HTC One Series To Use Android 4.0 Quad Core CPU
Mobile phone manufacturer High Tech Computer Corporation or HTC made a lot of buzz during the recent Mobile World Congress when they introduced their very first Android 4.0 powered smartphones namely the HTC One V, One S, and One X.
Like all other HTC mobile phones, each are packed with similar features such as Beats Audio Integration, Watch, and 25 GB of online storage through DropBox. Aside from that, the new phones will come with Dual Shutter Camera Module with Video Pic, giving you the option to record HD video while taking pictures at the same time. Here is a glimpse of the different individual features of HTC’s One Series.

HTC One V

The HTC One V is the company’s newest entry level handset which will run on Google Android 4.0. It will come with a 3.7-inch qHD screen, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, and a 5 megapixel camera with a 720 pixel video recording. Rumor has it that the HTC One V is likely to have its worldwide launch by April of this year. Although this has not yet been confirmed by any US telecom providers. As the HTC One V comes with low-end specs, it will most likely be offered for free with two-year contracts in the European market.

HTC One S
The HTC One S is the Taiwanese telecom company’s thinnest phone ever. It will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm S4 processor, 1 GB worth of RAM, and an 8 megapixel camera allowing simultaneous capturing of video and images. While the HTC One S will be rolled out to different service providers worldwide, it is likely that T-Mobile will be the lone provider of the One S in the US market. It will come with Beats Audio integration!

HTC One X

The HTC One X is the first ever phone model that will run on the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor. However, a second version will run on the Qualcomm S4 dual processor with LTE integration exclusively for AT & T subscribers in the United States.
These are the latest HTC smartphones that will hit the market soon.

If you're HTC Wildfire S is looking boring, or you want a fresh look on your HTC Wildfire S, then look no further. I'm going to show you how to customize the look of your HTC Wildfire S using skins from the HTC Hub.

Firstly, load up the apps list and select HTC Hub. Then, once you've logged in/created an account, click the Skins option. Here it will show you a list of skins from the HTC Hub. Pick a skin, then click download. It will then begin to download and proceed to install. Once installed, go to your home screen and click the paint pallete icon on the dock at the bottom of your screen. Then, select skins and choose the one you downloaded. That's it! Awesome new look for your HTC Wildfire S, right?

Siri, I have to admit is a great feature on the iPhone 4S. It can recognize virtually any sentence and Apple boasts about it a lot. However, there are many great alternatives to Siri on Android. Plus, it works with HTC Wildfire S, Rezound, Inspire, Thunderbolt and Google Nexus!

Rumors are being spread around about Android 5.0 Jellybean being released in the 2nd Quarter of 2012, or to be precise: April to June. Hopefully Android 5.0 Jellybean will bring some impressive new features, and be available on older handsets such as the HTC Wildfire S, or the Samsung Galaxy Ace. If google can tackle the problem of updgrading slower handsets - a lot more people would be happier.

However, there is a free alternative I would like to talk about: KiK messenger to get BBM on your Android, iPod or iPhone.

Kik messenger is the closest you are going to get to BBM. It is a free and powerful instant text messaging service capable of matching features Blackberry Messenger would to an Android, iPhone or iPod device.

Kik messenger is free and works on Blackberry, iPhone, Android, iPod, Windows Phone and Ovi. This means that you can chat to anyone who has a Blackberry, iPhone, Android, iPod, Windows Phone and Ovi. The GUI is very clean and simple. The chat screen looks very similar to BBM, and features an S, D, and R symbol to signal when your message is sending, delivered or read.

How to backup HTC Wildfire S

To avoid losing your valuable text messages, pictures, contacts, application data, game saves etc. you need to perform back ups. Back ups can sometimes become confusing and tedious. That's why I have created this tutorial - How to back up your HTC Wildfire S.

There are several methods to back up your HTC Wildfire S and some back up certain stuff and some don't:

1) Back up your settings, contacts, apps, calendar, and emails.
This is the simplest way to back up your phone. Simply go to Settings > Privacy and make sure Backup my settings is selected. Then go to Settings > Accounts and Sync > Gmail and select every option there is. Now when you restore your phone, or even move to another android phone - your settings, contacts, apps, calendar, and emails will all be there; as long as you use the same gmail account.

2) Back up Text Messages (SMS)
To back up your text messages, download this app entitled "SMS Backup & Restore" it lets you backup your text messages, view your backed up text messages, e-mail a text message backup to yourself and much more. Plus, it's free.

3) Photo Backup
To back up your photos, I recommend you drag and drop them to a hard drive or USB device, or use ASTRO File Manager.. To drag and drop them to a PC, simply start HTC Sync, then plug in your HTC Wildfire S and set it to "disk drive" mode. Copy the DCIM folder to a hard drive or other storage device that you will have access to if you ever need it. To email it to yourself. Simply view the photo on your phone, then click Menu > Share > Email.

If you want to update your phone, maybe to the latest 2.3.5 update but are having problems, or just don't know how - here is a simple guide to updating your HTC Wildfire S to 2.3.5. Please make sure you are connected to AC power before installing 2.3.5.

