GRUM certainly has a knack for making hilarious videos! First we got the food porn inspired Can’t Shake The Feeling and now he’s back with this homo-erotic pornstache fest for Through The Night. This was not quite what I thought he had in mind when he talked with us about making driving music! (interview coming later this week) This video had me dying from scene one, spend a few minutes with these bumbling idiots this afternoon it will brighten your day!

Isn’t that picture the cutest ever? haha. A few nights ago  the Scissor Sisters played a show in Melbourne and Kylie joined them on stage for Any Which Way, as she did at Glastonbury, and also for an encore for country style version of All The Lovers. I can’t get enough of this pairing -- it really is a match made in heaven! I’m very pleased to see that these live collaborations are a recurring event… and yes I’m crossing my fingers and toes that Ms.Minogue makes an appearance at the Scissor Sisters show here in NYC next month! Wouldn’t that be a dream New Yorkers?

Any Which Way

One of the most exciting new artists to emerge this year is 21 year old Florrie from the U.K. We’ve posted lots about about her here on Hard Candy and loved every track that she’s given away on her site!  So we figured it was time we had a little chat with her to find out more about the girl behind these electro-pop goodies!

In our interview Florrie talks about the experience of working with production powerhouse Xenomania (who are responsible for plenty of your favorite pop tracks from the likes of Kylie Minogue, Girls Aloud, Pet Shop Boys and many more), teaming up with Fred Falke, what she’s been listening too, what she thinks of the all the love shes been receiving from the blogosphere and much more.  I cannot wait to hear more from Florrie (especially the Florrie Plus One track shhh!)

I’m never really dissapointed in anything that Goldfrapp releases. All of their packaging, videos + tour performances have such a cohesive vibe – it really makes a difference!

The new single from Head First has been announced as Believer. I would have picked I Wanna Life, but that’s just me!  Remixes by Little Loud, Vince Clarke, Subway and Joris Voorn are coming their way!

At 3PM EST today you can catch a live screening of Burning a new film by Scottish rock outfit Mogwai. The film will be viewed by fans all over the world, and you can chat with each other while it plays. There will be an intro by director Vincent Moon and the band’s own Stuart Braithwaite.

Martina from Dragonette stars in a new video with Kaskade for their collaboration Fire In Your New Shoes! If you haven’t heard the electro stomper (I love that phrase) you’ll get to hear it for the first time with a hot ass visual of Martina writhing around on a bed while Ryan Raddon (aka. Kaskade) takes her picture.

Overall a hot video with some nice red accents, Martina looks amazing as usual and while the cheesy ‘take my picture’ concept has been done before i’m willing to overlook it thanks to those firecracker pumps!

Well what do you know? When my back was turned for a split second  this weekend someone leaked a new (?) Lauryn Hill track! No-one is quite sure where this has come from, but there is speculation that its some of the new material she’s been working on. I would hope thats the case, but whatever it’s from I like it! Laid back and smooth vocals make this the perfect chill out number. God I’ve really missed Lauryn Hill now I sit back and think about it, its so nice to hear her voice on something new, at least to our ears!

Hot damn! It’s been Robyn fever for the past few weeks as I gear up to see her perform with Kelis and Dan Black on the All Hearts tour this week! Just in time to add to the brewing pot of excitement, the official video for Hang With Me leaks onto the web complete with the new dance version as it’s backdrop.  I’ve also scoured the net for a new remix that I love by Avicii which you can preview below.

It’s been a huge year for Dan Black and much has happened since we last interviewed at CMJ last year. That interview was one of our most enjoyable and we were super excited to have the opportunity to interview him again.  This time we Skyped with Dan, who was in Paris working away on new music (which he previews  for us in the interview!) ex, before jetting back to the U.S. to start the All Hearts Tour with Robyn and Kelis that kicked off in Los Angeles last night.

We chat with Dan about his Symphonies collaboration with Kid Cudi, his thoughts about touring in the U.S and sharing a bill with Robyn & Kelis (we also asked him which of the lovely girls he’d duet with given the chance) he talks about working on his new album and who he has been collaborating with and writing for (Lady Gaga say what?!)  and much more. The single drops in August featuring a remix by MJ Cole ( an old favorite of mine) and brand new track Liz + Johhny.

Let me start with this. Do you see that obnoxiously large Union Jack flag with the Spice Girls faces plastered on to it in the background? Well that belongs to me, Matt and a few of our other crazy friends! When I heard the Spice Girls were doing a reunion tour and would be heading to U.S shores, I jumped for joy and snagged tickets right away -- I did not expect the level of enthusiasm from my non-British friends here in the U.S. haha!

It was trip down memory lane and a I’ll freely admit my love for the show, it was a damn good fun night out!  Now more than two years later professionally shot tour footage has just popped up online and it looks like the tour may be released on DVD! Yay!

It’s Raining Men (Geri Halliwell)

We got our first taste of this stellar mix of the Scissor Sisters Invisible Light done by Boys Noize when Annie Mac played it on her Radio One show several weeks back. Shortly after its premiere, a radio rip surfaced and we’ve been hankering for the high quality version for weeks (we hate sharing rips as you may have noticed they are a rarity around here) Now this morning I wake up to find a treat in my inbox, it has now finally surfaced!

The original is such an incredible track from the Scissor Sisters and it made me very eager to hear Night Work. Until this release I had only been a casual fan of Jake and the crew, but they made me stand up and pay attention with this immaculate and varied collection of down and dirty 70’s/80’s inspired tracks . This is an amazing mix that protects the integrity of the original, and Boys Noize as usual bring the heat. Enjoy!

Tracey Thorn hasn’t received nearly enough attention for her recent release of Love and It’s Opposite. It’s produced by Ewan Pearson, one of my favorites!  Overall it’s a down-tempo record with lyrical content that Thorn says reflects “real life after forty.” My favorite track absolutely has to be Why Does The Wind, and I share with you the Morgan Geist remix tonight!
