Have you noticed your roof chipping away?

In 1996, the marketing representative for HardiShake trained a small handful of my colleagues to sell their exciting product.

As the marketing representative explained it to me, the Hardi Shake fiber cement shingles were made by rolling a wire mesh wheel through a mixture of sand, cellulose “wood” fibers and portland cement.

As the wire mesh wheel turned, it would pick up another layer of the mixture. When the collected layers reached 1/4″ thickness, they were stamped into shingles with either a “shake” or “slate” imprint. The shingles were then laminated creating a moisture barrier.

If you are the original owner of a Hardi Shake roof, you’ll remember that your roof had a glossy sheen when first installed.

Find out why filing a Hardishake lawsuit claim could be a total waste of your time.

Although the Hardishake material was sold with a lifetime 50 year warranty – many homeowners have discovered what they have called a “fatal flaw” in the product.

Your roof may already be showing signs of failure – breaking, cracking, delamination, discoloration and softening.

If you believe you have a Hardishake, Maxishake, FireFree or Cemwood roof, the first thing you need to do is pick up the phone and call me right now (817) 781-9982.

Because the entire claims process requires a significant investment of time, I’m only able to take on a limited number of clients. If I am able to accept your case, we will begin the claims process immediately.

Now is the time to call.

My Advice? Give Up On The Lawsuit!Hardieshake I do not know of one single person who has been paid under the terms of the Hardishake lawsuit settlement.

My Advice? Give Up On The Lawsuit!

Hardieshake

I do not know of one single person who has been paid under the terms of the Hardishake lawsuit settlement.

That’s right… I’ve never, ever, not one single time, have had the court pay out a single dime on a Hardishake roof claim where I was involved in the process. Sadly, I’ve heard many more stories from people I have eventually helped who have told me the same thing - they did not get a dime either.

I’m sure there are people out there who collected money on the lawsuit. Surely, somebody was able to get some money – I just don’t know any of them.

Here’s the real problem:

There are many exclusions outlined in the lawsuit settlement that make it virtually impossible to get paid. Even if you could jump through every hoop, clear ever obstacle and squeeze some money out of the settlement, the terms of the lawsuit pay far below the fair market value for replacing your roof.

If you can’t replace your Hardishake with another roof of like kind and value because you didn’t get enough money, you would be stuck with putting a cheap roof on your home.

On the other hand, several insurance companies are aware that your roof could be a huge financial liability. They are not anxious to help you with your faulty roof. You need professional help.

With that in mind, let me share with you a few Hardishake stories:

A couple had picked out their dream home in Mira Vista but could not close because their insurance agent refused to cover the roof. That’s right – it was a Hardishake.

A Plano man was given a buy-out package from his new company but could not collect because of his Hardishake roof. If he didn’t have that roof, he could have easily accepted the promotion.

A family wants to pull the equity out of their home but their roof raises red flags during the appraisal process. Obviously, most home inspectors will spot defective roofs quickly.

A man buys a home and is able to get coverage with a major insurance carrier. A few months before he is to renew, his local agent calls with a warning… “Do NOT let them [the underwriter] know you have a Hardishake roof”.

If you are concerned about your Hardishake roof and want to do something about it now, pick up the phone and call me (817) 781-9982 or use the online contact form.

Your insurance company is not responsible for your faulty roof.

A Hardishake, Maxishake, FireFree or Cemwood roof is more vulnerable in a damp, wet climate than in other parts of the country. Once the protective glossy layer is gone, water will seep down into the heart of your shingles – the damage has just begun.

Each change in season reveals further roof damage - eventually leading to extensive interior water damage in your home. Unfortunately, most insurance companies will hold you responsible for those costly repairs due to your faulty roof.

The insurance company will rightly claim that your policy does not cover manufacture defects. It will cost you thousands & thousands of dollars to replace your roof… not to mention what it will cost to repair the water damage to your home.

Before you call your insurance company, pick up the phone and call me. One phone call may save you thousands of dollars. Dial (817) 781-9982 or use the online form now.

One of the tell-tale signs of premature shingle failure is “capillary suction”.

Moisture can get into and behind the shingles because they sit tightly on top of one other. Water will literally appear to defy gravity as it is drawn backwards (wicking) into the overlapping above fiber cement shingle.

The way to defeat capillary suction is to perfectly seal each and every shingle. Obviously, this would be impossible to do. That’s why we are having problems today.

Another method is to ventilate the space between each shingle by creating a gap. Unfortunately, shingles work best at shedding rain water when you eliminate or shrink the gaps.

It seems to be a proverbial Catch 22!

If your shingles are breaking and falling apart, pick up the phone and call me right now (817) 781-9982 or use the handy online contact me form.

Asbestos Fibers?Hardieshake Old concrete shingles were sometimes manufactured with asbestos fibers that served to increase their strength and durability. As you know, a person struggling with asbestosis cannot pass the fibers out of their body. The fibers are extremely resilient… holding on to the body and refusing to let go.
Old concrete shingles were sometimes manufactured with asbestos fibers that served to increase their strength and durability.

As you know, a person struggling with asbestosis cannot pass the fibers out of their body. The fibers are extremely resilient… holding on to the body and refusing to let go.

Due to the serious health concerns caused by asbestos, manufacturers were eventually forced to find an alternate way to simulate these resilient benefits. They needed a material that would hold the concrete together without the health risks.

That alternative for many manufacturers was wood “cellulose” fibers. While wood fibers initially did a good job of adding strength and durability to concrete shingles, many soon revealed their alleged fatal flaw…

When it rains, unprotected wood fibers attract and hold water. As the temperature changes, the fibers expand and contract separating the shingle back into brittle layers.

The Hardishake roofs did not originally reveal these problems because they had a glossy finish that protected the wood fibers from being exposed. However, as the shingles have weathered this protective shield has disappeared.

If you have one of these roofs, you can lean your ladder up to the edge of the roof and closely examine one of your shingles. You’ll notice little fibers sticking up out of the shingle like the hair on the back of your neck.

A cement roof that is held together with these wood fibers will begin to break, chip and fall apart as water gets into the heart of the shingle - a process called capillary suction.
