If you are interested in nature and want to experience something quite uniqe during your visit then this may be for you.

A local environmentalist, Andrew Syvret, organises walks and boat trips to experience the best and most interesting aspects of marine life and habitats around our coastline, and especially the ecologically important Ramsar wetland area of 32SqKm on the south east coast.

Many locals go on his tours as they are such a unique experience, especially moon walks; night time walks when low tides coincide with full moons. Andrew explains it much better than I can though - so read all about it on his website SeaJersey.com

Tennerfest in Jersey this year is from October 1st to November 12th, so prepare yourselves for the Autumn eating out season. The Tennerfest website will be open from 22nd September as they are obviously compiling the menus at the moment, but now is a good time to start thinking of where you may want to try this year...

There are several restaurants in St. Aubins that will be offering Tennerfest menus, so if you want to make a night of it take advantage of our off-season rates and have a sleepover. Enjoy a night out without worries about driving followed by a relaxing morning-after with a fab breakfast, morning papers (supplied), and a lovely walk around the harbour.

Branchage Jersey International Film Festival

4th annual Branchage Jersey International Film Festival

"Branchage" {bron-car-ge}

A word familiar to all islanders as the name for an annual tour of the roads and lanes by parish officials to check that hedges and trees are correctly trimmed. Some lanes would be about 3 feet wide if left unattended after some rain in the summer. You will often see frantic hedge trimming going on by landowners when the branchage visit is due, to avoid painful fines.

So, the Branchage film festival is held at several venues over four days and presents some very interesting films, documentaries and commissioned works. There's some really fascinating stuff and it's also nice to see some quite intellectual entertainment available as well as an organisation supporting and developing professional creative skills.

Tennerfest 2011

Did you know - Today is the officially the first day of Autumn?

Every Autumn in Jersey we have our "Tennerfest" where the restaurants open their doors with special menus at low prices. It all began with £10 menus, hence the "Tenner" but what with inflation an all, not all restaurants can do it for a tenner any more so it has become in some places unofficially the "twelve pound fifty fest" or "the fifteen quid fest". Whatever though, they do put on lovely menus at great savings, so every year thousands of locals and visitors alike take the opportunity to try restaurants, both new, and old favourites, and after a long hot summer and with the evenings getting shorter and cooler, it all makes for a lovely time of the year. We'll add the 2011 participating restaurant list when its is announced shortly, both here and on our Facebook page.

As St. Aubin's has several very popular restaurants and sleep-overs are fun for special evenings, we will be doing some Tennerfest sleep-over offers so you don't need to worry about driving. If you want us to let you know about these or any offers generally, just follow us on Facebook.

Very much an X-Factor evening on the 16th July at the Howard Davis Park in St. Helier, with runner up Ollie Murs and 2008 X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke confirmed as headline acts. The venue is a lovely park in town with an open air stage - should be a fantastic evening.

Jersey Events 2011 - Jersey Jazz Festival

We are looking forward to some great events in Jersey this year and thought it would be great to run a series of blog posts, summarising some of these events. Today we start with the Jersey Jazz Festival - Friday 01 April to Sunday 03 April 2011.

A true favourite on the island, the festival consists of six truly amazing bands, two amazing French groups The Gibson Brothers, Melody Players, three brilliant musicians Tom with , Quartet, Weir and Jerseys very own greatly talented Brian White. The festival takes place in four wonderful venues: The Mayfair Hotel, The Post Horn, Cock & Bottle and Dix and the thrilling experiences lasts for over seventeen hours over the three days. Tickets are now available to buy from The Mayfair Hotel and range from £10 to £40, a single Evening Pass is £10 per person, Sunday Live Jazz Brunch is £15 and the Full Jazz Package including Brunch and all other events is only £40. Every evening starts off with a spectacular show at The Mayfair Hotel, then the fun carries on down into the town with an uplifting pub crawl to the remaining venues where the amazing music and brilliant atmosphere will continue into the night. Sunday brunch will also take place in The Mayfair Hotel with the relaxing Jazz music being performed as you enjoy the beautiful food, giving you an unmissable experience. The music planned to start from 1:00pm till 12:00 midnight on Friday and Saturday and then 12:30 till 12:00 midnight on Sunday. All these qualities make The Jersey Jazz festival a unique and a must attend event if you are lucky enough to be on the island at the time it takes place, it is a very special event in any Jazz musicians calendar and is fun for all the ages especially those who enjoy the beauty of jazz music.

