Yesterday was the first time I've seen Forrest Gump. I know it's already an old movie but I never got around to finish it. I may have partially watched it at some point of my life when I was young but never really seen it. It got me thinking, if I watched this movie before I got to watch it at this point of my life, will the effect be different? Will I be able to appreciate it the way I did. I wouldn't know.

I loved how the story started with a feather and ended up with the same flying, off to the next story that it would witness. And the feather didn't even had any idea of the great adventure it had been hearing. Just like how Forrest was witnessing all these great events in history without paying attention, without knowing the importance of it all. That's life, I guess. But why would you bother yourself with all the things going around you when you have your own life to live?

Sometimes I think we occupy ourselves with too much external events that don't even concern us just so we could claim that we are involved. But what's so bad with being indifferent sometimes, huh? Oftentimes, it is more important o focus on things that are within reach because if we take these things for granted then we may not be ready when they are taken away from us.

Well, "That's all I have to say about that." "I'm pretty tired... I think I'll go home now."

That's all I have to say about that.

Director: Robert Zemeckis; Writer: Eric Roth based on novel by Winston Groom; Actor/s: Tom Hanks

Released: 1994; Saw: 2010

At first, it seemed like your usual commedy having Will Ferrell (Harold Crick) as the main hero. But then as the film progressed, I realized how beautiful this story was written. How the mundane became an adventure.

Just like how we take our everyday lives for granted, Harold, also swallowed his life unchewed. He attacked life as typical as how he solved math problems - void of emotion. He spent his days counting every single steps he made, calculating possible angles not realizing that all these are irrelevant compared to the amount of time lost when he could have simply lived.

On the other hand, the narrator also had her hands full. She goes about her everyday consuming her life just to create stories of how other characters' lives will end. Only to be enveloped by guilt when the character she was plotting on killing materialized before her.

So how will the story end? Like how all are supposed to end. Watch this film and see how your own life unfold before your eyes.

c/o: http://www.atomicmovies.com/movie-Stranger-Than-Fiction.html

Director: Marc Forster; Writer: Zach Helm ; Actor/s: Will Ferrell, Dustin Hoffman & Emma Thompson
Released: 2006; Saw: 2008

We saw this movie in Fiesta World Mall at the time when it was the only decent movie house in town. Needless to expound, the movie was great. In fact, my sister saw this movie a number of times that I lost count. Saw this movie with JP Espi in Glorietta for our Genders class. It was a touching story about a man who revolutionized the way society measure, view, and treat sexuality and gender. Highly recommended.
The character was way beyond his time which created conflict in his life - worldly, emotionally, and academically.
