She developed a fever of 103 and continued for most of Wednesday with it. She seemed better yesterday (Thursday), but was still not herself. She woke up this morning and could not walk (her legs were paralyzed). Bobbi and Jeff have taken her to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing and we are waiting word. We think she has Guillain Barre and, if so, the, paralysis can spread to her other limbs and her face. We are requesting prayer from you and as many believers as you have contact with."

Italian family physicians refuse to prescribe the A/H1N1 vaccine for their patients, claiming that the risks of the vaccine outweigh its benefits.

Latest figures revealed that swine flu has infected more than 540,000 individuals, claiming the lives of 30 in Italy.

The country has ordered some 48 million doses of the A/H1N1 vaccine, enough to immunize 24 million of its population, and plans to start a mass vaccination program in the coming weeks.

Italian media outlets have, however, claimed that many of these vaccines would be useless as the majority of Italians including the Deputy Health Minister Ferruccio Fazio and the Mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno have decided against vaccination.

According to a recent survey conducted, six out of every ten Italian family physicians do not prescribe the A/H1N1 vaccine for their patients particularly those with heart diseases.

A member of the European Association for Quality in General Medicine(EQUIP), Gianluigi Passerini told L'espresso that he would not advise vaccination for his patients, adding, "This virus is not aggressive and there is no reason to force individuals to get immunized against the virus."

Mario Nejrotti, the director of torinomedica.com, similarly, stressed that healthcare workers should only be urged to get vaccinated based on the severity and spread of the virus.

He added that a similar vaccine manufactured in the US in 1976 had contributed to a considerable number of cases with a severe neurological disease known as Guillain-Barré syndrome.

On a cold, overcast December afternoon in 2004, I briefly met with Viktor Yuschenko, the Ukrainian President.

He had been treated for poisoning at a hospital in Döbling and when he was released, he held a press conference surrounded by doctors and attended by scores of journalists.

Yuschenko stood there barely saying a word, looking haggard and with a bluish pallor: his face was pock marked and his hair was an unnatural colour; his eyes were full of mistrust and fear even though the private Rudolfinerhaus clinic held few threats.

Five years on, this shattered looking individual, who was once the head of a pro democracy movement, is about to proclaim himself a dictator.

Ukraine is the first country to come under the control of the WHO and the UN under the International Health Regulations 2005, and the reality is that Yuschenko and his Prime Minister Julia Timoschenko are just carrying out the orders from WHO and the UN when they suspend civic rights and democracy under the pretext of fighting a pandemic emergency.

Whatever is left of freedom in the Ukraine is about to be extinguished.

Elections in January are set to be suspended.

Demonstrations have been banned.

Political opponents have been prohibited from travelling inside areas put under quarantine.

Borders have been partly closed already.

Critics of a mass vaccination campaign are facing criminal prosecution and goal.

Huge swathes of land have been put under quarantine.

Plans are in the works for the forced vaccination of people with a toxic and untested swine flu vaccine. The US government is planning to send nearly a million doses of the jab. a substance classified as a bioweapon, to the Ukraine by early December…..

Yuschenko has justified implementing martial law on behalf of WHO by the sudden appearance of a pneumonic plague in the western part of the Ukraine that appears to be artificially engineered.

There have been reports of planes spraying towns before the appearance of the plague. WHO was part of an exercise on plague bioterrorism just a month before the actual plague appeared. Baxter has a facility in the Ukraine.

WHO and the international corporate crime syndicate that fund them, may have decided that they could not go ahead with their plan to trigger a pandemic in Europe and the USA because the public awareness of the dangers of the vaccine jab has become too great, not least as a result of WHO and Baxter being caught contaminating 72 kilos of vaccine material with the live bird flu virus in February.

Miniscule numbers of people have gone to take the swine flu vaccine across Europe. In Sweden the numbers might also be as low as a few thousand because the government only counts how many doses of the swine flu have been distributed (1.4 million) and not how many jabs have actually been given.

The Ukraine may, therefore, have seemed like a better place to test their model and carry out their plan of generating a plague, panic, confusion, declaring a mutated virus, inserting the virus into vaccines, and waging biological warfare against defenceless civilian population eventually using Ukraine’s own army and military through a forced vaccination programme.

Expect WHO, which is examining the Ukrainian mystery virus, to announce the swine flu has morphed into the bird flu to spread panic. This will be an excuse for WHO to insert the live bird flu virus into vaccines, and so spread the pandemic even further.

WHO has been preparing for years for a bird flu pandemic, after all. The bird flu is an artificial lab virus reconstructed from the Spanish Flu pandemic virus by US scientists in a bioweapons lab.

The Austrian corporate media – controlled by the same corporate crime syndicate that pull the strings of WHO – are preparing the people here for the idea that the pandemic could soon spread. Five flights a day land from Kiev and there are no precautions to test infected people in place, pipes an Austrian newspaper.

How long until the Austrian newspapers declare the plague or bird flu has reached Austria? How long until we see the attempt by the government at the brutal implementation of martial law preceding forced vaccinations and quarantines?

The number of police and private security forces patrolling on the streets in Austria has certainly increased dramatically recently. There are even uniformed, private security guards now patrolling Vienna University’s libraries, something totally new. Extra police have been put in the airports and border crossings. The army command structure has been centralized.

Special army units based in Korneuburg, the same place where Baxter has its facilities, have bene practicing pandemic emergency exercises and quarantining patients in hospitals.

