Dual Timeline Novels are a genre that I have really gained interest in over the last couple of years. Jane's Secret by Jennifer E. Tirrell is the latest book in this genre that I have read.

WOW, this storyline was very intriguing from the very beginning. I began reading the story and could not put it down. The main characters are Jane Ingleton, from the 16th Century and Kaitlyn Tirrell, from the Present Day. Jane is a young woman living in England in the 16th Century. She is keeping a secret and wants it to be hidden forever. Jane has endured so much in her young life and family is part of the secret and a mystery key is found and she is curious to what the key is for. Kaitlyn finds a letter in the family attic that leads her back in time to Family Secrets and Mystery. Kaitlyn decides to go back to the "scene of the mystery" and travels to England to figure out more about the letter and mystery Key. I really saw so many similarities in Jane and Kaitlyn, especially how strong their faith is. Faith that helps them endure the struggles of life, the power of prayer that they both experience and the Faith and Scripture that they both believe. I also love that they are both determined to discover the Family Truths, even though someone was trying to deter them from getting to the truth. The Historical parts of the book made me feel like I was there in that time period. The book is about Faith, Family, Romance and bonds across the generations. GREAT BOOK!

That image captured my imagination. Jane’s Secret is a completely fictional story inspired by those moments. The historical record left only fragments, but sometimes fragments are enough to spark a story. From them grew a fast- paced suspense novel that weaves together history, faith, and the enduring power of prayer—and the possibility that blessings offered long ago may echo farther than we realize.

I was blown away by JT's life story and the focus of this book. JT has to overcome so many health issues, surgeries and more from the very beginning of life.

Challenges are going to happen in life and the "lift up" is to stay positive and take on those challenges to overcome them. JT has written "No Bad Days" to the Young Readers to give them encouragement and direction to stay positive in life. Most of all this book shows them to be a part of the solution in having NBD. Praying for others and having Authentic Friendships through life will help overcome the Challenges of Life. I really love that the book focuses on small choices can lead to BIG Changes and Overcoming things.

I was encouraged and challenged to keep the positive outlook while reading this book. I hope others who read this book would feel the same! GREAT BOOK!

Christian Historical Romance is a favorite Genre of mine. Gingham Mountain by Mary Connealy is Book 3 in the Petticoats and Cowboys series.

WOW, the storyline captivated my attention from the very beginning. The setting is in Sour Springs , Texas in the late 1800's. The main characters in the book are Hannah Cartwright and Grant Cooper. Grant was an orphan and he now has a heart for orphans and takes them in with plans to adopt them. Hannah grew up as an orphan and her experience was painful and she still has bitterness from her past. Hannah was passing through Sour Springs, TX and she meets Grant. Her first impressions of him as a Single Dad to a household of children, were very judgmental. She decides to stay in Sour Springs and becomes the School Teacher. Hannah and Grant really get to know each other and I really LOVE that Hannah begins to trust Grant and admire the work he is doing for the Orphans. The relationship grows between Hannah and Grant into something beautiful. The book is about God's plan is greater then our own, Faith and Family. I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Romance. WONDERFUL BOOK!

Gingham Mountain is the third book in this series. The first books I got published…though there were other things sprinkled in after Petticoat Ranch, the first in the series.

I think of Petticoat Ranch as my husband’s story. A mountain man who’d never been around women, finds himself married to a widow with four daughters.

Then Calico Canyon is my husband’s story growing up. He is one of seven sons. I tried to imagine how that would be.

Now comes Gingham Mountain and that’s my story. I grew up in a tiny farm house with eight brothers and sisters. We had two bedrooms until my sixth sibling was born. And two is a bit of an exaggeration because my folks slept on a couch in the living room that folded out into a bed. And the only ‘real’ bedroom was an upstairs, the kind that has sloped roofs and, well, it was just tiny.

Then my folks bought another tiny home and moved it to our home and stuck it on the end. Now our ‘two’ bedroom house had (drumroll!!!) three bedrooms. Mom and dad retired the living room couch. Huge family, tiny home, the thing was, everyone back then had a huge family. Hey, it was the baby boom, these things happened. No such thing as a kid having their own room. I remember being excited that I had my own DRAWER!

So, Gingham Mountain, all those kids in a house that really only had three bedrooms was completely believable to me. And it was hot inside and no room for nothin’ so we went outside to play all the time. And that’s how Grant’s kids had to function.

Grant with his little house and loneliness and the knowledge of how hard it was to be an orphan.

Hannah with her lioness heart for protecting children. And her utter poverty. Getting the job as school marm when she’d never been to school herself. With zero ‘womanly’ skills. The woman can’t cook or sew or do anything expected of a woman. But, because she had an abusive adoptive father who pressed her and a scad of sisters, into work at a carpet mill, she can thread a weaving look like lightning. Now she’d trying to save children from such a fate.

She and Grant are in perfect accord…if they just had a rational conversation. Instead, Hannah sees a man trying to make off with orphans, just like her abusive father. She sets out to save the children from Grant and chaos ensues.

Then set it in Texas and there’s trouble with oil, still a very underused natural resource and Grant doesn’t know he’s sitting on a gusher of wealth. But there are villains who know what he’s got and they want it.

Gingham Mountain, when I wrote it, was one of my favorite books ever. Helping those two find each other, well, I can’t even tell people about it without smiling. Grant and Hannah’s first kiss is one for the ages and, of course they are both horrified. And then they kiss again. What could be more fun?

Christian Contemporary Romance is a genre that I read very often. Not Precisely Mr. Knightly by Carolyn Miller is Book 2 in the Silver Teapot series.

