DJ AM Found Dead in New York.

The beloved mix master is heavily featured in the upcoming video game DJ Hero. DJ AM created 80+ exclusive mixes for the game and took the prototype for a spin. What did he mix? He told the L.A. Times:

“The first mix I played was Eminem and AC/DC, and it completely fit.”

He seemed pretty stoked about the versatility of the game, comparing it to his own style of mixing:

“No genre is sacred in this game, which is the bravest, most exciting, fun thing about it. That’s how I’ve always treated my deejaying. I will play anything. I go from the Jackson 5 to the Wu-Tang Clan to George Michael, and I make it work. … The major point is that you’re marrying two songs you wouldn’t think of—and it works.”

And make it work he would. The due was SI-I-I-I-ICK on the wheels of steel:

MINISTRY’S THE LAST DUBBER AVAILABLE SEPT. 15

Remix album of final Ministry release (The Last Sucker) coming

from Al Jourgensen’s 13th Planet Records

Aug. 4, 2009 (El Paso, Texas) – Ministry, arguably the most influential industrial band to date, punctuated the close of their 30 year recording career with 2007’s The Last Sucker. Now comes the remix album, The Last Dubber, an appropriately beguiling album that dabbles in both trance and metal.

The Last Sucker was greeted with a chorus of glowing reviews including Pitchfork proclaiming it “Ministry’s most exciting record since Psalm 69,” and Spin said Jourgensen “can still pile on the jackhammer beats and clever samples.” Following the album’s release Jourgensen and company embarked on the C U LaTour, which wrapped around the globe with sold out shows at each stop and is documented in the recently released Adios… Puta Madres DVD/CD.

The Last Dubber track listing is:

1. Let’s Go (La Fin Du Monde Mix)

2. Watch Yourself (The Clocks Strike Thirteen Mix)

3. Life is Good (Neuroplasticity Mix)

4. The Dick Song (Straight Outta Lincoln Mix)

5. The Last Sucker (Icke Mix)

6. No Glory (Sandpaper Condom Mix)

7. Death & Destruction (A Vote of Non-Confidence Mix)

8. Die In A Crash (Point of Impact Mix)

9. End Of Days Part 1 (One Less Sparrow Mix)

10. End Of Days Part 2 (Extreme Mayan Makeover Mix)

11. Let’s Go (Dawn of Oblivion Mix)

12. The Last Sucker (Hardware Revamp Mix)

All tracks remixed by Clayton Workbeck of RevCo with the exception of “Let’s Go (Dawn of Oblivion Mix)” by John Bechdel (Killing Joke, Ministry, False Icons) and “The Last Sucker (Hardware Revamp Mix)” by DJ Hardware….

The Last Dubber is the fourth in a series of remix records from Jourgensen’s 13th Planet Records. The previous albums being: Prong’s Power of Damn MiXXXer, RevCo’s Cocktail MiXXX, Ministry’s Rio Grande Dubya and RevCo’s Sex-O MiXXX-O (which is set for a Sept. 29 release).

Ninjaman tests his "Permit to Bury and License to Kill" by turning himself in to Kingston authorities who claim he gunned down a local man last Monday.

Ninjaman may have changed his “gun pon teeth Don Gorgon” ways, but yesterday Desmond Ballentine was charged with murder + conspiracy in Kingston for a gun slaying that took place on Marl Road on Monday (March 16th). Assistant Police Commissioner and Head of the Major Investigations Task force, Les Green, thinks the police have a “good” case against Ballentine, according to the Jamaica Observer.

Police (CCN) interrogated Ballentine, then charged him with the murder of Ricardo Johnson aka “Ricky Trouper” (not Trooper the soundclash deejay), plus conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm. Members of the MITask Force are still looking for the 2 other men Ballentine allegedly conspired with.

In 1999, Ballentine was charged with unlawful firearm possession and spent a year in jail.

Ninjaman is notorious for gun-related dancehall and soundclash tunes like “Murda Dem” and “My Weapon” but in the last few years he’s presented himself as The Preacher. According to his my$pace bio:

In 1997, Ninjaman re-invented himself as a born-again Christian under the name Brother Desmond, and enjoyed a brief stint as a Gospel Dancehall performer, before returning to his ragga Dancehall roots.

Dressed in white from head to toe, he told fans that he had put down the guns in order to promote peace under the One Umbrella Movement. BIG words coming from one of the most lethal sound killers Jamaica has ever produced! Ninjaman’s words once had the power to shut down competing soundsystems with tunes like:

“Permit to bury and a license to kill” (Permit To Bury)
“Nobody Buss Gun Like Me”

And lines like these from “Bad Man”:

What ya think all my guns are for?
.45 in control just to explode on a bwoy soul
Times changing, things rearranging, more guns bussing
More man dying from back in the days of pure mass murdering….

Of course, being the baddest of the bad man inna dance doesn’t mean a deejay carries the violence out into the streets. Ninjaman can kill a sound with ease (and mad mad mad mad style), but only as long as Desmond Ballentine stays outta trouble!

As a MAJOR fan of Ninjaman, I’m hoping he’s innocent. But, if he winds up in The Tower, I’ll probably ask the lovely and talented DJ Ripley if she can hook us up with an interview or visiting pass. She’s inna di area now, “conducting dissertation research into Jamaican creative musical practice as it applies (or doesn’t apply) to copyright law” as 1 friend succinctly described it… This gal rules on so many levels, yuh dun know! I think she worked with the prison directly last year, or hopes to this year. I’ll ask her for more info, but in the meantime, read more here:
