A few days ago, my contract with my phone provider came up and so it was time to renew and upgrade my device. I had my fun with the iPhone, it was well worth a try but I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. For a while, I thought I was going to upgrade to the S3 but then they released the new Samsung Galaxy S4 and I was hooked like a magnet. The specs were above and beyond any current droid phone and being an avid previous droid fan and owner, I threw myself back and ordered a white S4.

Let me tell you, this phone is super gorgeous with a super AMO-led screen which is a better screen than even a ZuneHD which won gadget of the year a few years back due to its stunning and vibrant screen.

Of course, I went through and customized it with a black x galaxy colored Sailor Moon theme. It’s actually a complimentary theme to both my tablet and my computer which both host Ultimate Madoka themes which involve space and stars and what not. I love celestial bodies. I realize it’s a thing right now, but I’m a real geek about it. In the 7th grade I tried to do my science project on the hypothesis of the effects of close impact galaxies on solar systems like ours. My science teacher didn’t think it was a good idea though…. I won a pyshics award instead for something to do with sound waves. But I digress.

Using Handcent which I also have themed into Sailor Moon. I went so far as to try and mimic her signature colors for the chat bubbles too. The phone is slim and very light. Sometimes, it feels like it’s not even in my hand! I worry about sticking it in my pocket, but I already have a soft plush case for it.

In the end, while I liked my iPhone, I love the droid way better. I just won’t ever buy a Motorola droid ever again. They are quick to become outdated, and are quick to start doing wacky stuff like dropping calls, random restarts and stuff like that. Generally, just poorly made phones. The Samsung Galaxies are hardy little devices from what I have seen from other owners.

Merlin the Wise

Alright, here he is! The other new addition I mentioned in my last post. Merlin the Wise. He’s a 14 (?) year old mostly blind ragdoll with snowshoe markings and when you can catch him with his pupils un-dilated he actually has blue eyes. He has what is a genetic mutation called colobomas which doesn’t cause blindness itself, but it attributes to his vision problems; what really causes his blindness are cataracts he may have just developed over his life. They are correctable, but even so he would not see at 100% clarity.

He’s still adjusting to the house, the sounds the routines and Dodger. Dodger sometimes drives him up the wall and he hides in the bathroom as a result, but Merlin is becoming more and more social by the day. It’s slow coming along, but patience is a virtue!

His fur is as soft as it looks. If I thought Dodger was soft….Oh man. He’s like petting a cloud. There’s surprisingly not a lot of shed coming from him right now. I slicker brush him everyday to help keep his coat clean and free of tangles, but there’s not a lot of hair removal going on. Then again, it keeps going from hot/cold these days so maybe his body doesn’t know what to do??

He takes photos like a champ too. He likes to sit a lot and doesn’t particularly wander, but boy it’s like he can “see” the camera is pointing at him. At least, when he isn’t tired. Then he doesn’t bother. I’m working on getting him into some natural light so I can get his eyes to show better. They aren’t unattractive, and you almost can’t tell that he doesn’t really see you. For now, here is a photo his foster-mom took.

Itty bitty Spring Committee

Not much has been happening this week, we are all settled in from moving, and I was finally able to chop out the ugly bush that was in my backyard. I didn’t want it just to be a little dirt lot, so I went to Lowe’s looking for some start-ups that I didn’t have to germinate myself. While germinating on its own can be really fun, I didn’t really wanna do that this time around.

I bought some Foxglove, some ocean’s spray petunias, and the star of my little plot; my hydrangeas. When I went to Japan a few (more than a few…) years ago, these guys were literally everywhere. I found them in nearly every planter I walked by. They grew largely, and the bouquets of blossoms looked like candy-floss. If candy-floss grew on bushes, this would be it!

I am super pleased with the color arrangement I picked too. At first, I picked up a powder blue pot, but then I saw this group and the mixed colors appealed more to me since everyone knows mixed colors is more attractive in a garden. They’re just gorgeous.

Oh yeah, I forgot. My crazy cat-lady is showing. We adopted two new kitties. (One of whom is older, and will be arriving Monday. He is mostly blind so we are working slowly on his transition.)

Now, normally, petunias are not my favorite flower. Seriously, they’re pretty typical of a “traditional” garden and to me, are more of a filler piece than a main piece. When I saw the ocean-spray petunias with a royal purple coming out of their …what…Stamen?! POLLEN HOLES?! I was charmed out of my boots. I picked em up and so far, they seem like really sturdy little buggers.

My foxgloves had some really nice looking blooms on them, but this past week, they all fell off. I’m not sure if that’s just because I got them at the end of their bloom cycle or if I am over/under watering them. I’m hoping that this is just their cycle. It takes 2 years just to get the heads to bloom in the first place…so maybe?

These past two months have been exceedingly difficult. We’ve moved houses since the incident in November with my purse getting stolen and then returned. Way too much stuff has happened and I’m having a had time finding peace for myself. Even blogging had become something that I couldn’t bring myself to do. I can’t tell you how many draft posts I started and then deleted simply because every time I sat down, I ended up doing something else some how.

