I found this sweet wooden doll crib at the thrift store and knew it would be a great imaginary play toy for my girls. When I brought it home, LittleA said it was missing bedding, so I let her go through my sewing supplies and pick out some fabrics she liked. I used foam to make the mattress and pillow and covered them both in fabric. I like how she picked all coordinating colours. Big News! My daughter A, has become a big sister, Alhumdulillah! In preparation for the big day we made a 'big sister' shirt for her to wear when the baby came home. She is smitten with little sister S, and she can't wait for her to become a not so sleepy newborn and play with her.

Today I made this Raglan Tee for my daughter while she was away at Tae Kwan Do class. I am waiting for her to come home so I can show it to her and have her try it on. I really hope she likes it! I will try and take some better pictures tomorrow of the tee when the sun is out inshaAllah. To make this tee I followed the tutorial on the 'Craftiness is not Optional' blog, here. We also bent the tops of our wands into different shapes like circle and heart. If you haven't already guessed from my blog, my daughter and I love to create! I find that kids create the best when they are given access to a variety of materials and the activity is left open ended. It is amazing what their little minds think up! In the past I use to have materials stored in shoe boxes but I found it cumbersome to always try and take a box out from the bottom of a pile

Loom Knitting

I recently purchased a knitting loom kit for my daughter, a great find from the thrift store! She has plans on making a baby hat for her new baby cousin. So far she is really enjoying the process. I remember doing something similar using a smaller spool version as a child and making a long chain that I coiled into a rug. Her looms come in different sizes perfect for making hats for the whole

Self watering plant

Today we made a clothespin catapult and my daughter is having a lot of fun catapulting pom poms around the house. We saw this idea on Almost Unschoolers, here. All you need is a hot glue gun, a clothespin, a plastic cap, a popsicle stick, a base (we used an old protractor kit container), and pom poms!

I made some story starter blocks for my daughter today using 1 inch
wooden blocks and some clip art. We had a lot of fun taking turns