Method 1

1) Go to settings.
2) Scroll to the bottom to "About Phone"
3) Click Software Updates
4) At the bottom of the screen, click "Check Now"
5) Follow the install instructions
6) Tada! :D

If you do not receive an update notification, try this method:

1) Go to this forum.
2) Read the whole first post, and follow the instructions.
3) Tada! :D

40 Hour HTC Wildfire S Battery!

The stock HTC Wildfire S Battery life is quite low, at 11 hours on heavy usage. Luckily, there's a solution to that - for just £10. I present to you, the Cameron Sino Tech 2200 mAh HTC Wildfire S Battery!

The Cameron Sino battery has reported "50.52% more capacity than the HTC Stock battery" and 40 hours battery life, by XDA Developers member d33ps1x. It comes at it's advertised capacity of 2200 mAh, unlike other batteries such as the eCell gold battery, which has a smaller capacity than the Cameron Sino.

However, since the battery holds a lot of power, wouldn't it have to be larger than the stock battery? The answer is yes. Unfortunately, you have to increase the size of yours Wildfire S by using a case that comes with the battery. Although this may put you off, the case and battery is a tight but perfect fit and does not cover up the phone's camera or flashlight. d33ps1x reports increased bass given by the phones speaker, as the case acts like a" passive subwoofer cavity." Another downside is that there is an overall loss of volume. However, a slightly bigger but quieter phone is a good enough sacrifice for the extra battery life.

The HTC Wildfire S has recently gotten the Android 2.3.5 update, posing a brand new lockscreen with customizable icons and performance improvements, which is great as low end smartphones need as much speed as possible. If you are a HTC Wildfire S user, you should be getting the update soon. People on Three UK have gotten the update, such as myself - and many others on the XDA Developers HTC Wildfire S forum.

Unfortunately, the Android 2.3.5 update does not come with Sense 3.0 UI, it stays with the 2.1 UI. And for the original Wildfire users, it looks like you will be staying with Froyo 2.2 for the moment. I will be posting a video up soon showing you the Android 2.3.5 features, stay tuned for that. :D

How to find out Android CID, Serial, MID, OMEID of your SD Card

The other day I was trying to find out some SD Card information on my HTC Wildfire S, such as the CID, MID and so on. I searched around and couldn't find anything useful except long scripts and coding. Luckily, I found a cool little Android Application called SD Tools. It did what I wanted in a matter of seconds, apposed to the time taken to do coding.

SD Tools is a free android application that lets you view your CID, MID, OEMID and many more features such as benchmarking, name, date and storage space. Using the serial number, MID, OEMID you can check if that new SD Card you got off the market is fake. If your SD was fake, it could lose your files, so SD Tools is great for telling if you were ripped off.

You can also benchmark the read and write speeds on your SD Card, so if you had multiple SD Cards you could use the fastest one for transfering movies, the second fastest for music, the slowest for photos and so on.

Overall, SD Tools is a great app you should consider using if you want information and benchmarking on your SD Card.

Android Developers: Help us root the HTC Wildfire S!

HTC promised that they would unlock all 2011 HTC devices, but as 2011 comes to an end; it certainly has not happened for us HTC Wildfire S users. The HTC Wildfire S still remains S-ON phones and our internal memory is so low (probably due to stock apps) that we're gonna go crazy!

A user over at XDA-Developers, "*se-nsei." recently posted a thread calling out Android developers to gain freedom for our unrooted Wildfire S'. This thread has been supported by the XDA-Developers blog, and many other users, even some who do not own the device.

That's why we need you're support to find great and giving developers to help us find a free solution to gain S-OFF/Root on our devices, perhaps as a christmas present for us! Many of us cannot afford/do not want to invest our money on an XTC Clip to gain S-OFF, when it can easily be done for free.

If you live in Melbourne Australia, and happen to be an Android fanatic - you're in luck. With help from Google, Samsung, HTC, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and LG; the 20 Million strong Android community have got their first retail Android store, based inside a Telstra flagship store.

In store you'll find awesome phone accessories, gadgets, smartphones and tablets - to flight simulators powered by Google Earth and massive screens to play your all-time favorite Android games, all inside beautiful android-like environments.

Androidland have also trained their staff to become Android experts, and hopefully draw in more Android users who visit the eye-catching store. Plus, the Android OS can seem quite confusing with smartphone manufacturers modifying the OS, such as HTC and Samsung.

“I don’t think anyone expects major revenue from the retail channel, but it is becoming a necessity,” stated Gartner mobile analyst Phillip Redman in an interview. “With the number of phones, tablets and netbooks running Android, as well as the partner support, it makes sense.” As Android is a open source OS, you wouldn't expect the direct sale revenue to be very high, anyway.

Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 won’t be available just yet, and there is no indication of other stores opening up elsewhere. Personally, I believe that these stores will rival with the popular Apple stores, as they will challenge them with their fun little flight simulators and massive screens.
