South Dakota flu cases numbers lower than last year

The number of new influenza cases in South Dakota doubled from Jan. 28 to Feb. 4, according to the South Dakota Department of Health.

But the season is still off to a slow start.

The week of Jan. 23, the state reported 11 new cases. The final week of January, the most recent week reported by the Department of Health, had 22 new confirmed cases, all Influenza A.

The number of confirmed flu cases for the season is 56. Last year by this period, the state had 83 confirmed cases.

Five new hospitalizations were reported in the most recent report, putting the total for the season at 20 hospitalizations. There have been no influenza-related deaths.

An influenza virus similar to one found in wild birds but never before seen in seals has been linked to the recent spate of harbor seal deaths off northern New England, scientists said Tuesday. Since Sept. 1, 162 seals have been found dead from northern Massachusetts to Maine. The die-off struck young seals and was most intense in September and October, when deaths were about three to four times the normal number, said Charles Innes, the New England Aquarium's health director. The death rate has since slowed to normal levels.

كشفت وزارة الصحة السعودية أمس أن إجمالي من تم تطعيمهم بلقاح أنفلونزا الخنازير في المملكة منذ وصول اللقاح وحتى أمس بلغ حوالي 60 ألف شخص بما في ذلك طلاب وطالبات المرحلة الابتدائية، فيما بلغ عدد حالات المرض المؤكدة مخبرياً بالمملكة 15500 حالة، والمشخصة سريرياً 74752 حالة، في حين بلغ عدد الوفيات حتى الآن 124 حالة معظمهم من الأطفال والشباب والنساء الحوامل بعكس الأنفلونزا العادية والتي تصيب كبار السن ومن هم في سن 65 عاما فما فوق.

ومن ناحية اخرى توفيت ممرضة وطفلة منذ ساعات بمستشفى الفيوم العام كان قد تم احتجازهما أمس السبت، للاشتباه فى إصابتهما بمرض أنفلونزا الخنازير، وتم أخذ العينات اللازمة منهما، وإرسالها للمعامل المركزية بوزارة الصحة، ولم ترد نتائج تحاليل العينات الخاصة بهما إلى الآن. كانت ماجدة على السيد (44 سنة) ممرضة قد دخلت مستشفى الفيوم العام أمس وهى تعانى من ارتفاع شديد فى درجة الحرارة، واشتبه الأطباء فى إصابتها بمرض أنفلونزا الخنازير، كما احتجز المستشفى الطفلة سارة محمود محمد (5 سنوات) للاشتباه فى إصابتهما بنفس المرض، وتم أخذ العينات اللازمة منهما وإرسالها للمعامل المركزية بوزارة الصحة لتحليلها والتأكد من إصابتهما بالمرض من عدمه، ولكنهما توفيا منذ ساعات قبل ورود نتائج تحاليل العينات.

Vigilar el constante lavado de manos en alumnos y maestros

Recordar que el cubrebocas no previene la influenza (H1N1) por si solo. El mecanismo mas efectivo es el lavado de manos e higiene de espacios. Qué espacios debemos mantener limpios

My family had planned the trip a few months ago and we were very disappointed that the outbreak of H1N1 flu had derailed our travel plans. However, we followed the advice in the travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to avoid non-essential travel to the affected areas, which include Canada, Mexico and the US, since I would be travelling with my children, aged nine and 10. Credit card fraud warning on swine flu

Consumers have been warned to be wary of any emails they receive offering cures or remedies for swine flu - as they could actually be attempts to steal credit card details.

IT security firm McAfee reported that fraudsters are taking advantage of the global news story to scam consumers.

People are receiving emails with links to a site where medicine for the flu can supposedly be bought.

However, McAfee warned that the site will then simply steal the user's credit card details, or in some cases they will be sold counterfeit medicine.

Scammers have been turning to worldwide news stories in an effort to get internet users to open emails.

Last year, some fraudsters sent out fake emails containing links to a site which claimed to show the beginning of a US invasion of Iran.

The fake news site then downloaded malware onto visitors' computers.

