I have been feeling misplaced for quite some time. I kept wanting to come here and write. The urge was there. I just couldn't figure out what was off. Then it finally hit me... I have outgrown this blog, this place. I have blogged here for almost eight years. I don't want to delete anything or shut it down. I could redirect things or call it something else, but I've decided to leave Handbags + Handguns as is.

So I have a new home on the interweb. I hope you'll follow along as I figure things out. There will be a little more of this and a little less of that. But most of what you know and love will remain the same.

I have made so many friends here. I am forever grateful for what this little blog has done for me. Thank you all so much. xx

I love this red dress.
The cut and draping are superb.
The only thing that ruins the look is her makeup.
Why so drab?

PRIYANKA CHOPRA in Jason Wu
Red really seemed to be the color of the night.
This dress is so pretty, and it looked even better on tv.

JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS in Carolina Herrera
I love this!
It stands out without being over-the-top.
Classic.

CONSTANCE WU in J Mendel
This dress being different really pays off.
I love the colors, the belt and the jewelry.

KRISTEN BELL in Zuhair Murad Couture
I don't normally love giant dresses with flowers.
This is gorgeous and looks so good on her.

For the first time in years, I didn't watch the Emmys. I've just been so busy with work, events, kids, sports, concerts and other fun things. I used my free time this weekend to clean, catch up on laundry and listen to music. But I'm still here to recap the fashion for you because I've missed it. SO. MUCH.

This looked really beautiful on tv.
Even though the color is close to her skin tone, it works.
The fit is fab too.

Part of me doesn't like it, but most of me does.

I got an email this week that my domain was set to expire. I had to decide if I really wanted to spend the money to keep Handbags + Handguns going when I haven't blogged in over three months. I've been struggling on a weekly basis, to post or not to post. I want to. I really do. I just don't have the time or patience for it. I feel like the blog world has gone a little crazy with stats, sponsored posts and lessons in how to blog properly. I am not trying to make a living here. I have a day job that pays the bills and provides my family with benefits. If this blog makes me a little extra income, great. If it doesn't, that's fine too. I'm here to share, to vent and to have fun. Maybe I'll blog once a week. Maybe I'll blog once a month. Who knows what the future holds here, but I do miss this place. So I renewed.

I think this is the perfect Oscar party dress. Even though it's short, it's still appropriate.
She pulls off all-white very well. I just wish her makeup popped a little more.

SOFIA VERGARA
It's a beautiful dress. I love the color and fabric.
The diamonds are a nice touch too.

AUBREY PLAZA
The dress is somewhat casual, but I like it on Aubrey.
The colors are working very nicely for her.

NINA DOBREV
She looks like a pretty princess.
I'm not sure if I like the belt though.

Suzanne is 69. Although she looks great for her age, the dress is ridiculous.

Courtney's dress isn't bad. I think I would like it more if it went to the floor.
Kate has a great rack. I'm just not a huge fan of boobs being on display like this.

If you've been reading my blog for any length of time, you should know that I hate unlined dresses. I just don't understand the trend. If you want to show off your legs and girly bits, wear a short dress. Why ruin a beautiful gown by leaving out an important layer?

I liked more of the dresses from the after-parties than I did from the actual awards ceremony.

Let's have a look.

DIANE KRUGER | SARA SAMPAIO
Both of these dresses could have been stunning if they were lined.
I especially love Sara's dress.

MICHELLE MONAGHAN | EMILY RATAJKOWSKI
Michelle's dress says granny panties.
Emily's dress screams weird lingerie.

DEMI LOVATO | PETRA NEMCOVA
Once again, both of these would be great if they were lined.

LILY COLLINS | KATE HUDSON
I don't like either of these.

FREIDA PINTO | MIRANDA KERR
I'm not feeling these either.

PAULA PATTON | GABRIELLE UNION
I think the cutout on Paula's is too big.
Gabrielle's would be better without the slits.

