Black Clouds and a Dirty Mop Bucket

Today's Inspiration : Black Clouds and a Dirty Mop Bucket

As the black clouds come rumbling in I become entranced in the deep dark swirl of the mop bucket. Textures of black are swimming in my mind, who is void of any light but embodies every pigment on earth.

Vignettes & a Tutorial

2013-09-04T11:34:00.001-05:00

Vignette n. : a running ornament (as of vine leaves, tendrils, and grapes) put on or just before a title page or at the beginning or end of a chapter; also : a small decorative design or picture so placed

What I love most about vignettes is that their are no rules. Vignettes are appropriate in any room and created in any style. I personally am drawn towards eclectic vintage and pop culture/art styles.

Tutorial

I came across this great tutorial on Giddy Giddy and I knew I had to make a go at it. Wall hooks made from wire and paper mache.

Mine may not be as functional or look as neat but I do love this addition to our apt when you first walk in the door.

Walking through the crowded street during the Milwaukee Ave. Arts Festival I found The Fluffy Friends Booth. Friendly and inviting booth and great prices. It was very hard for me to decide what I wanted for B's room but decided on the "Yuk" painting and was gifted the YukYuk toy. A great addition to our house.

Culture Shock

2011-06-29T18:18:00.000-05:00

How do you define culture shock?

This weekend, while visiting my sister I began to feel a bit of culture shock. She lives on the edge of town and is bordered by farms and corn fields. Although, I have been in "el rancho" many times it seems so far away from my life.

While driving it was easy to become hypnotized while whizzing past the corn fields. Suddenly I realized what I was listening to, SILENCE...

At home I am surrounded my mass transportation, hundreds of people, cement, and loud conversations in languages found all over the world.

Where is home for you?

Do you gaze at the stars at night time or at the city skyline?

the british museum

2011-06-23T15:01:00.000-05:00

Although, I have to admit it has been a few years since I have visited the museum I can't get those images of the 'Elgin marbles' out of my head.

What are the 'Elgin marbles'? They are sculptures removed from the Parthenon in the early 1800's by Lord Elgin of England. Lord Elgin, England's Ambassador to Athens had an extreme love of the culture and art.
