Enjoy a family night out this Friday, March 2nd beginning at 6:00 pm in the Hadley Elementary School Cafe! The movie HORTON HEARS A WHO (Rated G) will be shown. Be sure to bring a blanket and snack (there will be no concessions sold.)

Adult supervision is required for admission. *This is not a drop off event.*

Cost: $10 per family

4th Annual Hadley PAC Awards to be held May 15, 2012

Do you know a teacher, aide, staff person, or anyone who works with your special needs child that deserves some recognition? The Hadley PAC will hold it's 4th annual PAC awards to honor two teachers/staff on May 15, 2012. If you want to nominate a teacher or staff for this award, in the district or out of district that works with your child, please look for a nomination form in the office or click here to get an electronic version.

The PAC is a Parent Advisory Council that advises the Special Education Department in the district. The state of Massachusetts has mandated that each school district have a council of this type. The primary function of the PAC is to provide direct parent feedback and commentary to the school committee. The secondary function of the PAC is to become a parent resource for information, support and referrals.

A reminder, all PAC meetings are open to any parents, teachers and staff. Contact Denise Devine for more information at (413) 584-1859.

HES School Council Meeting - Thursday, February 2 @ 3:30 at HES

The HES School Council will meet Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 3:30 pm in the HES Library.

February 2nd agenda: School Council survey results, FY13 Budget update, Grade 2 classroom environment, school-wide writing curriculum.

Future meeting dates are: April 12th and May 31st, all meetings begin at 3:30 pm.

The HES School Council is made up of parents, teachers, community members and the principal. The 2011-12 School Council members are: Jan Barrett, Teacher; Marilyn Brayne, Teacher; Jennifer Lapis, Parent; Jenna Motyka, Parent; Colleen Snyder, Teacher; Jeff Udall, Principal; and Charlene Vinton, Parent. The council meets every other month (upcoming meeting dates noted above.) The meetings are open to parents/guardians who wish to attend. The Council supports school improvement and the academic needs of the HES students, the annual budget process, school and student safety issues, and addresses building maintenance and grounds needs.

No doubt you've seen the Hopkins Academy Band in the past year - perhaps in concert, marching in one of our local parades, or at The Big E? The band needs your support to represent not only Hopkins Academy, but the entire Hadley community as it travels to Disney World in Orlando, Florida to perform and compete this March. This is a trip many of the Hopkins students have been looking forward to since their elementary school days!

There are many ways you can help, but here are two not to miss:

Support the band and enjoy discounts at many local businesses.
