So...Remember that time about a month ago, when you forgot what Christmas was like and you were all ' I love shopping and browsing for the perfect present for everyone'. This is my illustration of that feeling. I like this feeling...I wish it would last ( or at least longer then a week....) because it swiftly transforms in to this next feeling....

Celebrating the poppy

I thought i'd take a break from posting Christmas cards and show you a old design that's going into a new range of art cards i'll be selling in the new year.

This is one of my favourites and i'm happy to be able to start selling it once more. She will be part of a set that links together illustrations of vintage styles and flowers, a theme that has been done before but certainly a good one.

Here's the second card to be printed and added to the christmas card range i'll be selling this year. I've taken inspiration from family gatherings and christmas parties where you'll always find this couple, slow dancing together, the envy of young couples everywhere.

Dancing Girls for Christmas

Hello everyone! I'mgoing to be updating with my range of christmas card designs that will soon be available to buy!!
Its my first time trying to create card designs so let me know what you think of my festive dancers that will soon be on their way. :)

As you can see this image is not a festive dancer...she is just a lady dragging a fir tree which is only socially acceptable during this one, very specific time of year. Lady lumberjacks...so misunderstood.

Clicking through links on Chictopia i sketched the faces i saw. A nice fun warm up today to practice different face shapes.

Trying different sketch styles to see which would work best to do caricatures with. What do you think? have you got a favourite? So far i quite like the most imaginative one on the left! Might be hard for people to recognise themselves though!

I hope to start doing caricatures at events so i'm practising a lot to be ready!

Original fashion illustration for Avery by Wang.

I recently teamed up with Avery by Wang to do a series of illustrations depicting various ways of styling their wonderful shirtdress. Here is the first final illustration! This was the first illustration I finished for the series and it set the tone for the rest of the designs.

To give you an idea of how the process works when I create my fashion illustrations, below is the initial sketch that I showed Annching the founder and designer of the fashion collection.

Also a lot of the time you guys just get to see the final piece, but I know I always love to see peoples sketch books so over the next week or so i'll be going through my process of how I created these illustrations.

I hope it inspires some other budding fashion artists to pick up the paintbrush!

Drawing from a reference

Currently I'm working on a project with the very talented Annching Wang from Avery by Wang. Here is a quick warm up illustration i did from a reference picture of Delmy Rivera. If people are interested in me talking a bit more about how I go about drawing from reference images for fashion illustrations, let me know and i'll try and put something together for you guys!

Life has whizzed by me this year, things have been very busy as I know they must be for you guys as well. However, as the season turns, I'm returning to one of my loves, drawing the beautiful fashion styles of bloggers.

Calke Abbey Exhibition

Its been quite quiet here recently, I've been busy trying to learn how to create a website ( you can see my attempt here www.lauramossop.co.uk) and creating work for a large exhibition i'm involved in at Calke abbey which is a gorgeous place to visit so much history...so many taxidermied birds!

The house can be seen to be quite creepy as the Harpur-Crewes who owned and lived there for a good few hundred years were quite reclusive and had a interest in collecting unusual birds from around the world.

Whats left at Calke Abbey is what remains of their family house exactly as they left it once the last heir died. It's a time capsule that the National trust helps to keep.

Now, so not to give the game away too much, i'll post a few photos i've taken the the entrance and grounds of Calke...I'll be updating which sneak peeks of what i'll be showing with a full review of the show once we've begun on the first weekend of August!
