I have posted
below the two different sized cords and crimp beads that I use the most when
making stretch bracelets. I gave the item numbers next to each one so you can
look them up on the Fire Mountain Gems website. I’m not affiliated with
FireMountainGems.com in any way, shape or form. This is strictly for your
information on where I order my materials because I have so many people ask me.

I use this when stringing the light weight or average beads:
*0.8mm Power Cord

Item numbers

I usually use this for the beads that have a little more weight to them:

*1.0mm Power Cord
with 3x3 crimp tubes:

Item numbers H201708BS and

I made two sets...one for Mom and one for Grandma. The labels fit perfectly on a wide mouth, quart size Mason jar. This project is also adaptable for Birthdays and other occasions, since I didn't add "Happy Mother's Day" to the label. I used "I Love You Mom" and "I Love You Grandma" in its place. Print on label paper and attach to the jar. I would take a piece of peel and stick laminating plastic and adhere it over the label for added protection. I did add a few little sticky back rhinestones to the jar's label. I thought it was a nice touch! To adhere the ribbon around the rim of the jar, I used Terrifically Tacky Tape. Fill the jars with whatever you like! If you look below this post, you'll find a colorful idea list for filling Mason jars. I made the list, using ideas for all seasons, so you'll have to go through it to find some appropriate Mother's day ideas. Have fun with this project!
Therefore, I came up with the idea of a "Mother's Day Memorial Flower Seed Packet." You may want to pass these packets out to people in church/family/friends who have lost their mother.

Actually, you could use these packets all year round by adding them to a sympathy card. Wildflower or forget-me-not seeds would be very nice.

People appreciate the homemade yummy-ness (Is that a word? LOL!) and thoughtfulness. Enjoy this easy recipe!

In a large mixing bowl, mix the following ingredients together until well blended. Shape the "dough" into palm-sized egg shapes. You may want to use a plastic egg to help "mold" the dough into egg shapes. Place dough into the freezer for about an hour, or until nice and firm. Right before taking your eggs out of the freezer, make the chocolate coating recipe below.

Peanut Butter Eggs:

16 Oz. Package of Powdered Sugar
1 Cup Peanut Butter
1/4 Cup Butter
1 Tablespoon Milk
1 Teaspoon Vanilla

For The Chocolate Coating, Melt Chocolate and Shortening in a Double Boiler. Use a fork with long tines to stick into the frozen peanut butter eggs and dip into chocolate. Place on waxed paper and decorate with colored candy sprinkles (If you want to). Allow chocolate to set until firm. You may want to decorate with frosting swirls, flowers, or you may want to personalize the egg by writing the person's name. Your imagination is your only limit!

Chocolate Coating:
1 ~ 8 oz. Package Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate
Great Process To Make Crafts For The Guys! EASY, Inexpensive & Versatile!

This craft process has actually been around for a number of years, however, I thought it was a craft worth repeating! It's inexpensive, easy and you can make a number of different things using this process. Plus, the kids can get involved! Click on the video above for a visual as to how the process is done or see below for instructions.

Materials Needed:

High Adhesion Masking Tape (Walmart)
Kiwi Brown Color Shine Shoe Polish in the Bottle (Walmart)
Mod Podge (Gloss)
Sponge Brush
Craft Blade (if needed)
Scrapbooking letters or embellishments (optional)
Acrylic Paint (if needed)

1. Tear small pieces of the high-adhesion masking tape and overlap the pieces in various directions onto your project. In this case, my project was a glass vase from the Dollar Tree.
2. If you are doing a wide open vase like above, you can take your craft blade and cut away the excess tape on the inside rim. I then gave the inside 4 coats of acrylic paint and 1 coat of Mod Podge. If you are making a box, you won't have to do this step. You can use the masking tape method on the inside. The only reason I had to do this step was because I was working on a wide-mouthed vase.
3. Place 2 coats of the Kiwi shoe polish on the tape and make "wiping motions" Allow to dry in between coats. Allow it set overnight and the polish will "do it's thing" by creeping into the outer cracks of the masking tape.
4. Apply 2-3 coats of Mod Podge (gloss) with a sponge brush. Allow to dry in between coats.
5. Optional: Add scrapbooking letters to spell out the person's name or add embellishments of your choice.
I also used an 18 karat gold leafing pen around the top rim of the vase. I probably won't do that again for this particular vase project, however, you may want this look.