The Austrian government is facing protests from students and an ecomonic collapse engineered by the corporate crime syndicate that funds big pharma and WHO. The government has saddled the Austrians with huge debts to the banks that will suck out of the economy huge amounts of money leaving even less for students, pensioners as Depression comparable with the 30s approaches.

The evidence of crimes committed by members of the government is so great that if the Justice Minister Claudia Bandion Ortner were not herself so corrupt, then most of the parliament would be in gaol.

How long until the Austrian government, corrupted to the core, threatens people with martial law under the pretext of a pandemic to avoid having to face accountability for their crimes?

How long until WHO and UN officials following the orders of the banksters and pharma companies take over the health service and the police and mandate forced vaccinations and quarantines in Austria?

With a bridgehead in western Europe for their pandemic plans, WHO could then attempt the same tricks in other countries as in Austria.

Recent comments made by Clinton reflect the mindset of the neo-Malthusian scientists currently occupying key positions in the Obama administration.

During a visit to India in July of this year, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton revealed not only the administration’s commitment to tackle ‘global climate change’, but also her willingness to link it to overpopulation.

After a roundtable discussion with Indian Minister for Environment Jairam Ramesh, Clinton openly pondered this supposed link:

“One of the participants”, Clinton stated, “pointed out that it’s rather odd to talk about climate change and what we must do to stop and prevent the ill effects without talking about population and family planning.”

“That was an incredibly important point”, Clinton added. “And yet, we talk about these things in very separate and often unconnected ways.”

These recent comments made by Clinton reflect the mindset of the neo-Malthusian scientists currently occupying key positions in the Obama administration.

It may not come as a complete surprise to those who have studied the matter in some depth. The same Malthusian idea that triggered eugenics in the past now inspires the current environmentalist movement pushing global carbon taxes and other supranational measures, supposedly to ‘curb our carbon footprint’.

Swedish woman got the "swine flu" in spite of vaccination against it.

In an article today in Expressen a Swedish woman tells her story about how she got the "swine flu". That would have been ordinary but in her case she was vaccinated against it five days earlier. In the article it is implied that she got the flu from someone else and that her vaccination did not "take effect" for another several days.

In reality it seems to be a typical case of someone who actually got the flu from the shot. This is a well known and well documented phenomena with many types of vaccinations.

She had no symptoms for several days but the cough and in the night "it felt like I had a thousand warriors in my body". She went to the emergency reception at the local hospital and was kept there for three days. They gave her anti viral drug Tamiflu.

Now she is very critical to how authorities in Sweden have handled the information about the poisonous Pandemrix "swine flu" shot.

"- After having received the shot, I lived in a state of false security", "Nowhere did I get the information that it would take ten days or two to three weeks for the vaccine to become effective"

Swine flu vaccine: All schoolchildren may get vaccinated as government considers extending vaccination programme.

All healthy schoolchildren may be vaccinated against swine flu, the Department of Health revealed today, as it issued guidance on how to help pregnant women who catch the infection.

Confirmation that the government is considering extending the vaccination programme came as the Conservatives called for all pupils to be immunised against the H1N1 virus.

Cases of the disease in England increased only marginally this week to 84,000, according to official estimates. The latest figures show 154 people have died from swine flu – 105 in England, eight in Wales, 31 in Scotland and 10 in Northern Ireland. Seventeen people have died in the UK in the past week.

The chief medical officer, Sir Liam Donaldson, confirmed the government's Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation is examining whether to extend the vaccination programme.

Healthy children are not among the priority groups in the first round of vaccinations. "We would hope to take a decision on [inoculating them] in the next few weeks," he said. "We are looking very hard at the next steps. We will have to work out whether any groups in the healthy population will have to be prioritised."

The Tory health spokesman, Andrew Lansley, proposed a universal schools vaccination programme. "For weeks now, behind the scenes," he said, "I have urged the government to go further: they should extend the vaccination programme to schoolchildren and college students.

"Last week in America I met swine flu experts at the Health and Human Services Department. Their data shows the incidence and severity of swine flu is significantly greater in the under-24 age group, compared to the rest of the healthy population. They have called all young people for vaccination, including a school-located vaccination programme. I think we should follow their lead."

The Department of Health said the US had so far left it up to individual states to determine what they believed were the priority groups deserving protection.

Its new advice to help doctors recognise serious symptoms in pregnant women has been released, suggesting those with high heart rates or shortness of breath when first infected are most at risk of serious illness or death.

Is Baxter behind the outbreak of pneumonic plague in the Ukraine?

Evidence appears to suggest that Baxter International is responsible for a new deadly outbreak of viral pneumonia in Ukraine.

In February of 2009 Bloomberg reported that Baxter “accidentally” send vaccine material containing both live Avian bird flu and seasonal influenza to multiple laboratories worldwide. A laboratory decided to test the vaccine on it’s ferrets, but the ferrets all unexpectedly died. It must be noted that Baxter has made a “mistake” like this before. Blood products produced by Baxter once containd HIV. Thousands of haemophiliacs died due to this, and many went on to infect their spouses.

Later in the year, a bizarre story emerged on the internet. The Huffington Post reported on a a man named Joseph Moshe who was arrested after a hours long standoff with the police because he had supposedly made threats against the White House. The man was able to withstand multiple rounds of tear gas.

