until now we did all this:

* took off all wallpaper (9 rooms, one more still needs to be done)
* took off all carpets
* took off tiles from kitchen and bathroom (one more room needs to be done)
* prepared the walls for painting
* ground most of the doorframes and painted them
* ground half of the stairrail
* chose kitchen, floors, tiles
* made preparations to suspended the kitchen ceiling
* set all the cables
* cleaned the house from all the crap!

after the kitchen is done (which is definitely the biggest part of all) we can finally paint ALL rooms, set the floors and tiles and work on all the little details that you discover along the way. it’s insanity.

and inbetween all this we’re getting married next week and had to buy dresses, rings, stuff and whatnots. luckily martin and i are not very uncomplicated when it comes to choose things for the wedding so that – at least – was an easy task :-) (YES… there you can see how fuzzy my brain is :-) i meant “complicated”)

2. baked a cake for the best mom and bought some champagne for the best dad

5. watching the rain while discussing who’s going to get us beer

but though it feels like an unbearable journey we do have moments that are so unbelievably surprising it’s almost magical. martin found an old sewing machine and a TURQUOISE type writer in the basement left behind by the old tenants – clearly a sign we bought the right house :-)

we also realized that removing wallpaper is NOTHING compared to removing tiles by hand. my dad removed the majority of the floors with the heavy air hammer (making the house shake) but unfortunately not everything could be removed. so it took a whole day to get rid of the rest with a hammer and a pick. pain in the ass – we can tell!!  and then i managed to hit my thumb with the iron hammer and for 2 hours i tried not to run beserk from the pain. i definitely had to pause for the rest of the day putting cream on my hand hoping nothing is broken and i can continue to help the next day.

so it actually looks like things are getting done. but it’s still a long road to go since we can only work after 6 pm and the weekends. i am so grateful my dad has the skills and the experience of 30 years in building construction. we would be helpless without him. and my sweet mom brought us warm food on sunday so we could pause for a while and just enjoy a littlebit of the day.

counting the days we can finally move in i look forward to our wedding in 3 weeks and the short get-away we make. after that it only takes another 3 weeks until the truck comes to get our stuff and we have to move. wow. writing this down makes me realize that it’s only 7 weeks to go. let’s hope it will all fall into place. i’ll keep you posted on this journey! xoxoxo

it all began with a radio in the (soon to be) kitchen and a scraper, loads of water and good motivation. after wetting the wallpaper the bare concrete walls revealed lovely notes from whoever owned the house before, but after  hours, endless hours, hurting arms and hands i was fed up. and tired.

a day later my martin joined me and helped removing the paper. saturday evening the house looked like a ruin, wet paper everywhere, more sore hands and arms.

sunday evening we finished 4 rooms and i was actually happy to return to the office (who knew i’d ever say this). it’s a mess and after 72 hours of hard work motivation is not the same anymore. but knowing it’ll all look fabulous when it’s done is a good reward.

sunday i wore my heart rate monitor just to see what such a day will do to my fitness and the result was cool. 9 hours of renewing a house burn 1015 calories and 64% of fat. no gym session can compete with that. and i actually got some stuff done! :-) i guess in the next 2 months i’ll turn into the fat free self i always wish i was. haha.

that’s what’s going at the moment. beside the 9 hours of office every day. if you want you can follow the journey on instagram, too. i’ll keep you posted on how our nest will turn from a messy place to our dream come true. xoxo

da habe ich doch in einer zeitschrift diese wunderbaren tee-macher 5 cups and some sugar gefunden und im netz aufgesucht. das einkaufsvergnügen fing direkt auf der homepage an. sehr schön gestaltet und illustriert. und dann habe ich verstanden, dass ich mir meinen eigenen tee zusammenstellen kann. WOOOHOOO. das hab ich gemacht. direkt 2 mal. und den “bursche mit geschmack” habe ich fertig zusammengemixt mit ins körbchen gelegt.

kurze zeit später hielt ich meinen tee in der hand. packaging – unfassbar schön aus kraft papier mit schwarzer illustration. die motive konnte ich mir nach der tee zusammenstellung aussuchen. es gibt ein blumenmotiv, einen fuchs und eine weihnachtliche box. namen durfte ich meinen tees auch geben. hach!

der tee ist lose verpackt, auf dem anhänger jeder packung steht nochmal genau was ich zusammen gestellt habe und wie die zubereitung sein sollte. herrlich frisch und überhaupt nicht komisch im geschmack, denn ich wußte ja nicht genau was ich tat. ich habe einfach frei schnauze hübsch aussehend oder klingende zutaten gemischt. der ausschlaggebende faktor war – muss ich zugeben – das packaging. allerdings ist der tee wirklich ein volltreffer meines geschmacks. großes kompliment an diese kleine firma. guckts euch mal an bei 5 cups!

und jetzt beginnt mein wochenende mit spachtel, hoffentlich stressfrei ablösbarer tapete und viel viel guter laune. :-) ich wünsch euch ne gute zeit!! xoxo

1. wir haben den schlüssel fürs eigenheim überreicht bekommen. * we received the key to our new home!!

man kann auch mehrere abzüge pro bild auswählen und (wenn man es nicht überliest) eine nachricht hinzufügen. ein bild kostet 0,79 € inklusive versand. also für 2,73 € bekommt man 3 bilder zugeschickt. geht! bezahlt wird per kredit karte oder paypal * you can choose as many pictures as you want, add a little note and you pay 0,79 € per picture, inculuding shipping! i think that’s fine! pay with your credit card or paypal. very easy!