Have fun with this project! Use your imagination for all sorts of projects you can make for the guys, such as making valet boxes, docking stations, remote control holders or office desk sets for men. You may want to use this look on a picture frame, vase, pendant, etc. for the ladies. One thing I love about this project is that you can create this look on any surface...glass, wood, cardboard...and more! You could also use this process on the clay pot faux bubblegum machine project that I posted on this site. All kinds of ideas!
This little project is unbelievably easy to make and can be easily adapted to any holiday. For example, you can use small poinsettias in various colors or red and white roses and a cardinal bird for a Christmas nest.

Instructions:

1. Buy a little bird’s nest, approximately 4.5 inches wide, from a craft store such as Michael’s.
2. Use a low-temp hot glue gun and glue just enough Spanish moss to cover the bottom and sides of the nest.
3. Cut small roses and leaves from artificial flower scraps and hot glue them on the edge of the nest. Add baby's breath or pearl sprays to give it a little something extra.
4. Nestle and hot glue a little bird on top of the flowers.
5. You can fill the nest with whatever egg-shaped candy you would like, however, I chose Brach’s fruit flavored speckled jelly beans for my project. This little nest makes a nice presentation and I think any gal hosting an Easter dinner would be happy to set this little bird on her table.

Some examples of egg-shaped candy:
*Foil wrapped chocolate eggs
*Speckled jelly beans
*Speckled robin eggs (malted milk balls)

* TIP: If you can’t find nests at your craft store, you can always buy a small, natural wreath. Just trace a circle (a plastic lid works great) onto brown STIFF felt, cut it out, then hot glue it under the bottom of the wreath. I’ve done this before and it works great!

Inexpensive Gift Idea!

Make this adorable faux bubble gum machine for ANY occasion. This super-cute "machine" would look great on your kitchen counter, in your family room OR in a child's bedroom! There are so many possibilities with this craft and you can decorate according to the person's favorite colors, hobbies, theme, or gender. Keep in mind that this little globe can hold a lot more than just treats! Some examples: Splenda packets, tea bags, hair barrettes for little girls, trail mix, animal cookies, individual drink mixes that come in the tubes, baby washcloths, etc.! See the video for complete instructions as this is a project that you really do need a visual with.

Materials Needed:
(If possible, I highly recommend that you watch the video above for tips and visuals.)

Standard Globe Vase (NOT fluted at the top) I found mine at the Dollar Tree.
One 4 inch clay pot (I found all my clay pots and dishes at Michael's)
Two 4 inch clay dishes
One 3 inch clay dish
One round wooden doll's head OR wooden knob
Shiny Acrylic Paint in bright red...or color of your choice
Shiny Acrylic Paint in Beetle Black (Martha Stewart)...or color of your choice
E-6000 Glue (This is the only glue I would use. Not a good idea to use hot glue because it will eventually fall apart.)
Optional: Sheer wired ribbon in red with white polka dots...or coordinating color of your choice
You may also decide you want to leave the ribbon off and instead decorate with other items, such as scrapbooking embellishments. Use your imagination!

Before you start, you will need to soak your clay pot and dishes in very hot dishwater with a grease-cutting liquid dish washing detergent, such as Dawn. This will cause the upc stickers on the pots to slide off easily. Make sure the pots dry overnight because you DON'T want to paint over damp clay pots.

Paint your pot and all your clay dishes with the shiny black acrylic paint. Make sure to paint all sides...inside and out. Mine took 2 coats of paint. This will be the toughest part because you'll have to be patient and make sure everything is thoroughly dry. This process took me a couple of days. Paint the wooden doll's head or knob with the shiny red acrylic paint.

Once everything is painted, you have done the toughest part! Next, you will assemble the pots using your E-6000 glue. Turn the pot upside down and use a fairly generous amount of glue on the bottom. Center one of your 4 inch clay dishes on top. Place some more glue around the inside rim part of the 4 inch clay dish that you just placed on top of the pot. Center the vase globe. While you are allowing that to dry thoroughly overnight, you can assemble your lid. Take your 3 inch clay dish and run the glue around the rim of the dish. Center and assemble by placing that 3 inch dish inside a 4 inch clay dish. Allow to dry thoroughly. Once everything has dried overnight, glue the knob on top of your assembled lid. You are almost done! Now tie your bow the way you want it and attach to the front of your faux bubble gum machine. I added a little flat back rhinestone in the center of my bow AND at the very top of my knob. Of course, this was just a personal choice.

Allow the glue to continue "curing" for a least a couple of days. I think it would be a smart idea.
Lastly (and this is optional) you may want to trace and glue some stiff felt or very thin cork board to the base of your pot. This will help prevent scratching your counter or table top if it is not protected.

Have fun with this project!