I immediately started reading this book and it started off a bit slow for me. I finally grasped the storyline by Chapter 2. Emma-Jane (EJ) Bennett and Jordan Knight are the main characters in the story. EJ and Jordan have been best friends for a long time and they want to spread the joy to others. They created a dating app and the app is doing well. I wasn't a fan of EJ in the beginning of the storyline as she seemed to be letting success take her to "new heights" and forget where she came from. Jordan was a favorite character as he was looking at the success of the dating app and realizing that LOVE might have been sitting right before him all these years. Jordan began to want to take the friendship with EJ into a Romantic relationship, although he had to wait until EJ was no longer dating the "celebrity son" whom she met when she was hanging with a new social circle. Jordan wants to protect her from the "Celebrity Son" who really isn't as good as he seems. The storyline enfolds and the ending of the book was very sweet and eye opening for both EJ and Jordan. The book is based on the Jane Austen, Emma book. I recommend this book anyone who enjoys Christian Romance with an English flare. GOOD BOOK!

Do you know someone who has found love online?

I do. I have numbers of friends and even a family member who have found love and married thanks to dating apps and the like. This newer form of meeting people is something I’ve referenced in several of my books (including Only You Can Love Me), as several of my characters have used an app called Dream Match, a romance matchmaking app for Christian singles around the world. But when I first mentioned Dream Match years ago I didn’t realise at the time that I’d end up writing a story about how the inventor of Dream Match would finally meet her match.

And it seemed perfect to me that Jane Austen’s Emma Woodhouse, known for her matchmaking skills, should be reflected in a modern day context as being the ultimate matchmaker, EJ Bennett, who is responsible for helping hundreds of people find love online. Even if she doesn’t think she needs or wants love for herself.

Playing with Jane Austen’s characters and putting them in a modern setting is a lot of fun. So not only does Emma Woodhouse become EJ Bennett, but George Knightley becomes EJ’s best friend and app co-designer Jordan Knight, the straight shooter she needs. And Frank Churchill, the man Emma starts to fall for, becomes Eric Churchill, son of a TV mogul squillionaire.

The first book in The Silver Teapot series, Not Exactly Mr. Darcy, also played around with some of Austen’s settings, placing the story in a small town in Australia called Wattle Vale. I had fun further developing the Australian connections by setting other key scenes in iconic places like the Sydney Opera House and Bondi Beach, which naturally meant I had to visit for “research.”

So I hope readers enjoy this little taste of Australia, and all the fun references to Jane Austen’s Emma. Contemporary Romance is a great genre. Split Time is an interesting Genre. Sunflowers in Paris by Ashley Rescot combines both genres in one novel.

The storyline started a little slow, although by the second chapter I was very much into the book. The main characters in this book are Adrienne Pearson and Jean-David Béranger. Adrienne has always loved playing the Viola and would have made a career out of playing. She unfortunately has an injury that forces her to change her career plans. She decides to take a year to study Music History in France and a couple members of her family come along also. Jean-David, a French Journalist, meets Adrienne at the house they are staying at. The house is owned by his Godmother. He was a bit taken aback by the "American's staying at the Mansion". He quickly overcame his hesitation when he got to know Adrienne. I really LOVE that Jean-David and Adrienne begin to allow a romance to grow, especially after they discover a mystery among them. The pair work together to uncover some of the aspects of the mystery from long ago. The Historical aspects of this novel were very intriguing. Ashley Rescot is a new to me author, but I am interested in reading more books from this author. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Contemporary Romance! GREAT BOOK!

Christian Historical Romance is a genre that I enjoy reading. The Brunswick by Callie Murray is the latest book in this genre that I have read.

I will admit that it took me a couple of chapters to understand the storyline. The setting is 1939 in Norcross, Georgia. The main characters in the book are Cora Cain and Thomas Watkins. Cora is in charge of the town General Store, it used to be the Hotel, The Brunswick, that her family owned. World War II has begun in Germany and so many other happenings in the world. Thomas Watkins arrives in Georgia as he has moved here to be close to family. He approaches Cora looking for work. They both start working together and they feel a romantic connection between them. Thomas goes on a trip with a friend to Austria and is unfortunately captured by the Nazis. Cora and those back in Georgia are worried about his safety. In the meantime, Cora is asked if she could house some refugee children from Germany. I admire that she says yes and begins to set up the Brunswick Hotel to accept the Children and give them a safe place to be, away from the War areas of their Country. The story is heartwarming, yet heartbreaking. I LOVED the Historical part of the story and that although written in Fiction, the reality of the WWII times really touched my heart. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance Fiction and War time stories. GOOD BOOK!

Christian Suspense is a genre that I have come to enjoy the genre fully. Stolen Secrets: A Thriller by S.F. Baumgarter is Book 7 in the Mirror Estate series. The series has been one that I have been enjoying from the first book.

I was very excited to see another edition of this series. I dove right into reading the book and didn't stop reading until I finished the book. The main characters in the book are FBI Special Agent Charlie O’Rourke and his adopted daughter, Jamie Beth. The storyline focuses on Jamie Beth's vanishing and Jamie and Charlie working hard to locate her. Jamie gets really worried when the "kidnappers" call and tell Jamie they want her to surrender to them or her friend's life could be at risk. Agent Charlie knows time is of the essence to get Jamie's friend back and he is on the case. The shocking things is all the secrets he discovers along the way that are concerning for his adopted daughter, Jamie Beth. The book has so many twists and turns, I was on the edge of my seat reading. The book is very fast paced and I think that is what makes the storyline so exciting. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Suspense Novels. AMAZING BOOK!