und es hat genau 4 tage gebraucht, da hatte martin die überraschung auf dem tisch. bilder vom abend, als wir unser eigenheim gefeiert haben. hat er sich gefreut. das packaging ist sehr hübsch und ich bin begeistert über die super qualität der bilder. die passen nämlich genau ins fotoalbum. das format der bilder ist ca. 8 x 10 cm * it took exactly 4 days for the pictures to get delivered, they were wrapped nicely in an orange envelope and martin loved his surprise. the format of the pictures (approximately  8x10cm) fits exactly into our 2013 album and the quality is super.

die app ist wunderbar übersichtlich und hübsch gestaltet. parallel habe ich meiner freundin einen kleinen gruß und mir selber auch noch ein paar bilder zuschicken lassen. bestimmt gibt es günstigere alternativen (ich sprach davon), aber ich finde, man kann es auch wunderbar als postkarten alternative aus dem ausland nutzen (mit selbstgemachten bildern) (oder wenn man wie ich notorischer postkarten-wieder-mitbringer ist, weil vor ort keine briefmarken aufzutreiben waren), oder eben zum photografische grüße aller art verschicken. die möglichkeiten sind doch schier endlos, oder?
the app is beautifully designed and it’s a joy to send away some pictures. i also send greetings to my friend and a few more pictures to myself. of courese, there are cheaper ways to print iphone pictures but why don’t use it instead of sending self-made postcards from your holiday or all kinds of greetings to your friends. i suggest you should try it. you’ll love it, too!!

vor ein paar wochen bekam ich von paperscreen ein buntes paket mit blanko heften und zetteln und blöcken geschickt und ich versprach, dass ich die schätze auf ihre funktionalität testen werde. zu meinen lieblingen habe ich die kleinen iphone5 großen mini-heftchen FIVE auserkoren. zusammen mit den printer scraps in der gleichen größe sind sie gerade jetzt in dieser organisationslastigen zeit die ich gerade verlebe meine rettung schlechthin.

die heftchen sind – wie alle paperscreen produkte – in der größe eines technischen gerätes, das fast jeder mensch mindestens ein mal in der tasche vertreten hat. egal ob apple oder android, fast alle gängigen formate sind abgedeckt.

momentan habe ich einen umzug, eine hochzeit und 1564563 ideen in meinem kopf zu verwalten. so wurden die 3 iphone großen heftchen kurzerhand zu meinen projektbüchern, die super in mein handtaschen-mäppchen passen. so habe ich jetzt alle informationen mitsamt stiften immer dabei. was mir sehr gut gefällt ist, dass die hefte per se nicht so umfangreich sind. d.h. ich kann ein heft pro projekt anlegen und hab danach nicht elend viel leeren platz übrig, denn sie füllen sich ratz-fatz. extra informationen, einkaufszettel, flexible to-do listen kommen auf ein scrap papier und werden mit einem washi-tape fähnchen markiert. einfach super! ah und mit washi tape kann man die paperscreens ohnehin super aufhübschen, wobei das matte schwarz schon stylisch genug ist. nur da ich ja 3 gleiche teile im mäppchen habe, musste ich mir das projekt “neues zuhause” mal eben kenntlicher machen. das wird sehr oft gebraucht momentan.

was ich auch sehr gerne mag – allerdings bei den kleinen büchern vermisse – ist das aufgedruckte lineal beim SCOLA heft. ich persönlich kann ohne lineal oder maßband kaum überleben und bin nie ohne dieses werkzeug unterwegs. ständig muss ich was abmessen und auch bei den kleinen FIVE heften wäre das ein tolles add-on.

wie sieht dein arbeitsplatz jetzt gerade in diesem moment aus? nicht schummeln! wir wollen das wahre leben sehen!

gute frage. da musste ich eben mal direkt nachschauen und dabei feststellen, dass ich eigentlich nur auf zwei shop gestoßen bin, die ich vorher noch nicht so auf dem schirm hatte und die mit immens gut gefallen.

• room for emptiness – gefällt mir super da die illustrationen toll abgestimmt sind auf die schlichtheit der keramik. eine wunderbare kombination!
• engelenchen – die clutches sind super! die habe ich schon länger auf dem wunschzettel, bei der nächsten gelegenheit ist eine mir!

ansonsten kann ich euch verraten welche shops meine alltime favorites sind:

• frau sieben: zurzeit der einzige schmuck den ich regelmäßig trage, weils einfach genau meinen geschmack trifft! (zusammen natürlich mit dem verlobungsring)
• ninotschka: verschönert unsere wohnung mit wunderbaren collagen. jeden tag ein fest.
• renna deluxe: tolle papeterie, ich liebe die gestempelten buchstaben, typo geht bei mir eh immer und christiane ist einfach super in dem was sie macht!
• werkstaat: treffe ich in einer schönen regelmäßigkeit auf diversen frankfurter veranstaltungen und bin immer wieder hin und weg von dem wunderschönen porzellan. ich war auch schon einmal in der werkstatt und möchte unbedingt mal einen kurs dort machen.

Was war der am weitesten entfernte und der naheste Ort, an den du deine Produkte schon verschickt hast?
also letztens erst habe ich ein strickarmband nach frankfurt verschickt. und das weiteste war bisher australien. das kommt gar nicht so selten vor.
