rebekka ruétz - Lookbook SS 2012

rebekka ruétz's collection is one of the most unique collections I've seen.

Her interest in Oriental teachings brought her to India where she developed her vocation for traditional Chinese medicine.

What is unique about her collections is that on the inside of her clothes, there are different chakra prints that, according the Oriental tradition, help develop inner harmony.

In fact, the designer's SS 2012 collection is devoted to slowness, idleness and easiness, and it mirrors the idea that fashion can be more than trends, it can express an entire philosophy.

The nude tones, the white, gold, terracotta and pastel shades on the noble fabrics such as

chiffon, silk and fine lace which were chosen for this collection perfectly mirror the state of peace and serenity that the artist wanted to bring to the fashion industry and our hectic society.

I love the idea of a collection that brings more than just "pretty clothes" to the public. To dress chic and, at the same time, carry a deeper message through the own style (and possibly one of positivity and serenity): that's a nice aim!

Bread&Butter - Impressions from the Tradeshow

Hey guys! How are you?

I'm back!!!!!

I had a very very veeery full week at the Bread and Butter in Berlin with Sal Y Limon, the brand I work for (the bangles in the third and fourth pictures :)) .

It has been a very fruitful and interesting week, full of work but also fun, with loooong days, and in which work has had the absolute priority of course.

The bad thing about this was, of course, that I did not find any time for posting....

But I'm back! I came home this morning and I am willing and ready to share with you some impressions.

First of all, I would like to thank The Photograph Collector, who honored me with this award :)!

As always, awards come with a list of questions, which I'll be glad to answer right away:

1. Name your favorite song. I have many actually. The first that comes to my mind right now is "Browned eyed girl", by Van Morrison. A happy song :)!
2. Name your favorite dessert. Tiramisu! With a lot of mascarpone and sugar and no alcohol and just a little coffee. Just like kids like it :)!
3. What ticks me off... Arrogance.
4. When I'm upset I... Go to my Body Combat class and give all!
5. What's your favorite pet... Elephants :)! So big and goofy and so innocent and cute!
6. Black or White... White!
7. Biggest Fear... Hairy big spiders!
8. Everyday Attitude... "Go and rock it girl!" That's what I keep repeating in the mirror in the morning!
9. What is perfection? Something that does not exist. I'll give you my personal answer to the next question, namely how to cope with the fact that perfection does not exist: by accepting. Accepting in a very "zen" way. Not easy at all, but absolutely necessary to live well.
10. Guilty Pleasure... Read the answer to question number 2 :)!

Seven Random Facts About Me: 1. I am in love :)! (Hey babe!) 2. I am kind of obsessed by order. 3. I am thinking of giving my living room's walls a neon hello touch. Risky! 4. I'm a vegetarian. 5. I am allergic to cats...which is a pity cause I long to cuddle one! 6. I am planning to sell my old clothes at a flea market for the second time. Loved it the first time! 7. I have an American accent when I speak English.

A Matter of Signature

Do you know that nice feeling when you smell a fragrance which riminds your right away of a specific someone, beaucse it is the parfume he or she is used to wear? It's like that someone has left a signature.

Somehow I always wished to find my own signature, my own scent, but somehow, none of those I had tried could really give me that right feeling. None of them could make me feel like it was the parfume for me.

Therefore, am I particularly glad to announce that I finally found it: Sensuous by Estée Lauder.

Molten Woods, Amber, Jasmine, Ghost Lily, Magnolia, Ylang, a hint of Pepper, and a touch of Honey.These are the ingredient to its intriguing, but elegant and delicate sweet smell.

More Sales Purchases - Missoni & Jil Sander

Hey ya!

I've got some new entries to show you! Both are outlet purchases. The first one is a Missoni yellow short jacket, the second one a wintery Jil Sander wool belt, wich perfectly matches with a blazer of mine bought at Zara (you've already seen it here and here) as it has the same green shade on it.

The belt was really just a spontaneous lucky find. I saw it, loved it, and bought it.

But the jacket has a longer story: I had seen it in a long time ago, and I found it incredibly cute, with its bright yellow, the golden threads, the short cut...But, the prize way to high of course. After all, it was a Missoni jacket! Well, I found it again a couples of days ago in a Missoni outlet, and could not leave it at the shop for the second time! It had to be destiny ;)! And this time the prize was really ok...So there really were no reasons not to buy it. It has immediately become one of my closet's favourite pieces :)! Can't wait to wear it this spring!

