It seems that the HTC HD7 may have an issue relating to its camera. Several users are reporting that pictures taken with the HD7 have a pink tint to them on the default settings. This was a similar problem that existed with the HD2 when it first came out and was patched relatively quickly. Head over to GottaBeMobile for a number of pictures highlighting the problem.

Pocketnow has published the first review of T-Mobile’s HTC HD7. They liked the large 4.3-inch screen, the flip stand, the exciting new Windows 7 OS along with the free T-Mobile TV channels. Where it lost points were that the buttons were difficult to press and the lack of stereo speakers despite the illusion that it does sport them from the front grills. Other disappointments came from the OS itself, including lack of copy/paste, few apps and no DLNA streaming. You can check out the full review here.

The T-Mobile US version of the HTC HD7 is due to go on sale officially tomorrow. However, a number of people managed to get hold of the handset up to a week early through T-Mobile stores. We’ve come across a couple of unboxing videos that we’ve attached below. The first from GottaBeMobile who likes the hardware but found a few bugbears with the OS itself including the keyboard and lack of copy and paste. Pocketnow also got hands-on with a T-Mobile HTC HD7 which we’ve included after the cut.

Just a quick heads up for current/prospective owners of the HTC HD7, the manual has just popped online. Inside the handset box you only get a quick start guide, however that’s no good if you are looking for something in particular. The 78 page manual [PDF] can be downloaded from here.

The HTC HD7 may not be the most advanced mobile imaging device on the market, but it does offer something that most mobiles don’t have, continuous video autofocus. This means that the camera will re-focus the image even if moving from an object to something far away. Check out a video demo of this below.

Wondering where HTC has hidden the microSD memory card slot in the HD7? Well wonder no more as Arne Hess has tweeted a picture showing that it sits beside the sim card slot, beneath the part of the back cover that is not meant to be removed. It can be seen in the picture that his model has a 8GB card, but users over at xda-developers have reported sticking in larger capacity microSD card’s with no problems (a hard reset is required). The HTC HD7 from T-Mobile USA is now available for pre-order as low as $149. If you remember, T-Mobile have said that they expect to stock the handset for $199 from November 8th. However, Amazon and Wirefly have opened their pre-orders and for $169.99 and $149.99 respectively (with two-year contract). If you want a sim-free handset, you can pick it up for $529.99 at Wirefly.

There has been much speculation over microSD memory card access on Windows Phone 7 handsets. The Samsung Omnia 7 has an accessible slot underneath the battery cover that will allow users to expand storage. However, it won’t let you use it as removable storage given the limitations of WP7.

Unfortunately, the HTC HD7 does not have the same accessibility. Behind the battery cover only reveals a slot for the sim card only with no memory card accessibility to be found. This is somewhat disappointing if you only buy a HTC HD7 with 8GB storage. It is less of a deal breaker for those who have handsets with 16GB storage. We were lucky enough to get our own HTC HD7 over the last couple of days and have shot an unboxing video for those wanting to get a glimpse of what’s inside the box. The phone was bought on O2 PAYG for £380 in the UK, which is great value considering this is the 16GB version and not the 8GB being sold in other regions across Europe.

You won’t find too many surprises of what’s in the box, there’s the usual accessories such as USB cable, mains adaptor, instructions/warranty information and the handset itself. Initial impressions are that it looks gorgeous (enhanced by the thin bezel), it’s slightly heavier than expected but not uncomfortably so and the chrome buttons give the whole phone a premium feel.
