Sony announced Xperia Ion on AT&T’s LTE network at the Consumer Electronics Show 2012 which is the largest consumer electronics exhibition in the world. It should be available by the second quarter of 2012.

Sony Xperia Ion features

Xperia Ion runs on a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon dual core processor with a 16 GB built in storage. Xperia Ion comes with a 4.6 inch screen and a 1280*720 display. The most noted feature is the Xperia Ion’s 12 mega pixel rear camera with Sony’s Exmor R sensor which is a new record among its competitors. The camera can take pictures in an interval of 1.5 seconds. The front camera is a 1.3 mega pixel one which supports 720p. Xperia Ion will be launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but can be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later.

Xperia Ion also supports interoperability along TV, PC, Tablet and phone. You can turn the phone into a remote control for TV using Xperia Ion’s Bravio sync enabled HDMI output and the best part is that it will work with any TV and not just Sony. Xperia Ion is also capable of running Play Station games and supports Sony’s music and video services.

Xperia Ion doesn’t have a memory card slot but the 16 GB of internal memory should be good enough for normal storage.

HP’s agile cloud solution HP Converged Infrastructure will be utilized by Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) which manages a system of support services for 80,000 people with developmental disabilities. The cloud computing based solution that encompasses HP servers, desktops, network and storage for system backup and monitoring will help to extend the statewide system services to people with developmental disabilities. Increased efficiency, automated data movement and network optimization are obvious advantages for DODD.

The agency purchased a HP Blade System c7000 enclosure to accommodate its growing need for more servers and storage. With the new enclosure the agency consolidated more than 100 physical servers in 11 data centers down to 16 HP ProLiant BL490c G6 servers and HP ProLiant BL490c G7 servers in one rack. Also the switches were upgraded from Cisco’s to HP’s providing flexibility for virtualized workloads and accelerate application delivery.

For securing valuable data DODD had a disaster plan in place by implementing an Instant-On Government that is readily available whenever it is needed. The random-access memory (RAM) and central processing units (CPUs) of the existing HP ProLiant DL 380 G5 servers of DODD have been upgraded for the purpose. Also external storage with an HP StorageWorks MSA60 for disk based backup has also been employed. Further expansion of newly created virtual infrastructure with lesser power consumption have also been planned by virtue of, 1500 HP t5745 Thin Clients to significantly reduce the agency’s hardware costs for the desktop. HP Converged Infrastructure is a key component of the Instant-On Enterprise which is embedded technology for customers.

Microsoft’s has announced results of its Chronic Condition Management (CCM) platform deployment at Denver Health today with an aim to encourage diabetes patients to self manage conditions. The program during the initial phase tested the new technique on the high risk category making use of a bidirectional CCM based patient provider communication to collect relevant blood sugar measurements and provide reminders of appointments to patients. Denver healthcare officials after review of the data reverted by phone under proper guidelines.

The first phase of the CCM program with the diabetes patients which is said to affect more than 25 million people world over had both parties’ patients and providers participating effectively. Andy Steele M.D., director of Medical Informatics at Denver Healthcare referred to definite advantage the approach has over the traditional long standing model for treatment of chronic disorders.

The CCM platform at Denver healthcare comprises integrated Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and when coupled with EMC Corp.’s healthcare process design and technology which is the trusted advisor on the project created a elastic model for different types of providers, addressing number of diseases like diabetes with increasing complexity.
As a part of clinic’s at-home management programs the CCM platform is going to play a significant role especially incase of re-admission rates and easy replication and implementation. Denver healthcare officials are planning to extend the solution to other clinical databases for better identification and reach out to patients.

The opening of the first laboratories for the training and research center for the new version of Internet Protocol,IPv6 in Slovakia is announced by CISCO and the Technical University of Kosice. The main objective of the lab is to provide applications, network solutions for the new generation Internet Protocol,IPv6. There are several centers for the development ofIPv6around the globe. The lab in Technical University of Kosice is connected to international network ofIPv6.

The networking and communication equipment of the lab were donated by CISCO. All the labs are interconnected by GEANT, main European multi Giga bit computer network for research and education process. The labs are interconnected so they can be used redundantly, even if one of the lab is busy the researcher can easily directed to the next lab.
