Hi Everyone,

I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I have some fabulous news. My new website is FINALLY up and running. Woohoo. I'm so excited to finally this up for you all to see. Once of the things I've done is merged this blog into my website. So if you want to continue to follow me, which I would love for you all to do ;-) head on over. There are a few areas still being worked on, but for the most part it's done!!

My new address is happycakes.com.au. From here you can easily (I hope) find the blog!

Introducing Dave & Angela

I've said it before about Angela and Dave, but I'll never forget the first time I met them, they walked in & the only thing I could see was this massive oversized scrap book that Angela was holding. In my head I'm thinking "here we go"!! But contrary to "the book", Angela & Dave, will be a couple that I won't forget in a hurry, just beautiful. They new exactly what they wanted, without being over the top about it, so nice. Everything about their wedding screamed elegant and classic. The venue was stunning, I loved it all. Here's some pictures that Angela & Dave have kindly allowed me to share, gorgeous. Congratulations Angela & Dave, thank you so much for allowing me to create for you xo

A very last minute order for one of my most loveliest customers aka my newly adopted sister Stacey!! Under the pump this week as it was, but how could I say know when Stacey's daugther rang me herself, if I'd said no I reckon I would of literally broken her heart! Miss Madi was desperate for some cuppies for her lovely mum who always gets Happy Cakes for everyone else. I kinda wished I'd had more time to create something spectacular with the cool theme that Madi wanted, Smurfs!! Happy Birthday Miss Stacey, hope you enjoyed your cakes xo P.S I hope I don't get an in flux of calls from daughters wanting last minute cakes for their mums hehehehehe.

Ben The Ring Man Marries His Gal!!

Jungle Theme!

I made this cake for little Blake who celebrated his first birthday, Jungle style! This little cake took a plane ride all the way out to Mt Isa eeek. I always get nervous in these situations hehehehe. Happy birthday Blake, hope you had a great day.

Two little blue birds.....

This cake was for the lovely Terese and her now new husband Lucas who were married recently. I had a lot of fun with this cake, a little variation to a traditional plain wedding cake but still very elegant. Had fun with the two tones, you could seriously go to town with this technique!! Hint Hint Brides ;-) Toppers were provided by Terese. Congratulations to you both.

Introducing Dillon & Sally.

I have so many beautiful updates for the social pages, and this one truly is gorgeous. Sally and Dillon were married on Magnetic Island on the beach. Their reception also was practically on the beach, beautiful white marquees were sit up just up from the sand. Sally truly was a gorgeous bride to work. A lot of work went into this wedding, but between Sally and her mum nothing was too much trouble. I love the fresh citrus tones of this wedding, so pretty. There are so many beautiful pictures from this wedding I had a very hard time choosing.

Half Way Celebration Cake #2!

So a few weeks ago the JCU Veterinary Students Assoc celebrated their Half Way celebration gala dinner for the Vet students. Last year I was lucky enough to make their cake and when I received the call this year I just couldn't say no! Ryan told me that the theme this year was beach and the only stipulation was there had to be little injured animals like last year. Easy! I pretty much had free reign on this cake and I wanted something different, not your standard "beachy" cakes and I really wanted to create something amazing for them and for me hehehehe. I have been visualising this cake coming together for weeks and initially struggled with it, but by the end of the process I was completely lovin this cake all over. So many hours went into this cake and also a little heart and soul!! I enjoyedevery minute of it. When the guys came to pick the cake up there were so many ooohs and ahhhs, which makes it completely worth it, I even got hugs. Not to mention, Ryan sent me an amazing message that actually brought tears to my eyes! Tragic I know, my payoff has been received and it's all worth it ;-) Thank you so much for allowing me to create this cake, hope you all had an amazing night.

Clowning Around!

Oh did I have fun with this little cake! I love a new cake design hehehe. It gets my creative juices (so to speak) flowing again lol! I made this cake for Briana's little sister Tegan who celebrated her 21st. It would seem that Tegan has a love affair with clowns, hence the clown cake!! Me personally I find them creepy, but I have to admit this little guy is a bit cute. Happy birthday Tegan hope you enjoyed your cake ;-)

Wow, I have a lot of new posts to share with you all on the social pages!

Back in May last year I was lucky enough to make Peter & Skye's wedding cupcakes. Skye new what she wanted from the first time we met. Peter was only ever really interested when it came to the taste testing, which really has been the case ever since hehehehe. Peter & Skye had an intimate cocktail style wedding, where everyone was free to sit where they liked around the gorgeous couches, cocktail bars and large outdoor tables. Such a lovely couple, who over the last year I've made more special occasion cakes for ;-) I'll post those soon! I know it's been over a year Skye & Peter, but what a year, congratulations to you both.

