Coastal Wind Chime

I feel so honoured that my design could be the part of I Like Crochet Magazine April issue.
This coastal style wind chime is really easy and quick to make and uses just basic stitches. I designed seven sea creatures and hanged into a nice driftwood. To the end of each chains seashells was attached to keep them tight. Plus, they are tinkling.
I recommend cotton yarn for a durable project.

Little Gardener's Pinafore Dress

Since I became a mom, I turn my creative energy to creating for my daghter. In my limited crafty time I like making original garmets and toys for her. I believe by creating with our hands we pour energy into each item and bring more love to the relationship with the recipient.
I knitted a yellow pinafore dress back in May using an interesting textured stitch pattern paired with thick yarn. Than I wrote down the pattern in five sizes from 3 mo to 2 yo.

I recommend it for knitters at intermediate level, since the unique stitch pattern might be challenging for newbies. The pattern is tech edited and tested by wonderful Ravelry users.

For the samples I used cotton yarn because it was made in May, but it will nicely work with worsted weight wool yarn. The smallest size use up just four skeins, so it is really quick to make.

This pink one was made as a gift for my photographer cousin. This is 3mo size, but she uses for newborn photgraphy (of course not for tiny babies).

So, and I also have big news with this one. I became published designer in a webzine! It was published in October issue of Knotions. It is such a huge step for me, introducing myself somewhere out of my blog is totally out of my comfort zone. I am thankful for the editor, Jody that she liked the pattern. And I am happy that I had the courage to take action.

Pug Brooch {Free Pattern}

Who can resist to pugs? They are charming, super social, playful and loving dogs who follow their human everywhere and friendly with strangers too.

I wanted to come up with a pug-themed crochet or knitting pattern from a while, so now I designed this brooch for all pug-lovers out there. It is a simple amigurumi project using basic stitches, assembly might be the trickiest part of making it.

Materials and tools:

Garnstudio DROPS Alpaca: #302 Camel Beige, #506 Dark Grey (approx. 22 yrds [20 meters] from each)
US size 1 1/2 [2.5 mm] hook
2 safety eyes with 3/16” [0.5 cm] diameter
fiberfill
yarn needle
brooch base

Gauge / finished size: 2” (5 cm) diameter (not a gauge critical project)

Skill level: intermediate

Instructions

Mouth
Work in continous rounds.
Magic ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1 and make 6 sc in the ring. (6)
Rnd 2: *2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st; rep from * around. (12)
Rnd 3: *sc in first 3 sts, 2 sc in next 3 sts; rep from * around. (18)
Rnd 4: sc in ea sts around, join and cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. (18)

Ears
Magic ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1 and make 6 sc in the ring. (6)
Rnd 2: *sc in first st, 3 sc in next st; rep from * around. (12)
Rnd 3: *sc in first st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around, join and cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. (18)

Make 2 ears.

Head base
Work in continous rounds.
Magic ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1 and make 6 sc in the ring. (6)
Rnd 2: 2 sc ea st around. (12)
Rnd 3: *2 sc in first st, sc in next st; rep from * around. (18)
Rnd 4: *2 sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * around. (24)
Rnd 5: * 2 sc in first st, sc in next 3 sts; rep from * around. (30)
Rnds 6-11: sc in ea sts around. (30)
Rnd 12: *sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts; rep from * around. (24)
Rnd 13: *sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * around. (18)

Insert safety eyes in 2nd rnd with approx. 5 sts between them and stuff the base with fiberfill. Don’t stuff too tightly, the back of the brooch need to be flat.

Rnd 14: *sc2tog, sc in next st; rep from * around. (12)
Rnd 15: *sc2tog around, join and cut yarn, weave in ends. (6)

Sew the mouth onto the head under the eyes, stuff lightly if neccessary.
Embroider eyebrows into the inner corner of the eyes.
Sew on the ears starting 3 rnds above the eyebrows pointing towards the eyes.

Today we had a beautiful day, we could spend long hours in the garden. For me it was also a great opportunity to make a photo shoot of my baby wearing the brooch and playing with fall leaves.

For those who are new in my blog, I adore pugs. When we moved in our suburban home, the first thing was buy a pug puppy. Dragee was our best friend for two years and when I became a SAHM to my daughter our bond gained more strength. One month ago we lost her when the annual rabbies vaccination or the steroids she received for the adverse reactions killed her. Now, we welcomed Dragee II in our family. She is a cuddly pug puppy with lot of energy.