However, the internet community was very skeptical of the true reasons behidn this man’s arrest. Comments on the Huffington Post website immediately began pouring in about an unreported side to this story, namely that Joseph Moshe was a Mossad Agent specialized in biological warfare who called into a radio show to warn people about a biological weapn that was being made by Baxter international that would be spread through vaccine and would cause a plague upon it’s release.

Although anyone can make a doomsday claim and we should never believe anyone (and it must be said that the Truth movement handled this well, the message was spread without being proclaimed as gospel) the amazing part about Moshe’s claim was the location where Moshe said the biological weapon was being produced.

Moshe claimed that Baxter’s laboratory in the Ukraine out of all places was creating this biological weapon. All of this came out in the beginning of August, which is more than 2 months before the situation that is currently unfolding. For Moshe to correctly name the country where a new epidemic would be unleashed, requires either inside information, or an incredible coincidence as anyone with a basic knowledge of statistics can confirm for himself.

Let us assume for a moment that every person on our planet has an equal chance of giving rise to a new lethal epidemic due to a virus that mutates as it spreads through his body. The Ukraine has 46 million inhabitants. The current estimated global population is about 6.7 billion. This means that if a new epidemic were to arise, the chance of this epidemic starting in the Ukraine would be 0.69%. However, it appears that this virus is a form of flu. This makes the odds of being right when guessing that a deadly flu is going to break out in the Ukraine even smaller. The reason for this is that back in early August the vast majority of influenza infections were found in different countries than the Ukraine. In fact, on 30 Oktober, Earthtimes reported that Ukraine had officially reported only two cases of swine flu, and no deaths, until last Friday. This deadly epidemic appears to have arrived out of nowhere in the Ukraine.

Moshe’s biomed profile appears to confirm his position as a microbiologist. Furthermore, this page with Baxter’s contact information for it’s Ukraine office confirms that Baxter has a presence in the Ukraine.

It must also be noted that massive numbers of microbiologists have been dying bizarre deaths. This case of what appears to be a brave man who sacrificed it all to bring us this message may explain why so many microbiologists have been murdered. The fact that this man managed to predict an outbreak of highly lethal influenza in a place where we would least expect it, 2 months before it a actually occured, lends credence to his claim that Baxter International is responsible for the outbreak and shows that top microbiologists can pose a problem to the people responsible for this ongoing disaster.

The 1918 influenza was not the flu Americans were familiar with. It was a horror that turned victims bluish-black then drowned them with their own body fluids. the death toll was highest in the ages 15 to 40, those in the peak of health. The victims would be fine one minute and the next incapacitated, fever-racked, and delirious. Temperatures rose to 104-106 degrees, skin turned blue, purple, or deep brown from lack of oxygen. Massive pneumonia attacked the lungs, filling them with fluid; blood gushed from the nose. Death was quick, savage, and terrifying.

Compare this to reports that are coming out from Ukraine:

Five persons have died from the flue in Lviv, four men and one woman, says emergency hospital chief doctor Myron Borysevych.

Two of the dead patients were in the 22-35 age group, with 2 others over 60. He diagnosed the disease as viral pneumonia.(…)

Viral tests can last from one to two weeks. They are complicated and not done in Lviv. The course of the disease was very quick. The symptoms included very high temperature and short-wind cough.(…)

All the six dead young people had symptoms of severe hemmorhagic pneumonia. The disease starts slowly, with temperature rising to 37.2 – 37.3 degrees, slight cough and pain in joints. Nasal catarrh developed at the end of the second or third day. Autopsy revealed that the lungs were soaked with blood, the oblast chief specialist said.

In Lake in the Hills, Illinois, police will conduct a drill to combat a fictitious pneumonic plague on Saturday. “The Lake in the Hills Police Department is carrying out the test as part of a grant from the McHenry County Department of Health for its emergency health plan. In case of a biological terrorist attack or widespread disease outbreak, the site would be able get medicine to the community, Lake in the Hills Chief of Patrol Services David Brey said,” reports the Northwest Herald. Brey said officials picked pneumonic plague for the scenario “so it would have nothing to do with the swine flu.”

In Ukraine, the pneumonic plague is not fictional, although officials in that country insist the disease is a mutated version of the H1N1 virus, not pneumonic plague. Over the period of six days, the mystery disease has afflicted more than 500,000 people. The plague or virus in the Ukraine has 10 times the mortality rate than the normal swine flu. In late October, officials in Ivano-Frankivsk, a city located in southwestern Ukraine, characterized the outbreak as pneumonic plague. Pneumonic plague is caused by bacterium and is more virulent and less common than bubonic plague

Official Ukranian sources place the number of death at 33 (as of November 5) and the news website ZIK claims a total of 97 deaths. Deutsche Presse-Agentur put the number at 95 and reported on November 5 that 633,877 Ukrainians nationwide have registered with health authorities as suffering from the flu. Doctors in the region, however, dispute this and say thousands have died.

Residents of Kiev claim light aircraft sprayed a mysterious substance on residents of the city, according to Radio Netherlands Worldwide. The spraying was denied by the country’s Office of Emergency Response.

Reports from Ukraine on the mystery illness are contradictory and confusing. “While the mainstream media is reporting that it is a surge in H1N1 influenza, alternative media sources are reporting that it is a new unidentified virus, while other reports cite witnesses in Ukraine who say there is no evidence of a pandemic at all,” Steve Watson wrote for Infowars on November 2.