Fill a 3x4 inch craft baggie with your choice of what you'd like for St. Patty's day. Maybe gold foil-wrapped chocolate coins or even a little angel pin. Fold topper in half and place over the top of a 3x4 craft baggie. You can find the baggies at any craft store in the beading section. I've also seen them at Walmart. Just fold the topper over the top of the baggie and attach on the underside with double-stick tape OR just use a staple. Enjoy!

Click on the purple link below to download your free sheet of baggie toppers in Adobe PDF format. When the page opens, just click on the large blue rectangular shaped button that says, "Download Now."

Hi everyone! This is the last tutorial in my “heart series.”
These were so much fun and they were a snap to make. I really liked the end
results! I’ve listed the materials you will need below and you can find all of
them at Michael’s. Enjoy!

1. Wood Shapes (1 to 1.5 inches) (Such as “Lara Crafts”
brand wood shapes)

2. Tinsel Glitter in gold or silver (I used Martha
Stewart and Recollections brand)

3. Aileen’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue

4. Glossy Accents

5. Metallic Acrylic Paint in Silver and Gold

6. Glue-On Necklace Bail (Use E-6000 glue)

7. Key Charms and jump rings (optional)

8. Black Suede Necklace Cord (See tutorial link in video
OR you can buy them premade at Michael’s. I believe they come 2 to a pack.

Here are the basic instructions for those of you who’ve
requested that I write them out along with the posting the video:

1. Paint wood heart shapes with gold or silver metallic
acrylic paint. Be sure to paint both sides and the edges. Allow to dry.

2. After the hearts are thoroughly dry, spread a generous
amount of Aileen’s tacky glue on the TOP of the heart, paying careful attention
to the edges. You’ll want to make sure the top of your heart is completely
covered to the very edge.

3. Sprinkle a generous amount of gold or silver tinsel
glitter on the glue, paying careful attention that glitter is spread to the very edges of the
heart. Don’t worry if your edges appear “fuzzy” with the tinsel glitter…We’ll
take care of that in a moment. Using your index finger, gently “pat down” the
glitter on your heart and gently shake the excess glitter off your heart. Don’t
skip this step! The heart will appear fuzzy around the edges, so you will
gently tap the edges with your finger all around the sides of the heart. You’ll
want the edges completely covered because this will make all the difference in
how your heart will turn out. If you see edges that could be covered a little
better, then take a tiny dab of Aileen’s Fast Grab glue on your finger and
place it along the edge. Dip into the glitter again and repeat the process. Don’t
forget to pat it down again. After this process is complete, allow the heart to
dry completely.

4. After the heart is dry, take your Glossy Accents and
apply a fairly thick layer on top of the heart. Be sure not to shake the
bottle. You don’t want to create air bubbles. Allow the Glossy Accents to drain
into the nozzle before applying. If you happen to see an air bubble or two, you
can pop the bubble with a pin or piece of wire. Allow to dry a minimum of 12
hours. If you happen to see a piece of glitter or two float to the top of your
heart, don’t panic. I promise you won’t be able to see it once it dries.

5. Your heart is complete! All you have to do is attach a
glue-on bail to the back of your heart with E-6000 glue. Allow to dry and add a
black suede necklace cord to your pendant. You can purchase the cords in packs
of two at Michael’s for approximately $3.99 OR you can make your own by
checking out my “Stunning Crystal Heart” necklace tutorial. I show how you can
make your own in the video.

Optional: Attach a key charm with a jump ring.

This beautiful Ruby Heart would make a lovely gift for Valentine's day, a Sweet 16, Mother's day, or even a small gift for the bridesmaids. Believe it or not, I only used 3 things to make this pendant...A Woodsies heart, Martha Stewart glitter in the color Garnet and Glossy Accents. The heart sparkles and looks as if it is under glass. Just beautiful! I also included hand-written instructions below for those of you who are unable to view the video. Enjoy this tutorial!

1. Paint wood heart shapes with glossy red acrylic paint. Be sure to paint both sides and the edges. Allow to dry.

2. After the hearts are thoroughly dry, spread a generous amount of Aileen’s tacky glue on the TOP of the heart, paying careful attention to the edges. You’ll want to make sure the top of your heart is completely covered to the very edge.

3. Sprinkle a generous amount of ultra fine glitter on the glue, paying careful attention that the glitter is spread to the very edges of the heart. Using your index finger, gently “pat down” the glitter on your heart and gently shake off the excess glitter. You’ll want the edges completely covered because this will make all the difference in how your heart will turn out. If you see edges that could be covered a little better, then take a tiny dab of Aileen’s Fast Grab glue on your finger and place it along the edge. Dip into the glitter again and repeat the process. Don’t forget to pat it down again. After this process is complete, allow the heart to dry completely.

