its a long Labour day and Wesak day weekend.. brought my parents to Summer Mall for a change.. and treat them to Avengers 7.. not sure if they liked it though.. snacked at the food court after that

noticed at Sushi King the prices look rather odd due to GST but its simple to guess the calculations

tried Sing Garden near the car showrooms near Hui Sing

had noodles and nasi lemak as well at Old Town

Sunday night we went to Fork & Knife near One TJ for Mother's Day and belated Dad's birthday

big portions at reasonable prices, esp the mixed grill

to add to the special event, mum had a RM40 prawn noodles at a Foochow corner shop at Petanak area, on the next block from Old Time cafe

checked out this new cafe, Coffee Obsession at Jalan Keretapi

had the hot choc, flat white, desserts and the chicken chop with beef ham

during the evening we tried John's Pie and Alley at Jalan Song

had the beef and chicken pies with mushroom soup on a rainy evening..a soothing meal with my parents!

with this city being overpriced, its not easy to find a good decent deal.. at least Eve Garden is one of those places you can order a dish for RM5!

Short meeting in Sarikei

went over to Sarikei for a short work trip via Sibu.. stayed at 808 lodge.. nice simple and clean

had dinner with really really large prawns!

breakfast at Sarikei.. note the prices are cheaper here like Sibu (in Kuching everything multiply by 2).. and the cups show the Large and Small sizes, unlike kuching little cup with saucer.. and the dish on the right? that's Laksa! Wow! culture shock haha

nice shower.. but abit unfortunately water pressure is low at the time we were there

if you have a big party.. u can get this larger chalet with bbq set.. able to fit more than 10 ppl

Kuching famous wait-for-two-hours Noodle Descendent at Jalan Padungan.. the noodles and cheng soup are nice but if you are not willing to wait.. just head on to Sin Poh Poh 2 few shops away

Valentine's? very pricey and overrated.. love the roses though.. one to decorate the restaurant table.. one Given by the restaurant.. i guess that's why its priced double.. they give you a rose whether you are celebrating Vtines or not

there are other options if you want to be different from roses.. healthier.. and pricier version (maybe depends if you are a health freak.. or a typical chinese aka. foochow hahaha) .. i want the latter ANYTIME

nearing the CNY season.. time for yee sang and family dinners! always book monthssss in advance.. kuching people just love to eat out now for nearly any occasion

Meeting in Sri Aman

In early Feb we went for a few days meeting in Sri Aman, a town a few hours away from Kuching

stayed at Hotel Seri Simanggang.. walked nearby to a kopi tiam for char kueh

malam mesra that night in the hotel, and a mini reunion with 2 ex uni mates

meeting up with old and new pharmacists friends as well

went out for the famous char kueh in Sri Aman.. heard people come all the way from Kuching to try this!

also tried out kolo mee in a house kopi tiam at the housing area

Short trip to Universal Studios Singapore

once again I went MIA for a quarter of the year? most people would not be updating century-old stories, but being an OCD granny in me who needs to be sequential, i still need to get all these out

despite all that busy busyyy schedule, managed a quick trip to Universal Studios Sg

and take a few shots before heading home! sometimes schedule is so busy, had to manage a day trip (at a high cost) just to get away from it all.. for a few hours! better than nothing, i guess

Going for Course in KL

Just like any other profession, once the new year starts we need to refresh our CPD points and start again another year of collecting those 40points/ 7 days.. so I normally don't want to waste time and try to get most of those points as soon as I can, within the first half of the year if possible

so off i go to a A1 20pointer course in KL! yay, half requirement done by Jan! Kiasu!

stay in nicer hotel since its the beginning of the year for me.. the budget ones come later part of the year

although i took MAS, i also visit KLIA2 as its my new favourite airport now

and had lunch there (more varieties) ..penang laksa, korean noodles.. wantan mee. Had the toast in KLIA though. and suddenly.. my 4days 3nights trip comes to an end so soon!

the course was interesting, and dentistry is moving so so fast (doing crowns and bridges within a morning?? we take weeks in private practice.. and months in government) but are we ready for such advance fast treatment.. and a hefty cost (maybe a Myvi?) oh well.. learning is learning.. then its back to reality in the clinic..

I apologize for this post being over a month late!

spend the new year week at City One, revisiting Earthlings

grew to like this place due to the cozy environment.. thankfully the Christmas decos are still there

revisited the Cozy cafe at Jalan Song.. just had mushroom soup and garlic bread

chilling at Starbucks at Summers, the first time this year.. and the first time in a long time actually

watched the Dog Race at Hills Shopping Mall

late lunch at Puzzle, Pullman

tried the Groupon offer at Oishi Japanese Restaurant, Rock Road, for dinner

some is part of the offer..

and some we added on.. its kinda pricey still considering the portions

having one of my favourite dishes, hongan (thick rice noodle) cooked in foochow style, either sour soup style (zai chai ho gan) or the dry fried style! even bought my own ingredients to cook both versions at home

having pork ribs, lamb and chicken wings at Howdy's, Jalan Song.. don't forget to book during weekends

tried Fork & Knife, Jalan Setia Raja for the first time... not bad either

thanks for the reunion, gals! was a good night indeed chit chatting away.. too bad i had to work the next day

and as 2014 comes to an end..

went to Buntal for lunch on 31st with colleagues.. their reason? its the last day of the year! should enjoyyyy...