On November 5, it was reported by the alternative media that a town in China was locked down after 2 people died from an outbreak of pneumonic plague. In August, the Associated Press reported on a deadly outbreak of pneumonic plague in a remote farming town in northwestern China.

It should be emphasized that at this time there is no conclusive evidence that Ukraine is suffering from an outbreak of pneumonic plague. Experts note that if the country was indeed suffering from the illness the death rate would be much higher.

However, it is odd that a preparedness drill in the United States would use the pneumonic plague as its fictional predicate. It is not explained why officials in Lake in the Hills have chosen to avoid basing their drill on the H1N1 virus.

Lake in the Hills has ranked high in Illinois cities taking federal money for “homeland security” initiatives, according to a survey conducted by the Daily Herald.

It is not known if the Department of Homeland Security is involved in the drill to be conducted this weekend.

Canadian official calls for Army to help with "swine flu" Mass Vaccination

An Ottawa city councillor wants to call in the Armed Forces to help conduct swine flu vaccinations.Coun. Bob Monette said Thursday he has written to federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq asking if doctors, nurses and medics from the Canadian Forces could be deployed in cities across Canada to help with the H1N1 vaccinations.

Monette said the idea came to him after speaking with a constituent who's a member of the Forces.

"Why not think of all the possibilities?" Monette said.

"This was one more possibility that I found was worthwhile looking into, and let's see if anything comes from it. If we can get one or two doctors, a nurse, to help out, then it's worthwhile," he said.

Ottawa-Orleans MP Royal Galipeau has endorsed Monette's idea. He said he's also written to the health minister and to the minister of defence.Source

Doctors at Sassoon Hospital, who are in the thick of the swine flu battle, are a worried lot. Thirty-five patients with swine flu-like symptoms died in the last 45 days at the hospital, and not one of them tested positive for swine flu. The doctors still don't know what caused the death of these patients.Source

And on other side of the globe More than 30 people have died in the Ukraine as a result of a mysterious new virus that has an affinty for the lungs, according to reports in Switzerland.Source

The Ukranian Health Ministry has said that the origin of the virus is unknown, but its affinity for the lungs and the way it attacks young people strongly suggests it is a virulent form of the H1N1"swine flu" virus.

WHO recently confirmed that the H1N1 virus showed no signs of mutating to become more virulent. The emergence of this virulent strain could, therefore, be linked with the activities of scientists, such as Professor Bruno Lina in France, who was actively searching for a virulence gene.

Almost 40,000 people have fallen sick with 951 people having to be hospitalised.

Canada Two bad reactions from swine flu jab in Winnipeg

Since the mass immunization began in Winnipeg Monday, two people have had rare allergic reactions to it, according to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.

"We have had two incidents involving some allergic-type symptoms," said Dr. Sande Harlos, a WRHA medical officer of health. "This is what we're prepared to deal with."

The maker of the H1N1 vaccine, GlaxoSmithKline, warns that up to one in 1,000 doses may result in an allergic reaction leading to a "dangerous decrease of blood pressure."

"That's why you're asked to wait 15 minutes afterwards," Harlos said. A severe reaction will happen within minutes of getting the shot.

By 3 p.m. Tuesday, 15,695 Winnipeggers had been immunized without incident. When someone reacts badly to the vaccine, there are medical staff on hand to help, Harlos said.

The vaccine recipient is taken to hospital to be kept under observation. Harlos said the two people who reacted badly to the vaccine -- one on Monday and one on Tuesday -- are OK. "They left in good condition."

Meanwhile, Winnipegger Janice Dehod is worried about her allergy to the mercury-based preservative thimerosal used in the vaccine.

"I know if it is in eye drops or contact lens preserver, it will make my the skin around my eyes puff up and swell in a really ugly way," she said. "I am not sure what thimerosal will do in my veins."

Harlos said unless someone has a severe egg or thimerosal allergy, they shouldn't have a severe reaction to the vaccine.

"Some people have a mild reaction when it's used topically. That isn't the same as a systemic whole-body reaction," Harlos said.

A severe allergic reaction is an anaphylactic response -- the throat closes, blood pressure plunges and airways tighten, said Dr. Joel Kettner, Manitoba's chief medical officer of health.

Dehod said she has had an adverse reaction to a flu vaccine in the past, but doesn't know if it contained thimerosal. She wishes Manitoba would obtain vaccine without thimerosal.

"I don't want to be one of those people that falls through the cracks and gets H1N1 because Manitoba Health did a pretty good job for most people and gambled with the health of those that are a little more sensitive to preservative."

The Belgian association of doctors has called for the government's interministerial commissioner for the flu, the virologist Marc Van Ranst, to be fired after he said on Thursday that the Pandemrix swine flu jab with the adjuvant squalene was safe for pregnant women, reports Belgian's Le Soir newspaper.

There are no clinical data on the swine flu vaccine with adjuvants on pregnant women. A trial on pregnant women has just started and involves a swine flu jab without adjuvants. Also, the trial will be finished until the end of next year long after the jabs are to be given.

German doctors have said pregnant women should not get a jab with adjuvants.

The row in Belgian comes after a group of citizens took legal action in a bid to force the government to inform people of the risks associated with the "swine flu" jab as part of free and informed consent.

A poll published Wednesday in Le Journal du Médecin shows that 75% of Belgian doctors think that the "manner in which the flu commissariat communicates with the medical body generates confusion."

More than six out of ten doctors thought that the Commissariat "was provoking pain in the heart of the population."