Stolen Secrets is the seventh book in the Mirror Estate series, and for me it represents something I didn’t fully realize when I started writing it: the beginning of the end of the Ghost arc.

When I began the series, I never mapped out a long, eight-book storyline for the Ghost. In fact, I didn’t even think about how long that arc might last until around Book 6, Shadowed Secret. That’s when it started becoming clear that the threads surrounding the Ghost, Dylan, and the larger conspiracy needed more room to unfold. Book 8 will wrap up the Ghost storyline, though the Mirror Estate series itself is far from over. There are still many stories left to tell.

One of the continuing mysteries involves Dylan and the buried treasures connected to Mirror Estate. Whether that storyline concludes in Book 8 or continues beyond it is something I’m still discovering as the story evolves.

Stolen Secrets also includes a bonus story titled “Shadow Extraction.” Writing that novelette was one of the hardest parts of the project. It features Olivia in the middle of a black-ops mission that unfolds at the end of her honeymoon in Italy. The emotional and operational stakes in that story made it especially challenging to write, but it also became one of my favorite parts of the book.

Another element I enjoyed writing in Stolen Secrets involves Jamie Beth and Owen. Watching those two characters work their way through danger and figure out how to escape was incredibly rewarding as a writer. Those scenes capture something I love about thrillers—the moment when characters must rely on their own courage and quick thinking to survive.

Looking back, Stolen Secrets feels like a turning point for the series. Secrets are beginning to surface, alliances are shifting, and the long game surrounding the Ghost is finally moving toward its conclusion.

But even as that arc approaches its end, the world of Mirror Estate still holds plenty of secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Christian Contemporary Romance is a genre that I enjoy reading. Mesmerize by Darlene Corbett is the latest book that I have read.

I dove right into the book and the storyline grabbed my interest immediately. The main characters in this book are Delphina Tulasi, a therapist and storyteller and Alexander O’Hara, a CFO of his own. Delphina is not interested in a relationship, yet her mother is a matchmaker. Delphina attends an event with her mom and her mom has arranged for Alex to be there also. Delphina and Alex are matched together and they begin a relationship in Las Vegas and they take it back home to Boston. They seem secure in their new relationship, until Alex takes a trip to Dubai. The moment Delphina decides to allow a person from her past back into her life, she isn't secure with the relationship with Alex anymore. I really like that Delphina begins to understand that life isn't "greener on the other side" and ends the relationship with her Ex. She thought she has lost any chance with Alex, she puts up a strong fight to get him back. I thought the book was a story about Forgiveness, True Love, Determination and so much more. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance. GREAT BOOK!

Darlene Corbett has been serving others as a licensed psychotherapist for over thirty years.

With her wealth of experience in human behavior, she decided to write down her thoughts to inspire a larger audience. This set the stage for her book, Stop Depriving The World of You, published by Sound Wisdom in 2018.

She continued writing nonfiction until she heard God whisper again. And his call prompted her to take a risk and dip her toes into fiction. Visible, a women’s fiction about second chances, was published by WordCrafts Press in the spring of 2024, and in August, she won the 2024 Storytrade Book Awards for Christian Fiction in the Contemporary category.

And right now?

Her contemporary romance, Mesmerize, will be published in February of 2026 which has themes of a modern-day, Christian Scheherazade story.

Her writing continues with two romantic suspense novels. Enthralled, which takes place in Mykenos, has been completed but needs editing. A Midnight Call, located in a small fictional town in central Massachusetts, has almost reached the finishing line.

When not writing or seeing clients, Darlene immerses herself in a variety of novels and tries to support other authors of faith.

In addition, she loves animals with dogs being number one. Taking care of her beloved Shih Tzu, Stevie, puts a smile on her face.

Being a life-long learner, she’s attempting a second language and remains a nerd at heart. Staying fit, traveling, and connecting with her inner circle also take priority.

Darlene belongs to many organizations, including the ACFW, FHL-CW, and WFWA.

She lives in Central Massachusetts with Stevie, and remains excited about the next chapter of her life.

Although every novel involves a story, I decided to highlight a therapeutic storyteller.

Why therapeutic?

Because I’m a therapist and have listened to stories throughout my life. Also, I remember the story of Scheherazade, and with faith and modernity, I wove it into my novel. The protagonist spins tales to… Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out.

Devotionals are a daily part of my Christian Faith. Psalms from the Sea, Volume IV: OPERATIONS by David Reid Brown is the most recent Devotional that I have read through.

I really LOVE how the author compares a Navy sailor life to the Christian Faith and our daily walk with God. The Christian Walk is Hard, treacherous, up and down, filled with worry and so much more. The author is a former Navy Chaplin so he has written this devotional and gives real life experiences that Sailors experience and compares them to the Christian Walk. The Devotional contains 50 Devotionals that has a story from Sailor life and applies it to the Christian Walk. I really LOVE that each story also has Scripture, ways to apply to the story to our life, a prayer and a place to journal personal reflections of the Devotional of the day. This devotional could be used as a daily or weekly format. I was encouraged by many of the stories in this devotional. I would recommend this to anyone who needs encouragement through the WAVES of life. GREAT Devotional.

