Hey Gwinnett Church!

My name is Kristen Court, and I work with your preschoolers in Waumba Land. One of my favorite things about working in

Waumba Land, other than how cute all your kids are, is getting to hear their developing and often hysterical perspectives on the

world around them. In celebration of our Gwinnett Church dads, I asked some of my favorite GC kids why they love their dads! So here it is, straight from the mouths of babes:

“I love my daddy because he is nice and works hard to put a roof over our heads.”

“I love daddy because he is super awesome and he loves every kind of food and I love him cause of a reason and the reason is he always gives me knuckles and cuddles. And we always sometimes go bike riding. He is the best daddy ever.”

“I love my dad because he is funny, sweet, kind and takes care of me. He also works very hard for us. And because he was baptized with me!”

“I love my daddy because he has the best voice in the world and he give me cuddles when I am sick and he works really hard for us. And I love to dance with him to Beauty and the Beast. And he is like super awesome man. But super awesome man wears blue underwear on the outside of his pants and daddy does not do that.”

It is obvious, even to the littlest members of Gwinnett Church, that our dads are worth celebrating. They’ve got a hard job. They have to cut the grass, make the Saturday morning pancakes just right, keep all boys away from their daughters, be examples of men for their sons, and last, but certainly not least, be an earthly representation of our Heavenly Father.

The fathers of Gwinnett Church are doing just that. It’s incredible to see how kids will follow the examples set by the worship leaders, small group leaders, and volunteers of our church. They set an example not only for their own kids, but for every kid that walks through our doors on a Sunday. I’m so thankful to be serving in a place where I can so clearly see the evidence of our Heavenly Father among the service of the men at our church. That is so worth celebration!

I personally have been blessed with an incredible father who can laugh with me, cry with me, and at times, when I’m really sweet, go shopping with me. My favorite way to celebrate my dad is through letters. I love telling him about the impact he has made and continues to make on my life. His loyalty, perseverance, and steadfast heart have crafted in me a desire for a deep and personal relationship with Christ. I don’t say it enough, but I’m extremely grateful for him. However, what dad doesn’t love a gift-wrapped present? If you’re looking for another way to celebrate your dad, here is what we’re giving away in Waumba Land and UpStreet!

So, to all the dads and men of Gwinnett Church, thank you for serving. Thank you for leading by example. Thank you for making an impact in the life of our church. Happy Father’s Day!

How are you celebrating the men in your lives this Father’s Day?

A recap from Clay Scroggins “Boring Church” sermon in 10 sentences:

We all have felt bored at church at one point or another

Being bored at church can be dangerous

The longer we endure church, the more likely we are to endure God

The nature of our relationship with God goes from exciting to enduring

God is a relationship to enjoy, not to endure

If we are not enjoying God, something is not right

We can enjoy God because of His Grace

We can enjoy God with prayer, quiet time, small groups, serving, and giving

Challenge yourself to enjoy God

Change your scenery to see God differently

This was one of my all-time favorite weekends in the life of our two-year-old church. It actually started on Monday as our small group leaders gathered together in Suwanee Town Center to pray for our community, Friday’s event and for one another. Then, we all showed up in Suwanee for Food Truck Friday for an incredible night. The rain stayed away and it couldn’t have gone better. Thank you for being there and bringing your friends.

And finally, we got back together on Sunday to celebrate Kevin Coyne and Nick Kaiser’s baptisms among many other great things that happened last night. Since many of you hash-tagged your instagrams, tweets and other social media with #FORGwinnett we now have a fun collection of memories from the weekend that you can see here. Click the link, enjoy and thanks for being #FORGwinnett.