I did treat myself to a little something. It’s so pretty and I was so excited to get it in the mail.

Aaah, sweet jesus.

No headgear, but that’s alright. I can work something out. I really wanna get one of these cat hats to match it.

Course, I have been eyeing this hat for like 4 months now. I just can’t bring myself to buy it yet. Mostly because I think I look terrible in most hats.

Merry Making Pinafore

I bought the collared version of MMP some time ago, and realized I would never be small enough to fit it. It barely fit my mannequin on its smallest setting.

I decided at first to add a panel into the sides, but when I realized it took too much away from the skirt, I nixed the idea. After some more thinking, I ended up with a pinafore styled JSK. It works pretty good and I enjoy the alteration almost as much as the original cut.

Working on the alteration itself. How Richard got this photo is beyond me. He’s not even very good with the SLR.

Trying out a coord. I’m not entirely sure how I want to wear this still but this was a good feeler.

Getting an iFansland theme for jailbroken iPhones [tutorial]

For those of you who have jailbroken iphones, you have probably been seeing super cute themes running around on Tumblr with no idea how to get them or possibly even where.

This little tutorial shows you how to register for and download your first ifansland theme. Please already have your iphone jailbroken as I will not be explaining how to do this process.

I am not responsible if you do this incorrectly and damage or brick your phone. I have never had any problems with this, nor have I ever damaged my phone from using any of the themes I have used personally. You do this at your own risk.

(Sorry to anyone with Dial-up. There’s a few images here.)

To start, go to iFansland’s website. You’re going to need an account to download any of the themes here, so let’s register our account.

If you do not have an auto-translator, or Google Chrome (which also translates) then the top right-hand corner will look like this. Please click the circled area in your own web browser to get to the registration page.

Insert all your chose details such as your username (I picked happiimilk), your password and an email for all your notifications and such to go to. Now, I made a mistake and entered my email into the bottom box. Please do not enter anything here.

Instead, click the words in red as they are anti-bot codes that are auto-entered for you! Hit the submit button, and you will be ready to navigate for your theme!

Scroll down towards the bottom of your screen. When you see a potted plant, click the icon to go into the Themes Subforum. These are the iPhone themes and most work with iOS 5+.

Pick your theme! There are about 100 or so pages of themes, so browse them all. There are some real jewels hidden among the pages. I selected this Hello Kitty theme at random for the tutorial.

After you have picked your theme, click and go into the thread of the artist. They usually provide screenshots of how the theme looks when it is applied to your Winterboard.

Okay, so this is definitely the theme you want, it’s a full set theme. (some ARE incomplete and missing icons. Be aware of this and try to figure out who tends to have the most complete sets. The artists tend not to vary and so you can judge who has the best/provides the most) Scroll to nearly the bottom and check to see if your theme has a cost (1). If they do, you usually get money (Paradise Currency) by posting on theme threads with 15 or more words per post. You also get a daily log in bonus. If it costs, click the circled button (2) as pictured. If there is no cost, or you have paid for your theme, click the file name and depending on the artist, it may just contain a link to a Chinese version of hotfile where you can download your .zip file of your theme. Do not confuse this for not getting your theme!! DOUBLE CHECK.

Now that you have your theme downloaded, unzip it and rename the file so it’s not in Chinese and you can identify it on your phone.

Open your file manager program of your choice on your PC to start transferring your theme. I like iFunBox. It’s easy to use and easy to navigate.

Open your RAW SYSTEM FILES and enter the VARS folder. This accesses all the root folders of your iPhone where all your themes and such are stored for all your applications.

After you enter your VARS folder, click STASH. This is where all your modules are actually stored.

Click THEMES. This may have some numbers after the file as mine shows, but it just depends on your device. I’ve seen it without as well.

Transfer your renamed theme over to the folder and YOU ARE FINISHED! You have successfully added the theme to your device. After it has finished loading, open your WinterBoard application in your phone and find your theme. I named mine Leopard Girly because I picked a girly leopard theme. Select and respring your device. Your theme should be up and running!

Tip: If you are missing icons, move into the theme via your file manager and go into the Bundles folder. Find the icons affected (camera or whatever) and try messing with the icon names. If it says just icon.png, try changing it to Icon.png, Camera@2x.png or Camera@2x~iphone.png. Capitalization makes all the difference here. Some of the themes call for capital file names and some don’t. Any one of these combinations usually work in making the icons switch over. Be sure to respring your device after each name change to make sure the changes were applied to your device!!

Line Play

Some how or another, I found out about a little app that is catching some real buzz around the community. Line Play is a cute little avatar service that goes along side NAVER’s Line calling/text messaging application. It’s surprisingly popular and is a bit like skype mixed with facebook’s social networking aspect. Right now, there’s not a lot to do. However, the game is cute and you can decorate your room, avatar and meet new people from all over the world.

My room when I started. It’s really cutesy and cake-themed. I’m trying to mix it up a little more and organize it in a more comprehensive way.

Just stalking other people’s houses is fun too. Of course, cleaning, watering and doing little action items earns you in-game gems so you can purchase even more cute stuff.

