I’ve been collecting vintage and antique chocolate and candy molds for many years. I used my extensive collection for making handmade Papier mache figures. My work and collection has been featured in many publications over the years including Better Homes and Gardens and Wendy Mullen’s Comprehensive Guide to Chocolate Molds. I find myself now devoting all of my time to my first love of painting and illustrating. So many years of creating and designing has filled my studio and home to the brim. So it’s time to let go of some of my treasures. Please keep watching. I hope to offer more molds in the coming weeks. DESCRIPTION : Hinged 2 PC – Antique Metal Chocolate Ice Cream Mold HISSING HALLOWEEN BLACK CAT. I think it is pewter or cast aluminum. This is such a delightful old Halloween mold. Like most ice cream molds, it doesn’t look like much on the outside. You have to open it to see the treasure inside. Most ice cream molds have super detail. This one doesn’t disappoint. You can see every whisker and hair. This is a classic arched back, fluffed tail, scaredy cat. Even though he is a little out of sorts, he still has a very cute look about him when the figure is casted. * Soup not for sale. If you want to display your mold, I find most ice cram molds can be displayed open if you find a plate/picture easel that it will fit on. I ship once a week, see my shipping details. CONDITION : I would consider this mold to be in good to fair used condition. I think this mold has quite a bit of age to it and shows signs of wear. There are a few nicks and some of the outside edges are a little worn down, but that is to be expected. It doesn’t show up well in my pictures, but there is a small imperfection on the inside of the mold on the tail ( only on one side of the mold ). At first I thought it was damage, because it looks like a nick out of the metal, but on closer examination, I really think it probably was done when casting the mold. It never bothered me when creating my cat figures. Both inside and outside have a nice soft gray patina. There are a couple of spots of discoloration. I haven’t cleaned this mold for a long time, so some it may disappear when washed. It lines up okay when closed and has no cracks. SIZE : Approx. 3 ” x 4 ” tall MAKERS MARK : Couldn’t find any marks, but they may have worn off due to it’s age If you have any further questions, please be sure to ask before you bid.