4. After the heart is dry, take your Glossy Accents and apply a fairly thick layer on top of the heart. Be sure not to shake the bottle. You don’t want to create air bubbles. Allow the Glossy Accents to drain into the nozzle before applying. If you happen to see an air bubble or two, you can pop the bubble with a pin or piece of wire. Allow to dry a minimum of 12 hours. If you happen to see a few grains of glitter float to the top of your heart, don’t panic. I promise you won’t be able to see it once it dries.

5. Your heart is complete! All you have to do is attach a glue-on bail to the back of your heart with E-6000 glue. Allow to dry and add a black suede necklace cord to your pendant. You can purchase the cords in packs of two at Michael’s for approximately $3.99 OR you can make your own by checking out my “Stunning Crystal Heart” necklace tutorial. I show how you can make your own in the video.

Optional: Attach a key charm with a jump ring.

Make this sweet little hot cocoa box from nothing more than a few simple things...a box, acrylic paint, grosgrain ribbon, felt and scrapbooking stickers! I bought the cardboard box at Michael's and just left the lid off. If you are patient, you can purchase these boxes on sale (off and on) throughout the year for about a dollar...otherwise, they are around $2.99. See my tutorial above for details as well as the photo below of my finished box. This would make a wonderful and thoughtful little gift at Christmas and you can make the boxes over the Summer. The various ways to decorate the cocoa boxes are endless, however, I would suggest thinking of the person you will be giving the box to as a gift. What is the person's favorite color? Do they fancy a certain animal, such as birds or kittens? Do they have a hobby, such as collecting seashells or have a certain theme in their kitchen? Is the person diabetic or on a restricted diet? If so, be sure to give sugar-free cocoa. To give as a gift, I would recommend placing the hot cocoa box in a clear cellophane bag and attaching a large bow. Enjoy this project!

This project would make a lovely "Thinking of You" Christmas gift. It's very inexpensive to make and surprisingly EASY! It's a ring OR lipstick holder...you decide!
You can buy the glass votive holder at Walmart or Michael's for about a .50 cents. I then wrapped "Terrifically Tacky Tape" around the top and bottom rim of the glass.
See how the glitter shows right through the glass? Next, I rolled the rim into some of Martha Stewart's ultra fine glitter in the color "sterling." Love that glitter! I tapped the glass and then rolled it again to make sure I thoroughly covered the entire jar. Allow the glitter to cure on the tape for at least a day. Then, you can take a soft paint brush or Kleenex and gently "clean up the glass."
I chose some scrapbooking stickers I found at Michael's. If you are making the holders into gifts, take into consideration the colors the person likes. This will help to really personalize it.
Below is another holder I made. I used some rub-ons of little chickadees they had at Michael's. They have some really cute designs for only .99 cents per package. Around the rim, I used Martha Stewart's ultra fine glitter in "Verdelite."

Various colors of tinsel stem, cut into 6 inch pieces (16mm)
Well....ALMOST!

You can make some very pretty and original cookie stands as well as chip "n" dip bowls, armed only with E-6000 glue! See the above video tutorial for the cookie stand and check out my version of a chip 'n' dip bowl below.
Find a ceramic plate with a matching bowl. I found mine at Walmart near the Corelle dishes, however, keep your eyes open at thrift stores and garage sales. I picked up a dinner plate with a Fall fruit design for approx. $2.86 and a matching bowl for $1.76.
I turned the bowl upside down and used a generous amount of silicone glue (Such as E-6000 or some other brand of silicone glue) to glue the plate onto the bottom of the bowl. I've also seen this done with the cheap glass plates and glass candle pedestals that you can buy for a dollar a piece at Christmas.
Remember you can make yours for MUCH less than I paid for the dishes at Walmart, if you keep your eyes open. When you are at a garage sale or thrift store, you can always find stray plates and bowls that were originally part of a set. Imagine the beautiful cake stands OR chip 'n' dip sets you can create for far less than $5.00 per gift!

Here is a "before" picture of the plate and bowl I bought at Walmart:

Below is a picture of a finished cake stand. See how I turned the bowl upside down and glued it onto the plate?
Below is another example of the same type plate, only I glued the bowl into the center of the plate to make a chip 'n' dip bowl:

Now tell me who WOULDN'T love a gift like this at Christmas? Especially if it was filled with your favorite homemade Christmas cookies! :o)