I feel like the style of Jennifer's isn't doing her any favors.
Olivia's dress might be ok without the cutouts. At least her boobs might fit then...

Let's start with my pick for best dressed couple. First off, Tom Hardy is so hot it hurts. I hate Charlotte Riley a little bit, but only because she has him and I don't. #LuckyBitch She looks amazing in this black gown by Gauri & Nainika. Her hair and red lips are perfect. And how suave does Tom look in his 3-piece tux? Rawr. ♥

I'm not a Sarah Silverman fan at all. I don't think she's funny. I never like what she wears. No one's more surprised than me that she made the cut. I just can't help it. I'm a sucker for a pretty black dress, and this one from Zac Posen is stunning. Her makeup looks great. I love her sleek hair and simple jewelry. I don't think it hurts that she looks incredibly happy with Michael Sheen.

For the second year in a row, Margot Robbie finds herself on my Oscars best dressed list. I bet she's pumped. And just like last year, I made the initial decision based on how she looked from the waist up. I actually had to search Twitter to see the entire dress. This gold Tom Ford gown fits her perfectly. Her simple hair and makeup let the dress shine. She looks absolutely flawless. #GirlCrushx10

Last but not least, we have Jennifer Garner. Jennifer tends to stick to the same colors and silhouettes. This Atelier Versace gown, although not too far from her norm, packs a punch. She looks fab in black. I love the contrasting materials. I love the diamonds. I love her hair and makeup. And the Rene Caovilla heels? Fierce. Eat your heart out, Ben Affleck.

For whatever reason, they didn't make the final cut.

I get pickier every year.

She almost nailed this.
Her hair and makeup look great.
She pulls off pants and the color white.
If only her boobs didn't look so terrible...

This gown looked gorgeous on tv.
It misses the mark because it's sheer.
It's also a little bridal.

I never like her hair and makeup.
She always ends up looking like a goth bride.
The dress suits her and is very pretty.
I think I'd like it more if it didn't have the slit.

CATE BLANCHETT
I hated this when I first saw it.
It's a beautiful color on her.
The silhouette is nice.
But she looks like a bird.

SAOIRSE RONAN
I wanted to love this.
She looks good in green.
I like her hair and makeup.
Why is only one of her earrings green?
And I just can't get past the whole reptile vibe.

Let's get this party started. Last night's Academy Awards were the best I've seen in a long time. Chris Rock absolutely killed it as host. I laughed the entire time. Jennifer Lawrence didn't fall down. I got to see a gorgeous Tom Hardy in the audience a few times. Leo finally won an Oscar. And to top it off, I was extremely pleased with the fashion. I only have a few favorites, but there were a lot of dresses I really really liked. Good job, Hollywood. Here we go...

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTAs) were held on Valentine's Day at the Royal Opera House in London. There were actually quite a few dresses that I liked. Maybe this means we're on the upswing before the Oscars this Sunday...

On anyone else, I would hate this.
For some strange reason, it works for her.

I don't typically like what Cate wears.
But this is McQueen. ♥
She could have skipped the jewelry though.

This is weird and different.
And I like it!

Dakota looks ravishing in red.
I'm not sure about her hair, but the dress is fab.

My Trip to Vegas + Britney Spears Piece of Me

The end of 2015 was extremely busy for me. I wrapped up my first season as a cheerleading coach and sponsor. Between cheer, my full-time day job, two kids in sports, and the holidays, I didn't have time to blog. Now that a new year has rolled around, I want to focus on planning and scheduling blog posts again. I miss this blog. I miss all of you.

So, I'm going to start with a few things that happened in 2015 that I never got around to sharing. If you follow along on social media, you know I went to Vegas in November. I met Christina from Easily Entertained and spent three days and nights exploring. It was my first time in Sin City, and I loved every minute of it!