Merry Making at its finest

This last week I ended up splurging on my self on accident. I was trying to lay down for a nap before a work meeting (that I ultimately forgot to go to… ) and some how ended up in Little Tokyo getting sushi for dinner. I dressed up and felt all the better because I caught two colds this month that really put me out of commission. It was all sniffles and really bad coughing that, unfortunately, I had to deal with at work. Thankfully, in the medical setting you get access to all kinds of facial respirators so I kept my germs to myself for the most part.

I pulled out my old GLW wig (the very first one I bought) and it really worked out for this outfit. I feel like maybe it was refreshing to work the old in with the new. After we got down there, we had sushi and walked around for a bit. In the end, I ended up walking into Fairytale Boutique and looking around for stuff to pine for. Some how I managed to walk away with a dream dress set. Well, almost the set. I need to find the socks and matching tote bag, but I got the matching headbow included. I’m debating on altering it or just waiting to see how this year turns out for me. (Yeah, well, I can still have hope that I will work harder this year…)

Woo hoo! I found the collared navy blue version of Merry Making Party. This dress is unshirred and therefore, a serious commitment. Either to making the best alteration of my life, or of actually completing a project I started for once. We’ll have to wait and see.

I bought the Tokimeki necklace to match the outfit since I don’t really own any brand jewelry. It was a nice addition to my wardrobe and is actually pretty cute to wear even casually. After all that, I still ended up in Kinokuniya looking for the achachumu cat bag mook. Miki at Fairytale Boutique had just sold the last one (she actually was walking out with it as I was walking in) to someone else before I got to get one. It’s ok though, I found mine for a bit cheaper so it was a mini-win.

Okay, this bag is easily my most favorite bag (next to my poor Juicy bag which is long gone now) . I love it so much and the postcard book that came with it is just adorable. I don’t think I’d ever be able to bring myself to use them up. I love the super sturdy box it came in too. As a box hoarder, I now have a super cute kitty box that I never have to throw away because I can totally use it to store crap in.

Last weekend ended up being slightly productive. My sister was spending some time up with her friend in San Fran so we got together with her roomies and had a double date at their favorite sushi place.

I was really pleased with how my makeup turned out, so I asked Richard to take some makeup shots. I think the only thing I could change is that I don’t think I did a good job highlighting and need to find something besides a matte powder to try and light up my face a teensy bit more.

Yay! I finally worked the super cute bunny-girl clip that Lemontee111 gave me, -in exchange for a ride- into an outfit! It works really well I think! More so on the lapels of a vest like this than in my hair. I’m hoping to work it into other outfits soon as well. The vest was bought on a whim. I saw it at Forever21 on a display and I thought, “If I leave without that, I am gonna shank someone.” In the end, I called Richard and he worked out for me to buy it. I’m really glad too because it has been a corner stone addition to my wardrobe and adds a very chic, modern twist to an otherwise classical theme.

Werkin’ the super cute bow boots that Richard got me for Christmas. I love them to death and they don’t hurt my feet other than getting the occasional hotspot. They match a couple of my coords so you’re going to be seeing these a lot more.

The sushi place was really good and well priced for what we got. One plate a piece was more than filling because the chefs were way more than generous in their servings and cuts of fish. I can’t wait to go back and try more things on the menu!

Even though I didn’t order this, I ended up stealing several pieces. It actually ended up being my favorite thing that night!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, everyone!

Since I didn’t get to do anything this time around, I’m just going to add some photos of presents I forgot to post in my last post. Some of them were late gifts due to shipping, but I’m grateful for them nonetheless!

Super Sonico has become more and more of an obsession for me. Richard bought me this Super Sonico dakimakura of a figure I own of her. It’s so cute and soft. I never thought I’d have a “waifu” pillow!

3D poster of Super Sonico. This was a really unexpected gift. I knew it was a poster, but the 3D effect on it is really cool and I can’t wait to put it up on my wall.

These boots were on the top of my wishlist for Christmas. They’re from LovelyShoes.net and I couldn’t be happier.

When I saw these boots while I was wishlisting, I nearly died. I’m so happy Richard bought them for me. They match most of my outfits and they were just too cute to pass up. They’re actually knee high boots, but I don’t have any boot trees to support the stockings so they’re all droopy.

Both pairs of shoes are surprisingly comfortable and I’m putting together pictures to do a review on them.

My iPad mini case finally came in the mail! Thank you, Crystal! It’s so incognito! Course, if you look closely, the spine says “book Book volume XIL” You can tell it’s a terrible give away that it’s not really a book at all. XIL isn’t even a number!

I am really loving the iPad mini too. It’s actually made me forget that I even have an iPhone from time to time. I use it for everything.

I used to think tablets were really unpractical but then holy crap, as soon as I got one, I realized just how practical they really are. Isn’t that funny how that works?

Welp, I’m off to take Connor for a walk, I’m taking the Couch to 5K challenge and hoping I can dedicate myself to actually finishing it! Good luck on all your resolutions and may 2013 bring you much joy and prosperity!
