OSHPD has released 2007 Preliminary Utilization Data for Long-Term Care Facilities.

Annual utilization data is released in two phases. The preliminary data file released in the spring contains data that has passed the prescribed set of fatal errors in the ALIRTS system and is therefore accepted into OSHPD. The second data file released in the fall will be the desk-audited data and is considered the final version of the annual utilization data file. Please note that this preliminary set of data is only live and downloadable on the web page up and to the point that the final version is released and then the preliminary data file will be replaced by the final data file.

Data Portal to Bring Greater Transparency to Healthcare System

Sacramento In keeping with Governor Schwarzeneggers efforts to enhance the quality of care through improved transparency in the healthcare system, the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) announces the availability of the California Healthcare Atlas, a web-based interactive tool that integrates OSHPD patient, financial, facility and geographic data into one easy to use application available to anyone with a web-browser. The Atlas can be accessed at http://www.oshpd.ca.gov/atlas

OSHPD has posted the 2007 Emergency Department (ED) Encounters by Facility.

This posting includes a listing, by hospital, of the number of ED encounters. Includes both ED encounters and admissions through the ED.

OSHPD has released 2007 Data for Emergency Department (ED) and Ambulatory Surgery (AS) Profile reports.

Included in the release are:

1) Ambulatory Surgery (AS) Top Ten Procedure Groups;
A statewide listing of the top ten principal procedure groups, based on Current Procedural Terminology, Fourth Edition (CPT-4). Includes both hospital based ambulatory surgery and freestanding ambulatory surgery centers.

2) Emergency Department (ED) Top Ten Cause of Injury;
A statewide listing of the top ten principal external cause of injury codes reported by Emergency Departments. This data is only from ED encounters that did not result in a hospital admission.

3) Emergency Department (ED) Top Ten Diagnoses and Diagnoses Groups.
A statewide listing of the top ten principal diagnosis codes reported by Emergency Departments. Also included is a statewide listing of the principal diagnoses groups (based on ICD-9-CM codebook chapters). This data is only from ED encounters that did not result in a hospital admission.