and also had McD breakfast with parents.. KFC treat from my boss.. and Sugarbun treat from another friend.. that's a first for me to have 3 Fastfood meals within the final 24hours of 2014!

finally its time to unwind back in Kuching again as the work travels slow down in December.. went to watch Big Hero 6 (nice cartoon!) and ate at Sakae Sushi

tried out this new Big Sister Dumpling Cafe at Ang Cheng Ho.. not used to the self service. the set with dumplings is more worth it

had a simple western dinner at Central Park

family plus office dinner.. with a set up of a wedding dinner! *sweat*

tried out this new place (new to us) near One TJ, had fish noodles at Yu Zhi Xiang and had prawn mee at the kopitiam next door

attended a wedding at a house

went to Pustaka Negeri Sarawak for a discussion.. nice but underused facility!

tried out the Family Cafe near ambank at Satok area.. the prawn noodles/ mee udang superb special here go up to RM88!

tried the 101 Taipei at BDC as well next to Expert Food Court.. nice pork chops!

Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort, Miri

after my interview in KL i had to fly straight to Miri and take a drive for nearly an hour to the Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort, Lambir in Miri. this was my room that night

strolled around the next morning

the general map of the resort, there are lots of activties provided here

many more resorts of such in Sarawak!

entrance fees comes with food, and fortunately as there's no other way to get food

very meaningful indeed!

the map outside.. too bad i did not have chance to explore the different outdoor activities and games.. perhaps they should do induction/orientation here next time for more team building activities! but alas.. i am not so much an outdoor person myself, although i do miss the flying fox!

To Learn, to Celebrate and to Interview in KL

was in Istana Hotel, KL for a weekend course

and the room cost me more than RM400 a night!

since the course coincided with my mum's birthday, i brought my parents along with me to KL

had buffet lunch at Jogoya Starhill.. there's offer RM69 plus plus on Fridays

so we feasted and feasted.. even Kuching's RM89plus plus can't beat this

and since I was at the course whole weekend, my parents were mostly relaxing in the room, or at this Spa

this is on a separate KL trip about 36 hours later.. stayed at Everly Putrajaya this time with a friend

it's good to meet up with my good old friends.. oddly enough on a weekday

and the next day, interview! *sweat* all the best!!!

Working Trip in Bintulu

for those who don't know, government air tickets on Air Asia allows you to check in and also gets priority with those priority seats and a meal set.. its this standard meal set

was in Bintulu early of November to organize a state level convention.. stayed at Park City Everly

ate at this 900 bistro cafe.. had the fish mee hoon which was not bad

and a group photo for working so hard for this for the past half a year, turned out as a success in the end.. lesson to learn: 5Ps, Communication and Team Work! 'nuff said.

Bestie's Wedding 2nd Round at West Msia

Hen's trip in KL, then 1st round ROM on the yacht in KK.. 2nd round wedding gate crash in Malacca then go fetch the bride to Bahau and dinner in Kuala Pilah.. seems that my best friend's wedding itself is a hopping trip

arrived at KLIA2.. ate at the cute travelling cafe Nanny Pavillion

drove to Melaka..took about 1.5 hours. stayed at Terra Nova Hotel

tried the Mille Crepe at Nadeje at Plaza Mahkota

my first time trying this multi layered crepe.. not too sweet and soft , especially the original flavour. yummy indeed! its not cheap but worth it, we need one shop like this back here!

went over to bestie's house for dinner and chilling that night

next morning at 6am we had to be at her house to start the gate crash! unfortunately we are very inexperienced in this and 'gave away' our bride rather cheaply

it was coming up to That time of the year again.. for me its the time of the year when my Facebook is hibernating with occasional posts and tags from others.. then suddenly it has over 100 messages on my wall, a gentle annual reminder that we are still friends.. lolz

and what did i do with my Free MBO Movie Tickets on Birthday month and claim free Starbucks? brought my dad a treat (although the movie ain't great). my dad even parked outside to avoid paying any parking .. who doesn't love a totally FOC outing with free parking, movie and drinks! too bad i forgot to claim the GSC ones..

ahh.. that time of the year when i totally ignore that its my final 2- on my age, but instead to look out for free stuff to redeem in! what else is there???

Going for Exams again in KL

Towards the end of the year i sat for the 2nd part of my external paper (for a hefty price of RM7k just for the paper!)

went to Sunway Pyramid for a change.. i've only ice skating once in my college days and i don't think i'll ice skate again after that.. >_<

had a meal at the Vietnamese restaurant there

stayed at Sunway Resort and Spa.. its so full that had to book the RM600/night suite! (don't ask why)

lovely room indeed with a separate area for the sink and another room for shower/tub and toilet

since already paid for it, may as well make full use of it

just at the connection between the hotels and the mall is this Pyramid cafe.. nice setting

had dinner at Fusion at the Sunway Resort Hotel, the same place as the hotel breakfast

had to tapao Burger King the night before my exams.. as a matter of fact i stayed 5D4N in KL to be undisturbed by work/part time/ etc.. (but the $$$$.. ouch) still wonder if that was the best studying strategy

and finally.. eating Burger King again at KLIA. once there's BK at Plaza Merdeka, i won't have to purposely find BK at KL again

thankfully the exams was over, and it was really difficult for me. just pray harder and hope all that money (already in 5 digits) is worth it after all!
