yet in the Panem saga.

If you thought The Hunger Games franchise was done, think again. Lionsgate just dropped the first official trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and it’s a gut-punch of a preview that makes clear this isn’t just another cash-grab sequel. This thing looks mean.

What’s The Story?

The film is set 24 years before the events of the original Hunger Games, beginning on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games. This particular edition of the Games carries some serious extra weight, as it’s the Second Quarter Quell, a notorious event that doubled the number of tributes from each district, making it the bloodiest Games in Panem’s history, with 48 children forced to fight to the death.

At the center of it all is a character fans of the original films know well: Haymitch Abernathy. You remember him – the perpetually drunk, sharp-tongued mentor played by Woody Harrelson who helped guide Katniss through her Games. This film shows us who he was before all that, and if the trailer is any indication, what he went through was enough to break anyone.

A New Face In A Familiar Role

Leading the charge is Joseph Zada as a young Haymitch Abernathy. This is his moment to make the character his own, and based on what the trailer shows, he’s got the intensity to pull it off. At one point in the trailer, Haymitch declares, “I’m sick of living in fear. Just surviving. We’re not animals to be killed for their entertainment.” That’s the fire of a man who hasn’t been ground down yet — and watching the process of that happening is exactly what makes this story compelling.

Producer Nina Jacobson has called casting Haymitch one of the biggest challenges of the production, noting the need to capture both the mischievous spark and the underlying depth that define the character. From the looks of the trailer, they nailed it.

The Villain Is Terrifying

Here’s where things get really interesting for fans of the wider saga. Ralph Fiennes plays the role of President Coriolanus Snow. Yes, the very same Snow who tormented Katniss decades later. Seeing him in his prime, fully in control and utterly ruthless, adds a whole new layer to the mythology.

In the trailer, Coriolanus Snow delivers a chilling threat in voiceover as Haymitch is hoisted into the arena: “If you disobey me, we shall open the bloodbath with the longest, most drawn out death your people have ever seen.” Fiennes was born to play a villain like this.

A Stacked Supporting Cast

Let me tell you, this movie certainly didn’t skimp on talent. Here’s who else you’ll recognize:

Jesse Plemons plays a young Plutarch Heavensbee, a role made famous by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. Glenn Close rounds out the ensemble as Drusilla Sickle, a Capitol chaperone for the District 12 tributes.

That’s an absurd amount of talent for a single film. Every one of those casting choices is worth getting excited about.

The Team Behind It Knows What They’re Doing

Director Francis Lawrence, who previously helmed Catching Fire, both parts of Mockingjay, and the recent prequel The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, returns to direct. The script is in the hands of Billy Ray, the screenwriter who first brought Suzanne Collins’ original novel to theaters. This is the A-team of the franchise, and it shows in how polished and purposeful the trailer looks.

The Source Material Is Already A Phenomenon

The film is based on Collins’ 2025 novel of the same name, and the book alone tells you the appetite for this story is huge. Sunrise on the Reaping sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide in its first week, the biggest debut for any title in Collins’ Hunger Games series.

In the U.S. alone, the book sold 1.2 million copies, more than twice the opening sales of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. When the source material hits those numbers, the film adaptation tends to arrive with serious momentum.

The Bottom Line

The Hunger Games has always had more going for it than its YA label suggests – brutal action, sharp political allegory, and genuinely great performances. Sunrise on the Reaping looks like it’s leaning fully into all of that.

Unveiled yesterday, this lineup is GoPro’s boldest move yet: a trio of professional-grade cinema cameras designed to go anywhere, shoot anything, and come back with footage that rivals gear costing many times more. Now we’re talking!

Meet The Three Cameras In The MISSION 1 Lineup

The series breaks down into three distinct models, each built around the same core technology but tuned for different levels of creative ambition.

MISSION 1 PRO is the flagship. It shoots 8K at 60fps, 4K at 240fps, and can pull off 1080p at a wild 960fps for ultra-slow-motion shots. It also supports 8K30 and 4K120 Open Gate (4:3) video capture for maximum editing flexibility.

MISSION 1 PRO ILS takes the same guts, the 50MP 1″ sensor and new GP3 processor, and drops them into a mirrorless body with an interchangeable Micro Four Thirds (MFT) lens mount. Telephoto, macro, zoom, whatever glass you want to throw at it, this camera can handle it.

The new 50MP 1″ sensor features large 1.6µm native pixels and 3.2µm fused pixels in Quad Bayer mode, pulling in significantly more light than smaller sensors. The result is up to 14 stops of dynamic range and low-light performance that punches well above the camera’s weight class.

Powering it all is GoPro’s brand-new GP3 processor, built on an ultra-efficient 5nm design. It includes an AI Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for advanced image processing, which is a big part of why the MISSION 1 Series can hit frame rates and runtimes that most compact cameras can’t touch.

For audio, four microphones handle stereo recording with wind reduction, and the cameras support 32-bit float audio to help prevent clipping. Bluetooth 5.3 with Super Wideband Speech means you can also pair wireless audio devices for high-fidelity sound on the go.

There are 13 capture modes, including a dedicated Dive Mode with underwater color science and a Vlog Mode with face-aware tone mapping, so you can let the camera do the heavy lifting or dial in completely custom settings if you prefer full manual control.

The MISSION 1 and MISSION 1 PRO are waterproof to an impressive 66 feet (20m) without any housing, making them a serious tool for divers and water sports enthusiasts. If you need to push deeper, an optional Protective Housing extends that to 196 feet (60m). The MISSION 1 PRO ILS is weatherproof.

The redesigned body also brings a 159° native field of view (widest in its class), a 14% larger OLED rear display, and taller, chunkier buttons for easier gloved-hand operation.