Fake celebrity stories are also popular among fraudsters and McAfee revealed that some spam messages have combined the two - alleging that Madonna and actress Salma Hayek have contracted swine flu. Read more

Amid growing concern over the outbreak of swine flu, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has issued new information on the cover most travel insurance policies will provide for those affected by the condition.

Insurance providers should view swine flu in the same way as any other illness, the organisation said.

People who contract the virus while abroad will typically be covered for medical treatment. Travel policies should also meet the cost of rearranging flights or accommodation.

وقال الأكاديمي لفوف قائلاً: " نشهد الآن المرحلة الأولى من تطور وباء انفلونزا الخنازير. ولكن عملية انتشار هذا المرض ستحدث بطريقة سريعة وخاطفة ولا سيما أن الفيروس يمكن أن يصل بعد ساعات معدودة إلى أي منطقة في العالم بفضل تطور وسائل النقل الحديثة. على كل حال لا أستطيع ان أتصور كيف يمكن للإنسان أن يعرقل ثوران البركان أو أن يوقف تحرك السونامي أو أن يحول دون وقوع الزلازل. ولكن يجب علينا وخاصة اصحاب القرار أن ندرك وبسرعة أن هذا المرض عبارة عن كارثة طبيعية مثله مثل أي كارثة طبيعية أخرى كالأعاصير والزلازل وغيرها. وليس بوسع أحد القيام بأي شيء للحيلولة دون وقوع ذلك. وما يجب علينا أن نفعله هو أن نحاول التنبؤ بمثل هذه الأمراض وفعل ما يمكن للتخفيف من وطأتها وويلاتها. وإنني على قناعة تامة ، شأني شأن معظم العلماء في العالم ، أنه لا يمكن ايقاف المرض عبر الحجر الصحي".

منظمة الصحة العالمية تساعد الدول النامية ب50 مليون لقاح انفلونزا الخنازير

منظمة الصحة تصدر بيان لسبل الوقاية من انفلونزا الخنازير
التجارب المتاحة حتى الآن قد أظهرت دور المدارس في زيادة انتشار الفيروس داخل مبانيها وفي عموم المجتمع المحلي على حد سواء

لدى المنظمة لائحة تضم 95 دولة تستحق أن تتلقى جرعات اللقاح ويمكن أن تغطي هذه الجرعات 10% من سكان هذه الدول 50 مليون جرعة من لقاح إنفلونزا تقدمها منظمة الصحة العالمية للدول النامية

أصدرت منظمة الصحة العالمية اليوم إرشادات بشأن التدابير التي يمكن اتخاذها في المدارس للحد من أثر جائحة أنفلونزا H1N1 وتستند هذه التوصيات إلى التجارب التي عاشتها عدة بلدان في الآونة الأخيرة وإلى دراسات أجريت حول العواقب الناجمة عن إغلاق المدارس.
وأفادت منظمة الصحة العالمية أنه حتى الأسبوع الماضي نسبت نحو 2840 حالة وفاة للجائحة ووصل عدد الإصابات إلى 254.000.

كما ذكرت المنظمة أن التجارب المتاحة حتى الآن قد أظهرت دور المدارس في زيادة انتشار الفيروس داخل مبانيها وفي عموم المجتمع المحلي على حد سواء وأنه في حين تمثّل الفاشيات التي تندلع في المدارس بوضوح جانباً هاماً من الجائحة الراهنة فإنه لا يوجد أي تدبير بإمكانه وقف انتقال العدوى في المدارس أو الحد منها، مما يتيح للفيروس فرصاً متعددة للانتشار.

ولا تزال المنظمة توصي الطلاب والمدرسين وغيرهم من العاملين في المدارس بضرورة البقاء في بيوتهم في حالة شعورهم بتوعك صحي. كما ينبغي وضع الخطط اللازمة وتهيئة المساحات الكافية لعزل الطلاب والعاملين المصابين بالمرض أثناء وجودهم في المدارس.

وحثت منظمة الصحة العالمية المدارس على الترويج لأهمية نظافة الأيدي وأخلاقيات التنفس وتخزين الإمدادات المناسبة كما توصي بتنظيف المساحات وتهويتها بشكل سليم وتنفيذ ما يلزم من تدابير للحد من التكدس.