Jersey will play host to some amazing events which if you are lucky enough to be here are not to be missed. They occur throughout the year and show the true culture of Jersey. They range from music to countryside so there is something for everyone to enjoy. Some truly amazing upcoming events are :-

Jersey Jazz Fest- Friday 01 April – Sunday 03 April

This year’s Jazz Fest consists of six great bands, which are The Gibson Brothers, Melody Players, Tom Macleod with Azzedine, Blam Quartet, Linley Weir and Brian White. The music will be played every evening at the Mayfair Hotel, and continues into a Jazz pub crawl into town as different venues are taking part. On the Sunday afternoon a Sunday lunch is included at The Mayfair Hotel as a relaxing end to the Jazz Festival. Tickets are now on sale at The Mayfair Hotel Reception. Single Evening Pass: £10 per person, Sunday Live Jazz Brunch: £15 and the Full Jazz Package Including Brunch and all other events: only £40, as stated on jersey.com.

Liberation Day- Monday 09 May

The celebration of the Liberation from Occupying Forces during World War 2. Why not join in with the locals and take part in the free activities which range form Heritage Trails, Access to World War 2 Bunkers and an afternoon of Entertainment in Weighbridge Place. The day is good fun as well as a historical day which helps you to understand Jersey’s true culture and should not be missed.

Spring Walk- Saturday 14 May – Saturday 21 May

No better ways to view and enjoy Jersey’s natural beauty than on the guided tours, designed to be enjoyed by all ages. There is also the Annual Around Island walk which takes you around the cost line of the whole island and takes 5 days. There are arrangements to take you to and from the starting point for each day. The walk costs £20 and shows you the whole of Jersey's beautiful culture and countryside and is enjoyed by many each year.

Rubis Jersey Cycle Race – Sunday 25 May

The race is around the streets of Jersey’s capital St Helier attracts racers from all round the world. There are 6 main races for the 6 categories which range from 6-9’s to professional cyclists. Also for the first time ever this year Tour de France stage winner Magnus Backstedt brings his Nigel Mansell owned UK Youth Team, which should be a great treat. It starts at 11:30 till 18:00; the main race starts at 17:00. Should be a great day out for everyone.

Just over one month to go and we are opening our doors again for another season! We are looking forward to welcoming back previous visitors and also meeting new customers this year.

As always there are some great events to look forward to again this coming season.

One event well worthy of a mention is the "Jersey Textile Showcase 2011", which runs between the 7th & 13th March.

This event is held at the nearby Harbour Gallery and Creative Design Studio's in St Aubin.

The Harbour Gallery is constantly evolving and changing with new design studios and artists. With 12 major exhibitions a year events and workshops it can be described as a working gallery, the largest in the Channel Islands.

The Gallery Cafe boasts fresh food at all times with Jersey grown ingredients at sensible prices.

This really is an exciting and colourful event not to be missed!

Bike Hire Service now available from the Harbour View

We have teamed up with Aaron from Jersey Bike Repairs to offer Bike Hire to our guests, with pick up and return from the Guest House. So why not take advantage of this new service and explore Jersey on two wheels!

Jersey Bike Repairs have recently expanded their services and now offer Bike Hire, Sales, Repair and Servicing.

As well as all of this Aaron has also started to try his hand at video production! Check out his latest video from their ongoing series.

The Harbour View Guest House Jersey

Kelly Keadell has been running the 'Harbour View' Guest House in Jersey for over 22 years and has recently had a total life change. Kelly desided to rent out the restaurant now known as "Dannys at the Harbour View" to two great chefs Mr Danny Moisan and Mr David Haynes.

During the winter of 2009/2010 this Jersey self catering guest house has had a complete refurbishment. The original restaurant was recently converted into a gorgeous suite sleeping 4 and now the renovation of the interior breakfast room has been completed. This has made it light and airy, and provides a bigger better breakfast buffet. There is also a great communal room for the guests to relax and free internet wifi is also available, and coffee is on the go all day.

The Harbour View Jersey guest house is now a 4 star AA and a 4 star quality with Jersey Tourism. This latest improvements are work in progress, with the last renovation being done 22 years ago and before that 1709! The plan also includes a new roof and updating the bedrooms to the same standard as the suites. The vine outside the building is budding so looks like summer is slowly on its way, kelly is looking forward to a great new season and greeting all returning a new guests.
