School Choice Window Postponed

After careful consideration, the second School Choice Window scheduled for April 3 - 13 has been postponed until further notice. We will keep you up-to-date when the next application period is scheduled to open. Updates will be posted here and on our website.

IMPORTANT: Update regarding school closures

The Florida Department of Education has just directed all school districts in Florida to keep schools closed through May 1st due to continued concerns related to the coronavirus.

In order to comply with that directive, the following facts will be in effect immediately:

All Hillsborough County Public Schools will be closed, including traditional and charter, through May 1;
ALL extracurricular activities will be cancelled during this timeframe;
We will continue online eLearning during this time. You can find our district’s eLearning Plan on our website, HillsboroughSchools.org/coronavirus;
We will continue providing our students nutritious meals, Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 147 sites. You can find those sites on our Grab and Go page, HillsboroughSchools.org/coronavirus/grabandgo.

eLearning Overview for Parents - March 22, 2020

Hillsborough County Schools is here to work with you. You need to know that learning will continue to take place online. Set Up for Success week is March 23-27, where our teachers and parents can get comfortable with eLearning, finalize lesson plans and get access to devices and computers. Classwork during Set Up for Success week will not be graded. Graded work and full eLearning will begin statewide on Monday, March 30. Read more

Storytime Online - Promoting the Love of Literacy

Continuing with her Storytime Online initiative to promote the love of literacy, School Board Member Dr. Stacy Hahn will be reading a story live every weekday at 11am on her Facebook page.

Storytime Online is a literacy initiative in which members of our community have gathered to read stories to our students. We have been gathering them over the past few months and believe now is the perfect time to begin pushing them out to our families.

Family Empowerment Scholarship

The Family Empowerment Scholarship (FES) Program was established to enhance Florida’s menu of educational choice options. It provides children whose families have limited financial resources with the opportunity to attend an eligible private school. Census

Hillsborough County Public Schools has teamed up with the U.S. Census Bureau to make sure EVERYONE is counted.

Based on data gathered by the census, $675 billion in U.S. govt. funds is distributed among states and communities. That money is crucial for our schools.

In a few weeks, you’ll be receiving a postcard in the mail. That postcard is your invitation to take the census. Once you receive that invitation, you can respond online, by phone or by email.

Parent Survey for Exceptional Student Education

The Florida Department of Education is working with school districts to gather information on how well parents think their child’s school is partnering with parents of students with disabilities. Your input is needed.

Your responses will help guide efforts to improve services and results for children and families. This survey is for parents of students with individual educational plans (IEP) receiving special education services during the 2019-2020 school year.

Feedback enables us to evaluate and prioritize our school climate-related needs and make improvements to ensure student success and employee satisfaction.