CDC States H1N1 Vaccine May Maim and Kill 30,000 Americans, FDA Requires Minimal Vaccine Efficacy

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has officially stated that there will be as many as 30,000 serious, potentially lethal adverse reactions to the novel H1N1 vaccine, while the FDA guidelines for the novel H1N1 vaccine only require that it work in 3 out of every 10 recipients.

Last Saturday, I attended one of 10 “public engagement” meetings the CDC is holding across the country, utilizing a new model of public engagement designed to provide a public viewpoint or societal perspective on the topic at hand (mass vaccination) to the sponsor (in this case, the CDC).

Part of the process entails the sponsor (CDC) providing the following: “Information on the many sides of an issue is provided to the participants in a fair and balanced manner so that all participants become well-informed, and the overall group process is convened and managed in a neutral, respectful fashion.”

This requirement is met by providing an oral presentation in easy to understand language, a booklet summarizing the key facts needed and a discussion guide summarizing the choices faced.

The assembled group of 80 participants was shown a video, given a brief oral presentation and a printed discussion guide. We were asked to accept several assumptions in considering the topic. We were asked to assume that the severity would be similar to what had already been observed in the spring of 2009; we were told to assume that the vaccination program would be voluntary, not mandatory; we were told to assume that initial vaccine supplies will be available in October but supply would be limited through February 2010.

The most disturbing assumption we were asked to accept dealt with the safety of the novel H1N1 vaccine. In the video, the CDC spokesperson explained that during the 1976 mass vaccination campaign, 1 in every 100,000 recipients of the vaccine developed Guillain Barré syndrome (GBS), a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system often leading to paralysis and death. There is no known cure for GBS.

In 1976 roughly 40 million Americans received the vaccine and some 4,000 developed GBS.

The printed material that was distributed reiterated these horrific statistics and we were asked to accept the assumption that, “the estimated risk for more serious reactions (e.g. Guillain Barré syndrome) is between 1-10 per million persons vaccinated”.

This is a less direct way of stating that the risk is about the same as existed during the 1976 mass vaccination attempt and that as many as 1 in every 100,000 recipients will develop GBS or some other serious adverse reaction. The CDC is setting up a new intensive surveillance system with which to monitor and track GBS cases that result from the novel H1N1 vaccine.

Merriam-Webster defines assumption as a fact or statement taken for granted and assumed to be true. If we accept the documented assumption presented by the CDC, we are to consider it a fact that 1 in every 100,000 vaccine recipients will suffer a serious adverse effect such as GBS.

This means that if the entire U.S. population is vaccinated (a stated goal of the CDC), we are to assume as a fact that 30,000 Americans will suffer debilitating or lethal side effects. Apparently the CDC considers this an acceptable level of collateral damage.

As unthinkable as this is (destroying or ending the lives of as many as 30,000 Americans), that is only part of the story.

The novel H1N1 vaccine being developed must adhere to guidelines set forth by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA has announced that a vaccine will be accepted if it creates antibodies in 4 out of 10 recipients (40%), with at least 70 percent of those 4 achieving an antibody level believed to provide benefit. This means that an acceptable vaccine candidate would provide “protection” for 28% of vaccine recipients (70% of the 40%), or less than 3 in 10 recipients. The requirement drops to 18% efficacy for those over 65 years of age (60% of 30%).

So here are the facts, as documented by the CDC and the FDA:

As many as 30,000 Americans will be harmed by the novel H1N1 vaccine.

The vaccine may be ineffective in more than 7 out of 10 recipients.

And in case you think I am alone in my concerns, here is what several vaccine experts associated with the CDC and the U.S. government say on the subject.

"I am very skeptical of finishing vaccine before we know the appropriate dose to be included in each inoculation, before immunogenicity studies are complete, or before safety assessments have been finished," William Schaffner, MD, Chairman of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Vanderbilt University and a member of the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), wrote in an recent e-mail.

"We have assured both the profession and the public that the H1N1 vaccine will be evaluated with the same rigor that is applied to seasonal vaccine. We should NOT make vaccine available before the trials are complete and the results carefully assessed."

Others are worried about a repeat of the last swine flu "pandemic," now regarded as a public health and public relations debacle.

"I fear that a rush towards vaccinating the population without completing trials risks leading to the harmful outcome that we witnessed during the 1976 swine flu scare, where the government advocated rapid production and vaccination of the population without adequate safeguards, which led to an unexplained increase in cases of Guillain Barré syndrome (GBS), amongst other complications, and massive liability for the government," wrote Amir Afkhami, MD, PhD, of George Washington University, an international expert on the 1918 Influenza pandemic and an advisor to the U.S. State Department, the U.S. military, and the World Bank on issues pertaining to infectious diseases, public health and, mental health.

"I think in this regard, we must learn from lessons of the past and be mindful of not jumping from the proverbial frying pan into the fire by putting people's health at risk without adequate production and safety monitoring of the vaccines."

The safety of Northern Ireland’s swine flu vaccination programme was called into question today by the parent of a young special needs pupil who ended up in hospital just hours after getting the jab.

Anne Marie Fletcher said she feared her 15-year-old son Rhys was going to die as she rushed him to hospital less than 24 hours after receiving the swine flu vaccine.

The teenager fell seriously ill after receiving the injection, along with thousands of other pupils across Northern Ireland last Friday. He was later diagnosed with swine flu.

“My husband drove us to Antrim (Area Hospital) and I sat in the back with Rhys,” she told the Belfast Telegraph.

