Thanks a million for your help with this site. The trick when updating the thumbdrive drivers is to change the xbreader.inf 's permissions to ALL under the properties (after right-clicking) after making the changes mentioned. Make sure you do that then when you browse for the driver and select it it WILL WORK.

When I plugged it in (Vista system) the thumb drive (that had been sucessfully formated and recognized - trial and error when it comes to picking the thumb drive) Action Replay would not recognize the thumb plugged into the USB. What I did was find the device in Device Manager (it's a USB Mass Storage Device under the header Universal Serial Bus Controllers - hard to find but you can find it by trial and error - keep unplugging and plugging back in the device to find it in Device MGR. I had two in addition to the AR device.) Do the driver upgrade to the USB device you found to be the Thumb Drive (as described in the instructions above). Again make sure the INI permissions has been changed to ALL in properties and Vista will let you upgrade it! otherwise, Vista will fight you and not let you upgrade the driver. You know you're about to upgrade the driver when you get a warning about upgrading to an unsigned driver. You're sure. Update the driver. Now open AR software and it's working, right?

BTW: This also worked with my Action Replay device that previously I could not with Vista. Find the numbers for it through USBVIEW.EXE as you would with a thumbdrive! Update the driver the exact same way!

parameters entered with "Phrase or word subject to dictionary attack" = 0
gives a result of :
"Your password is 9 characters long and has 118,813,760,000 combinations.
It takes 0.43 hours or 0.02 days to crack your password"
the same parameters entered with "Phrase or word subject to dictionary attack" = 1
gives an increased result of :
"Your password is 10 characters long and has 594,068,800,000 combinations.
It takes 2.16 hours or 0.09 days to crack your password" THE CRACK SHOULD INCREASE WITH DICTIONARY WORD. no?
ALSO
don't these results omit the factor of these parameters being unknown at the outset?
and are only accurate if the p/w parameters are known?