David Reid Brown is a retired Navy Chaplain and currently serves as a high school Government, Bible, and Art teacher at Grace Christian School in Mechanicsville, VA. He has authored nine books: Spirit Soundings: A Chaplain’s Journal of Life at Sea (three volumes), Lost Summer, and Psalms from The Sea (four volumes), and a book of poetry, Sophia’s Songs. These inspirational stories were born out of his global seafaring experiences, spanning twenty-one years of peace, war, and three overseas deployments as well as his service as a Christian educator.

Biblical Fiction is a genre that I am always intrigued by. Blaze of Honor by D.M. Griffin is the latest book in this genre that I have read.

WOW, the storyline captivated me from the beginning. The main characters in this book are Joram and Azuba. Joram has taken on many of the attributes and personality traits of his father, as he always wanted to please his father from a young age. Joram is now grown and realizes that his father's way may not be the best and he is now seeking to find his own place in the world and to please God. The one trait that Joram is wanting to change is the fact that he has seen his Dad be bitter towards women, due to family issues. Joram believes there is a woman that God intends for Joram. Azuba is someone who Joram has known from his Childhood and now a grown woman. Joram is now seeing Azuba as a woman and one that he feels that God can bring him to marry. I really LOVE the storyline and how Joram goes to being like his father in so many ways, to follow God's lead for him. The book is one that focuses on finding God's will for marriage, being humbled by following God and so much more. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Biblical Fiction. GREAT BOOK!

My inspiration for writing Blaze of Honor came from a simple lyric in a song. “Be careful, little eyes, what you see.” I had the idea of writing the Spirit Ignited Series rattling around in my head for five years. During my regular Bible reading plan, inspiration sucked me into the scene in Acts 2 when Peter preaches to a crowd on the day of Pentecost. I found myself wondering about the people described as coming from all over the empire. I wondered what had brought them there, and what they had heard. How could I not be fascinated when the church grew exponentially that day? So, the idea for Spirit Ignited grew. I wanted to write four novels about four men who had been in the crowd that day.

As excited as I was to begin writing those stories, other books crept into the queue before I fully developed the characters for Spirit Ignited. I was excited when the first ideas came back to me after five long years of waiting for these men to speak up and inspire me. What was even more challenging was that the stories were begging to be written in first-person from a single perspective. That was a daunting task since I had only written dual-perspective stories up until that point. And, truth be told, first-person isn’t my favorite.

But I obliged and found myself completely captivated by these men. Surprisingly enough, I did not write Blaze of Honor first. Though it is the first to be released in the series, it was the third book I wrote in the Spirit Ignited series.

After hearing the song lyric, I started to wonder about how parents, most specifically troubled marriages, affected children. Joram, a shy character, finally found his voice in my head, and together, we explored a life of unintended scars and how they shape a boy as he becomes a man.

The story’s themes of redemption, forgiveness, and grace underscore the main takeaway: honoring God through loving others. I yearn for readers to grasp this central truth, to feel the depth in the main character’s plight. The narrative delves into the heart of devotion, exploring how easily the concept of honoring God can become contorted in the labyrinth of the mind. After completing the first draft, the realization that this story, with its raw vulnerability, could only be told in the intimate voice of the first person hit me.

I truly hope readers will get as much out of it as I did when I wrote it. Stories that transform as well as entertain are my favorite kind of stories.

Christian Contemporary Fiction is a favorite genre of mine. The Deep End of Love by Christina Suzann Nelson is the latest book that I have read. Christina Suzann Nelson is a new to me author and I was excited to read this novel.

WOW, absolutely astounded by this book. The storyline is one that is VERY emotional and gave me Happy and Sad tears for many reasons. The story has 4 main characters: Izzy: A Pregnant High School girl, Jillian: Izzy's Mom, Margaret: the mom of Izzy's Boyfriend, Stacey: a married woman and has infertility issues. The 4 women each have their own story and their stories are connected and similar to one another in so many ways and factors.

I began reading the book and could not put it down because I felt connected to all 4 of the women, especially Izzy and Stacey stories immediately. I, similar to Izzy, found out I was Pregnant when I was a Senior in High School. I was scared, but I knew I was not alone. I had family and Christian friends who loved and supported me throughout the Pregnancy. Izzy's Mom reminds me of my Mom. My mom was 15 and Pregnant and by age 17 was married with 3 girls under 1. (Single birth at age 16 and 13 days before my older sisters first b-day, my mom gave birth to my twin sister and I.) Izzy's Mom has regrets for her decision as a young Pregnant woman and though my Mom didn't make the same decision she always felt she missed out on her teenage years and many other parts of life. Margaret, seems similar to Mom of my Baby's Father at the time. Although, she was very supportive of the decision I was making and she spoke with my Boyfriend from a Mom's prescriptive and that helped him understand. Stacey, ohhh my heart was breaking for her and all that she went through. Losing her adopted son and still yearning to adopt another child. I chose Adoption for my Baby Boy and I know the story of the Mom who adopted my Baby Boy, whose infertility issues led to the decision for her and her husband to adopt. God truly was in the midst of my decision and the Support of my Pastor's wife and her wise counsel and prayer, gave me the strength to make the decision.

I applaud the author for this very heart wrenching yet heart warming story that really shows that God is in the midst of all the aspects of Motherhood, including Teen Pregnancies and Infertility. The book is fictional yet it has topics that are real life situations. The journey to Motherhood is so different for everyone, yet can be connected in many ways. I really LOVE the fact that this story is written with a Christian Perspective. Have your Tissue ready when reading this book, you will definitely need it. I will definitely be reading more of Christina Suzann Nelson's book. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Contemporary Fiction and want to read a book that shows the journey of Motherhood for the different characters in this book! WONDERFUL BOOK!

