St Luis Rey Maduro Cigars

St. Luis Rey Maduro cigars are remarkably flavorful, solidly made and legendary for value. These firmly packed sticks have a dark Nicaraguan-grown San Andres Marron wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and a filler blend from Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru.

The result is a cigar with a dark chocolate forefront and earthy, toasty flavors underneath. STL Maduros produce a lot of dense smoke, and the price won’t empty your wallet.

St Luis Rey Natural Cigars

St. Luis Rey Naturals have been a quiet mainstay in the premium cigar world with their medium-full body and solid earthy flavors with notes of cocoa and mild coffee.

These sticks are very firm to the touch, but the draw is smooth, and the burn is generally even and produces a good amount of smoke.

Nicaragua provides the wrapper, binder and some of the filler (the rest is Honduran and Peruvian), and you get a lot of flavor for a fair price.

St Luis Rey Serie G Maduro Cigars

St. Luis Rey Serie G Maduro is an amazingly rich, full-bodied cigar without being overly tangy. In fact, the super-dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over a Broadleaf binder with Nicaraguan filler gives a very creamy smoke with a lot of espresso and bittersweet chocolate flavor and toasty, woody undertones. These sticks are solid as a rock, but have an easy draw. They definitely look and taste like much more expensive cigars.

St. Luis Rey Serie G Natural cigars are chunky beasts with a filler core of Nicaraguan tobacco under a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper and broadleaf binder.

These large ring gauge smokes have a creamy earthiness and a backbone of woody flavors with occasional hints of bittersweet chocolate and coffee. They’re firm (almost hard, really) but the draw is nice and easy.

If you like a big stick that is flavorful without being too spicy, Saint Luis Rey Serie G is a great bet.

International Pipe Smoking Day 2012

February 20th : On this day we will take a breather and celebrate the noble art of pipe-smoking and the noble spirit which pervades the brother/sisterhood of the briar. We will put into practice the time-honored and ancestral traditions of raising our pipes in toast to each other in the evening in unison and, thus, share a bowl together.

The History:

Not long after Jaime Partagas sailed from Spain to Cuba, he founded the cigar brand that bears his name. The year was 1845. Yet the greatest chapters of Partagas history were written by two other men, Ramón Cifuentes and the son who was named after him. Whether working together or alone, it was those two great cigar masters who made Partagas the leading Cuban cigar. But in 196l, two years after Fidel Castro had seized control of the Cuban government, Ramón Cifuentes was forced to flee the island, never to return. Seventeen years later, he was finally able to begin creating his Partagas cigars again, this time in the Dominican Republic, where his unmatched tradition of cigar making remains alive and well.

The Cigar:

The secret of today’s rich Partagas cigars lies in their wrapper leaves. Grown in Cameroon, the Central West African country where the steaming, sub-tropical climate unique to the fourth parallel is ideal for growing superb wrapper leaves, Cameroon wrappers have no equals for rich flavor. Indeed, Ramón Cifuentes determined that he could begin producing his Partagas cigars again only after he had discovered, years after the Cuban embargo had begun, that the best wrapper leaves were being grown in Cameroon rather than in Cuba.

So rich yet never harsh, a Partagas cigar has all the flavor and character of the cigar that knew Cuba when.

The VSG is blended exclusively for Ashton by Carlos Fuente Jr. using 4 to 5 year old aged Dominican tobacco taken from the finest and most fertile plants. The distinct flavor of VSG comes from its wrapper grown on a private estate in Ecuador owned by the Oliva family where this proprietary wrapper leaf is grown for the Fuente Family exclusively for Ashton VSG.