“By this stage he was going into spasms. He couldn’t bend his fingers. I was absolutely terrified.

“He was rambling and becoming incoherent. I honestly thought he was going to die in the back of the car.

“He kept saying he wanted to sleep but I wouldn’t dare let him close his eyes because I was frightened that if I did he would never wake up.”

The Public Health Agency, the organisation tasked with managing Northern Ireland’s response to the swine flu pandemic, has stated clearly that anyone suffering from flu-like symptoms should remain at home and contact their GP by telephone.

The experience of the Fletcher family from Carrickfergus calls into question whether Government protocols regarding the handling of swine flu are being followed. It is the latest episode to shake public confidence after the family of a Londonderry teenager who died with the virus was not informed she had it until after her funeral.

Some 2,500 children in over 20 special schools for severe learning disability across Northern Ireland were offered the vaccine last week after four pupils died with the virus this month.

The Fletcher family’s ordeal began on Friday, several hours after 15-year-old Rhys received the swine flu vaccine at Hillcroft Special School in Newtownabbey.

“I was concerned about Rhys having the vaccination but after what I heard about the four children with special needs dying after contracting swine flu I thought it was better to be safe than sorry,” Mrs Fletcher said.

“I took him into school on Friday and he had his injection. A few hours later he started complaining of having a sore arm. He also had a temperature and he was starting to cough. During the night he started to complain that he felt sick. He was up and down most of the night retching.”

Mrs Fletcher contacted the out-of-hours GP service and was told to bring Rhys to Whiteabbey Hospital. She expressed concerns about bringing him to a hospital in light of his symptoms.

“He was in a lot of discomfort and a lot of pain. He was surrounded by people and they were objecting about him being in the waiting area. When we were eventually seen we were told he had to be referred to Antrim Area Hospital.

“My husband drove us to Antrim and I sat in the back with Rhys. By this stage he was going into spasms. He couldn’t bend his fingers, I was absolutely terrified. He was rambling and becoming incoherent. I honestly thought he was going to die in the back of the car.

“He kept saying he wanted to sleep but I wouldn’t dare let him close his eyes because I was frightened that if I did he would never wake up.”

Following treatment at Antrim Area Hospital the teenager’s condition improved enough for him to be discharged, but several hours after returning home the family received a telephone call from the Public Health Agency.

“They mentioned that Rhys may have swine flu when he was in Antrim Hospital but then they said he didn’t have it and he was probably suffering from a reaction from the injection, although they said they couldn’t be sure,” continued Mrs Fletcher.

“We took Rhys home and just before 11pm we got a call from a doctor with the Public Health Agency who wanted to discuss Rhys’ symptoms. They phoned again about 11.10pm and asked me to bring Rhys to Dalriada (out of hours GP) to be tested for swine flu, but I told them I wasn’t taking him anywhere at that time of night.

“They phoned back later and said there was no urgency and we could bring in the morning, but I refused. I told them I thought people with suspected swine flu shouldn’t be taken to hospital and they said it was OK because they could see him in a private room.

“I was disgusted at this point and said I wouldn’t bring Rhys to hospital, so eventually a district nurse came out on Sunday to take some swabs. We got a phone call later on to say he had swine flu.”

Mrs Fletcher said she was horrified at the treatment her son has received and that she has serious concerns that countless other people have been exposed to the virus as a result.

“Rhys is still very listless and I’m worried he could become badly affected by the swine flu. He is on Tamiflu now but I’m also worried he could suffer side-effects from that as well.”

The Department of Health said it could not comment on operational matters, while the Public Health Agency did not provide a response.

A spokesman from the Northern Health Trust said: “We appreciate that this issue was brought to our attention. We cannot discuss individual cases but there is an agreed protocol for dealing with cases such as this. A number of agencies were involved and clearly the protocol was not followed as it should have been.

“We appreciate the concerns that this will have caused and we will examine the circumstances with our partner organisations to make sure this does not happen again.”

Meanwhile, the Health Minister has announced that the swine flu vaccination is to be offered to staff who provide personal care for pupils at special schools here.

The vaccination programme for children with complex special needs was carried out last week.

“The staff who provide personal care to the vulnerable children within special schools for severe learning disability are doing similar work as frontline health and social care workers. Therefore I believe that this move will further protect this vulnerable group of children and young people. I have asked the Public Health Agency to make arrangements to offer vaccine to this group of staff as quickly as possible,” Michael McGimpsey said.

‘Poisoning attempt’ charges filed against French "swine flu" mass vaccination campaign

In what is being seen as the first of many such actions to come, nine individuals have filed formal charges claiming that the H1N1 campaign is a deliberate attempt to poison the French population.

These charges, which were filed yesterday, could not come at a more inopportune moment for the government and health specialists. The vaccination campaign got underway last Tuesday in a climate of national skepticism as to the vaccine’s safety and efficiency, and this news will surely boost the morale of the increasing number of anti-vaccine lobbyists who are beginning to organize their resistance to any attempt to vaccinate the population against H1N1.

Nine inhabitants of the Isére region of France are cited as joint plaintiffs in the case, including a health sector worker, a teacher and a radio talk show host. They met each other at various public meetings held to denounce the vaccine’s alleged health risks.

The charges take the form of a ‘plainte contre X’ which means that the perpetrator of an alleged crime or felony is not known, or is not named, in the charge sheet. This is a commonly used manner of filing complaints in France, particularly where the charges relate to supposed government implication in alleged breaches of the law. In cases where those trials proceed after prior examination of the facts, the specific persons or organizations concerned are designated and charged as the trial proceeds.

Jean-Pierre Joseph, the plaintiffs’ lawyer, describes the vaccination campaign as “A veritable attempt to poison.” He confirmed that the charges were filed at the High Court in Grenoble before the court’s senior examining magistrate. He said other court cases involving other plaintiffs would begin soon

The various charges filed included one of “Attempting to administer substances…of a nature which could result in death.”

“The aim is to put a stop to what we consider to be an act of poisoning,” according to Joseph. “The interest of this action is that people in France now have a means by which to express their concern as citizens by saying publicly “We are aware that the vaccination campaign is a swindle.”

Similar court actions are planned in other areas of the Isére, as well as in Paris, Pau and Nantes, and several hundred vaccine opponents are beginning to organize themselves on the internet with a view to filing class action charges.

The government and health authorities are currently battling to persuade people to get vaccinated against increasingly difficult odds. Opposition to the campaign has been increasing steadily, and various polls taken over the last few days put the figure for those who do not intend to get vaccinated as high as 70 percent.

Their task is being made even more arduous by the fact that while authorities believe on the one hand that vaccination is essential despite negative public reaction, the French have traditionally proved to be very quick to condemn and file charges in cases where not enough was said to be done to prevent other medical mishaps such as the Mad Cow outbreak and an AIDS contamination case, in which several people died and many more became HIV positive after receiving AIDS-contaminated blood transfusions in hospitals.

That signifies that the authorities have very little room to maneuver and are more or less obliged to continue the campaign in order to avoid similar charges should they decide or be forced to abandon the campaign and high numbers of people die as a result of not being vaccinated. Original article

Canada approves Arepanrix "swine flu" jab with adjuvants

OTTAWA - Minister of Health Leona Aglukkaq today announced that Health Canada has approved AREPANRIX, a vaccine against the pandemic H1N1 flu virus.

This means that the adjuvanted vaccine has been judged safe and effective for use in Canada by both the Canadian manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline, as well as by the Health Canada regulator.

"This is a milestone in our efforts to fight the pandemic H1N1 flu virus," said Minister Aglukkaq. "Thanks to careful planning we now have a safe and effective vaccine being distributed to provinces and territories that they will be rolling out in a matter of days. I encourage all Canadians to get vaccinated because it is the best way to protect our health and the health of our loved ones."

Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada are currently working with provincial and territorial governments to deliver the H1N1 flu vaccine to health care facility sites to begin immunization programs.

"Canada is in the enviable position to be able to offer vaccine to every citizen who needs and wants it," said Canada's Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. David Butler-Jones. "Getting the vaccine is the most effective way we know of to curb the spread of the pandemic H1N1 flu virus. I too encourage all Canadians to get the pandemic H1N1 flu vaccine when it becomes available in their provinces and territories."

The Chief Public Health Officer also noted that the Public Health Agency of Canada, Health Canada and the regulatory and public health agencies of other countries, are working together to ensure that appropriate control measures are in place to monitor the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine and to ensure the timely communication of any potential adverse events following immunization. There is also a global commitment amongst regulatory authorities to rapidly share clinical and safety data on H1N1 flu vaccines and on any potential adverse events following immunization.

National recommendations on the use of H1N1 flu vaccine have been developed based on the latest scientific evidence, including clinical trial results. The recommendations include:

All Canadians 10 years of age and older should receive one dose of adjuvanted vaccine;
Children from six months and up to 10 years of age should receive the adjuvanted vaccine in two half-doses, administered at least 21 days apart;
Children age 0-6 months – immunization not authorized; and
Pregnant women should receive one dose of the unadjuvanted vaccine, of which Canada has ordered 1.8 million doses. In cases where the unadjuvanted vaccine is unavailable and pandemic H1N1 flu rates are high or increasing in the community, women more than 20 weeks pregnant should be offered one dose of the adjuvanted vaccine.

The Government of Canada has ordered 1.8 million doses of unadjuvanted vaccine for pregnant women which will be available in early November.

A large number of those who have been chosen as primary recipients of the H1N1 vaccine are declining the injection, apparently because many Danes have the impression that swine flu is not as dangerous as first suggested.

Some 360,000 police officers, nurses, doctors and others deemed to be in key functions have been offered the vaccine but under a third have applied.

"After planning and and carrying out 12 seasons of mass vaccinations against influenza, I would think that at the moment only about 30 percent of those in key functions are prepared to take the vaccine," says Danske Lægers Vaccinations Service (DLVS, Danish Doctors Vaccination Service) Chairman Karsten Østergaard.

The DLVS is Denmark?s largest vaccination agency, which is in constant contact wioth national and local authorities in connection with the vaccination of key personnel, and based on reporting from these authorities the service says only few want the vaccine.

A majority of police officers that Police Federation Head of Secretariat Hans Bundesen has been in contact with say they do not want the vaccine.

The Doctors? Associaition and the Danish Nursing Council have advised their members to be vaccinated, but are unsure how many members will actually have the injection.

Østergaard says that reticence is the result of National Board of Health and Health Minister Jakob Axel Nielsen?s statements that the H1N1 virus is not as dangerous as first thought.

"The National Board of Health?s evaluation is that the population in Denmark need not generally be worried about infection (with H1N1)," the Board says prominently on its webpage.