Back from the Hair Stylist

Yesterday, I treated myself with a quick visit to the hairdresser.

As I kept my current cut (it is just a tiny little bit shorter than it was before) I chose to add a curly style to it. After all, the greatest thing about going to the hair stylist is to sort out of the salon with something special. Right?

Hello darlings!

How was your New Year's Eve?

Mine was a very cosy one, with a lot of Swiss cheese raclette (if you don't know what it is, it is a typical Swiss meal based on melted cheese and potatoes; nothing for diet freaks ;)), guitar hero, and Prosecco ;P!

But right before the 31st, I had a little tour in Zara (where else?), where I bought some new pretty things...Among them, this red top and this jacket. Do you like them?

Happy new year!!!

Here we are: a few hours away from a brand new year.

New Year's Eve always puts me in a melancholic mood. It is the day of the year in which you have to say goodbye to all the memories, impressions, and feelings from the old year.

And even if there's always something yo are glad to leave behind you, there are other things that you wish to see and feel again in the new year. At the end, it's all about taking stock of your situation and realizing what were your successes as well as failures. But most of all, it's realizing what you wish will happen in the upcoming year, all the things you haven't done and still want to do, all the dreams you still wish to fulfill.

In a way, it's like having your birthday: you realize that life is short, and that you have to make the best out of it, and live it at its deepest. Everything else is a waste of time.

So happy happy happy 2012 everyone!

Good morning lovlies!

My last day of Christmas is gone. It was a really fun one with my parents, sisters, boyfriend, and... the new entry of the family :). You are going to see him very soon.

This one was my second outfit for Christmas. I chose to match some very chic pieces like the Zara sequined top and the black vintage looking H&M kimono, with some very basic items such as the gray denim skinnies and the black pumps (which I recicled together with the golden clutch from the outfit of the day before).

New&Old Outfit

"Oh my gosh, I've been wearing this thing for so long! I want something new now!".
This is what I usually think when I look at my old clothes hanging in my closet.
But it definitely was not the attitude I had when I pulled this outfit!
The pullover (first bought by my mom about five years ago, then handed to me, and then left in the closet for years) represents a major come-back of this season: glitters! I had to give it a second chance....
The leather shorts (most people find them funny and call them my "Oktoberfest" shorts :)) were a sales bargain from last spring. The boots were a birthday present received two years ago.
It was a real re-discovery of my wardrobe. However, I gave it a fresher touch through the accessories: the XL red clutch bought in Autumn, my new nerdies, my new double cocktail ring, and, of course, red lips... ;*!

Magical Nights: from Africa to Europe

Nights are magical.

I was looking at pictures taken last year during my Moroccan holidays and at the same time at this picture of Zurich by night, and I thought to my self, that there is no way I could even try to choose between the two. They are both sooo beautiful and appealing with their mistery. Marrakesh in its warmth, Zurich with its coolness.

Today's outfit was an easy working day outfit.

The total black look gained a funkier touch through the glittery details of the pullover and bangles. Have you seen the new Sal Y Limon glittery ones? And I love the biker look. How many times have you already seen me wearing my jacket? Well, it won't be the last one, that's for sure ;)! I love it too much!

Oh, I almost forgot! I don't know if you noticed, but I changed glasses: they are very similar to the old ones (which I lost :( )but they are even bigger and "nerdy-er". Like them?

Oh, I can't wait to get there again! Most probably, I will "have" to go there for business again (to those of you, who don't know it, I'm sales manager at Sal Y Limon, a young Swiss brand specialized in bangles). In January, I will attend several exhibitions in Berlin, Paris and maybe Amsterdam. As much as I find each of these cities fantastic, and I'm excited about each one of the upcoming fairs, I have to admit that I am already daydreaming about Paris. I really hope to be able to make some good shots there, even if I can't really promise anything, as there will be tons and tons of work during those weeks.

We will see...for now, I will have to settle for little collages in Polyvore :).

An old friend of mine and member of the Warriors invited me to the preview of their last video at Exile club in Zurich.

I'm not a skateboard expert at all, but I guess you can tell at first sight that they kinda kick ass!

I found the video extremely cool, technically very well done, and pretty stylish too. So: CHECK-IT-OUT! And, to finish this eloquently, I would like to quote my above mentioned old friend: "Skateboard is not fashion, but fashion is skateboard". (I'm not sure what Dean, Dan or Karl would think about that...but the matter sounds serious!).