Christian Historical Romance is a favorite genre of mine. A Wealth Beyond Riches by Vickie McDonough is Book 6 in the Windswept Wedding Series. I have been anxiously awaiting this book release.

WOW, the storyline of this book was very emotional from the beginning, in a good way. The main characters are Sasha Di Carlo and Jim Conners. Sasha has spent many years with a yearning to discover her family roots. She has felt disconnected from her mom as her mom is a busy actress. She is now ready to set out to find her Uncle who she learns lives in Indian Territory with the Creek Heritage. Jim Conners works for Dewey Hummingbird, Sasha's Native American Uncle. The 2 meet when Sasha arrives at her uncle's Ranch. Jim has worked hard to heal from the affects of serving in the Spanish American War and upon meeting Sasha, memories that had been buried resurface. I was really engaged in the book as the pair have to team up to battle the Corporate Oil Companies that want Sasha's uncle land. I really LOVE that they gained trust in one another, but also leaned up God to help them through the trials and discover each other. The book is one of seeking and finding out about one's self, Trusting God in all circumstances, Family and LOVE. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoy Christian Historical Romance BEAUTIFUL BOOK!

Christian Suspense Romance novels are a favorite. Crossbones by C.C. Warrens is Book 6 in the Holly Series. I have not read the books in this series until now and I am excited to read this book.

The storyline captured my interest immediately. The main characters in this book are Holly and Jordan, They are asked to take on a case that their friend Jace Walker needs assistance with. Jace will do anything to save her brother's life and that is where the case begins. Holly and Jordan are put into danger almost immediately, someone doesn't want they meddling it seems. They are not deterred, matter of fact they seem more determined to help Jace uncover some family secrets. The book is fast paced, full of twists and turns, and kept me on the edge of my chair throughout the book. The book is one of Family Secrets, Friendships, and more. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoy Christian Suspense Romance AMAZING BOOK!

Women's Fiction is a genre that I enjoy reading. Home No Matter Where by Nancy Naigle is Book 3 in the Shell Collector Series. I feel it could be a stand alone novel, although it is good to read the others in the series also.

The storyline reeled me in from the very beginning. The main characters in this story are Nina and her Daughter Kendra, along with Nina's mom Rosemary. Nina is a newly divorced Single Mom and she is trying to settle into a new life with her daughter Kendra. Kendra is a teenager who is going through the many stages of a divorce and navigate life with having her parents apart. Nina takes Kendra to Whelk's Island, to spend the Summer with her Mom Rosemary. The change of scenery might just be what they both need to get through the changes in their family dynamics. The plan seems to be backfiring when Kendra continues to make decisions that are having negative affects on many around her. Grandma Rosemary tries to guide Kendra and help her through life changes. The storyline gets deep when the 3 generations of women find that they all have some healing to do and they all take some time to heal and grow. The women not only grow individually, there is also growth within the family unit. I really LOVE that the book shows how sometimes as we look at others faults, we begin to see the depth of our own faults and true healing can begin. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Women's Fiction. GREAT BOOK!

Christian Romantic Suspense is a genre that I really enjoy. Lipsticks and Gunpowder by Jane Daly is Book 1 in the Gold Country Series and I recently had the opportunity to read the book.

The storyline had me hooked from the very first pages. The main characters of the book are Dale Hardy and Mark Goodson. Dale has arrived at Double-Bar-G Ranch under the guise that she been hired as a ranch hand. Mark is not happy that a Female has been hired and he is questioning why her. Unbeknownst to Mark, Dale is an FBI agent who is undercover to investigate some happenings on the Ranch. Dale gets suspicious of Mark for a time, that all changes when Dale realizes that Mark and herself are being targeted and she goes into protection mode. I LOVE how Mark and Dale become a team when Mark's niece goes missing and is being held for ransom. The hunt for the niece really brings a lot of suspenseful moments through the story. The many twists and turns and excitement at the end kept me on the edge of my seat. I also love that the story has faith elements. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance Suspense. GREAT BOOK!

Christian Suspense Romance is a genre that really intrigues me. The Targeted by Cara Putman is Book 3 in the Secrets to Keep series.

WOW, the book starts out with a "hooked into the book" theme and it stayed that way throughout the book. The main characters are Chloe Ainsworth and Dare Shepherd, Chloe is Gymnastics Coach, as she has had a love for Gymnastics since she was a young girl. Dare Shepherd is a Law Student and a town local. Chloe is terrified for the Gymnastic Students when someone from her past is hired for a position at the Gym she works at. She will also go to great lengths to protect the young Gymnasts she coaches. She goes into protection mode because she doesn't want the young girls to become victims like she was a victim. Dare Shepherd, who works at the local legal clinic, sits down and listens to Chloe's story. Dare immediately knows that he must do whatever he can to protect the Students and Chloe, They run into a hurdle when the Legal Clinic Director doesn't want to take on the case. I really LOVE that Dare and Chloe decide they have no time to waste and they begin to try to resolve the case and most importantly protect the Student Gymnasts. The pair come across many obstacles, although they press on even harder. I enjoyed seeing Dare and Chloe get closer in friendship and romantically as they work on this case. The storyline reminds me of real life events that happened in the Gymnastics World. I am a fan of Gymnastics and I really appreciate that the author took the time to bring such an important topic to the readers in a fictional manner. I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who enjoys Christian Suspense Romance. WONDERFUL BOOK!

Christian Historical Romance is a favorite genre of mine. Shipwrecked Faith by Danielle Grandinetti is Book 1 in the Dawning Sisters Series. I am very excited about this new series from Danielle.

