We are so grateful for each and every sacrifice made by the service men and women of our country, and as we find ourselves entering into Memorial Day weekend, we s a church family think it key to honor these special individuals. We had a guest speaker, Pastor Robert Barriger, recently share an amazing message on a life of Honor, and we could think of no better message to share with those who have served in our military and taken up a calling of honor. So take this special message as a small gift from us at Healing Place Church to thank you and recognize you for all you do in living a life of honor and service. SOAP: Mar 2012

We want you to have a Spiritual Awakening in 2012. To help you encounter Christ in His Word, we have a simple process called S.O.A.P. that you can follow. A great way to get started in the SOAP process is to purchase a journal in the Missions Café and create a special journal where you record what God is doing in your life.

S for Scripture

Try starting your day with the reading of God’s Word. Before you do any tasks or routines, find a quiet place to read. Ask God to speak to you. Read the assigned Scripture. When you are done, look for a verse that particularly spoke to you, and write it out in your journal. What we write we remember more.

O for Observation

Observation is like a CSI at a crime scene, or Sherlock Holmes trying to solve a case. You are looking for clues, noticing, and asking questions such as who, what, why, when, where, how. A great tool for observing a passage is the acrostic S.P.A.C.E.
Ask these questions of the verse. S is there a sin to confess? P is there a promise to claim? A is there an action to avoid? C is there a command to obey? E is there an example of follow? For example, Romans 12:2 has commands to obey. Do not conform. Renew your mind.

A for Application

This is when you personalize what you’ve read. Write out what God wants you to know, understand, think or do as a result of your reading. An example of an application of Romans 12:2 would be to obey the command to renew your mind by committing to read God’s Word daily.

P for Prayer

This is like writing a love letter or talking to a friend. Writing helps keep our minds focused as well as can preserve our request so we can see how God answers our prayers.

PRAY

Prayer is an important part of missions. Through prayer we have the ability to reach the lost and hurting. Your prayers also make an impact on the lives and work of missionaries on the field. Missionaries, long and short term, depend on the daily prayers of people at home.

GIVE

There are many ways to give toward missions through your time, talent, and treasure. Your resources make a significant difference and provide the opportunity for others to GO, projects to be completed, and missionaries to be supported. Through your generosity many lives will be touched and changed.

Morning Payer and Fasting

Have you ever wondered, “Why do we fast?” Some people resist fasting because they don’t see the reason for fasting. Jesus fasted for spiritual strength to resist the temptations of Satan (Matthew 4:1-11). Jesus assumed that we would pray, give and fast according to Matthew 6:2,5,16. Great men and women of God, the heroes of our faith, such as Moses (Exodus 34:27-28), Esther (Esther 4-7), Daniel (Daniel 10), Paul (Acts 9:8-9) and many other fasted. According to Matthew 6:18 we will be rewarded when we fast.

We will be gathering in the Arena for corporate prayer January 11-13 and January 16-17. Join us from 6:00-7:00am for a time of corporate payer. Each day will we have a special prayer focus.

Awakening HOST Groups

1) DON’T MISS A SUNDAY

We have amazing worship experiences planned for you.

2) START THE NEW YEAR WITH PRAYER & FASTING

Jesus fasted and instructed us to fast in Matt. 6:16-18. We start each year with a time of fasting to express our dependence upon Him and our desire to hear from Him. We will join together for corporate prayer from 6 -7am in the Arena on January 11-13 and January 16 -17.

3) HOST AN AWAKENING GROUP STARTING ON JANUARY 29

Think three. All it takes is you and two friends to start a HOST group. Think about friends at work, in your neighborhood, that you sit next to in church, that you serve together with in church and invite them to join you for three weeks to dig deeper into Awakening truths. We’ll provide you with everything else you need to be successful. Pastor Dino will come to your house or workplace and teach your group. Not really but he has recorded three short small group videos that you can play on your computer or home DVD player. Come to a HOST briefing during a service and we’ll give you all the training you need HOST your friends.

Awakening Series

Delynn and I are so excited about all that God has in store for us in 2012. We believe that this year will be a year of Awakening. God wants us to be alert, alive, engaged, ready, and prepared to serve Him and be a healing place for a hurting world. Paul tells us, “So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” 1 Thessalonians 5:6

We want to provide you with as many resources as possible for you to have spiritual and personal awakening in 2012. First make sure you are here every Sunday for encounters with God in our series AWAKENING. Next, get together with a few friends and HOST an Awakening group. It’s easy. All it takes is you and two friends to start a group. I’ve put together a video curriculum to help you dig deeper into the Biblical truths of Awakening. Another tool that we want to give you to help you experience spiritual awakening is a Scripture reading plan called “S.O.A.P.” S.O.A.P is a reading and journaling plan which stands for Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. You can pick up a S.O.A.P. journal in the Mission Café and get a reading plan in one of our Awakening HOST groups.

Christ came so that you can have a full, satisfying and abundant life. Take advantage of all the resources we’ve provided for you to experience a spiritual awakening in 2012. We’re believing that this will be a year of Awakening!

Kingdom Builders

These are exciting days at Healing Place Church as we approach the end of an incredible year, and we expect even greater days in 2012! We believe as we enter 2012 surrendered to God and devoted to others, hearts will be unlocked to be loved, ears will be opened to hear the Gospel, Kingdom influence will be widened and the miraculous unleashed in people’s lives. We want to extend our reach even further to build God’s Kingdom world-wide. This is what being a Kingdom Builder is all about. The mission of Healing Place Church has always been to be a healing place for a hurting world, and Kingdom Builders give, above and beyond their tithe, to create environments where people’s lives can be changed.

Psalm 89:1 says, “I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.” Because of God’s faithfulness we are able to make a difference in the world and impact lives for eternity. Kingdom Builders see the goodness of God in their lives and believe in God’s future faithfulness in their lives and finances. They are a group of fully committed individuals and families who prayerfully make a yearly commitment to give over and above their tithe. Being a Kingdom Builder means more than just giving to a campaign with one project in mind; it’s a fully committed lifestyle of sacrificial giving. There is no specific amount required to give because EVERY amount is valuable and precious.

God is continuing to open doors in 2012 for us to partner with incredible ministries like Joyce Meyer Ministries to help minister to the cities of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Bangkok and Thailand. Check out this video our team put together that captures the heart of Kingdom Builders and the missions project we have the opportunity to partner with. We are expecting to see the miraculous take place, to see lives touched, changed and reborn into freedom and hope. But, we can not do this without you. Without YOU, there is no WE! Please consider how you can give toward this incredible project. Give out of the faithfulness of God in your own life, give believing the impossible and give expecting the miraculous!