Here's some Mr Happy Happy Cakes I made for a friend's 40th today. It's a bit of an in joke which started a couple of years back when he wore a Mr Happy shirt. Let's just say there's a whole lot of irony going on with these & he calls them "Ironic Happy Cakes", which is appropriate considering....

I'm coming to Brisbane!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Well it's been a while, sorry to have neglected you all :-( So much has been going on what with work, work and work, not to mention children, husband, house and trying to have a life! Who am I kidding I have no life hehehehe. I'm sure there are a lot of you in the same boat, it's the merry go round called life!

Anyway that's enough about me, lets get on to the fun-ness that is cake! I've decided to take Happy Cakes on the road and the first place I'll be visiting is Brisbane. I'm really looking forward to this and hope that you can come to the course or at least help me spread the word. At this stage I have only set one date, 16th of January 2012. Obviously if you guys book this out and want more then I would be more than happy to come back.

Anyone willing to distribute flyers for this would be greatly appreciated. E-mail me your address and I'd be happy to post you some ;-) I really really really want to teach in Brisbane hehehe.

Brisbane Anyone??

Hi everyone and in particular everyone in Brisbane!!

Who would like to see me in January 2012?? I'm thinking of running a Springtime Funtime course. It would be a weekday course. If you want to find out about the boring details click on the Course Information tab on the blog ;-) This course covers a variety of piping techniques that I show you on cupcakes, but this can be translated onto bigger cakes as well. It's also an introduction into the world of fondant where we make bugs, bees, snails, flowers etc.

Please let me know if you are serious about this happening & fingers crossed it might happen!! I know it's smack bang in the middle of school holidays, but we all need a break from the kids hehehehehe and it really is a fun course ;-)

A wedding cake with a difference.

A while back I made a mexican themed cake for my SIL which had some calaveras on it. At the time, I thought I'd never make them again, not generally something you have, especially on wedding cakes. Well lucky for me, Simone wanted to incorporate some calaveras on her wedding cake this week for her husband to be Stuart, who is a professional air brush artist. He's always drawing them and she wanted to include them on the cake, keeping with the colours of the wedding. Congratulations to you both, hope you had a lovely day and enjoyed your cake ;-)

A last minute cake order....

Here's a last minute wedding cake I created this week for a somewhat distressed MOB (mother of the bride). I received a phone call Monday evening from a lady asking if I could possibly make her daughter a cake for Saturday! She filled me in on her runaway/missing in action cake decorator and was at her wits end trying to organise another decorator. With an already hectic week, I said yes, eeek, I think she caught me at a weak moment! All good though, I was happy to help out.

I made was for Kate and Clint married in Airlie Beach. What a spectacular location for a wedding, gorgeous. Kate came to me with a picture of what she wanted, she told me that no one new what style the wedding cake would be as it was going to be a little surprise for her guests! Libby & Wayne's Cake.

Since making a wedding cake for Klara a little while back, I've been asked by quite a few people to replicate this, especially the bow look!! If you already know of my drama with the bow, then you can skip the next part, but for those of you who don't, do you know how hard it is to tie a nice looking bow??!! I spent over 45mins trying to do the one for Klara, thinking to myself & cursing to myself that how ridiculous is it that I can't tie a stoopid bow!! I can make one out of fondant, but not tie one. Anyway luckily for me I have friends in high places and the lovely Chris from 4 Li'l Darlins is my secret to nice looking bows ;-) I don't even try now, I just call her hehehe. Thanks luv. This cake was for Libby & Wayne who were married on the weekend in a lovely backyard reception down on the river. All white cake and no where to hide, love the finish on this.

Dr Seuss Wedding Cake

Hi,

There are some types of cakes that you'll probably only get to make once and I think this is one of them!! When I first met Kelly-Louise I immediately thought this girl is fun, then when she handed me a copy of her wedding invite, I thought maybe a little wacky too hehehehehe. Kelly-Louise wanted me to create a Dr Suess inspired wedding cake, but not just a subtle hint of Dr Seuss but full blown Dr Seuss all the way. Kelly-Louise & Les were having a Dr Seuss themed wedding!! Wow, I was so in my element, this was going to be fun. But would I succeed? "Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed." Fun it was. I had the most funnest time creating this cake and was just lovin the end result sick hehehehe. This cake required me to get in touch with my inner Dr Seuss and "Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the things you can think up if only you try!" Kelly-Louise & Les THANK YOU for chosing an amazing theme and THANK YOU for allowing me to create this cake for you. I was sad to see this one go, but Dr Seuss once said "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Congratulations to you both I hope you had an amazing day xo.