The storyline starts off strong and I was hooked immediately. The setting is Chicago in 1929. The main characters are Sadie Dawning and Kellan O’Roark. Sadie, originally from Wisconsin, has been living in Chicago for a while. She told her family she had found a job in Chicago, yet she was really escaping from a man who was making advances at her in WI. Sadie is worried after receiving an urgent telegram that her father is very ill, so she makes plans to head up to Wisconsin to the family farm. Sadie is at Union Station in Chicago when she is a victim of an attempted Kidnapping. Kellan comes to her rescue and saves her from the attempt. Kellan is also "on the run" to Wisconsin as he needs to get far away from his cousin. Kellan has given the Police some info that would cause family drama with his cousin. I LOVE that Kellan offers to help Sadie get to Wisconsin via a Ship that he is also taking to Milwaukee. The adventure on the Ship is one of danger when the Ship is "wrecked" in the storms. Kellan and Sadie make it to land safely and that is where the story takes an interesting turn. The pair are beginning to get to know one another and Kellan needs to make a decision that could have Sadie making a change of heart. I LOVE that there is honesty and trust amidst the dangers and drama that are unfolding for them both. I also love that they both rely on God and their faith to help them navigate the "storms" that left them Shipwrecked and the "Storms" of life. I am in complete AWE of this storyline and I am looking forward to more books in this series. GREAT BOOK!

Prayer is a very important part of a Christian's walk with God. Pray doesn't come easy for many and some struggle with a consistent Pray life. Devotionals are a part of my Christian Walk and have been for many years. I was very intrigued by the Title of this book, same as the Title of the Song by Matthew West.

I can honestly say that I was blown away by the concept and encouragement throughout the Devotional. I was encouraged by the personal stories, the explanation of why prayer is so important and they layout of the Devotional. The book is divided into 40 Chapters, which includes Scriptures, a story that relates to the Scripture and at the end of each chapter is a Prayer Journal and a few questions to ponder. I also really like the fact that the book can be read daily, once a week or however one chooses, as the chapters are not dated.

I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who needs encouragement in their prayer life and is looking for a well laid out and easy to understand book. FANTASTIC BOOK!

Christian Thriller genre is always intriguing to read. Now Until Forever by Lisa Phillips is Book 16 in the Brand of Justice Series. I have not read any of the other books in this series, although this is a Stand Alone novel.

The storyline of this novel had me hooked from the beginning. The 2 main characters are Eliana Hope Banbury Jaxton and Chicago PD Officer Carlos Ryson. Eliana has recently moved to Chicago for a job opportunity at the Shrine Museum and to get out on her own. She is in her mid 20's and needing space away from her parents who has guarded her against dangers for most of her life. Carlos and Eliana are childhood friends and Carlos enjoys his job as a CPD Officer. The one thing that Carlos wants to do is find his missing sister and he is hoping Eliana would help him with that case. Eliana reluctant to do so, at least until Carlos makes good on how he hurt Eliana in the past. The novel has so many Action Packed twists and turns that I could not put the book down for 3hrs. The story gets really interesting when Eliana and Carlos begin to show interest in each other romantically. I also enjoyed reading 20 years into the future from the previous book. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Action Packed Thriller with Romance. FANTASTIC BOOK!

Christian Historical Romance is a much endeared genre that I truly enjoy. A Love Restored by Kelly Goshorn is the most recent book in this genre that I have read.

WOW, this storyline caught my attention and reeled me in from the beginning. The setting is 1873 in Virginia. The main characters in the story are Ruth Ann Sutton and Benjamin Coulter. Ruth Ann has taken a job as a teacher in a Freedman's School. Freedman Schools were based in the South during the Reconstruction Era in the US. Ruth Ann wants to eventually marry, although her new job might put a burden on her and the man she loves. Benjamin Coulter is also looking at a dream job and doing better at life than what he has previously been through. Benjamin and Ruth cross paths and that could change their dreams and goals in life. Benjamin really has taken an instant liking to Ruth and realizes that he has some choices to make. Ruth has always had low self esteem, although meeting Benjamin gives her a bit of confidence as he likes her for who she is and she doesn't have to change to find love. The story is about following God's will and not our own. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Romance. FANTASTIC BOOK!

Writing my Real-Life Romance

When I first began tinkering with storytelling in 2011, I wrote about an Irish mail order bride. I’m not sure what it is about mail order bride stories that fascinates me, but I will read everyone I can get my hands on. When my husband discovered that I was writing creatively he looked over my chapter and advised that it “wasn’t bad,” then suggested I write our story.

Honestly, God had whispered in my heart a long time ago that I would share our story, but I assumed I’d give my testimony in a ladies Bible study or something. I never imagined I’d share some of the most painful moments of my life with the world in written form. However, the more I thought about it, the more I agreed that our story had all the elements needed for a great romance—interesting characters, a strong spiritual arc, and enough conflict to drive a Mac truck through the hardest of hearts.

Like my full-figured heroine, Ruth Ann, I’ve struggled with weight issues my entire life. I’ve had cruel things said about my appearance. Oftentimes by people who were supposed to love me.

Boys don’t date chubby girls.

You have such a pretty face, you really should do something about your figure.

Men don’t marry overweight women.

But their insensitive words failed in comparison to the ugly way I spoke to myself.

You’re fat.

You’re ugly.

No one likes you.

No man…will ever…love you.

I’d become so defined by the negative comments and opinions of those surrounding me, I no longer saw anything to esteem. I’d allowed my self-worth to be determined by a yardstick that measured my value according to the size of my waist or the flatness of my stomach, always coming up short.