On Friday night, we walked around taking pictures.
The Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas was dark due to the attacks that had just occurred.
We went to the David Copperfield show at MGM Grand.
I was very excited because seeing him was on my Bucket List.
I know it's all about trickery and illusions, but I was super impressed.
I mean, he made a giant dinosaur appear out of nowhere!

We watched the fountains at the Bellagio.
We explored the inside of many casinos, but the Bellagio was my favorite.
The inside is so beautiful.
I loved the colorful fall decorations.

Christina and I are not foodies.
We weren't too particular with our restaurant choices.
We wanted good, affordable food and tried to avoid chains.

Neither of us were in Vegas to gamble.
We wanted to spend our money on shows and entertainment.
We couldn't pass up this Friends slot machine though.
It was worth the $10 I lost to see clips of my favorite show.

We toured the Neon Museum.
They collect, preserve, study, and showcase iconic Las Vegas signs.
We had a great tour guide, and I really loved learning about old Vegas.

We also toured The Mob Museum.
This was probably my favorite.
The tour was both informative and fun.
Not to mention bloody!

The main reason for our trip was to see Britney Spears.
I've been a fan for many years, but had never actually seen her in concert.
To say I was excited would be a huge understatement.

They had several of her iconic music video costumes on display.

The show was everything I hoped it would be and more.
Britney had a lot of energy and danced her butt off.
The stage, sets and costumers were amazing.
I was one happy fan.

We visited Shark Reef Aquarium and Sea Monsters Revealed at Mandalay Bay. We also saw The Beatles LOVE Cirque du Soleil show at The Mirage. Even if you aren't a huge Beatles fan, this show is amazing. I was blown away by the music, performers, sets, and vibrant colors. I had so much fun and can't wait to go back. Maybe Jennifer Lopez in 2017?

2016 Golden Globes Fashion Best Dressed

LILY JAMES in MARCHESA
I've seen this dress described as white, iridescent, semi-sheer, and rainbow pastel.
Whichever adjectives you use, it's simply stunning.
Her simple hair and makeup let the dress speak for itself.

SAIORSE RONAN in YVES SAINT LAURENT
This white dress with a caped train is very Greek goddess.
It's simple, but it works.
Once again, less is more.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE in DIOR HAUTE COUTURE + CHOPARD DIAMONDS
I didn't like this dress when I saw her red carpet interview.
It took seeing it a second and third time before I fell in love with it.
JLaw always slays in red.
The small cutouts give the dress a touch of sex appeal.
And the diamonds just set the whole thing off.

JENNIFER LOPEZ in GIAMBATTISTA VALLI HAUTE COUTURE
You either love it or hate it.
When JLo stepped onto the red carpet, I knew she'd topped my list.
She is fierce and owns whatever she wears.
The marigold color works for her.
I love her hair, makeup and accessories.
I also love that she continues to surprise us.

JLD is becoming one of my favorites on the red carpet.
I love the fit of this dress.
I also love the navy accessories with black.
Simple and classic, but also fun!

SOFIA BUSH
Sofia slays basic black.
Love. Love. Love.

EMILIA CLARKE
She was initially on my Best Dressed list.
I went back and forth.
The dress is different yet fantastic.
I think her hair and makeup ultimately ruined it for me.

JANE WU
I don't typically like this kind of dress.
It's a showstopping silver.
I just don't like the accessories.

KATE WINSLET
It's not the greatest dress, but it's Kate.
She is so beautiful to me. ♥

ROONEY MARA
This wouldn't work on anyone else.
The styling is just right for her.
Color. Hair. Makeup. No accessories.

ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELY
I don't know if it's the top half or the bottom half that's not working for me.
I feel like something's just not quite right.
She could rock a paper bag though.
Flawless.

KIRSTEN DUNST
This dress made a lot of Best Dressed lists.
For me, there's just a bit too much boobage for the red carpet.
Her hair and makeup are on point though.

JAIMIE ALEXANDER
She looks gorgeous.
I love the green.
I'm just not in love with the print.