وذكرت المنظمة أنه ليس بإمكانها تقديم توصيات محددة بخصوص غلق أو فتح المدارس يمكن تطبيقها في جميع الأماكن ولكنها تقدم بعض الإرشادات العامة وأضافت أن مباشرة إغلاق المدارس كتدبير استباقي يرمي إلى الحد من تفشي المرض في تلك المباني وانتشاره منها إلى المجتمع المحلي.

كما يمكن أن يكون إغلاق المدارس من تدابير الاستجابة عندما يتم ذلك بسبب ارتفاع مستويات تغيّب الطلاب والعاملين إلى درجة يتعذّر فيها مواصلة العملية التعليمية.

وأشارت المنظمة إلى أن توقيت إغلاق المدارس يكتسي أهمية حاسمة وأنه ذو نفع أكبر عندما يتم في المراحل المبكّرة جداً من الفاشية ومن الأنسب القيام بذلك قبل أن يطال المرض 1% من السكان.

وقالت منظمة الصحة العالمية إنه يجب على المسؤولين الصحيين والسلطات المدرسية عند اتخاذ القرارات، إدراك التكاليف الاقتصادية والاجتماعية التي يمكن أن تكون عالية بشكل مفرط عند الموازنة بينها وبين المنافع المحتملة

50 مليون جرعة من لقاح إنفلونزا تقدمها منظمة الصحة العالمية للدول النامية

قامت منظمة الصحة العالمية بتوقيع اتفاقية مع شركة غلاكسو سميث كلاين للأدوية، تقوم بموجبها الأخيرة بالتبرع بنحو 50 مليون جرعة من لقاح أنفلونزا النوع (أ) للمنظمة مع نهاية الشهر الحالي.
ولدى المنظمة لائحة تضم 95 دولة تستحق أن تتلقى جرعات اللقاح ويمكن أن تغطي هذه الجرعات 10% من سكان هذه الدول.

وقالت المديرة العامة للمنظمة، مارغريت تشان، "نحن نرحب بهذا التبرع السخي والذي سيحمي صحة الأشخاص الأشد فقرا في العالم".

وأضافت "إن هذا تضامن عالمي مع الذين لا يستطيعون الحصول على هذا اللقاح وستعمل المنظمة على وصول هذه اللقاحات لمن يحتاجون إليها".

وكانت المنظمة قد حذرت الأسبوع الماضي من أن العالم لم يصل بعد إلى موسم انتشار الإنفلونزا وهو ما بين كانون ثاني/يناير وشباط/فبراير حيث يتوقع وقوع المزيد من الحالات، كما أكدت المنظمة أنه وعلى الرغم من العوارض الجانبية للقاح إلا أنه أفضل الأدوات المتاحة لمكافحة الإنفلونزا.

وحتى الأول من الشهر الحالي تم الإبلاغ عن 482.000 حالة مؤكدة من إنفلونزا النوع (أ) في أنحاء العالم مع وقوع 6000 حالة وفاة.

L'OMS a signé un accord avec Glaxo Smith Kline Pharmaceuticals, en vertu de laquelle le dernier à faire un don d'environ 50 millions de doses de vaccin contre la grippe de type (a) de l'Organisation d'ici la fin de ce mois. L'Organisation a une liste de 95 pays méritent de recevoir des doses de vaccin et peut couvrir ces doses 10% de la population de ces États.

Elle a déclaré le Directeur général, Margaret Chan, «Nous nous félicitons de ce don généreux, qui permettra de protéger la santé des personnes les plus pauvres dans le monde."

Elle a ajouté que «C'est la solidarité mondiale avec ceux qui ne peuvent pas recevoir ce vaccin, et l'OMS vont travailler sur l'arrivée de ces vaccins à ceux qui en ont besoin."

L'organisation avait prévenu la semaine dernière que le monde n'a pas encore atteint la propagation de la saison de la grippe se situe entre Janvier et Février car il est prévu l'apparition de nouveaux cas, l'organisation a également souligné que, malgré les effets secondaires du vaccin, mais les meilleurs outils disponibles pour combattre la grippe.

Et même le premier de ce mois ont été signalés 482.000 cas confirmés de type aviaire (a) dans le monde avec l'apparition de 6000 morts.