Then one night the unthinkable happened. Mike, the man I’d previously been dating told me the real reason he ended our relationship weeks earlier. “I made a vow that I wouldn’t marry a woman who was overweight.” My mind spiraled out of control recalling every unkind word that others or I had spoken about my appearance. Within an hour I was curled up on my bathroom floor, an entire bottle of ibuprofen emptied in shaky palm.

Thankfully, that is not where the story ended. Weeks earlier, knowing I was sad about the breakup with this man, my pastor’s wife asked if I had been thinking about suicide. Shocked, I told her no. Prompted by the Holy Spirit the two of us prayed against the spirit of suicide and that no harm would come to me by own hand. I firmly believe those prayers saved my life in that dark moment when the voice of the enemy was silenced, and I chose to live.

Although I learned that God loved me in a way no man ever could, he brought a soul mate into my life. A loving husband who, despite my fuller figure, often greets me in the morning with a loving salutation, “Good morning, Beautiful.”

Mike and I will celebrate 36 years of marriage in June.

Yes, the same Mike whose other words had sent me into a life-threatening tailspin.

God had to purge those negative thoughts from the minds of both Mike and me. We had to experience the fullness of God’s love for us before we could give and receive love unconditionally in marriage—to anyone. God could’ve decided to bring us new relationships, start over with a clean slate. Instead, He taught us about forgiveness, trust, and unconditional love.

He had not only chosen to heal, but to restore.

Our journey to unconditional love and acceptance is told through my characters in A Love Restored. At its core, A Love Restored is not only a story of love, romance, heartache and restoration, but also a story about the power of words over our lives. It is a story about the struggle each of us faces to take our thoughts captive to the truth of Scripture so we may experience the fullness of God’s unequivocal love for us. As my husband and I discovered, it is only then that we are truly able to give and receive love, unconditionally.

My prayer for you and your lovely readers is that you will not allow the enemy to steal the joy that is rightfully yours as a child of God. Speak the truth of the gospel over yourself every day and ask God to give you His eyes to see yourself as He does (1 Samuel 16:7b).

Christian Women Fiction novels are a great read. Stronger than the Storm by Deena Adams is the most recent book in this genre that I have read.

I can honestly say this book had me captivated from the very beginning. The storyline involves Beth, her husband Kevin, who is a Pastor and their daughters, especially their middle daughter Leesa. Leesa decides to run away from home at age 18 and try to make it on her own. Her decisions once she is on her own, lead to some deep consequences when she comes home not long after running away. Leesa's consequences throw the entire family into further turmoil. Beth has been hiding a secret for over 19 years that she now decides to reveal and it brings the family to a stand still. Beth is angry at herself, but hopes that the confession will bring open communication and healing for the family. Kevin is at a time in his life where he is feeling a career change might in his future.

The "Storms are Raging" for the HolBrook family, but God is bigger than any Storm of Life. The Family didn't give up in the raging storms, they allowed God to heal the family and bring them closer. I know I can relate to both Beth and Leesa. I had a rebellious stage in my life, during my Young Adult years. I also had a secret that I recently revealed to my Young Adult sons about that time in my life. I most certainly felt that the news would cause strife, yet the news was well taken. I truly enjoyed this debut novel by Deena Adams and I look forward to more novels by Deena. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction and needs some encouragement through the Storms of Life. GREAT BOOK

Crafting a novel from authentic life experiences is a challenging task, but it’s one I sensed God’s call to undertake. If the Lord can encourage those facing heartbreaking situations through my struggles as the mother of a prodigal twenty years ago, I’m all in.

Growing up, I tried my hardest to please my parents and teachers, but I always felt I didn’t measure up. As a Type A person, I’m sure that mindset was my doing, not theirs.

Fast forward to my season as a young mom, and my insecurities ramped up even more. When I became a Christian in my late twenties, I already had three small children and longed to be the world’s best mother and do everything right. I saw my kids’ mistakes as an indictment of my parenting abilities, leading me to believe myself a failure and to try harder to succeed.

With that attitude, you can imagine how I reacted when our teenage daughter ran away from home and returned pregnant—especially since my husband is the pastor of our church. Let’s just say it wasn’t pretty.

The emotional upheaval I endured while watching our child make one poor decision after another revealed my many shortcomings. Among the important lessons God taught me was what a shallow person I’d been and how much I wanted others’ respect and for them to find me acceptable—no, exceptional. Sadly, I was at a place in life where other people’s opinions seemed to carry more weight than my children’s feelings, but I was blind to my faults.

As I walked through the deep valley with a prodigal, God, in His great mercy, opened my eyes and showed me the truth about myself.

My journey of healing and restoration with our daughter was the catalyst for my debut novel, Stronger than the Storm. I pray that the challenging themes I address will uplift those going through extreme difficulty and that the embedded truths inspire hope in Jesus.

In my book, the Holbrook’s crisis begins as ours did, with a teen runaway getting pregnant by a guy she barely knew. I incorporated some factual events from our lives and drew many of the characters’ raw emotions from personal history. Although I gave Beth Holbrook, the mother in the story, a few of my personality traits, including the passion to be a supermom and failing miserably, the bulk of this family’s journey is fictional.

My experience as an adult daughter inspired the revelation of a long-kept secret in the latter part of the book. To avoid spoilers, I’ll simply state that nothing prepares anyone for such devastating news.