The National Board of Health says that a total of some 1.1 million Danes will be offered the H1N1 vaccine.

Massachusetts House of Representatives passed H1N1 bill

As feared Massachusetts House of Representatives passed H1N1 bill. House of Representatives to take the state closer to giving the governor nearly unlimited power to declare states of emergency and public health emergencies.

By a better than 3-1 margin, House Resolution 4271 has sailed through the House with little opposition. The bill is a rewrite of the more controversial Senate Bill 2028, on which WND has reported.

As stated in SB 2028, upon declaration by the governor that an emergency exists that is considered detrimental to public health or upon declaration of a state of emergency, a local public health authority, with approval of the commissioner, could exercise the following authorities (emphasis added) :

* to require the owner or occupier of premises to permit entry into and investigation of the premises;

* to close, direct, and compel the evacuation of, or to decontaminate or cause to be decontaminated any building or facility, and to allow the reopening of the building or facility when the danger has ended;

* to decontaminate or cause to be decontaminated, or to destroy any material;

* to restrict or prohibit assemblages of persons;

* to require a health care facility to provide services or the use of its facility, or to transfer the management and supervision of the health care facility to the department or to a local public health authority;

* to control ingress to and egress from any stricken or threatened public area, and the movement of persons and materials within the area;

* to adopt and enforce measures to provide for the safe disposal of infectious waste and human remains, provided that religious, cultural, family, and individual beliefs of the deceased person shall be followed to the extent possible when disposing of human remains, whenever that may be done without endangering the public health;

* to procure, take immediate possession from any source, store, or distribute any anti-toxins, serums, vaccines, immunizing agents, antibiotics, and other pharmaceutical agents or medical supplies located within the commonwealth as may be necessary to respond to the emergency;

* to require in-state health care providers to assist in the performance of vaccination, treatment, examination, or testing of any individual as a condition of licensure, authorization, or the ability to continue to function as a health care provider in the commonwealth;

* to waive the commonwealth's licensing requirements for health care professionals with a valid license from another state in the United States or whose professional training would otherwise qualify them for an appropriate professional license in the commonwealth;

* to allow for the dispensing of controlled substance by appropriate personnel consistent with federal statutes as necessary for the prevention or treatment of illness;

* to authorize the chief medical examiner to appoint and prescribe the duties of such emergency assistant medical examiners as may be required for the proper performance of the duties of office;

* to collect specimens and perform tests on any animal, living or deceased;

* to care for any emerging mental health or crisis counseling needs that individuals may exhibit, with the consent of the individuals

While HR 4271 removed much of the most contentious language from the Senate version, the bill still will allow the governor wide latitude to declare both states of emergency and public health emergencies.

Rep. Steve DiNitale said, "People were concerned about individual liberties, but many of the provisions for declaring emergencies have been around for decades. The bill tightens up the language."

He said, "It will not allow for officials to enter people's homes or allow for seizing property."

Republican Jeff Perry agreed.

"Some of the provisions in the Senate version were, frankly, unconstitutional. These were the issues of warrantless searches, the issues of prohibiting lawful assembly and the taking away of due process," he said.

"The bill was a huge concern and the redraft is a pretty good bill," Perry said.

But Susan Allen of Citizens for Government Accountability says the bill still doesn't put limits on how an emergency is defined.

"What are the parameters on a health care emergency? What are the requirements for an individual to be quarantined?" she asked. "If we don’t get the definitions, it can be arbitrarily defined by any official."

Don McGonigle of the Liberty Preservation Association agreed.

"We're concerned about the open-ended lack of liability for health care personnel. We're concerned about rights violations and no accountability for any deaths or injuries," he said.

Allen said the basic problem is that the bill still violates constitutional protections.

"The bill proposes to bypass the requirement of court orders or judicial warrants to conduct searches and seizures under a declared emergency," she said.

Rep. Jeffrey Sanchez disagreed, saying the plan is to clarify existing law and establish c chain of command for an emergency.

But he conceded the bill doesn't repeal Chapter 639 of a 1950 law which reads in Section Four, "The governor shall have general direction and control of the civil defense agency, and shall be responsible for carrying out the provisions of this act and may assume direct operational control over any or all parts of the civil defense functions within the commonwealth."

Section Five of the same law states, "Whenever the governor has proclaimed the existence of such a state of emergency, he may employ every agency and all members of every department and division of the government of the commonwealth to protect the lives and property of its citizens and to enforce the law."

Further, the law states, "After such proclamation has been made, the governor may, in the event of disaster or shortage making such action necessary for the protection of the public, take possession (1) of any land or building, machinery or equipment…"

The biggest concern comes in Section 10, the section that gives military and law enforcement personnel the right to enter private homes.

"Such members may at any time enter upon private property in compliance with the written order of the governor, for the sole purpose of enforcing the laws, rules, regulations, by-laws or ordinances specifically set forth by the governor in such orders," it states.

Section Nine of the House bill specifically reauthorizes the emergency provisions of Chapter 639.

The bill goes back to the Senate for reconsideration where it is expected to pass and be signed into law by Gov. Deval Patrick.

Brian Camenker is president of the public policy group Mass Resistance and he has urged Massachusetts residents to contact their lawmakers and oppose the bill.

"The bill is crazy. There is no way that bill should pass either house of the legislature," he said. "The worst part is that this is how the Massachusetts legislature always does business. There's no concern over whether this bill tramples on the people's liberties."