Yet, amid turmoil and unexpected adversity, God is still on the throne and has a perfect plan for our good and His glory. When we surrender everything to Him, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus through life’s storms, we can gain true peace and cling to the truth that God is stronger than anything we face.

In Stronger than the Storm, the Holbrook family must come to this understanding as well. As you read the book, I trust that this family’s journey, and mine, will provide you with encouragement and hope.

I really enjoy Christian Romantic Suspense books. Vinny by MaryAnn Dorio is book #1 in the South of Philly Italians Romantic suspense series and the most recent book that I have read.

WOW, this storyline starts out strong and kept me intrigued throughout the book. Vinny has just graduated from Art School and he is hopeful that his future will include a career in the Arts. He is currently working at the Family Deli and trying to help his brother Louie change his ways. Louie is killed and Vinny and his entire family are grief stricken and it really changes things for Vinny. Rosalie works at an Art Gallery and meets Vinny there and they are immediately interested in one another. Rosalie is a strong Christian and is concerned about proceeding in a relationship with Vinny unless he is a Christian. I really love that the author focuses on Vinny's growth throughout the family tragedy and how Rosalie plays a significant role in his growth. The twists and turns, the mystery involving threats on Rosalie and Vinny kept me reading and I finished the book within 4 hours. The book is one of Tragedy, Grief, Romance, Faith and Growth. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance with Suspense. GREAT BOOK!

I grew up in a home where Italian was my mother tongue. My late mother, one of the first war brides of World War II, was an immigrant from the romantic city of Naples, Italy. When I was born, she knew no English. So, we communicated in Italian. Although my mother eventually learned English, she and I always spoke in Italian until she passed away.

When I went off to college, I majored in French and minored in Italian. After I graduated, I spent a year of study at the University of Florence in Italy, earning my Master’s degree in Italian Language and Literature. Afterward, I taught Italian at the university level here in the States.

From my earliest days, Italy was a big part of my culture and of my heart. And it still is. It is no wonder then that I gravitate to writing fiction with an Italian flair. This is the milieu I know and understand best. It is the milieu I love. And I want to share it with you through my stories.

But, my fiction is far more than Italian. It is universal. In other words, it deals with issues that pertain to all of us humans. Issues of pride, rebellion, lust, and greed. Issues of deception, betrayal, hatred, and fear. Issues that result from our failure to love.

Loving Sarah is steeped in the easygoing culture and traditions of the Smoky Mountains in the 1950s. The story is a sweet, small-town romance with a heart-wrenching battle to make the right choice. This book will keep you turning pages with its mix of loyalty, betrayal, uncertainty, and emotional stakes.

Small Town Romance books are a great genre. Loving Sarah by Jo Huddleston is the most recent book that I have read. Jo Huddleston is a new to me author and I was excited to read this book.

Wow, the storyline was very interesting from the very beginning. The setting is 1950's in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The main characters are Sarah and Robert. Sarah loves manages the Candy Store that was started by her mama. She is looking forward to her upcoming wedding to William. Robert reluctantly comes to Gatlinburg to help run a business while his father is taking easy after an injury from a fall. The instant attraction between Sarah and Robert brings chills to Sarah. Sarah is feeling like she has known Robert for a long time and begins to gain more and more interest in Robert. Robert is having thoughts that he might just have reason to stay in Tennessee rather then his original plans of going home to Michigan. The story has a lot of twists that kept me very interested in reading until I finished 3 hours later. I really enjoyed Sarah and Robert's love triangle storyline. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Small Town Romance. GREAT BOOK!

Christian Historical Fiction is a favorite Genre of mine! Miss Beth Bettencourt by Eva Marie Everson is the most recent book that I have read.

I was immediately captivated by this Storyline. The setting is 1962 in Bynum, Georgia. The main characters are Beth Bettencourt and David Patrick Martin. Beth is a School Teacher who choose to remain single after her twin sister "stole" her boyfriend. Beth's twin sister, Elise recently passed away and Beth's parents are grieving by spending time traveling. Beth has an encounter in her own home when David Patrick Martin enters her home and is found asleep in the guest room. She is scared, yet she is inquisitive of who this gentleman got into her home. I LOVE that she helps the man once she learns of his story. Beth knows she has built "walls" to protect herself from the disappointment of falling in love, she also wonders if there could be someone who could break down the walls. David also know as "Marty" begins to get to know Beth and she slowly begins to open up about her past. I also LOVE that Beth especially begins to let God guide her and that Marty is also a believer. David and Beth's story is one of Trust, Faith and Forgiveness. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Fiction. GREAT BOOK!

Christian RomCom books have become a genre that I really enjoy. . A Brewed Awakening by Pepper Basham is the latest Rom-com book that I have read.

WOW, the storyline captured my attention immediately and I could not stop reading . The setting is small town of Wisteria, North Carolina. The 2 main characters in this story are Daphne Austen and Finn Dashwood. Daphne has always enjoyed "all things English" and was excited to run he late Grandmother's TeaRoom in her small town. Finn is a newcomer to Wisteria, moving to the small town with his6 year old daughter from England He decides to open an English Pub right next door to Daphne's TeaRoom. One would think the 2 Businesses would compliment one another, yet the pair is in a battle to be the Business to cater an extravagant wedding. The fun really begins when they are both selected to cater the BIG event. Daphne and Finn continue the competition against one another, yet they are also seeing they are truly "opposites attract." The bickering back and forth, the trying to "one up" each other while working on this event, really makes the storyline amazing. I really LOVE that they admit they have somethings to work through individually, yet they know they are beginning to enjoy each other. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian RomCom books! GREAT BOOK!
